  • C# WPF to Embedded programming transition

    I've been learning C# .NET Framework for around 4-6 months (still starting) using some books, and have currently made my way up to Collections and Generics. I'll probably spend the next two months covering the rest up to LINQ and/or Garbage Collections. The thing is, I started to get interested in embedded systems and found out that you can use C# to code it through .NET MF, which mean I wouldn't have to learn C or C++. So, I would like to know if the knowledge I'll have by that time (2 months) will be enough to start working on Embedded (using C# .NET Micro Framework and Netduino) or I should probably see more about plain C# like Multithreading, async and other advanced features ? I want use embedded just as a hobby, at least by now, as I'll still have a long way through university. Although, I'll probably pick it as a career then. Thanks in advance!

    I want to write a module (framework specific), that would wrap and extend Facebook PHP-sdk (https://github.com/facebook/php-sdk/). My problem is - how to organize classes, in a nice way. So getting into details - Facebook PHP-sdk consists of two classes: BaseFacebook - abstract class with all the stuff sdk does Facebook - extends BaseFacebook, and implements parent abstract persistance-related methods with default session usage Now I have some functionality to add: Facebook class substitution, integrated with framework session class shorthand methods, that run api calls, I use mostly (through BaseFacebook::api()), authorization methods, so i don't have to rewrite this logic every time, configuration, sucked up from framework classes, insted of passed as params caching, integrated with framework cache module I know something has gone very wrong, because I have too much inheritance that doesn't look very normal.Wrapping everything in one "complex extension" class also seems too much. I think I should have few working togheter classes - but i get into problems like: if cache class doesn't really extend and override BaseFacebook::api() method - shorthand and authentication classes won't be able to use the caching. Maybe some kind of a pattern would be right in here? How would you organize these classes and their dependencies? New instance of Facebook_Cache gives me all the functionality. Shorthand methods from Facebook_Custom use caching, because Facebook_Cache overwrited api() method. But here is what is bothering me: I think it's too much inheritance. It's all very tight coupled - like look how i had to specify 'Facebook_Custom::api' instead of 'parent:api', to avoid api() method loop on Facebook_Cache class extending. Overall mess and ugliness. So again, this works but I'm just asking about patterns / ways of doing this in a cleaner and smarter way.

  • Make wix installation set upgrade to same folder

    How can I make a major upgrade to an installation set (MSI) built with Wix install into the same folder as the original installation? The installation is correctly detected as an upgrade, but the directory selection screen is still shown and with the default value (not necessarily the current installation folder). Do I have to do manual work like saving the installation folder in a registry key upon first installing and then read this key upon upgrade? If so, is there any example? Or is there some easier way to achieve this in MSI / Wix?     When I installed pdo-pgsql, the extension was installed into /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/ and thus not automatically loaded. In php.ini, I have extension_dir = "/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626" already defined.   • Pecl complies .so extensions for OSX built-in PHP and not MAMP

    I've installed the sphinx binaries and libraries and am now trying to install the PECL sphinx module. My system is running OS X 10.6 with MAMP 1.8.2 installed. I try to install sphinx using the following command: sudo pecl install sphinx The PECL command outputs the following: running: phpize Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20090626 Zend Module Api No: 20090626 Zend Extension Api No: 220090626 The versions above don't match the versions listed when doing a phpinfo(). It seems that PECL is trying to complie against the built-in version of PHP. If I ignore the errors and continue the it will successfully compile and place the sphinx.so file in: /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/sphinx.so when in fact it should be: /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/ I've tried copying the sphinx.so file to the MAMP extensions dir but when I restart apache PHP displays the following warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/sphinx.so I think this is because MAMP is 32bit and the built-in PHP is 64bit so PECL complies for 64bit. I might be completely wrong but I did read this when I goggled on the topic. Does anyone know how to get PECL to map to the MAMP version of PHP instead of the built-in version?

  • Installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7 64-bit

    I'm having a shocking time trying to install SQL Server 2008 on 64-bit Windows 7. When I run setup.exe, I get the following error message: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed. SQL Server 2008 Setup requires .NET Framework 3.5 to be installed Things I've tried: I've checked and double checked. I do have .NET Framework 3.5 installed, with SP1 I've read about a missing Windows Installer 4.5 installation producing the same error. Win7 comes with Windows Installer 5, which hopefully satisfies this requirement, as I've tried to install 4.5 and it won't let me Burning the ISO to DVD and installing from there. Installing on an XP machine using the same ISO. This works, so the ISO must be fine. Considering SQL Server 2005, but it really needs to be 2008 for the project. Update Creating a slipstream version gives the same error Update I could install SQL Server Express, and then SP1, but couldn't upgrade to Enterprise. If you've come across this issue, or know how to fix it, I'd love to know.

    I've been having issues with psexec so I've been migrating to use winrs (part of the winrm system). It's a very nice remoting tool which is proving to be more reliable then psexec. Wuinstall is used to install available windows updates. The two however don't play well together. I'm working on a verity of windows servers 2003, 2008 and 2008r2. Wuinstall behaves the same across all hosts and behaves as expected if executed locally by the same user.   • Uninstall php5 installed from source.

    I have tried to install php5 from source , and it worked... Then for some reason need to install the official packets, so i tried a make uninstall and for my surprise there is such make uninstall... so i tried delete all the installed files by hand. Stop. I have tried reinstall and purge all php related packages via aptitude with not success.   • Trying to install ffmpeg-php and having installation issues.

    I've installed ffmpeg successfully using the ffmpeginstaller 3 series (http://www.ffmpeginstaller.com/download). ffmpeg is working fine without any known issues with bash. The ffmpeginstaller is meant to install ffmpeg-php but it cannot be found and I receive an error when I execute php -v PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/lib64/php/modules/ffmpeg.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Looking at the '/usr/lib64/php/modules/' folder, it doesn't contain the ffmpeg.so file. I've tried to install ffmpeg-php manually but I receive the following error checking for ffmpeg headers... configure: error: ffmpeg headers not found. Make sure you've built ffmpeg as shared libs using the --enable-shared option Should I install ffmpeg with series 4 or 5 of ffmpeginstaller or does someone know how to fix this issue?     We're having an issue on an apache server where every 15 to 20 minutes it stops serving PHP requests entirely. On occasions it will return a 503 error, other times it will recover enough to serve the page but only after a delay of a minute or more. Static content is still served during that time.     I'm trying to get started using Git for Mac, but I receive an error when I try to run the program. I'm new to GitHub and relatively new to Mac. First, I installed Git using the downloadable .dmg file named "git-1.7.12.3-intel-universal-snow-leopard". I ran the .pkg file contained therein and the install seemed to work fine. I'm using a new macbook pro w/ retina. Then I downloaded the Github for Mac installer, "mac_GitHub for Mac 69.zip". When I double-click the file, it shows that there is a single file of type "Application". Double-clicking that application file produces the error: "GitHub cannot be opened because of a problem". Here are the partial details of that error: Application Specific Information: dyld: launch, loading dependent libraries Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/Rebel.framework/Rebel Referenced from: /Applications/GitHub.app/Contents/MacOS/GitHub Reason: no suitable image found.     I have this weird issue on my Mac OS X 10.7.5 /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/include/python2.7/Python.h:33:10: fatal error: 'stdio.h' file not found What caused the above error? This error has been bugging me and i can't install mysql-python as i'm stuck with this step. I'm using Python 2.7.3. Things like Google App Engine ( python ), python script, tornado generally works on my mac. But not mysql-python. I've install MySQL using the dmg image and have copied the mysql folder to /usr/local/ How do i fix this? ======UPDATE====== I've ran the command, and tried to install mysql-python by running sudo python setup.py install.     ASP.net 2.0 app .net 2.0 framework IIS7 I am seeing a large queue of "requests" appear under the "worker process" option. State recorded appear to be Authenticate Request and Execute Request Handles more than anything else. I have amended aspnet.config in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727 (32 bit path and 64 bit path) to include: maxConcurrentRequestsPerCPU="50000" maxConcurrentThreadsPerCPU="0" requestQueueLimit="50000" I have amended machine.config in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG (32 bit and 64 bit path) to include: autoConfig="true" maxIoThreads="100" maxWorkerThreads="100" minIoThreads="50" minWorkerThreads="50" minFreeThreads="176" minLocalRequestFreeThreads="152" Still i get the issue. The issue manifestes itself as a large number of processes in the Worker Process queue. Number of current connections to the website display 500 when this issue occurs. I dont think i have seen concurrent connections over 500 without this issue occurring. Web application slows as the request block. Refreshing the app pool resolves for a while (as expected) as the load is spread between the two pools. Application pool in question FIXED REQUEST have been set to refresh on 50000. Thank you for any help. Scott quick edit to say hmm, my develeopers are telling me the project was built with .net 3.5 framework. Looking at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5 there does not appear to be a ASPNET.CONFIG or a MACHINE.CONFIG .... is there a 3.5 equivalent ? after a little searching apparenetly 3.5 uses the 2.0 framework files that 3.5 is missing. So back to the original question , where is my bottleneck ?

