• Javascript - how to change elements content inside a page when using iframes, using dom, not jquery

  Hello all, I have this iframe and as u can see it call a js function with the onload trigger. <iframe name="top" id="top" width="99%" height="20%" src="top.htm" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" onload="log_in()"></iframe> What i need to do is to effect the element inside "top.htm" (change innerHTML and stuff like that) from that function. But the problem is that the funnction does not recognize the elements of the "top.htm" page, only the ones in index.htm (the page with the iframes). p.s. i have to use DOM and i have to use iframes. Any one knows how to do that? 10x :-)

• Using CSS, how can I make overflow:visible; contents overlap adjacent <td> cells?

  I have the following CSS style code for my table: td { overflow: hidden; white-space:nowrap; } td:hover { overflow: visible; } However, when I hover over a <td> element whos contents (text) are hidden, the result is that the contents become visible but are behind the content of the adjacent cell (right side). I do not think that z-index can be applied to table cell elements, so is there a CSS attribute that I can specify within my td:hover style which will make the content of my <td> tag overlap the content in adjacent cells?

• Linq to xml not able to add new elements

  We save our xml in a "text" field in the database. So first I check if it exist any xml, if not I create a new xdocument, fill it with the necessary xml. else i just add the new element. • PHP DOMXml XPath of recursive Xpointer

  My xml document reflects an Object. as referential Recursion is possible in objects and arrays. I need to reflect that in reproduced XML Structure too. Currently I am using Unique IDs to identify each node separately and a node like <recursion refer="IDREF"> and specifying the ID of the referenced Element. But in This way I need My Own Custom XPath resolver cause I want to let the users go deeper into the recursive node through the Identifying IDREF (Hope I am able to make you understand). So is there any better/liteweight solution ?? might be XPointer or XLink (I am not sure). Any help ??

  Basically, I am looking for a java library that will take this: <foo><bar> </bar><baz>yadda</baz></foo> And pretty print it to this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <foo> <bar> </bar> <baz>yadda</baz> </foo> e.g. preserving whitespace AND blank elements The closest I have got was with dom4j like so: OutputFormat format = OutputFormat.createPrettyPrint(); format.setTrimText( false ); However, this does not honor the whitespace unless the element contains other character data. I'm not opposed to writing something on my own, but I would think this has already been done, why reinvent the wheel?

  Hello! I'm developing a Genetic Algorithm in python were chromosomes are composed of strings and integers. To apply the genetic operations, I want to convert these groups of integers and strings into bit strings. For example, if one chromosome is: ["Hello", 4, "anotherString"] I'd like it to become something like: 0100100100101001010011110011 (this is not actual translation). So... How can I do this? Chromosomes will contain the same amount of strings and integers, but this numbers can vary from one algorithm run to another. To be clear, what I want to obtain is the bit representation of each element in the chromosome concatenated. If you think this would not be the best way to apply genetic operators (such as mutation and simple crossover) just tell me! I'm open to new ideas. Thanks a lot! Manuel

  I have a rewrite that nginx calls like so: location ~* (css)$ { rewrite ^(.*),(.*)$ /min/index.php?f=$1,/min/$2 last; } And it's used on pages like this: http://domain.com/min/framework.css,dropdown.css Works all fine and dandy, but it's not scalable. Adding another element to the URL means I have to directly edit the nginx config. Ideally, I'd like to have nginx rewrite according to how many comma-delimited parameters are passed through the URL, rather than setting a fixed amount in the config. Is this possible?

  Hello, I am trying to position an Absolute DIV using Jquery, depending on where the user is clicking on the page. At the moment this works just great $('#window').css('left', jsEvent.pageX); $('#window').css('top', jsEvent.pageY); This positions the element exactly where my mouse has clicked the screen... Until you scroll down that is. That is why I am trying to achieve something that will take the amount of pixels from the top of the page into account. I thought something like this... $('#window').css('top', jsEvent.pageY + scrollTop()); would do the trick, unfortunately it doesn't work. Any hints? Thanks, Tim

  I would like to be able to place the word "hello" centered on a specific point. I need to do this completely in XAML without extra code. Best I can tell, all the text alignment properties/styles in XAML act on text within some bouding canvas or other element. Since I don't know the length of the text I want to center, I can't center it using my own code. The reason I need to solve the problem entirely in XAML is that I'm not using WPF to create the XAML, I'm writing it directly to an XML DOM. It will then be loaded into a Silverlight or WPF control for display. In most graphic languages, including SVG, which is where my code originated, text can be aligned against a "stationary point" without a bounding box. Any suggestions appreciated

  Hello, I am using the validator plugin of jQuery. By default the error label is added below my form. I want to add it above my form. So what I am doing is adding the code below in the validate(): errorPlacement: function (error, element) { error.insertBefore('form#emailForm'); } The problem is that the error label now is added a lot of times above the form, in every click. • WPF Skin Skinning Security Concerns

  I'm really new to the WPF in the .Net Framework (get that out of the way). I'm writing an application where the interface is very customizable by simply loading .xaml (at the moment a Page element) files into a frame and then mapping the controls via names as needed. The idea is to have a community of people who are interested in making skins, skin my application however they want (much like Winamp). Now the question arises, due to my lack of Xaml knowledge, is it possible to create malicious Xaml pages that when downloaded and used could have other embedded Iframes or other elements that could have embed html or call remote webpages with malicious content? I believe this could be the case. If this is the case then I two options; either I have an automated process that can remove these types of Xaml files by checking it’s elements prior to allowing download (which I would assume would be most difficult) or have a human review them prior to download. Are there alternatives I’m unaware of that could make this whole process a lot easier?

