  • Azure Mobile Services with persistent authentication

    I am trying to implement authentication with Windows Azure Mobile Services in my Windows Phone app. I have followed the official tutorials and the authentication works fine. The issue is that, whenever the app is closed and started again, the user has to enter username and password. Since the services only use authentication tokens, the 'Remember me' option on log in page is not likely to work. The official documentation for Windows Azure shows possibility of Single Sign On with the Microsoft account using the Live SDK. The Live SDK provides authentication token in form of string. However, even this token expires in about 24 hours. Moreover, this is restricted to the Microsoft Account only. What are my possibilities if I want to cache the user's identity and enable automatic log in? I have already gone through the article here. User will still have to log in again once the token expires. I have seen apps which require user to sign in only once!

    Hi! Here is a challenging question! Let me first tell you my scenario how am i implementing a solution to a problem. I am reading a log file and displaying it on the JTextArea. Log file is cp037 character coded. I was reading each file as a byte stream or byte array from the log file & displaying it. Anyways, i managed to display the text properly in JTextArea by cp037 character coding. Now, User may select a set of characters in the JTextArea. All i want is the position of first character of the user's selected text, from a nearest special character '+'(its character code in cp037 is 4E), which is prior to the selected text. This character may occur at several places in the JTextArea. In simple sentence, i want the first character location(of user selected text) from nearset '+' which should be occuring prior to the user's selected text. PS: cp037 is a type of character encoding scheme which is created by IBM & used for IBM Mainframes. Please fell free to ask me if the question is not clear...:-

    I have a web application developped in J2EE 1.5 with Spring framework. Application contains "dashboards" which are simple pages where a bunch of information are regrouped and where user can modify some status. Managers want me to add a logging system in database for three of theses dashboards. Each dashboard has different information but the log should be traced by date and user's login.   • Creating android app Database with big amount of data

    Hi all, The database of my application need to be filled with a lot of data, so during onCreate(), it's not only some create table sql instructions, there is a lot of inserts. The solution I chose is to store all this instructions in a sql file located in res/raw and which is loaded with Resources.openRawResource(id). It works well but I face to encoding issue, I have some accentuated caharacters in the sql file which appears bad in my application.     Has anyone had any luck using the swiSCSI driver on ESXi? Following the instructions from VMWare.com I get to the point where I have the iSCSI HBA showing up but no LUNs/targets are showing up. The iSCSI target is running on Solaris 10 update 5 and works with other initiators fine. The ESXi initiator (from the logs) sees the targets but just logs in and out of them every 2 - 5 seconds. We're using unauthenticated discovery, and over and over in /var/log/messages I see: iSCSI: bus 0 target 0 trying to establish session 0xb203f90 to portal 0, address 10.1.100.9 port 3260 group 1 iSCSI: bus 0 target 0 establish session 0xb203f90 #4848 to port 0, address 10.1.100.9 port 3260 group 1, alias data/ESXi iSCSI: session 0xb203f90 dropping after receiving unexpected opcode 0x60 iSCSI: session 0xb203f90 to data/ESXi dropped iSCSI: session 0xb203f90 to data/ESXi waiting 2 seconds before next login attempt The only other thing that seems out of wack is that my 'Recent Tasks' pane keeps filling with 'Browse Diagnostic Manager' events and /var/log/vmware/hostd.log is filled with messages like this up to two times per second: [2008-09-19 16:05:57.901 'TaskManager' 196621 info] Task Created: haTask-ha-host-vim.DiagnosticManager.browser-776 [2008-09-19 16:05:57.094 'TaskManager' 196621 info] Task Completed: haTask-ha-host-vim.DiagnosticManager.browser-766 Any help would be appreciated.

    I need to test a two-stage login system which first asks for your email address and password and then presents the user with two select lists containing [a-zA-Z0-9]. The labels beside the drop down's are of the form 'Select character X from your security phrase', where X is a random character index from a known security phrase. I'd rather not stub the code for an acceptance test, so is it possible to write a matcher in cucumber which will, given that we know the whole phrase, select the required character in each of the two lists?   • Keeping track of dependency revisions

    I have a project with several dependencies that are in various repositories. Each time I commit changes to my project, I make sure I write the revision numbers of all the dependent repositories so that in the event I ever have to come back to this revision (let's call it 5), I can immediately know which revisions of the dependent repositories revision 5 is guaranteed to work with, update the dependencies to the specified revisions, compile and run the project. So for example if I have: Dep1 @ Revisions 10 Dep2 @ Revisions 20 Dep3 @ Revisions 10 Proj @ Revisions 35 And let's say that when Proj was on revision 17, the Dep1 revision was 5, Dep2 revision was 13 and Dep3 revision was 3. So in my SVN logs, I recorded something like this: !! Works with Dep1 Rev 5, Dep2 Rev 13, Dep3 Rev 3 To me this seems primitive and makes me believe that there is a better way to do it. Now in one of my other questions, Ivy Dependency Manager has been recommended. I have not looked at it in detail yet (seems complicated and yet another thing I must learn). To me it seems like the log of SVN (and Mercurial etc.) could have been split into Log and Dependencies (if any) where the latter could be switched off if there were no dependencies (unless of course I am unaware of an easier/better solution). This would allow for a cleaner log that maybe even warned at each new commit to check the previously defined dependencies again and make sure they have not changed. So, I was wondering how everyone manages this situations and if you have any tips, techniques, programs, suggestions that you can offer. Thank you.

  • Wait between tasks with SingleThreadExecutor

    I am trying to (simply) make a blocking thread queue, where when a task is submitted the method waits until its finished executing. The hard part though is the wait.   • Why does JavaScript's getElementsByClassName provide an object that is NOT an array?

    I'm trying to get a list in JavaScript (not using jQuery) of all the elements on the page with a specific class name. I therefore employ the getElementsByClassName() function as follows: var expand_buttons = document.getElementsByClassName('expand'); console.log(expand_buttons, expand_buttons.length, expand_buttons[0]); Note that I have three anchor elements on my page with the class 'expand'. This console.log() outputs [] 0 undefined Next, for kicks, I threw expand_buttons into its own array as follows: var newArray = new Array(expand_buttons); console.log(newArray, newArray.length); This suddenly outputs [NodeList[3]] 1 and I can click through the nodelist and see the attributes of the three 'expand' anchor elements on the page. It's also worth noting that I was able to get my code working in a w3schools test page. It may also be of note that my use of document.getElementsByName actually does output (to the console) an array of elements, but when I ask for its length, it tells me 0. Similarly, if I try to access an array element using array_name[0] as normal, it outputs 'undefined', despite there clearly being an element inside of an array when I print the object to the console. Does anybody have any idea why this might be? I just want to loop through DOM elements, and I'm avoiding jQuery at the moment because I'm trying to practice coding with vanilla JavaScript.     I read through this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/741345/how-do-i-implement-direct-identity-based-openid-authentication-with-zend-openid Why does it look so complicated to implement? IMO, it's just to send request to a remote site and retrieve the response. What's the problem those OpenID libraries are dealing with?
