• ubuntu freezes daily

  I have been using ubuntu daily for about 2 weeks now. I really like it but I have noticed that it freezes daily when I have things like chromium and firefox open or when I start watching videos. I realize these might be memory intensive apps/actions but I doubt that with my comps specs they would cause it to freeze. When I installed ubuntu, I remember that it warned me about installing it in a ext2 partition and not in a ext4 one. Could that be the issue? and is there a way to fix it without reinstalling? edit: specs are, 1.9gb ram & Intel® Core™2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz × 2; ubuntu 12.04x64

Is there any proof or argument that teams become much more productive by adding more people? I am looking for answers that can be supported by facts and references if possible. What I'm thinking about is that existing devs have to teach the new ones (thus losing overall development time), and then the new developers have to study the code (and tasks) before they can become fully productive.

  I deleted the partition which contains the Ubuntu 12.0.4 OS. I have windows one other drive. When I reboot the system, It shows the following. unknown filesystem. grub rescue I read the previous questions about this topic and I tried to install Linux again using usb flash drive but was unable to boot from flash drive. I do not have a DVD ROM... what Shall I do now to boot from windows...? thank you in advance....

• Installed 11.10 on shared drive, when other partition mounted, HDD shown full

  I just partitioned a 500GB HDD 50%-50%. I installed ubuntu 11.10 on one half and copied a load of files onto the other. When I don't mount the other partition, it shows I have used 12.1GB and have about 240GB free. The second I mount the other partition, I can't copy any files over and get a disk full message. There is about 10-20GB Free on the other partition. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

• Upgrade to 11.10 left me with Kmail not working

  On my way from 10.10 to 12.04 I chose to do the step by step (11.04 then 11.10 then 12.04) because I could not figure if I should do that or a direct install of 12.04LTS. After the first step (11.04) all was well. The next day I upgraded to 11.10. Now I seem to have lost my data in KOrganizer and all of my email history in KMail. KMail still has my email accounts but my tree structure of folders is missing as is all of the emails that should be there. Also, when KMail opens I get the following: KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: Failed to fetch the resource collection. Clicking OK closes KMail. KAlarm appears OK and my browser history is still in place as are various data files. What to do??

• How do I remove Skype 4.3 from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (32-bit)

  I installed Skype on my nephew's new Ubuntu 14.04 LTS machine, and now we've decided to remove it. But I'm not able to locate it in my Installed programs section of Ubuntu Software Center. I'm able to call it up by opening the debian package, Software Center opens it up, but where I would normally see the "Remove" button, I have a "Reinstall" button. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to uninstall Skype. Any suggestions? In case you're wondering I used the version of Skype designed for 12.xx, as there was no option available for Ubuntu 14.xx.

  I've been trying for hours to remove ubuntu 12 which is the only OS on my laptop. I don't have a Windows installation there. I've followed various bits of help, including trying to get boot-repair to work (I just get error messages when I try to run the recommended commands). Please can someone tell me how to get rid of ubuntu? It won't recognise my .iso copy of Windows - tries to read the DVD and then just boots ubuntu anyway. The DVD is fine - I can use it on other computers and it's perfectly OK. Frances

• Drives will not show up on PCI RAID card in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

  Computer specs Intel E8200 Dual Core MSI G45M MB Ultra U12-40739 PCI Expansion Card - 2 SATA Internal Ports, 1.5Gbps, RAID 0, 1, JBOD 6 GB DDR2 Q1. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Amahi, for using Grey Hole, last night. The two disc on the raid card do not show up under Ubuntu 12.04LTS but they do show up under grey hole so I know the drives and the raid card are working and there. I need to access them in Ubuntu to format them and place folders on them but I can not see them or figure out how to access them. Q2. Only 4 of the six drives connected to the MB are showing in Ubuntu, but they show as active in grey hole. I also need to access these drives in Ubuntu as this is my storage server. I am new to LINUX so any help you can provide with simple directions will be greatly appreciated . Thank you Mechh69

• Can not login to Normal mode

  I installed ubuntu 12 in my old PC Acer Power Series. After installation i got the Login Screen which appears unusally big. when i logged-in in some fail-safe mode. I got the normal ubuntu running. but if i restart the system i can login using fail-safe mode but i can't login normally. I think the problem must be i don't have a graphic card. Even if i do have one that must be very very low configuration one. Kindly help me with graphic card config if that is the problem with my PC.   I am a very seasoned Delphi developer (over 12 years of experience not counting my Turbo Pascal experience) and was wondering does anyone write games in Delphi? I have seen DirectX API wrappers in Delphi that allow you to program against DirectX (even wrote a simple solitaire game with a friend), but haven't seen anything out there that shows me that I should keep up with Delphi. I just hate to walk away from so much knowledge and Object Pascal language, but I am not seeing much as to a reason to keep going with Delphi. I currently program in C# and thinking about XNA, but it seems to me that the dominating opinion is go C/C++ route with DirectX. Any other Delphi developers out there struggle with this too?   I have the following configuration: sda1 1 GB maybe fat32 (windows recovery partition) sda2 40 GB ntfs(windows drive c) with boot flag sda3 around 100GB ntfs(storage partition) sda4 extended partition:sda5 10 GB ext4 partition sda6 1 GB linux swap I want to make this changes: sda2 30 GB resize(decrease size with 10 GB) sda3 around 100GB(move and maybe decrease size with 4-5 GB) sda4 around 20-22 GB (move and increase size with 10-15GB) sda5 around 20 GB (move and increase size with 10-12 GB) sda6 2 GB (move and increase size with 1 GB) Is it safe to do this operations?Will i lose grub? I will do the changes with gparted on puppy linux live usb. Thanks

• Need some help fixing fonts (11.04 Alpha 3)

  Hi I changed my Application Font and Window Font to something much better looking but it has a few problems. The font is Umpush Light. It's doing this in the software center: http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/8307/workspace1004.png If I increase the font size from 11 to 12, that problem goes away, but then everything is too large. When I increase it this also happens: http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6231/workspace1006e.png It starts moving the text in the search box up, and the "All Applications" drop down gets messed up too. It seems like there is too much padding around the font or something. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

So of course like any other I googled it, got discouraged and forgot about it for a few months. When I was 13 I decided to continue programming, and decided that java would best suit me. Anyways, my problem is that I know how I'm going to make a simple game in my head, but as soon as I click that "New Project" button on eclipse, I'm instantly lost and can't figure out where to start. I can't do much without a tutorial beside me since my mind is so dependent on it.
