  • What approach to take for SIMD optimizations

    - by goldenmean
    Hi, I am trying to optimize below code for SIMD operations (8way/4way/2way SIMD whiechever possible and if it gives gains in performance) I am tryin to analyze it first on paper to understand the algorithm used. How can i optimize it for SIMD:- void idct(uint8_t *dst, int stride, int16_t *input, int type) { int16_t *ip = input; uint8_t *cm = ff_cropTbl + MAX_NEG_CROP; int A, B, C, D, Ad, Bd, Cd, Dd, E, F, G, H; int Ed, Gd, Add, Bdd, Fd, Hd; int i; /* Inverse DCT on the rows now */ for (i = 0; i < 8; i++) { /* Check for non-zero values */ if ( ip[0] | ip[1] | ip[2] | ip[3] | ip[4] | ip[5] | ip[6] | ip[7] ) { A = M(xC1S7, ip[1]) + M(xC7S1, ip[7]); B = M(xC7S1, ip[1]) - M(xC1S7, ip[7]); C = M(xC3S5, ip[3]) + M(xC5S3, ip[5]); D = M(xC3S5, ip[5]) - M(xC5S3, ip[3]); Ad = M(xC4S4, (A - C)); Bd = M(xC4S4, (B - D)); Cd = A + C; Dd = B + D; E = M(xC4S4, (ip[0] + ip[4])); F = M(xC4S4, (ip[0] - ip[4])); G = M(xC2S6, ip[2]) + M(xC6S2, ip[6]); H = M(xC6S2, ip[2]) - M(xC2S6, ip[6]); Ed = E - G; Gd = E + G; Add = F + Ad; Bdd = Bd - H; Fd = F - Ad; Hd = Bd + H; /* Final sequence of operations over-write original inputs. */ ip[0] = (int16_t)(Gd + Cd) ; ip[7] = (int16_t)(Gd - Cd ); ip[1] = (int16_t)(Add + Hd); ip[2] = (int16_t)(Add - Hd); ip[3] = (int16_t)(Ed + Dd) ; ip[4] = (int16_t)(Ed - Dd ); ip[5] = (int16_t)(Fd + Bdd); ip[6] = (int16_t)(Fd - Bdd); } ip += 8; /* next row */ } ip = input; for ( i = 0; i < 8; i++) { /* Check for non-zero values (bitwise or faster than ||) */ if ( ip[1 * 8] | ip[2 * 8] | ip[3 * 8] | ip[4 * 8] | ip[5 * 8] | ip[6 * 8] | ip[7 * 8] ) { A = M(xC1S7, ip[1*8]) + M(xC7S1, ip[7*8]); B = M(xC7S1, ip[1*8]) - M(xC1S7, ip[7*8]); C = M(xC3S5, ip[3*8]) + M(xC5S3, ip[5*8]); D = M(xC3S5, ip[5*8]) - M(xC5S3, ip[3*8]); Ad = M(xC4S4, (A - C)); Bd = M(xC4S4, (B - D)); Cd = A + C; Dd = B + D; E = M(xC4S4, (ip[0*8] + ip[4*8])) + 8; F = M(xC4S4, (ip[0*8] - ip[4*8])) + 8; if(type==1){ //HACK E += 16*128; F += 16*128; } G = M(xC2S6, ip[2*8]) + M(xC6S2, ip[6*8]); H = M(xC6S2, ip[2*8]) - M(xC2S6, ip[6*8]); Ed = E - G; Gd = E + G; Add = F + Ad; Bdd = Bd - H; Fd = F - Ad; Hd = Bd + H; /* Final sequence of operations over-write original inputs. */ if(type==0){ ip[0*8] = (int16_t)((Gd + Cd ) >> 4); ip[7*8] = (int16_t)((Gd - Cd ) >> 4); ip[1*8] = (int16_t)((Add + Hd ) >> 4); ip[2*8] = (int16_t)((Add - Hd ) >> 4); ip[3*8] = (int16_t)((Ed + Dd ) >> 4); ip[4*8] = (int16_t)((Ed - Dd ) >> 4); ip[5*8] = (int16_t)((Fd + Bdd ) >> 4); ip[6*8] = (int16_t)((Fd - Bdd ) >> 4); }else if(type==1){ dst[0*stride] = cm[(Gd + Cd ) >> 4]; dst[7*stride] = cm[(Gd - Cd ) >> 4]; dst[1*stride] = cm[(Add + Hd ) >> 4]; dst[2*stride] = cm[(Add - Hd ) >> 4]; dst[3*stride] = cm[(Ed + Dd ) >> 4]; dst[4*stride] = cm[(Ed - Dd ) >> 4]; dst[5*stride] = cm[(Fd + Bdd ) >> 4]; dst[6*stride] = cm[(Fd - Bdd ) >> 4]; }else{ dst[0*stride] = cm[dst[0*stride] + ((Gd + Cd ) >> 4)]; dst[7*stride] = cm[dst[7*stride] + ((Gd - Cd ) >> 4)]; dst[1*stride] = cm[dst[1*stride] + ((Add + Hd ) >> 4)]; dst[2*stride] = cm[dst[2*stride] + ((Add - Hd ) >> 4)]; dst[3*stride] = cm[dst[3*stride] + ((Ed + Dd ) >> 4)]; dst[4*stride] = cm[dst[4*stride] + ((Ed - Dd ) >> 4)]; dst[5*stride] = cm[dst[5*stride] + ((Fd + Bdd ) >> 4)]; dst[6*stride] = cm[dst[6*stride] + ((Fd - Bdd ) >> 4)]; } } else { if(type==0){ ip[0*8] = ip[1*8] = ip[2*8] = ip[3*8] = ip[4*8] = ip[5*8] = ip[6*8] = ip[7*8] = ((xC4S4 * ip[0*8] + (IdctAdjustBeforeShift<<16))>>20); }else if(type==1){ dst[0*stride]= dst[1*stride]= dst[2*stride]= dst[3*stride]= dst[4*stride]= dst[5*stride]= dst[6*stride]= dst[7*stride]= cm[128 + ((xC4S4 * ip[0*8] + (IdctAdjustBeforeShift<<16))>>20)]; }else{ if(ip[0*8]){ int v= ((xC4S4 * ip[0*8] + (IdctAdjustBeforeShift<<16))>>20); dst[0*stride] = cm[dst[0*stride] + v]; dst[1*stride] = cm[dst[1*stride] + v]; dst[2*stride] = cm[dst[2*stride] + v]; dst[3*stride] = cm[dst[3*stride] + v]; dst[4*stride] = cm[dst[4*stride] + v]; dst[5*stride] = cm[dst[5*stride] + v]; dst[6*stride] = cm[dst[6*stride] + v]; dst[7*stride] = cm[dst[7*stride] + v]; } } } ip++; /* next column */ dst++; } }

