The database 'E:\DB\JOBPERS.MDF' cannot be opened because it is version 655. This server supports version 612 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported. Could not open new database 'E:\DB\JOBPERS.MDF'. CREATE DATABASE is aborted. An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file E:\DB\Jobpers.mdf failed.   I have a table in excel format (2007 but I can save as anything below that, naturally), and I have an SQL Compact Edition 3.5 SP1 Database table with corresponding columns. I simply want to populate the SQLCE table with the data from the excel file. The data consists of strings and integers only. I tried this utility to no avail, I also tried this SQL script but it won't work since BULK INSERT is not supported in SQLCE. I also found this Microsoft tutorial but I am basically clueless when it comes to SQL, providers and the like... Thanks !

Now, all the suggestions on the web indicate that the code was compiled in one version and executed in another version (new on old). However, I only have one version of JRE on my system.   Hi Everyone, I'm trying to learn how to handle audio at a fairly low level with audio queue services. I have been progrmaing in memory managed languages for quite a while, and have just completed the c programing tutorial by vtc (2007). This has left me comfortable with the understanding of pointers and memory allocation, but the apple documention still leaves me wanting for a simpler implenation and explaination. Maybe I need to learn objective c and cocoa better. I have heard that this book is good. Cocoa(R) Programming for Mac(R) OS X (3rd Edition) Could someone suggest a learning path that is going to help me get an better understanding of working with audio and an iphone. I want to be able to play mp3 files back and also alter the pitch of them as they are playing.   I'm designing a Java based web-app and I need a key-value store. Berkeley DB seems fitting enough for me, but there appears to be TWO Berkeley DBs to choose from: Berkeley DB Core which is implemented in C, and Berkeley DB Java Edition which is implemented in pure Java. The question is, how to choose which one to use? With web-apps scalability and performance is quite important (who knows, maybe my idea will become the next Youtube), and I couldn't find easily any meaningful benchmarks between the two. I have yet to familiarize with Cores Java API, but I find it hard to believe that it could be much worse than Java Editions, which seems to be quite nice. If some other key-value store would be much better, feel free to recommend that too. I'm storing smallish binary blobs, and keys probably will be hashes of the data, or some other unique id.

• Visual C# 2008 Express connection to SQL Server 2008 Express problem

  Hi guys, I have a problem with Visual C# 2008 express (SP1) connecting to SQL Server 2008 express. The "Add Connection" window (wherever initiated) doesn't list existing sql server and no option for sql server except a compact edition. Note that, I've got the VWD 2008 express (SP1) on the same machine which shows the window regularly (with SQL server listed) and SQL Server Management studio works fine with the server as well. I've seen other similar posts, did take some advices: reinstalled the VC#, services run ok, etc... but with no success with VC# so far. Again, on the same machine the VWD shows the dialog with sql server option regularly, but VC# shows only 3 options in "Change data source" dialog (1. Microsoft Access Database File (OLE DB) 2.   I am trying to compile a program I took off a cd from a book that uses directx to render 3d objects. when i press compile I get the following error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'dxerr9.h': No such file or directory I am using VC++ 2008 Express Edition and i am running off of Vista. I went to the following folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Include and I was not able to find the header there. Unless I am looking in the wrong place. When I initially installed DX sdk I allowed the installer to put everything in a default location. I am not sure If I am looking in the right places or what.

  Hi there, I'm currently working on a webservice-client for Android. I'm using a Java client library which provides an abstraction for interaction with the service. The client library works on normal machines. However, when I use the classes in my Android project, some calls don't return a result on Android, the background-service stops working at the first of those commands. Wireshark shows a tcp exchange, the server gets the requests. There is no exceptions or anything. Something in the serialization/deserialization semms not to work. I'm using the newest version of Jackson libraries (1.5.3) and the restlet jar in the android edition. Is there any known problems with Jackson and Android? Which code and libraries are compatible with Android? Thanks in advance.

