  • How to display two ObservableCollections as a single list in WPF?

    I have two ObservableCollections, say ObservableCollection<Cat> and ObservableCollections<Dog>. Cat and Dog both derive from class Pet. I want to display a list of all Pets. How do I do this? I prefer not want create a new ObservableCollection<Pet> by adding items from the two source lists because this list will become stale as more Cats and Dogs are added to the source lists. I can think of two approaches: 1) Create a "Decorator" ObservableCollection that keeps the two source collections as members and iterates over them every time. 2) Create an ObservableCollection<Pet> that does have the combined elements of the two source collections, but is also dependent on the source collections. Thus if a Cat is added to the Cat collection, this collection is notified and it adds the new Cat to itself. Is there a standard way to solve this issue? I don't want to reinvent the wheel!

    I have google as much as I possible, checked stackoverflow several times, and yet I can not find a good html to pdf converter that can handle css. Is there a free and open source solution (even for commercial usage)? There are many solutions, with huge variety of price ranges, but I was looking for something open source and free. I have tried PISA for Python and it works fairly well, but is not free for commercial usage. Is there anything for .Net? I have not had success with iTextSharp.

    How to fill multiple tables in a dataset. I m using a query that returns me four tables. At the frontend I am trying to fill all the four resultant table into dataset. Here is my Query. Query is not complete. But it is just a refrence for my Ques Select * from tblxyz compute sum(col1) suppose this query returns more than one table, I want to fill all the tables into my dataset I am filling result like this con.open(); adp.fill(dset); con.close(); Now when i checks this dataset. It shows me that it has four tables but only first table data is being displayed into it. rest 3 dont even have schema also. What i need to do to get desired output

  • In GWT-EXT checkboxtree how to handle single selection of tree nodes?

    hi, I'm working on checkBoxTree in GWT-EXT 2.0.3 with Java. My aim is to get a selectionModel which allows me to select(check) only one TreeNode at a time. If I select another TreeNode after selecting one then, the previous one should be unchecked. I've tried using DefaultSelectionModel with TreePanel, but either I've not used it properly or it's working only for selection of TreeNode not for checking a TreeNode. Can anyone help me in this?     Hi. I'm trying to upgrade my current application to use an abstract parent entity, with specialized sub entities. I've created a custom NSEntityMigrationPolicy, and in the mapping model I've set the Custom Policy to the name of my class. I'm initializing my persistent store like this, which should be fairly standard : NSError *error=nil; persistentStoreCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel: [self managedObjectModel]]; NSDictionary *options = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES], NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption, nil]; if (![persistentStoreCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:storeUrl options:options error:&error]) { NSLog(@"Error adding persistent store : %@",[error description]); NSAssert(error==nil,[error localizedDescription]); } When i run the app i get the following error : Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 134140.)' [error userInfo] contains "reason=Can't find mapping model for migration" I've verified that version 1 of the data model will open, and if i set NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption i get a migration, although my entities are not migrated correctly (as expected). I've verified that the mapping model (cdm) is in the application bundle, but somehow it refuses to find it. I've also set breakpoints and NSLog() statements in the custom migration policy, and none of it runs, with or without NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption Any hints as to why it seems unable to find the mapping model ?

  • How many bytes does Oracle use when storing a single character?

    I tried to look here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/datatype.htm#i3253 And I understand that I have to provide string length for the column, I'm just not able to find out how many bytes oracle uses when storing a character. My limit is 500 characters, so if its 1 byte / character, I can create the column with 500, if its 2 byte / character then 1000, etc. Anyone have a link to the documentation or know for certain? In case it matters, the SQL is being called from PHP, so these are PHP strings I'm inserting into the database. Thanks.

    I've found, via Google, numerous people asking the same question, but no solutions. The Python Image Library (PIL) has tools for stepping through an already existing multi-page TIFF, but nothing about creating them. Libraries would hopefully be available on Windows, for Python 2.6. If there's some freeware out there which will do the trick, I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I was hoping I could accomplish this in Python.