  • SEO: Nested List vs List, Split Over Divs vs Definition List

    - by Jon P
    From an SEO perspective which, if any, is better: Option 1: Nested lists with h2 tags <ul id="mainpoints"> <li><h2>Powerful Analysis</h2> <ul> <li>Charting and indicators</li> <li>Daily trading signals</li> <li>Company health checks</li> </ul> </li> <li><h2>World Market Data</h2> <ul> [List Items removed for brevity] </ul> </li> <li><h2>Daily Market Data</h2> <ul> [List Items removed for brevity] </ul> </li> </ul> Option 2: Divs with h2 and lists <div id="mainpoints"> <div> <h2>Powerful Analysis</h2> <ul> <li>Charting and indicators</li> <li>Daily trading signals</li> <li>Company health checks</li> </ul> </div> <div> <h2>World Market Data</h2> <ul> [List Items removed for brevity] </ul> </div> <div> <h2>Daily Market Data</h2> <ul> [List Items removed for brevity] </ul> </div> </div> Option 3: Definition List <dl id="mainpoints"> <dt>Powerful Analysis</dt> <dd>- Charting and indicators</dd> <dd>- Daily trading signals</dd> <dd>- Company health checks</dd> <dt>World Market Data</dt> [List Items removed for brevity] <dt>Daily Market Data</dt> [List Items removed for brevity] </dl> My instincts tell me that semanticaly the pure list options (1 & 3) are the best and that h2 may be more SEO friendly (1 & 2) which would point to option 1 as being the best option. I do love the lean makeup of the definition list but will I take an SEO hit by losing the h2 tags? Before anyone asks, h2 is not valid markup in a dt tag. Are my instincts right with a nested list being the way to go?

