What does WIX's CloseApplication functionality do and how would can the application respond to such

In the WIX setup I've got, when upgrading the application I have set a requirement to close down applications which might hold on to files which needs to be updated: <util:CloseApplication Id="CloseMyApp" Target="[MyAppExe]" CloseMessage="no" Description="!(loc.MyAppStillRunning)" RebootPrompt="no" ElevatedCloseMessage="no" /> The application on the other hand will capture closing down the window with a "user friendly" dialog box where the user can confirm that he or she wants to close down the application. I've experienced problems with the CloseApplication, and one theory is that the dialog box stops the application from closing. So the question is: Could this be a possible problem? If so - how can I have this confirmation dialog box and still behave properly when the installer asks the application to close down? Must I listen to Win32 messages (such as WM_QUIT/WM_CLOSE) or is there a .NET API which I can use to respond properly to these events?

hello, I am a asp.net coder looking forward to the "easiest tutorial on the planet" to understand how to make a JQuery Autocomplete in ASP.NET c# with ArrayList which not just me but every .net idiot can understand for once and forever as im tired of looking up so many tutorials which teach me nothing. WPF ShowDialog returns immediately

Sometimes when I call ShowDialog on an OpenFileDialog Window in WPF, the dialog closes immediately with a return value of false. I'm calling ShowDialog in response to a button click event. I can reproduce this problem using the sample code for OpenFileDialog on MSDN: // Configure open file dialog box Microsoft.Win32.OpenFileDialog dlg = new Microsoft.Win32.OpenFileDialog(); dlg.FileName = "Document"; // Default file name dlg.DefaultExt = ".txt"; // Default file extension dlg.Filter = "Text documents (.txt)|*.txt"; // Filter files by extension // Show open file dialog box Nullable<bool> result = dlg.ShowDialog(); // Process open file dialog box results if (result == true) { // Open document string filename = dlg.FileName; } The problem occurs intermittently when I run my solution in Debug mode from Visual Studio 2008 SP1. It's quite annoying. Is this a known issue? Are there workarounds?

Refresh DOM with jquery after AJAX call

I'm working on a new project http://www.hotwirerevealed.com which reveals / identifies hotels on hotwire.com. After inputting a state and a destination I have a javascript functions that uses jquery's .post method to post. The post request goes to an php page which outputs html, I se jquery's html method to place the content on the page. like so function post(){ $.post("lookup.php", {action: "find", area: area, stars: stars, amenities: amenities, state: $('#state').val()}, function(data){ $("#details").html(data); }); } I have hyperlinks to hotels which I like to use in a light box <a class="hotel" href="http://google.com/search?btnI=1&q=Amerisuites+Northeast+Orlando+(Airport+MCO)">Amerisuites Northeast</a> im trying to use jquery's fancy box but fancy box $(document).ready(function(){ $(".hotel").fancybox({ 'width' : '75%', 'height' : '75%', 'type' : 'iframe' }); }); but it doesn't seem to work, im guessing because jquery doesn't know the element it there? I've tried to use jquery live() method with little success, any help would be appreciated, thanks ahead of time

Machine learning challenge: diagnosing program in java/groovy (datamining, machine learning)

Hi All! I'm planning to develop program in Java which will provide diagnosis. The data set is divided into two parts one for training and the other for testing. My program should learn to classify from the training data (BTW which contain answer for 30 questions each in new column, each record in new line the last column will be diagnosis 0 or 1, in the testing part of data diagnosis column will be empty - data set contain about 1000 records) and then make predictions in testing part of data :/ I've never done anything similar so I'll appreciate any advice or information about solution to similar problem. I was thinking about Java Machine Learning Library or Java Data Mining Package but I'm not sure if it's right direction... ? and I'm still not sure how to tackle this challenge... Please advise. 403 error after adding javascript to masterpage for sharepoint.

I am attempting to add highslide-with-html.js from http://highslide.com/ to my masterpage. I am receiving a 403 forbidden error when I use the provided masterpage. I have placed it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033. Test javascript files such as pirate.js which consists solely of alert("Arr!"); have loaded from the same directory. I have provided the code for the masterpage. Cannot get NLogViewer to receive msgs from local machine

I cannot get NLogViewer to receive msgs from local machine. My machine is Windows 7. I am able to get a remote machine to send NLog messages to my local box and NLogViewer on my local box shows the message fine. But, if I run an app locally, and config NLog to spit messages to my local box, NLogViewer doesn't get the messages. SSH Tunneling from Windows to Linux/Ubuntu

My question is for my girlfriend basicly.... She works at a mall and doesn't do much so she likes to get on myspace and facebook as most girls do and yahoo to check her email. Well she uses her laptop to connect to a wireless network that doesn't allow it.... so I did some research and got putty and connected to my linux box I have here at home and it worked somewhat. My problem is it only views my webpages I have created here on this box it won't go outside of the linux host. I did it like this in putty... port is 1000 and hostname:80 is what I got outa my research then connected after seting up the tunnel bam worked for all webpages on my box but when she puts in www.myspace.com it redirects to my index.php in my var/www and won't travel outside that as I said.. Any help would be much obliged.

Are there alternatives to UltraWinGrid (for C#)?

