  • JQuery+Java setting field value with val() + single quote

    I have a problem setting the value of a textarea element with jquery's val(). Basically, I have a JSP file which receives a string parameter called 'text'. Java code: String text = (String) request.getParameter('text'); Now I want my textarea element to receive this text: Javascript code: $('#textarea_id').val('<%=text%>'); It works when my text doesnt contain quotes single quotes (and possibly other chars). For example, for text = test' this error happens: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ILLEGAL $('#textarea_id').val('test''); I hope you guys understand. I need a way to encode this value... i tried using escape so the quote is replaced by %27, but after unescaping its replaced again and the error happens. Thanks!

    I want to trigger event just right after I stop typing (not while typing) characters in my input textbox. I've tried with: $('input#username').keypress(function() { var _this = $(this); // copy of this object for further usage setTimeout(function() { $.post('/ajax/fetch', { type: 'username', value: _this.val() }, function(data) { if(!data.success) { // continue working } else { // throw an error } }, 'json'); }, 3000); }); But this example produces a timeout for every typed character and I get about 20 AJAX requests if I type-in 20 characters. On this fiddle I demonstrate the same problem with a simple alert instead of an AJAX. Is there a solution for this or I'm just using a bad approach for this?

    I have this XSLT: <xsl:strip-space elements="*" /> <xsl:template match="math"> <img class="math"> <xsl:attribute name="src">http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?<xsl:value-of select="text()" /></xsl:attribute> </img> </xsl:template> Which is being applied to this XML (notice the line break): <math>\text{average} = \alpha \times \text{data} + (1-\alpha) \times \text{average}</math> Unfortunately, the transform creates this: <img class="math" src="http://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?\text{average} = \alpha \times \text{data} + (1-\alpha) \times&#10;&#9;&#9;&#9;&#9;&#9;\text{average}" /> Notice the whitespace character literals. Although it works, it's awfully messy. How can I prevent this?

    My CMS system allow people to post some swf on the homepage, however, sometime there is video which is included in swf, not two files swf+flv. When the swf video load, it near used up the bandwidth and so the page seems not response for a while ... Can I use jQuery to control all the swf in a page that they load after the others done or maybe just load it after 3s or what? Thanks!!

    I need to set the size of an absolutePanel regarding to its child size, but the getOffset* methods return 0 because (i think) the child as not been displayed yet.   • In Safari, using jQuery a Form Input Text Field does not receive focus after alert is displayed. Why

    I have an ASPX web form. I use jQuery to simply my Javascript. I use a Javascript validation script to validate each of the form fields' values. If an error occurs, I popup an alert with an error message. Then I transfer focus to the underlying element. Here are examples I have tried. Using jQuery: var Form_FieldDef = function(name) { this.name = name; this.SetFocus = function() { $('#' + this.name)[0].focus(); } this.Validate = function() { var isvalid = true; if ( $.trim($('#' + this.name).val()) == '') { alert("Your entry is empty"); this.SetFocus(); isvalid = false; } return isvalid; } } This works on IE7, IE8, Opera, Chrome, and Firefox. It does not work on Safari 4 on PC. I don't have a Mac. So I changed the SetFocus method to this. this.SetFocus = function() { var fld = document.getElementById(this.name); if (fld != null) fld.focus(); } This works on IE7, IE8, Opera, Chrome, and Firefox. It does not work on Safari 4 on PC. I stepped through the code with VS 2008 debugger, and I'm calling the focus method on the underlying element.

Find it wright now! $sed -n 's/find/replace/w teste1' teste $cat teste1 I have to replace something This is hard to replace... If I try to save to the same file like this: $sed -n 's/find/replace/w teste' teste or: $sed -n 's/find/replace/' teste > teste The result will be a blank file... I know I am missing something very stupid but any help will be welcome.   • Matching up text in 2 different columns in a table?

    Hey guys, I have recently been working on a pastebin script (for fun) and I've come across a problem that I can't seem to solve in CSS. I have a table with 2 columns. 1 column is used to display the line numbers and the 2nd column is used to display the code. I can't seem to get the numbers match up with the lines in the code so it looks all weird (example: www.zamnproductions.com/paste.php?id=32).     Hi there Suppose I have a database containing 500,000 records, each representing, say, an animal. What would be the best approach for parsing 140 character tweets to identify matching records by animal name? For instance, in this string... "I went down to the woods to day and couldn't believe my eyes: I saw a bear having a picnic with a squirrel." ... I would like to flag up the words "bear" and "squirrel", as they appear in my database. This strikes me as a problem that has probably been solved many times, but from where I'm sitting it looks prohibitively intensive - iterating over every db record checking for a match in the string is surely a crazy way to do it. Can anyone with a comp sci degree put me out of my misery? I'm working in C# if that makes any difference. Cheers!