  • No Source available

    I am not sure what happened or if I did anything.. Now anytime I try and debug it says no source available on all BCL stuff For example, on a debug.print I get that message with Locating source for 'f:\dd\ndp\fx\src\CompMod\System\Diagnostics\Debug.cs'. • Is jQuery.parseJSON able to process all valid json?

    - by murze
    This piece of valid json (it has been generated using php's json_encode): {"html":"form is NOT valid<form id=\"articleform\" enctype=\"application\/x-www-form-urlencoded\" method=\"post\" action=\"\"><dl class=\"zend_form\">\n<dt id=\"title-label\">&nbsp;<\/dt>\n<dd id=\"title-element\">\n<input type=\"text\" name=\"title\" id=\"title\" value=\"Artikel K\"><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"articleFormSubmitted-label\">&nbsp;<\/dt>\n<dd id=\"articleFormSubmitted-element\">\n<input type=\"hidden\" name=\"articleFormSubmitted\" value=\"1\" id=\"articleFormSubmitted\"><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"submit-label\">&nbsp;<\/dt><dd id=\"submit-element\">\n<input type=\"submit\" name=\"submit\" id=\"submit\" value=\"Bewaar artikel\" onclick=\"this.value='Bezig...';\"><\/dd><\/dl><\/form><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\n\t $(\"#articleform\").submit(function(){\n $.post(\"\/admin\/ajax\/contenttree\/node\/9\/ajaxtarget\/ajaxContainer\", $(\"#articleform\").serialize(), function(html){$(\"#ajaxContainer\").html(html);} );\n\t\t return false;\n\t });\n\n <\/script>","newNodeName":""} is giving jQuery.parseJSON(data) and me a hard time. With this piece of code: alert('start'); alert(data); jQuery.parseJSON(data) alert('stop'); I get a message start and then the data (jsonstring above) is shown. The message "stop" never appears. When I use this json: {"html":"test","newNodeName":""} I've verified that my first big chick of json is valid. Why isn't it processed by jQuery.parseJSON Are there any special characters that don't go well with json?

  • Simple first-child js?

    - by Glister
    Searching for a simple first-child detection via javascript (no framework). It should add some class for the first child of the element. Like a css-hacks for ie, but in javascript and for a html file. Must work similar to :first-child When I say no framework, I mean some code like this: <script type="text/javascript">document.documentElement.id = "js"</script> For example: <div class="terms"> <dl> <dt>Term 1 name</dt> <dd>Term 1 description</dd> </dl> <dl> <dt>Term 2 name</dt> <dd>Term 2 description</dd> </dl> <dl> <dt>Term 3 name</dt> <dd>Term 3 description</dd> </dl> </div> Three <dl>, the first one includes Term 1. This css won't work in IE6, thats why I'm searching for a javascript solution. CSS-hacks are not allowed. .terms dl:first-child { float: right; }

  • Selecting first instance of class but not nested instances via jQuery

    - by DA
    Given the following hypothetical markup: <ul class="monkey"> <li> <p class="horse"></p> <p class="cow"></p> </li> </ul> <dl class="monkey"> <dt class="horse"></dt> <dd class="cow"> <dl> <dt></dt> <dd></dd> </dl> <dl class="monkey"> <dt class="horse"></dt> <dd class="cow"></dd> </dl> </dd> </dl> I want to be able to grab the 'first level' of horse and cow classes within each monkey class. But I don't want the NESTED horse and cow classes. I started with .children, but that won't work with the UL example as they aren't direct children of .monkey. I can use find: $('.monkey').find('.horse, .cow') but that returns all instances, including the nested ones. I can filter the find: $('.monkey').find('.horse, .cow').not('.cow .horse, .cow .cow') but that prevents me from selecting nested instances on a second function call. So...I guess what I'm looking for is 'find first "level" of this descendant'. I could likely do this with some looping logic, but was wondering if there is a selector and/or some combo of selectors that would achieve that logic.