I've been using the Infragistics UltraWinGrid for a while in a C# project, and while it's very spiffy, it is sometimes a bit heavy to run (and editing it in Visual Studio can be hazardous). I'm looking for a lighter alternative. Looks (always a big plus with Infragistics) are not as important as functionality. Namely, I'm looking for a beefed up DataGridView which: has data binding (duh!) has lock control over editing allows for sub-tables on opening a row can have multiple headers to group columns together (say header 1 is composed of "Group A" and "Group B", and header 2 has various columns under each group) has sorting by column (and can sort numbers properly, even if it does not have a stock method at first) has filtering by column (perhaps the most demanding spec) à la UltraWinGrid/Excel (text field with a way to specify if the filter is equal, not equal, greater, lesser, starts with, ends with, etc). supports check box, text box or data bound list/combo box cells allows cells to be merged (not the control cells of course!) can have events bound to each row (say double click)

How to prevent Excel from wanting to start in Safe Mode?

We have a background process that calls Excel for generation of report spreadsheets. Occasionally, a crash or inadvertent server reboot will occur while Excel is running. The first launch of Excel after the restart brings up the dialog box (paraphrasing here) "Would you like to start Excel in safe mode?" (Yes/No) The issue is that our background app can't handle this dialog box, and acts as if Excel will not start properly, and the background jobs fail as a result. I can find CL switches for starting Excel in safe mode, but I can't find anything that will instruct Excel to always start in normal mode without that prompt dialog. (I don't have access to the other program's code, so I can't make it pass through a "Yes" value if it runs into that box.) Is there a registry hack or some other way I can force Excel into normal mode every time it's called?

I am looking to implement a search text box as follows: When user starts typing in and there are non-zero results, the text box will open up and display the results below it. When the user selects a result, the text box closed, but this time with a down-arrow (like a combobox) so that the user can re-open the list. I suspect what I really need is a combobox with ability to hide/show the down arrow. How do I do this in Flex? Thanks in advance.

Web Deployment Projects for VS2010 on build server failing with Error MSB4086

When I upgraded my Web Deployment Project from VS2008 to the VS2010 beta version, I was able to execute the build locally on my development box. However, when I tried to execute the build on our TeamCity build server, I began getting the following exception: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v10.0\Microsoft.WebDeployment.targets(162, 37): error MSB4086: A numeric comparison was attempted on "$(_SourceWebProjectPath.Length)" that evaluates to "" instead of a number, in condition "'$(_SourceWebProjectPath)' != '' And $(_SourceWebProjectPath.Length) >= 4)". I did install the Web Deployment Project addin on my build server and I did copy over the C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications directory on my development box to the C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\ directory on the build server. Note: My dev box is 64bit and the build server 32bit. I can't figure out why this is behaving differently on the build server than on my dev machine. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Steve

It is working fine and if the user hasn't granted permission before then FB.Connect.showPermissionDialog is displayed, which prompts for the permission. My problem is that on "Granting" or "Skipping" the permission by the user the dialog box doesn't go away. It resides over there and refreshes itself to open the facebook home page inside the box. It has to be forcefully closed by clicking on the X button. Am I doing any thing wrong?

What i want is for the popup for to be posted and the fancy box to be closed. When creating a new IIS web site, how can I add it to an existing application pool?

I have successfully automated the process of creating a new IIS website, however the code I've written doesn't care about application pools, it just gets added to DefaultAppPool. However I'd like to add this newly created site to an existing application pool. Grails easygrid plugin, Datatable implementation

I'm playing with the datatable implementation in the Easygrid plugin and I have to say i love it but I have a question . If i use datatable directly (ie outside of Easygrid) to decorate a table i get a global search box defined above my table . If i use the Easygrid implementation and define my grid in a controller I get filters added for each column but no search box - it is added but then removed somehow either by easygrid itself or some parameter passed to datatable . How can I restore the search box and is this a bug as i would have thought the default implementation of datatable supplied via easygrid should match the default implementation supplied by the vanilla datatable itself? I'm using Grails 2.3.7 and Easygrid 1.6.2 .. Thanks

jList in Scrollpane, seeking and displaying value of selectedIndex

I have a JList inside a Scrollpane. If you click on the list and move the arrow keys up and down it works like you expect, you can move your selection index and display around just fine. Now, what I want to do is basically have a text box and i'm typing in the text box like "comic" and want it to seek to the index of that value. This WORKS just fine. Where the problem is when the value of the list box is below, or above the viewable area. When it is, the selected index seeks, but does not change the position of the scrollable region. However, if I press the up or down arrows and requestFocus() to the list, and move up and down it seeks to the right viewable area. What am I missing to make this happen WITHOUT changing focus. I want to be able to just type in the list all I want and have it show me what is selected. I feel i'm missing something obvious here.

WPF Editable Combobox IsFocused problem

How to stop flash content shine-through JQuery UI Dialog in FF Windows

I'm using the jQuery UI dialog box, in IE & FF on Windows I'm getting underlying flash content shining through the dialog box. I resolved this on IE by enabling the bgiframe option on the jQuery dialog window and changing the bgiframe script to apply to any windows browsers, however I'm still getting the shine-through on FF. Note that I can't know exactly where the flash content will be showing as it is usually flash widgets that users have added to pages, although I have thought about hiding the flash content temporarily while displaying the dialog box - is this the only option left to me?
