All three packages offer a solid array of tools for tracking income and expenses, invoicing, managing payroll, and creating reports. These full-featured and highly mature programs don't come cheap. Acclivity AccountEdge Pro, at $299, is the least expensive; and prices climb if you opt to use common time-saving add-ons such as payroll services, or if you add licenses for multiple user accounts. All three are solid on the basics, but they have distinct differences in style and focus. The more you know about your accounting requirements, the more closely you'll want to look at the software you're thinking of buying. Sage 50 Complete should appeal most to people who understand the fine points of accounting and can use the product's many customization features (especially for businesses that manage inventory). QuickBooks works hard to appeal to newbies who need only the basics and might be intimidated by the level of detail and technical language exposed in the other two packages. At the same time, it also has a slew of third-party add-ons that meet specific needs and greatly expand its capabilities. AccountEdge Pro balances accessibility with a strong feature set at an affordable price. It's especially suitable for businesses that need to provide simultaneous access to multiple users.

• How is it possible that a 4.5gb DVD claims 415gb of contents?

  I am copying a 4.7 GB dvd contents into my local drive but the total size of DVD is being shown as 415 GB!. How is that possible? Because of which it is showing less space (as my drive is of 150 GB) and thus cannot be copied? I am surprised that how a 4.7 GB dvd contains 415 GB data? • Change keyboard mapping (Input Source) from terminal in OS X

  I'd like to change the keyboard mapping from command-line (Terminal) in Mac OS X Lion (10.7). I can manually set it (System Preferences - Language & Text - Input Sources), and there's a nice option that lets me use different input sources for different documents, but I'd like to bind it to a key under zsh to easily swap between Qwerty and Dvorak layouts (I'm learning Dvorak, and having the option to switch easily would be sensational).

However, there are some apps that I have paid for that are only from the iTunes app store where there is no good alternative on Andriod systems (eg. language learning apps with thousands of words, "references" applications). • Use mod_rewrite to force users to homepage when entering a site?

  Is it possible to use mod_rewrite to force all users entering a site (either through a link from another site, or by typing a URL in the address bar) to be redirected to the homepage? From the homepage (or any page within the site), users should then be able to access other pages in the site. But all users would be forced to enter the site through the homepage. Can this be done with mod_rewrite (or without using a scripting language)?

I would also like a section that shows the tasks for today and another for high-priority tasks coming up within a week. I have not programmed in Excel before. I know Python and JavaScript, but want an Excel solution that runs inside Excel (maybe using VBA, the Excel programming language). Is this sort of thing possible in Excel?

  Hello, all, I'm having trouble implementing my OpenID provider with DNOA 3.4.3. Everything was going absolutely peachy until I needed AX support as well. I set AXFetchAsSregTransform in the web config, as recommended by Andrew at http://groups.google.com/group/dotnetopenid/browse_thread/thread/5629a24c0a7e8d99. Doing this caused me to get the exception "Sequence Contains More Than One Element" on my decide.aspx page, however, and I haven't been able to get past it. The following line is throwing the exception: Edit: Strangely enough, this is not the line throwing the error anymore. The SendResponse() is now triggering the exception ClaimsRequest requestedFields = ProviderEndpoint.PendingRequest.GetExtension(); ProviderEndpoint.SendResponse() Any thoughts on why this may be? Any help would be greatly appreciated! • jqGrid - Problems opening in jquery tabs (on Firefox and Google Chrome)

  I have developed a very simple MVC app to test out trirand's jqGrid for MVC. The app opens a jqgrid in a jquery tab group and everything is ok with IE. However when I use Firefox jqgrid only opens occasionaly in the first tab (but not under any other tab), and in Chrome my jqgrids dont appear to open under any tab of the group. I'm a bit of an MVC newbie (and have only been testing jqgrid out for a few days), but I know my users will want to use different browsers. Trirand have not come back with any answer so wondered if anyone else had had a similar issue. I have really just implemented jqgrid as per the controllers and model in the sample application on the Trirand site, and then combined it with a straightforward jquery tab group.   I tried to run winpdb.py, but I got an error saying that it could not find wxPython. This is strange to me because I know I have wxPython installed and included in my PYTHONPATH. I can import wx in the Python interpreter.   I got a web site using jQuery, jQuery Tools and some handcrafted JS running performing graphical enhancements. While it's running smooth on FF, Safari and Chrome, IE blocks the script execution : There is nothing particularly more dangerous on this code than, let's say, on Netvibes. Why is even talking about activeX ? I'm using JS. And how can I prevent that ? I don't want my user to click on "I allow this website" to work. It would be like putting a big red absolute DIV reading "Live quick and never come back".