  • DBD::Oracle and utf8 issue

    Hi All, I have a problem where my perl code using the latest DBD::Oracle on perl v5.8.8 throws an exception on me when I try to insert characters like 'ñ'. If I leave NLS_LANG as ‘'AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8' but use ‘Ñ’ the insert will run fine as well.

  • Image swap with a javascript onclick dropdown menu

    - by AzzyDude
    So I've got this code that has an image and when you click it a dropdown menu appears. Pretty simple. The code works fine but I'm trying to incorporate an image swap on click and I'm having difficulty. Here's the HTML and the JS (there's some CSS too, but I'll leave that out): HTML: <div id="header"> <dl class="dropdown"> <dt><a href="#"><img src="images/cogwheel_btn.png"/></a></dt> <dd> <ul> <li><a href="#">Favorites</a></li> <li><a href="#">History</a></li> </ul> </dd> </dl> </div> JS: $(document).ready(function() { $(".dropdown img.flag").addClass("flagvisibility"); $(".dropdown dt a").click(function() { $(".dropdown dd ul").toggle(); }); $(".dropdown dd ul li a").click(function() { var text = $(this).html(); $(".dropdown dt a span").html(text); $(".dropdown dd ul").hide(); $("#result").html("Selected value is: " + getSelectedValue("sample")); }); function getSelectedValue(id) { return $("#" + id).find("dt a span.value").html(); } $(document).bind('click', function(e) { var $clicked = $(e.target); if (!$clicked.parents().hasClass("dropdown")) $(".dropdown dd ul").hide(); }); $("#flagSwitcher").click(function() { $(".dropdown img.flag").toggleClass("flagvisibility"); }); });? I've tried adding lines like ("dt").empty(); and then ("dt").html("new_image") but it causes the dropdown functionality to stop working. Anyone any ideas?

  • Guide to Downloading Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Products