• Good IDE for Mono on Windows

  I would like to develop Mono application for Win/Linux/Mac in C# on Windows. Is there any really good (Visual Studio comparable) IDE for that? The best would be if I could manage Visual C# Express to compile solutions using the Mono compiler. I've found a #develop IDE, which looks very cool and has many features that Express edition of the Visual Studio hasn't (like plugins for TortoiseSVN, NUnit, etc). Hovewer the 3.* versions dropped support for Mono, so you are no longer able to compile solutions using the Mono compiler. There is also a MonoDevelop. I've tried it and it sucks. Not comparable to Visual Studio at all. No WinForms designer, + tons of other missing features. I would just like if they would drop the development of MonoDevelop and build a plugin for #develop instead. Is there any other good enough IDE, or is it possible to make the Visual C# Express or #develop compile the solutions with Mono compiler?

  I am currently working on a page that has a date picker for one of the field. One of the requirements by my client is to prevent the user from editing the field manually. Only the date picker would be possible to be used. (jQuery DatePicker) I had in mind to disable the field and use an hidden field to store the data (disabled from object ton send data on post). This sounds a bit wacky for something that could be done by javascript I'm pretty sure. So the big question, in javascript is it possible to prevent manual edition of a field without stopping datepicker plugin?

• How can the blank space in a C# comboBox be filled as a hint for the user?

  When a comboBox in C# is dynamically populated the comboBox appears blank until the user clicks on it to view the available items in the dropdown. Ideally, I would like to use this blank space (prior to clicking the dropdown) to be used to give the user a hint as to what s/he should do. For example, it might say something like, "Select such-and-such..." Is there a way to do this? I tried setting the Text property, but that didn't do anything. • Large svn external

  I have a project which uses a large library residing in its own repository. Using: Tortoise-SVN, the server is running an enterprise edition of VisualSVN The project itself has the "standard" structure: trunk tags branches In each branch, tag, and trunk is the library, set as an external (svn:external property). If I get the entire tree, I get the library several times, which is just getting too ridiculously repetitive. Is there a recommended structure for this? Or perhaps a way not to get all externals (because other externals are much smaller, easier to manipulate)?

• Debuging VBScript in Visual Studios Express

  I have read around the net that its possible to debug VBScript WSH files Visual Studios 2005 Express (I think Web Edition) but everytime I try cscript.exe myscript.vbs //X the script just executes. I have tried VS Express 2005, 2008 and 2010 all editions. I have also tried Visual Studios Premium 2010 which does infact debug scripts as I would expect however I want to be able to debug scripts with free tools (I don't want to get a VS 2010 licence for all the other people on my team). I know about Microsoft Script Debugger but it doesn't let you discover objects as well as Visual studios does.

  Hi I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition x64 on a Windows Server 2008 VM. I run the installer for a standalone installation and this works fine for the setup support rules bit. That passes ok but then I get this error: TITLE: SQL Server Setup failure. SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error: Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created.. BUTTONS: OK How can I resolve this? I am getting 2008 R2 CTP but this is just a CTP. My download is from DreamSpark. Thanks

• LicenseException for Xceed DataGrid for WPF

  I have developed a simple DB-editing app using Xceed's excellent DataGrid for WPF (UX Edition version 3.7), which is now ready for deployment... except that when I run it on a machine other than the development one where it was built, I am getting the runtime exception for invalid licensing. I have included my license key in the App.xaml.cs exactly as specified in the Xceed docs, like so: public partial class App : System.Windows.Application { protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e) { Xceed.Wpf.DataGrid.Licenser.LicenseKey = "DGF37-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx"; base.OnStartup(e); } } The correct version of the DataGrid DLLs are being included in the setup and the application's program directory, and there are no other versions on the target machine. Debugging doesn't show me anything useful other than the LicenseException that is thrown when the code tries to use the DataGrid, with the message that reads "Xceed.Wpf.DataGrid.Licenser.LicenseKey property must be set to a valid license key in the code of your application before using this product..." Any idea what's going wrong here?
