• Why Does .Hide()ing and .Show()ing Panels in wxPython Result in the Sizer Changing the Layout?

  As referenced in my previous question, I am trying to make something slightly wizard-like in function. I have settled on a single frame with a sizer added to it. I build panels for each of the screens I would like users to see, add them to the frame's sizer, then switch between panels by .Hide()ing one panel, then calling a custom .ShowYourself() on the next panel. Obviously, I would like the buttons to remain in the same place as the user progresses through the process. I have linked together two panels in an infinite loop by their "Back" and "Next" buttons so you can see what is going on. The first panel looks great; tom10's code worked on that level, as it eschewed my initial, over-fancy attempt with borders flying every which way. And then the second panel seems to have shrunk down to the bare minimum. As we return to the first panel, the shrinkage has occurred here as well. Why does it look fine on the first panel, but not after I return there? Why is calling .Fit() necessary if I do not want a 10 pixel by 10 pixel wad of grey? And if it is necessary, why does .Fit() give inconsistent results? This infinite loop seems to characterize my experience with this: I fix the layout on a panel, only to find that switching ruins the layout for other panels. I fix that problem, by using sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 0) instead of sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 1, wx.EXPAND), and now my layouts are off again. So far, my "solution" is to add a mastersizer.SetMinSize((475, 592)) to each panel's master sizer (commented out in the code below). This is a cruddy solution because 1) I have had to find the numbers that work by trial and error (-5 pixels for the width, -28 pixels for the height). 2) I don't understand why the underlying issue still happens. What's the correct, non-ugly solution? Instead of adding all of the panels to the frame's sizer at once, should switching panels involve .Detach()ing that panel from the frame's sizer and then .Add()ing the next panel to the frame's sizer? Is there a .JustMakeThisFillThePanel() method hiding somewhere I have missed in both the wxWidgets and the wxPython documents online? I'm obviously missing something in my mental model of layout.   I have been looking for a way to define an autoincrement data type in Oracle and have found these questions on Stack Overflow: Autoincrement in Oracle Autoincrement Primary key in Oracle database The way to use autoincrement types consists in defining a sequence and a trigger to make insertion transparent, where the insertion trigger looks so: create trigger mytable_trg before insert on mytable for each row when (new.id is null) begin select myseq.nextval into :new.id from dual; end; I have some doubts about the behaviour of this trigger: What does this trigger do when the supplied value of "id" is different from NULL? What does the colon before "new" mean? I want the trigger to insert the new row with the next value of the sequence as ID whatever the supplied value of "new.id" is. I imagine that the WHEN statement makes the trigger to only insert the new row if the supplied ID is NULL (and it will not insert, or will fail, otherwise). Could I just remove the WHEN statement in order for the trigger to always insert using the next value of the sequence?

  I have an ASP.NET application using an entity framework model.   Hi, I'm having problems getting the data model of a HtmlDataTable to be correctly updated by JSF 2.0 and Facelets. I have added some logging to the decode() method of my custom component and I can see that the parameters entered by the user are being posted back with the request, however these parameters are not used to update the data model. Why does the test case with columns declared in the facelet page works correctly (ie the data model is correctly updated by JSF) where the same does not happen when the columns are created at runtime using the encodeBegin() method? Is there any method I need to invoke or interface I need to extend in order to ensure the data model is correctly updated? I am using this test case to address the issue that is appearing in a much more complex component, therefore I can't achieve the same functionality using a facelet composite component. Please note that this has been done using NetBeans 6.8, JRE 1.6.0u18, GlassFish 3.0. Thanks for your help.

I have a dynamic list of data, which i try to display in the HTML Table format using h:dataTable (the bounded value is an arrayList). The table has got a radio button for each row it displays (boolean w/ h:selectOneRadio ) now when i select the radio button in one of these rows, i want to get the values of the row that is selected for which i try to use binding attribute. But i get Row Unavailable exception - is my approach wrong? any suggestions?