    - by Daniel Mortimer
    IntroductionThe idea of writing a blog about downloading software seems a bit strange .. right? After all, surely just give me the web download link and away I go!? Unfortunately, life is not so simple if you are a DBA or Systems Administrator tasked with staging Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g products for your chosen business technology stack. Here are the challenges: Oracle Fusion Middleware is not a single product, it is a family of products - a media pack with many many "disks" - which ones do I pick? Are the products I pick certified / supported on my chosen platform? Which download site do I use? I need to be on the latest and greatest - how do I get hold of the latest product patch set? The purpose of this blog is to give you a roadmap to get you through these challenges. Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g - A Product SuiteThe first thing to appreciate is that Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g is not a single product. It is a product suite, an umbrella label for many products. Typically you don't download the whole media pack - well not unless you want to stage 124 Parts - a total of 68 Gig  - instead you pick the pieces that are required for your chosen Middleware solution. Therefore, you need to research / understand which products are required to build your solution. In this respect, before you go looking for the software pick and persue the product guide from the table below which matches your situation:  Installing a New / Vanilla FMW 11g architecture Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Planning Guide 11g  Upgrading Oracle Application Server 10g to FMW 11g Oracle Fusion Middleware Upgrade Planning Guide 11g  Patching an existing FMW 11g architecture Oracle Fusion Middleware Patching Guide 11g Certification Information Ok, so now you have an idea of what Fusion Middleware products you need. It's time to check whether these products are certified against your chosen platform. There are two places to find this information:My Oracle Support Certification Tab PageFigure 1.1 My Oracle Support Certification Tab Page - "Search on SOA Suite" Figure 1.2 My Oracle Support Certification Tab Page - "SOA Suite Search Result" The FMW 11g Certification Central Hub (in the format of xls spreadsheet)Figure 2: Screenshot of FMW 11g Release 1 Certification xls spreadsheet Hints / Tips: Fusion Middleware 11g certification information has only recently been added into the Certification Tab page and I think it is the more friendly way to access the information. However, due to some restrictions with the Certification Tab page interface some of the more, let's say obscure certification information, is still to be only found in the Certification spreadsheet. Be aware that to find certification information via the My Oracle Support Certification Tab page you must enter the FMW 11g product name e.g. "Oracle SOA Suite". Do NOT enter "Oracle Fusion Middleware". The certification information does not exist at this product suite level.  For example, if you are building a solution which includes Oracle SOA Suite Oracle WebCenter then you will have to look up the certification information for each product in turn.After choosing the product name, select the latest patch set version. This will not only tell you whether your chosen product is available at that patch set version but provide the certification information relevant to that version.  If the product is not available under the latest patch set version, seek the information under previous patch set versions. Important: Make a careful note of the Oracle WebLogic Server version which is certified with your chosen product and patch set version. Oracle WebLogic Server is the core component of a Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g home. It is important therefore to ensure later on that you download the version of Oracle WebLogic Server which is compatible and certified with your chosen product and patch set version.Also - sorry to state the obvious, but please do not take certification information from the screenshots above. The screenshots are only good for the time they were entered into the blog. To ensure you have the latest information, interactively look up the certification details. For more information about finding certification information, bookmark and readMy Oracle Support Certification Tool for Oracle Fusion Middleware Products [Doc ID 1368736.1]How to Find Certification Details for Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g [Doc ID 431578.1] Downloading the Software Now you should be ready to download the software. There are two download locations Oracle Software Delivery Cloud (formerly known as E-Delivery)Figure 3 - Screenshot of Fusion Middleware Download from Delivery CloudOracle Fusion Middleware Download Page on Oracle Technology NetworkFigure 4 - Screenshot of OTN Product Download Screen Hints / Tips: Your choice of download location should be primarily driven by your licensing needs. Take note of the wording on the OTN site - to quote:"The downloads below are provided for evaluators under the OTN License Agreement. Licensed customers should download their software via our Oracle Software Delivery Cloud site, which offers different license terms."However, it has to be said that the presentation of the most of the product download pages on OTN does make the job easier. The Software Delivery Cloud provides you with a flat list of the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g media pack. You have to know what you are looking for and pick out the right pieces :-( The OTN product download pages present not only the download for the product you want but also its dependencies such as WebLogic Server and Repository Creation Utility. So, even if your licensing requirements drive you towards the cloud, it is still worthwhile checking the OTN pages if only as a guide to what you need to pick out from the flat list found on the cloud site. Latest Patch Set This is an area which may cause you confusion - especially if you are more familiar with the Oracle Application Server 10g patching story. From Patch Set 11.1.1.6 and higher, the majority of FMW 11g products (N.B there are exceptions) provide installers which can be used both to update existing FMW 11g product installs or build brand new ones. This is good news because, unless you are dealing with one of the exceptions, it means you do not have to download base software and a patch set. At the time of the writing, the two significant exceptions are: Portal/Forms/Reports/Discoverer 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.x) Identity Access Management 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.x) The other key message here is ensure you are grabbing a version of Oracle WebLogic Server which is compatible with your chosen product patch set version. Get this wrong and you will hit errors / problems at AS Instance Configuration Time.The go to place is this document - Oracle Fusion Middleware Download, Installation, and Configuration Readme FilesIn fact, this README document pretty much takes you through what I have blogged above. The only thing is you need to know which README to choose, and that's why planning your FMW 11g technology stack and viewing certification information comes into play beforehand. And Finally As the Oracle Fusion Middleware Download, Installation, and Configuration Readme Files states don't forget to check FMW 11g System Requirements FMW 11g Product Interoperability

