Is there a way I can mark a single program so that won't ask me that again? Like, I think it is good that it asks me the first time, but some programs I do launch more often, and I am ok with them making changes and don't want to be asked all the time.

    I have just installed XP Mode on our Windows 7 Computer. I need XP Mode because we have a legacy accounting program that doesn't run in Windows 7. The problem we are having is that when I run the accounting program in XP Mode it starts but then reports a connection problem. I understand that is a problem with the ODBC connection. I there any way that I can correct this? I will really appreciate you help....

    So I have several large text files I need to sort through, and remove all occurrences of lines which contain a given keyword. So basically, if I have these lines: This is not a test This is a test Maybe a test Definitely not a test And I run the script with 'not', I need to entirely delete lines 1 and 4. I've been trying with: PS C:\Users\Admin (Get-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt") | Foreach-Object {$_ -replace "3*Program*", ""} | Set-Content "D:\Logs\co2.txt" but it only replaces the 'Program' and not the entire line.

  • Outlook 2010 Reminder Notification/OneNote Draw Bugs

    Can Outlook 2010 send me reminder alarms when the program is closed? If not, is there an add-on for this? Also, I use OneNote to take class notes, and sometimes, I will use the draw feature. When I close the program and come back to the notebook later, the drawings will shift and be scrambled, making my notes impossible to read and a huge hassle to fix. Has MS released an update other than (KB2288640), 32-Bit Edition to fix this?

  • What happens when you uninstall a per-user installation?

    What happens if an MSI installation is set to install as per-user, and 3 different users log on and each install the app? Will Windows Installer recognise that the same MSI has already been installed into Program Files and therefore it doesn't need to install it again? What happens if one of the 3 users then uninstalls the app while they are logged in? Will Windows Installer recognise that 2 other users still need the app to be installed and therefore leave alone the app folder in Program Files?

  • Display tracert on Google or Bing Maps

    Is there a program of perhaps website that can display a list of ip-adresses on Google or Bing maps? For instance, if I do tracert -d www.youtube.com, I'll get a bunch of IP-addresses, displaying the path my request travelled. I'd think it funny to see this on a map, but I find it hard to enter all these IP-addresses manually. Does anybody know a program that can do this?

  • Pidgin to pidgin, what protocol to chose?

    Hi I and a friend need to start to use some instant messaging and it seem like pidgin is a nice program to use. However it supports quite a lot of different protocols. So my question is witch to choose? Since both parties can use the same program we don't have to use the same protocol as "all the rest", but can focus on what is best to use.     Could anyone explain to me why is it that producers of processors claim that their processor can perform so many thousands (or millions) operations per second and yet typical program (Word, VS etc.) on my machine with 4GB, 3500hz starts with no less than 10 sec. Have to mention that I've just formatted disk and tick any necessary boxes to optimize my machine. So if for example outlook starts in 10 sec I wonder how many millions of operations have to be performed to run such program? Thanks

    Is there a way to (alphabetically or in other way) to sort program list in the Start=Programs menu? When installing / uninstalling programs this menu is added-removed, but not sorted, and sometimes takes time to find a nested program in this list. I have Windows XP, but think the same situation could be applied and on the other versions of Windows.

    I am trying to configure Monit on my local machine to get a taste at how it works, but I have some issues. What I am trying to do is to get any evidence that Monit is up and running correctly and is actually monitoring something. So my /etc/monit/monitrc looks like set daemon 60 set logfile /var/log/monit.log set idfile /var/lib/monit/id set statefile /var/lib/monit/state set eventqueue basedir /var/lib/monit/events slots 100 set httpd port 2812 and allow username:password check process apache2 with pidfile /usr/local/apache/logs/apache2.pid start program = "/etc/init.d/apache2 start" stop program = "/etc/init.d/apache2 stop" if failed port 6543 protocol http then exec "/usr/bin/touch /tmp/monit" If I understand correctly, since apache does not listen on port 6543 (it is just a random number) I should get an error, and as a consequence the file /tmp/monit should be created. So I start monit by sudo service monit start sudo monit monitor apache2 Unfortunately no such file is created. Instead the web console shows an error for apache - execution failed. The log says 'apache2' failed to start. What am I doing wrong? EDIT As suggested in the comments, I ran monit in verbose mode, by monit -vv monitor apache2 (the exact command suggested in the comments failed).   • Scheduled automatic FTP website backup solution?

    I was wondering if there was a way to schedule automatic FTP site backup with any free or open-source software? Clients like FileZilla do not have an automatic backup (ftp download) option. Is there a way to schedule this with any program, by using the windows task scheduler? Or maybe we need to use a macro program like imacro in combination with FireFTP to do the job? Do you think using macro is a feasible and secure(reliable) solution?