• Scala Actors with Java interop to underlying COM libraries

  I'm working on a JVM project which uses ESRI components (COM based, wrapped with JIntegra.) The client has requested the JAR files we produce work on the JVM and be accessible to Java code. I'd like to use Scala but I'm worried about how well the library will play with Scala's actors. Particularly I'm worried about the different mechanisms COM and Java employ to pass objects from one thread to another. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will they play nice? Edit: for clarification I noticed that when performing I/O on the ESRI DB that the CPU utilization is roughly 15%. I'd like to read each row and pass that row over to another actor for parsing. Then I could have several threads reading from the DB at once. The problem is that each row retrieved using ESRI's library is actually a Java wrapped COM object.

This is found in jquery.autocomplete.js and it reads the same in firefox and doesn't cause the error, so i don't really want to change this if at all possible. any advice would help thanks!

  I'm using Python and its MySQLdb module to import some measurement data into a Mysql database. The amount of data that we have is quite high (currently about ~250 MB of csv files and plenty of more to come). Currently I use cursor.execute(...) to import some metadata. This isn't problematic as there are only a few entries for these. The problem is that when I try to use cursor.executemany() to import larger quantities of the actual measurement data, MySQLdb raises a TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting My current code is def __insert_values(self, values): cursor = self.connection.cursor() cursor.executemany(""" insert into values (ensg, value, sampleid) values (%s, %s, %s)""", values) cursor.close() where values is a list of tuples containing three strings each. Any ideas what could be wrong with this? Edit: The values are generated by yield (prefix + row['id'], row['value'], sample_id) and then read into a list one thousand at a time where row is and iterator coming from csv.DictReader.

• How do I show a user's credit based on their session

  Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database.   I have a LINQ-2-Entity query builder, nesting different kinds of Where clauses depending on a fairly complex search form. Works great so far. Now I need to use a SQL Server fulltext search index in some of my queries. Is there any chance to add the search term directly to the LINQ query, and have the score available as a selectable property? If not, I could write a stored procedure to load a list of all row IDs matching the full-text search criteria, and then use a LINQ-2-Entity query to load the detail data and evaluate other optional filter criteria in a loop per row. That would be of course a very bad idea performance-wise. Another option would be to use a stored procedure to insert all row IDs matching the full-text search into a temporary table, and then let the LINQ query join the temporary table. Question is: how to join a temporary table in a LINQ query, as it cannot be part of the entity model?

  What is the best way to store user relationships, e.g. friendships, that must be bidirectional (you're my friend, thus I'm your friend) in a rel. database, e.g. MYSql? I can think of two ways: Everytime a user friends another user, I'd add two rows to a database, row A consisting of the user id of the innitiating user followed by the UID of the accepting user in the next column. Row B would be the reverse. You'd only add one row, UID(initiating user) followed by UID(accepting user); and then just search through both columns when trying to figure out whether user 1 is a friend of user 2. Surely there is something better?

  Right now I am using something like this to delete duplicates in mysql table : delete t2 from my_table1 as t1, my_table1 as t2 where t1.TestCase = t2.TestCase and t2.id > t1.id; say I have a structure like this : ID TestCAse Result 1 T1 PASS 2 T2 FAIL 3 T3 FAIL 4 T3 PASS now, in the above case T3 is duplicate entry, and if I use the SQL that I mentioned above, it would delete 4th row where the result is PASS, but this is the row that I want to keep and I want row 3 to get deleted which is FAIL. Any help please? Thank you.

  I have an excel file. I wanted to pull the data from excel file to SQL Server table. And the data is successfully transferred.In the excel file, I removed a text from one column named "Risk" from one row.The text was lengthy one.now the package execution fails at the source ie from the excel file. The errors are shown as "[Audit [1]] Error: There was an error with output column "Risk" (100) on output "Excel Source Output" (9). The column status returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE"." and "[Audit [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR. The "output column "Risk" (100)" failed because error code 0xC0209071 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "Risk" (100)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure." the error occurs only when I remove this particular text from this row.

