• Limit number of charchters in uitextview !

- by hib
Hello All , I am giving a text view to tweet some string . I am applying the following method to restrict the number of characters to 140 in length. - (BOOL)textView:(UITextView *)textView shouldChangeTextInRange:(NSRange)range replacementText:(NSString *)text{ if([text isEqualToString:@"\b"]){ DLog(@"Ohoooo"); return YES; }else if([[textView text] length] > 140){ return NO; } return YES; } The code is working nicely except the first condition that backspace is not working. suppose that I have reached the limit of 140 characters so that the method will give me false and the user can not insert more characters but after that when I try to delete some characters the text view behave as it is disabled . So the question how do delete characters from textview.text or re-enable the text view .

• XSL Template outputting massive chunk of text, rather than HTML. But only on one section

- by Throlkim
I'm having a slightly odd situation with an XSL template. Most of it outputs fine, but a certain for-each loop is causing me problems. Here's the XML: <feature type="Hall"> <Heading>Hall</Heading> <Para>Communal gardens, pathway leading to PVCu double glazed communal front door to</Para> </feature> <feature type="Entrance Hall"> <Heading>Communal Entrance Hall</Heading> <Para>Plain ceiling, centre light fitting, fire door through to inner hallway, wood and glazed panelled front door to</Para> </feature> <feature type="Inner Hall"> <Heading>Inner Hall</Heading> <Para>Plain ceiling with pendant light fitting and covings, security telephone, airing cupboard housing gas boiler serving domestic hot water and central heating, telephone point, storage cupboard housing gas and electric meters, wooden panelled doors off to all rooms.</Para> </feature> <feature type="Lounge (Reception)" width="3.05" length="4.57" units="metre"> <Heading>Lounge (Reception)</Heading> <Para>15' 6" x 10' 7" (4.72m x 3.23m) Window to the side and rear elevation, papered ceiling with pendant light fitting and covings, two double panelled radiators, power points, wall mounted security entry phone, TV aerial point.</Para> </feature> <feature type="Kitchen" width="3.05" length="3.66" units="metre"> <Heading>Kitchen</Heading> <Para>12' x 10' (3.66m x 3.05m) Double glazed window to the rear elevation, textured ceiling with strip lighting, range of base and wall units in Beech with brushed aluminium handles, co-ordinated working surfaces with inset stainless steel sink with mixer taps over, co-ordinated tiled splashbacks, gas and electric cooker points, large storage cupboard with shelving, power points.</Para> </feature> <feature type="Entrance Porch"> <Heading>Balcony</Heading> <Para>Views across the communal South facing garden, wrought iron balustrade.</Para> </feature> <feature type="Bedroom" width="3.35" length="3.96" units="metre"> <Heading>Bedroom One</Heading> <Para>13' 6" x 11' 5" (4.11m x 3.48m) Double glazed windows to the front and side elevations, papered ceiling with pendant light fittings and covings, single panelled radiator, power points, telephone point, security entry phone.</Para> </feature> <feature type="Bedroom" width="3.05" length="3.35" units="metre"> <Heading>Bedroom Two</Heading> <Para>11' 4" x 10' 1" (3.45m x 3.07m) Double glazed window to the front elevation, plain ceiling with centre light fitting and covings, power points.</Para> </feature> <feature type="bathroom"> <Heading>Bathroom</Heading> <Para>Obscure double glazed window to the rear elevation, textured ceiling with centre light fitting and extractor fan, suite in white comprising of low level WC, wall mounted wash hand basin and walk in shower housing 'Triton T80' electric shower, co-ordinated tiled splashbacks.</Para> </feature> And here's the section of my template that processes it: <xsl:for-each select="area">
<xsl:for-each select="feature">

<xsl:value-of select="Heading"/>
<xsl:value-of select="Para"/>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:for-each> And here's the output: Hall Communal gardens, pathway leading to PVCu double glazed communal front door to Communal Entrance Hall Plain ceiling, centre light fitting, fire door through to inner hallway, wood and glazed panelled front door to Inner Hall Plain ceiling with pendant light fitting and covings, security telephone, airing cupboard housing gas boiler serving domestic hot water and central heating, telephone point, storage cupboard housing gas and electric meters, wooden panelled doors off to all rooms. • In Objective C, what's the best way to extract multiple substrings of text around multiple patterns?

- by Matt
For one NSString, I have N pattern strings. I'd like to extract substrings "around" the pattern matches. So, if i have "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" and my patterns are "brown" and "lazy" i would like to get "quick brown fox" and "the lazy dog." However, the substrings don't necessarily need to be delimited by whitespace. I have a hunch that there's a very easy solution to this, but I admit a disturbing lack of knowledge of Objective C string functions.