  Im having a little issue with setting up Multi Variant Tests in Google Website Optimizer. I wish to have two tests. One being which is a header banner which appears on every page and the conversion for example would be if the visitor lands on the contact us page. This was very easy to set up. However when I intend to add another test, again this will be on a element which appears on every page and the conversion page is if the visitor lands on the checkout page. But I am now having problems installing the control script. • Justified navigation buttons

  I'm trying to create the primary navigation menu for a website that will have a variable amount of primary menu items. The navigation bar is horizontal and has a width of 738px. I would like to have the leftmost item 18px from the left and the rightmost item 18px from the right edge of the element, with the other menu items spread evenly between them. I'm using a tableless layout. So far I haven't been able to make it work exactly like I want. Setting margin: auto doesn't seem to help, and I can't keep the 18px margin on both sides using a table. One idea was to use text-align: justify but it doesn't justify single lines. Is there a simple or less simple way of doing this, or am I going to have to ask the AD to relax his visual requirements?

  Hi, I am trying to implement a min heap in c++ for a struct type that I created. I created a vector of the type, but it crashed when I used make_heap on it, which is understandable because it doesn't know how to compare the items in the heap. How do I create a min-heap (that is, the top element is always the smallest one in the heap) for a struct type? The struct is below: struct DOC{ int docid; double rank; }; I want to compare the DOC structures using the rank member. How would I do this? I tried using a priority queue with a comparator class, but that also crashed, and it also seems silly to use a data structure which uses a heap as its underlying basis when what I really need is a heap anyway.   I use a Json call to get a list of image addresses, then I add them individually to a div like this. <div id="container"> <img src="A.jpg" alt="" /> <img src="B.jpg" alt="" /> ... </div> Unfortunately the image dimension is not part of the Json information but I do need them for later JQuery DOM interactivity. Do any of you JQuery geniuses know of a code that would flawlessly add the width and height to the individual image elements in the container after they load? I was thinking maybe the code could wait for the images to have a width bigger than 5px then add the new width and height to the element. But I wouldn't know how to go about that and make it work stably. Thank you so much!

• Git on windows, is it truly distributed?

  I am just starting out with git on the Windows platform. I have mysygit installed and bar a few hiccups I am 'git'ing away nicely. However, I must be missing something because I don't understand how two msysgit clients on different Windows machines can push and pull to each other directly? I am a complete linux noob but I think I can see that the ssh thing allows distribution on linux. However, the msysgit client appears just to be additional commands in the windows cmd prompt and there is no windows service element. If I try git clone 'MyMatesPc' who is going to be listening to this request at the other end? I can see that if you have a 'central' server running git on linux (or cygwin), you can share commits by pushing them onto the 'central' repo from one machine, then pulling them down onto another. This effectively means that you are having to use a central server. I don't have a problem with this, but wanted to check that I am not missing anything!

• Searching a set of data with multiple terms using Linq

  I'm in the process of moving from ADO.NET to Linq. The application is a directory search program to look people up. The users are allowed to type the search criteria into a single textbox. They can separate each term with a space, or wrap a phrase in quotes such as "park place" to indicate that it is one term. Behind the scenes the data comes from a XML file that has about 90,000 records in it and is about 65 megs. I load the data into a DataTable and then use the .Select method with a SQL query to perform the searches. The query I pass is built from the search terms the user passed. I split the string from the textbox into an array using a regular expression that will split everything into a separate element that has a space in it. However if there are quotes around a phrase, that becomes it's own element in the array. I then end up with a single dimension array with x number of elements, which I iterate over to build a long query. I then build the search expression below: query = query & _ "((userid LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(nickname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(lastname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(firstname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(department LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(telephoneNumber LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(email LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(Office LIKE '" & tempstr & "%'))" Each term will have a set of the above query. If there is more than one term, I put an AND in between, and build another query like above with the next term. I'm not sure how to do this in Linq. So far, I've got the XML file loading correctly. I'm able to search it with specific criteria, but I'm not sure how to best implement the search over multiple terms. 'this works but far too simple to get the job done Dim results = From c In m_DataSet...<Users> _ Where c.<userid>.Value = "XXXX" _ Select c The above code also doesn't use the LIKE operator either. So partial matches don't work. It looks like what I'd want to use is the .Startswith but that appears to be only in Linq2SQL. Any guidance would be appreciated. I'm new to Linq, so I might be missing a simple way to do this. • WPF Binding Collection To ComboBox and Selecting an item

  I've been knocking my head against this for some time now. I'm not really sure why it isn't working. I'm still pretty new to this whole WPF business. Here's my XAML for the combobox <ComboBox Width="200" SelectedValuePath="Type.FullName" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=Type}" Name="cmoBox" > </ComboBox> Here's what populates the ComboBox (myAssembly is a class I created with a list of possible types) cmoBox.ItemsSource = myAssembly.PossibleTypes; I set the DataContext in a parent element of the ComboBox in the code behind like this: groupBox.DataContext = listBox.SelectedItem; I want the binding to select the correct "possible type" from the combo box. It doesn't select anything. I have tried SelectedValue and SelectedItem. When I changed the DisplayMemberPath of the ComboBox to a different property it changed what was displayed so I know it's not completely broken. Any ideas???

When I execute it, here is the output that I get : Hex value is 00 Hex value is 00 Hex value is 00 Hex value is 01 Chunk length is 0 Can any one please help me understand the error here.