    Oracle's SPARC T4-2 server achieved World Record performance on Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Financials 9.1 executing 20 Million Journals lines in 8.92 minutes on Oracle Database 11g Release 2 running on Oracle Solaris 11. This is the first result published on this version of the benchmark. The SPARC T4-2 server was able to process 20 million general ledger journal edit and post batch jobs in 8.92 minutes on this benchmark that reflects a large customer environment that utilizes a back-end database of nearly 500 GB. This benchmark demonstrates that the SPARC T4-2 server with PeopleSoft Financials 9.1 can easily process 100 million journal lines in less than 1 hour. The SPARC T4-2 server delivered more than 146 MB/sec of IO throughput with Oracle Database 11g running on Oracle Solaris 11. Performance Landscape Results are presented for PeopleSoft Financials Benchmark 9.1. Results obtained with PeopleSoft Financials Benchmark 9.1 are not comparable to the the previous version of the benchmark, PeopleSoft Financials Benchmark 9.0, due to significant change in data model and supports only batch. The validation process certifies that the journal entries are accurate, ensuring that ChartFields values are valid, debits and credits equal out, and inter/intra-units are balanced. Once validated, the entries are processed, ensuring that each journal line posts to the correct target ledger, and then changes the journal status to posted. In this benchmark, the Journal Edit & Post is set up to edit and post both Inter-Unit and Regular multi-currency journals. The benchmark processes 20 million journal lines using AppEngine for edits and Cobol for post processes. • Improved Performance on PeopleSoft Combined Benchmark using SPARC T4-4

    - by Brian
    Oracle's SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle's PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 combined online and batch benchmark achieved a world record 18,000 concurrent users experiencing subsecond response time while executing a PeopleSoft Payroll batch job of 500,000 employees in 32.4 minutes. This result was obtained with a SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle Database 11g Release 2, a SPARC T4-4 server running PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 application server and a SPARC T4-2 server running Oracle WebLogic Server in the web tier. The SPARC T4-4 server running the application tier used Oracle Solaris Zones which provide a flexible, scalable and manageable virtualization environment. The average CPU utilization on the SPARC T4-2 server in the web tier was 17%, on the SPARC T4-4 server in the application tier it was 59%, and on the SPARC T4-4 server in the database tier was 47% (online and batch) leaving significant headroom for additional processing across the three tiers. The SPARC T4-4 server used for the database tier hosted Oracle Database 11g Release 2 using Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) for database files management with I/O performance equivalent to raw devices. Performance Landscape Results are presented for the PeopleSoft HRMS Self-Service and Payroll combined benchmark. The new result with 128 streams shows significant improvement in the payroll batch processing time with little impact on the self-service component response time. The PeopleSoft HRSS benchmark kit is a Oracle standard benchmark kit run by all platform vendors to measure the performance. It's an OLTP benchmark where DB SQLs are moderately complex. The results are certified by Oracle and a white paper is published. PeopleSoft HR SS defines a business transaction as a series of HTML pages that guide a user through a particular scenario. Users are defined as corporate Employees, Managers and HR administrators. The benchmark consist of 14 scenarios which emulate users performing typical HCM transactions such as viewing paycheck, promoting and hiring employees, updating employee profile and other typical HCM application transactions. All these transactions are well-defined in the PeopleSoft HR Self-Service 9.1 benchmark kit. This benchmark metric is the weighted average response search/save time for all the transactions. The PeopleSoft 9.1 Payroll (North America) benchmark demonstrates system performance for a range of processing volumes in a specific configuration. This workload represents large batch runs typical of a ERP environment during a mass update. The benchmark measures five application business process run times for a database representing large organization. They are Paysheet Creation, Payroll Calculation, Payroll Confirmation, Print Advice forms, and Create Direct Deposit File. The benchmark metric is the cumulative elapsed time taken to complete the Paysheet Creation, Payroll Calculation and Payroll Confirmation business application processes. The benchmark metrics are taken for each respective benchmark while running simultaneously on the same database back-end. Specifically, the payroll batch processes are started when the online workload reaches steady state (the maximum number of online users) and overlap with online transactions for the duration of the steady state. Key Points and Best Practices Two PeopleSoft Domain sets with 200 application servers each on a SPARC T4-4 server were hosted in 2 separate Oracle Solaris Zones to demonstrate consolidation of multiple application servers, ease of administration and performance tuning. Each Oracle Solaris Zone was bound to a separate processor set, each containing 15 cores (total 120 threads). The default set (1 core from first and third processor socket, total 16 threads) was used for network and disk interrupt handling. This was done to improve performance by reducing memory access latency by using the physical memory closest to the processors and offload I/O interrupt handling to default set threads, freeing up cpu resources for Application Servers threads and balancing application workload across 240 threads. A total of 128 PeopleSoft streams server processes where used on the database node to complete payroll batch job of 500,000 employees in 32.4 minutes. • How to run a local and external website on same computer with 2 NIC's, 2 Routers and 3 seperate networks?