• Compass - Lucene Full text search. Structure and Best Practice.

- by Rob
Hi, I have played about with the tutorial and Compass itself for a bit now. I have just started to ramp up the use of it and have found that the performance slows drastically. I am certain that this is due to my mappings and the relationships that I have between entities and was looking for suggestions about how this should be best done. Also as a side question I wanted to know if a variable is in an @searchableComponent but is not defined as @searchable when the component object is pulled out of Compass results will you be able to access that variable? I have 3 main classes that I want to search on - Provider, Location and Activity. They are all inter-related - a Provider can have many locations and activites and has an address; A Location has 1 provider, many activities and an address; An activity has 1 provider and many locations. I have a join table between activity and Location called ActivityLocation that can later provider additional information about the relationship. My classes are mapped to compass as shown below for provider location activity and address. This works but gives a huge index and searches on it are comparatively slow, any advice would be great. Cheers, Rob @Searchable public class AbstractActivity extends LightEntity implements Serializable { /** * Serialisation ID */ private static final long serialVersionUID = 3445339493203407152L; @SearchableId (name="actID") private Integer activityId =-1; • how to localize a table with multiple text entries?

- by rap-uvic
Hello, I'm writing a web app which will allow creation of events. An event can have a title as well as a description amongst other things. The app needs to be multilingual. So I have 4 tables for localization: ResourceTypes, ResourceKeys, Resources, and Locales. A resource key can have multiple values in Resources table for different locales. So Resources is a many to many table between ResourceKeys and Locales. So in the event table I want to have a resourceKey for its title as well as a resourceKey for its description. So my question is, is it OK from database-design perspective to have two foreign keys from a table into another table? Has anybody used a better approach in such a scenario?

I wonder if there is a opportunity to pass CSS Selectors into nextSibling/nextSibling functions...

• Single Regex for filtering roman numerals from the text files.

- by Nains
I am stuck in between of a problem where only one pass of regular expression is allowed( some old hard code). I need the regex for roman numerals. I have tried the standard one i.e. ^(?i)M*(D?C{0,3}|C[DM])(L?X{0,3}|X[LC])(V?I{0,3}|I[VX])$, but the problem is it allows null( '') values also. Is there any way around to check is problem?

• How can I put my own text hover into default Eclipse editor?

- by vitivy
I need to put some extra information into to the standard "javadoc" hover, that shows up when you go with mouse over some token. Or I need to create a new hover showing that information while pressing some key (like alt) and then hovering (I can see that this is done e.g. with the shift key, which enables us to see the hover with sourcecode, instead of javadoc). So far I found documentation on how to create hover in your own editors, but I need to extend the default java editor. Basically I am interested in showing some e-mail information related to the classname (token) over which user is hovering. Is there any extension point that could be used for this? Thanks for any help!

• How to get cursor to follow text when reading a web page?

- by Jack BeNimble
I know this isn't strictly program related, but I think I've seen this answer on SO before and lost track of it. The specific question has to do with reading an electronic document. I find it helpful to move the cursor across the words as I'm reading them. This works great with Word documents, but I'm unable to do it with web pages. Is there a way to make a web page see and respond to cursor movement?

• when I click submit it should change the text and update the row something is wrong there

- by Yousef Altaf
good morning programers, I have this small code which content a news control panel and I made a submit button there to active or inactive the news row so if I click on this button it should change if it's active it will be inactive it worked but there's something wrong there when I click on item one it updates the last on the table not the first on as it should do. here is the code that I use <?php $getNewsData="select * from news"; $QgetNewsData=$db->query($getNewsData)or die($db->error); $count=mysqli_num_rows($QgetNewsData); while($newsRow = mysqli_fetch_array($QgetNewsData)) { $getActivityStatus=$newsRow['news_activity']; switch($getActivityStatus){ case 1: echo"<input name='inActive' type='hidden' value='".$newsRow['news_id']."'/>"; break; case 0: echo"<input name='Active' type='hidden' value='".$newsRow['news_id']."'/>"; break;} } if(isset($_POST['inactive'])){ $inActive=$_POST['inActive']; echo $inActive; $updateStatus="UPDATE news SET news_activity=0 WHERE news_id='".$inActive."' • C# and Winforms TextBox control: How do I get the text change?

- by Billy ONeal
I have an event handler for the TextBox.TextChanged event on a form of mine. In order to support undo, I'd like to figure out exactly what has changed in the TextBox, so that I can undo the change if the user asks for it. (I know the builtin textbox supports undo, but I'd like to have a single undo stack for the whole application) Is there a reasonable way to do that? If not, is there a better way of supporting such an undo feature?