  I´m trying out entity framework included in VS2010 but ´ve hit a problem with my database/model generated from the graphical interface. • Creating an independent draw thread using pthreads (C++)

  Hi all, I'm working on a graphical application which looks something like this: while (Simulator.simulating) { Simulator.update(); InputManager.processInput(); VideoManager.draw(); } I do this several times a second, and in the vast majority of cases my computation will be taking up 90 - 99% of my processing time. What I would like to do is take out the processInput and draw functions and have each one run independently. That way, I can have the input thread always checking for input (at a reasonable rate), and the draw thread attempting to redraw at a given frame rate. My issue is I'm not sure how I can properly do this. How would I properly initialize my pthread_t and associated pthread_attr_t so that the thread runs without blocking what I'm doing? Any help or even a link is appreciated, thanks!

• CALayer drawInContext vs addSublayer

  How can I use both of these in the same UIView correctly? I have one custom subclassed CALayer in which I draw a pattern within drawInContext I have a another in which I set an overlay PNG image as the contents. I have a third which is just a background. How do I overlay all 3 of these items? [self.layer addSublayer:bottomLayer]; // this line is the problem [squaresLayer drawInContext:viewContext]; [self.layer addSublayer:imgLayer]; The other 2 by themselves draw correctly if I do them in that order. No matter where I try and put bottomLayer, it always prevents squaresLayer from drawing. The reason I need 3 layers is I intend to animate the colors in the background and custom layers. The top layer is just a graphical overlay.

• Generating a Call Hierarchy for dynamicly invoked method

  Hello, Today's world of dynamic invoke, reflection and runtime injection just doesn't play well with traditional tools such as ctags, doxygen and CDOC. I am searching for a method call hierarchy visualization tool that can display both static and dynamic method invocations. It should be easy to use, light during execution and provide helpful detailed information about the recorded runtime session. Now I guess Callgrind could be considered a valid solution for the family C. What tool / technique could you suggest to create a call graph for both static and dynamic method invocation for JVM based bytecode? The intended end result is a graphical display (preferably interactive) which can show path from main() to each method that was invoked. During research for this post I stumbled upon javashot, it seems that this is the kind of approach I'm aiming at, I would prefer that this would be integrated into a kind of profiler or alike which than can be used from within my IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans and alike). • C# Progressbar is not updated accurately in Vista or Windows7

It works fine in XP. But in Windows7 or Vista when the progress value is set to say 100 but the graphical progress is not 100! Searching some threads found that its for animation lag in Vista/Windows7. How to get rid of this thing? I don't want to loose the look and feel of Vista/Window7 using: SetWindowTheme(progressBar1.Handle, " ", " ");

• Can I directly use JAVA-sourcecode directly in SCILAB, or Is there another way to connect both?

  Hi, a friend of mine uses SCILAB for doing his mathematicall "homework" for his studies and he told me, that it should be possible to use JAVA-sourcecode diretly in SCILAB. The background is that I presented my current JAVA project and I would like to plot this in 3d, but I haven't done graphical output so far. And he proposed to let SCILAB do the 3d plotting, because there are some ready to use plot scemes implented. But he couldn't tell me how to achive this, so that's why I'm here :). So my first question is, IF this is possible to directly use JAVA-Source code in SCILAB or at least to some kind of connection between both? And how this is done! :) Thank you in advance, Andreas

• My C#.NET application is running slower when the exe is located on the network

  Hi, My C#.NET application is running much slower when the exe is located on the network. And I'm talking about everything, even the graphical dispay is slower. For example: when a form is already loaded, if I unplug my network cable and minimize and maximize the window, it takes a very long time to redraw itself. I'm using framework .NET 3.5 SP1. Any idea on the cause? My hypothesis so far: I'm missing some options when building the app? my corporate antivirus checks more stuff because the exe is on the network the cache of Windows XP SP3 doesn't work the same way when the exe is on the network the server is a Novell server: maybe this does change something ?