    Hello, I am deploying a little service to an UNIX(AIX) system. I want to check if there is no active instance of that service running when starting it. How reliable is to implement that check like this? Try to acquire a lock on a file (w/ FileChannel) If succeeds, keep lock and continue execution If fails, exit and refuse to run the main body I am aware of software like the Tanuki wrapper, however, I'm longing for a simpler(maybe not portable) solution. Regarding PIDFILE(s): I want to avoid using them if possible, as I don't have administrative rights on the machine, neither knowledge in AIX's shell programming.

  • What is ExtJS philosophy? Single page application?

    I need to write my next project using ExtJs. It's a nice Javascript lib but I don't fully understand the idea behind it. Take the docs page for example: http://www.extjs.com/deploy/dev/docs/ Am I supposed to write my web applications with extjs like that? One page that should never be refreshed, and everything getting done by AJAX? How do you debug such applications if getting to the right place may take a lot of 'clicking' and working with it. You cannot fix the bug and hit refresh in the browser to see the results. Any suggestions?

    I'm writing a simple jQuery plugin, but I'm having trouble being able to use multiple instances on a page. For instance, here is a sample plugin to illustrate my point: (function($) { $.fn.samplePlugin = function(options) { if (typeof foo != 'undefined') { alert('Already defined!'); } else { var foo = 'bar'; } }; })(jQuery); And then if I do this: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#myDiv').samplePlugin({}); // does nothing $('#myDiv2').samplePlugion({}); // alerts "Already defined!" }); This is obviously an over-simplified example to get across the point. So my question is, how do I have two separate instances of the plugin? I'd like to be able to use it across multiple instances on the same page. I'm guessing that part of the problem might be with defining the variables in a global scope. How can I define them unique to that instance of the plugin then? Thank you for your guidance!

  • Limiting the number of threads executing a method at a single time.

    We have a situation where we want to limit the number of paralell requests our application can make to its application server. We have potentially 100+ background threads running that will want to at some point make a call to the application server but only want 5 threads to be able to call SendMessage() (or whatever the method will be) at any one time. What is the best way of achieving this? I have considered using some sort of gatekeeper object that blocks threads coming into the method until the number of threads executing in it has dropped below the threshold. Would this be a reasonable solution or am I overlooking the fact that this might be dirty/dangerous? We are developing in C#.NET 3.5. Thanks, Steve

    I need to create a nice installer for a Mac application. I want it to be a disk image (DMG), with a predefined size, layout and background image. I need to do this programmatically in a script, to be integrated in an existing build system (more of a pack system really, since it only create installers. The builds are done separately). I already have the DMG creation done using "hdiutil", what I haven't found out yet is how to make an icon layout and specify a background bitmap.

    I was unable to activate Safari Reader in a local HTML file, so I cannot give you a running example but only describe my problem: The markup of my blog posts is basically this: <div class="post"> <div class="post-header">Hello, World</div> <div class="post-body"> <p>Look at this picture:</p> <p><img src="http://37prime.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/safari_icon.png"/></p> <p>Isn't that a nice picture?</p> </div> </div> This looks as expected in all browsers, including Safari. In Safari Reader however, the third paragraph "Isn't that a nice picture?" is floating around the image, instead of being on a paragraph of it's own. Has anybody experienced a similar problem?

    I have a simple app with two basic screens, a UIMapView and a UITableView. I'd like to have a toolbar at the bottom with a couple of buttons and a UISegmentedControl with two segments: "Map" and "Table". (The layout is similar to the Google Maps app that ships with the iPhone.) How can I keep the same toolbar while presenting either the UIMapView (with a UIMapViewController) or the UITableView (with a UITableViewController) when the user switches back and forth on the segmented control? Of course, I can just create an identical toolbar for each of the two different views and display them separately, but is there a better way?