  Take these two lists: List 1 Red Green Blue List 2 Brown Red Blue Purple Orange I'm looking for a way to combine these lists together to produce: List 3 Brown Red Green Blue Purple Orange I think the basic rules are these: 1) Insert on top the list any row falling before the first common row (e.g., Brown comes before the first common row, Red); 2) Insert items between rows if both lists have two items (e.g., List 1 inserts Green between Red and Blue); and 3) Insert rows on the bottom if the there's no "between-ness" found in 2 (e.g., List 2 inserts Orange at the bottom). The lists are stored in a DataTable. I'm guessing I'll have to switch between them while iterating, but I'm having a hard time figuring out a method of combining the rows.   Hello, I am having a strange problem with ie7 (ie8 in compatibility mode). I have div containers where I am updating values using javascript innhtml to update the values. This works fine in Firefox and ie8. In ie7 the values do not update but if a click on the values and highlight them then they update, also if a change the height of the browser then on the next update the values get updated correctly. I have figured out that if I change the position property of the outer div container from relative to static then the updates work correctly. The timestamp in the lower right corner gets updated every 10 seconds. But if you highlight the text in the gray box then the updated timestamp values appears!   Hi all, I've been looking around for a solution to this thing but I haven't found anything similar to what I'm looking for. The thing is that I've got a table filled with data from a database, and what I want is to change the background colour of an specific row depending on a value of the class I'm loading in each row. The thing is that I have to display some data but as the fields to be displayed are quite a lot, I don't have more space to show an status field, so I would like to show the row in red if the status is inactive, and the rest of the rows in the normal color of the blue stylesheet. Is there a way to do that through tablesorter? I'm opened to suggestions, as I'm not sure how to do it. Thank you all in advance, Victor

• Outline view from UITableView

  Hi guys, I need to implement a 1 level outline view out of UITableView. The cells which have children in them will have a '+' symbol and if user taps on it, the cells below it should slide down and the children cells of current selected row should appear. The sliding of cells should be visible and if the user taps '-' button of the already expanded row, the children cells should slide back into the parent. I have tried googling but did not find any pointers. How should I start, should I subclass UITableView? Or should I implement my own view sub-class and handle all the stuff there? I somehow feel it would be easier to sub-class UITableView because it will handle all the row selection for us, but I cannot figure out how to do it. Thanks and Regards, Raj

• What is a good way to animate UIViews inside UITableViewCell after a callback?

  We couldn't find a way to animate UIViews inside a UITableCell as an action from a callback. Suppose in a scenario where you click on a button on the UITableViewCell and it fires off an asynchronous action to download a picture. Suppose further that when the picture is downloaded we want a UIView in the cell to animate the picture to give user a visual feedback that something new is about to be presented. We couldn't find a way to track down the UIVIew to invoke beginAnimation on because the original cell that the user clicked on might now be used for another row due to the nature of cells being reused when you scroll up and down in the table. In other words we can't keep a pointer to that UITableViewCell. We need to find another way to target the cell and animate it if that row is visible and don't animate if the row is scrolled out of range.

• CHtmlView class and focus

  I have an SDI application written in MFC. The frame is divided into 1 row and 2 columns using a splitter window. Below are details of Row and Column (R0C0 means Row#0 and Col#0) R0C0 view is a CFormView with multiple input controls like text box, combo box etc. R0C1 view is a CHtmlView that contains HTML content relavant to the control that has input focus in the R0C0 I am able to update the HTML content and also invoke Javascript functions through my MFC code. Problem: When user clicks on the R0C1, continaing CHtmlView, the focus is now on the html page. I wish to allow the user to tab out of R0C1 using the key board and return back to R0C0. Can you help with this please? The user can obviously click on the R0C0 view using mouse but we have a user who needs to use Keyboard for using this functionality.