    Hi Yahoo is marking our mail as spam. We are using PHP Zend framework to send the mail. Mail header says that Domain Key is failed. Authentication-Results: mta160.mail.in.yahoo.com from=mydomain.com; domainkeys=fail (bad sig); from=mydomain.com; dkim=pass (ok) We configured our SMTP server (Same server used to send mail from zend framework.) in outlook and send the mail to yahoo. This time yahoo says domainkeys is pass. Authentication-Results: mta185.mail.in.yahoo.com from=speedgreet.com; domainkeys=pass (ok); from=speedgreet.com; dkim=pass (ok) Domainkey is added in mail header on our server which is used by both outlook client and PHP client. yahoo recognize the mail which is sent from outlook and yahoo does not recognize the mail from PHP client. As far as I know, Signing the email is done on the server side with help of domain key. PHP and Outlook uses the same server to sign the mail. But why yahoo handling differently? What I am missing here? Any Idea? Can anyone help me?

Then for some reason need to install the official packets, so i tried a make uninstall and for my surprise there is such make uninstall... so i tried delete all the installed files by hand. Stop. I have tried reinstall and purge all php related packages via aptitude with not success. OS: Debian Squeeze. uname -a Linux desktop 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Jan 10 22:40:40 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux Any idea how to fix that?

  • eAccelerator Issue - Cache Directory Empty.

    Hi all, Hoping someone can give me a hand with this. I've recently installated eAccelerator 0.9.6.1 - On a CentOS LAMP server. Had it working fine, using the /tmp/accelerator as the cache directory. php.ini set up: zend_extension="/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/eaccelerator.so" eaccelerator.shm_size="200" eaccelerator.cache_dir="/var/cache/eaccelerator" eaccelerator.enable="1" eaccelerator.optimizer="1" eaccelerator.check_mtime="1" eaccelerator.debug="0" eaccelerator.filter="" eaccelerator.shm_max="0" eaccelerator.shm_ttl="3600" eaccelerator.shm_prune_period="180" eaccelerator.shm_only="1" eaccelerator.compress="1" eaccelerator.compress_level="9" php -v output: PHP 5.2.12 (cli) (built: Feb 3 2010 00:34:28) Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2009 Zend Technologies with eAccelerator v0.9.6.1, Copyright (c) 2004-2010 eAccelerator, by eAccelerator with the ionCube PHP Loader v3.3.20, Copyright (c) 2002-2010, by ionCube Ltd. I had to remove the cache directory as I was testing something. Remade it, re-set permissions and found that eAccelerator was no longer creating cache files within the folder. I thought it might be down to ownership rights on the folder so chown'd it apache.apache and this made no difference. I recreated the directory in /var/cache instead and editted php.ini to point to the new cache dir location, chmod'd, chown'd etc. and still eAccelerator is not creating any of the cache files in the directory (just empty). Could someone suggest what I might be doing incorrectly here. I've read through numerous pages to try and troubleshoot the issue to no avail. Any help appreciated.