    - by CandN
    Hello and hopefully I can get some answers to my question, though I think I'm making it more complicated for myself than it has to be. My business is a used auto dealership, and I'm in the process of connecting it to the world - via ethernet from the business server [running Xubuntu] to the ISP's ethernet router/modem, so that I can host our own website (no more than 5-10 people probably visiting at any time - mainly paying their bill), as well as set up a web based internal-intranet site - via DD-WRT Router on the 2nd NIC on the business server - that'll be accessed over Wifi from employees personal devices. On the other end of this is trying to offer free wifi to customers that is completely seperate of the 2 mentioned above networks. Quick Rundown: 1. Web Site for Customers to access. I'm going to use no-ip.org for DNS for the moment being, so I'll have a site that customers can access from anywhere in the world at "mybiz.no-ip.org". This will be forwarded to NIC #1 on the server, possibly at an address like "108.69.." as its being provided an IP from the ISP's modem/router, that is from Time Warner, and they allow NO! configuration options. Web Site for employees to access. I'm trying not to use the server too much as a desktop, only for critical situations, so having a backend thats seperate from the front-facing website is critical. This will be the DD-WRT router hardwired into NIC #2 on the server. This WiFi will be password accessible. Public WiFi for customers. The DD-WRT can seperate networks if I'm correct, I just can't seem to understand how to seperate the 2 and still have internet access on both. I've done it before, but the "Public" wifi (with no password set to connect) kept dropping the connection like a problem was happening that I couldn't figure out. So if I could do a little drawing, this is how it would/should possibly look. ISP -- [Sends Public Facing IP of 108.69.*.1/8] -- ISP Modem Router ISP Modem Router (Ethernet Only) -- [Gives Private IP 108.69.*.2] -- Server NIC #1 Server NIC #1 -- [Gives Private IP 108.69.*.3] -- DD-WRT Router DD-WRT Router -- [DHCP Enabled Giving IP's 172.16.0.0/16] -- Employees Network | | --------- [DHCP Enabled Giving IP's 192.168.1.0/24] -- Public WIFI Hope it's not too confusing, but it anyone could give me some good direct tutorials on how to accomplish this, or if YOU know, then it'll be alot of help. Thanks to all in advance. Need anything else to be explained? Don't hesitate to ask! *Using The LAMP stack with Webmin/VirtualMin -Customer site is located in /var/www2/ -Private Employees site is located in /var/www/ Using no-ip.org's dynamic client updater

  • af:inputSlider doesn't render in popup for FF, Safari and Chrome

    - by Frank Nimphius
    A problem reported on OTN is that the af:inputSlider component of Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.2 doesn't show on all browsers except IE when the slider is added as the sole component in a popup. The problem reproduces with the ADF Faces component demo and I filed bug 14207690. The work around, posted by OTN user "Tses" is to set the inlineStyle property on the slider to table <af:inputNumberSlider ... inlineStyle="display:table;"/>
