• Get data from selected row in Gridview in C#, WPF

  Hi, I am trying to retrieve data from a Gridview that I have created in XAML. <ListView Name="chartListView" selectionChanged="chartListView_SelectionChanged"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Header="Name" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}" Width="250"/> <GridViewColumn Header="Type" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Type}" Width="60"/> <GridViewColumn Header="ID" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding ID}" Width="100"/> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> I have seen some code like this :- GridViewRow row = GridView1.SelectedRow; TextBox2.Text = row.Cells[2].Text; However my problem is that my GridView is created in XAML, and is not named, ie I cannot (or do not know how to) create a reference to 'gridview1', and therefore cannot access objects within it. Can I name or create a reference to my gridview either from c# or XAML so I can use the above code? Secondly, can I then access the array elements by name instead of index, something like :- TextBox2.Text = row.Cells["ID"].Text Thanks for any help.

• ASP.NET MVC Routing - Redirect to aspx?

  This seems like it should be easy, but for some reason I'm having no luck. I'm migrating an existing WebForms app to MVC, so I need to keep the root of the site pointing to my existing aspx pages for now and only apply routing to named routes. Here's what I have: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.aspx/{*pathInfo}"); RouteTable.Routes.Add( "Root", new Route("", new DefaultRouteHandler()) ); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Calendar2", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); } So aspx pages should be ignored, and the default root url should be handled by this handler: public class DefaultRouteHandler : IRouteHandler { public IHttpHandler GetHttpHandler(RequestContext requestContext) { return System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath( "~/Dashboard/default.aspx", typeof(Page)) as IHttpHandler; } } This seems to work OK, but the resulting YPOD gives me this: Multiple controls with the same ID '__Page' were found. Trace requires that controls have unique IDs. which seems to imply that the page is somehow getting rendered twice. If I simply type in the url to my dashboard page directly it works fine (no routing, no error). I have no idea why the handler code would be doing anything differently. Bottom line -- I'd like to simply redirect the root url path to an aspx of my choosing -- can anyone shed some light?

  I am having an ASP.NET MVC 3 application that collaborates with a WCF service, which is hosted using Autofac host factory. I changed the binding to WSHttpBinding on the MVC side, but I am having different exceptions depending on how I tune it. I also tried changing AutofacServiceHostFactory to AutofacWebServiceHostFactory, with no result. I am not using config file as I am mainly experimenting, not developing real-life application, but I need to study the case. But if you think I can achieve what I need only with config files, then OK, I'll use them. I will provide exception details for each combination of settings if required, I'm omitting them not to make the post too large. Any ideas on what I can do?

• Rails model belongs to model that belongs to model but i want to use another name

  Hello. This may be a stupid question but im just starting to learn Rail thats why i am asking thsi question. I have one model called "User" which handles all the users in my community. Now i want to add a guestbook to every user. So i created a model called "user_guestbook" and inserted this into the new model: belongs_to :user and this into the user model: has_one :user_guestbook, :as => :guestbook The next thing i did was to add a new model to handle the posts inside the guestbook. I named it "guestbook_posts" and added this code into the new model: belongs_to :user_guestbook And this into the user_guestbook model: has_many :guestbook_posts, :as => :posts What i wanted to achive was to be able to fetch all the posts to a certain user by: @user = User.find(1) puts @user.guestbook.posts But it doesnt work for me. I dont know what i am doing wrong and if there is any easier way to do this please tell me so. Just to note, i have created some migrations for it to as follows: create_user_guestbook: t.integer :user_id create_guestbook_posts: t.integer :guestbook_id t.integer :from_user t.string :post Thanks in advance!

• ASP.NET MVC - Html.DropDownList - Value not set via ViewData.Model

  Have just started playing with ASP.NET MVC and have stumbled over the following situation. It feels a lot like a bug but if its not, an explanation would be appreciated :) The View contains pretty basic stuff <%=Html.DropDownList("MyList", ViewData["MyListItems"] as SelectList)%> <%=Html.TextBox("MyTextBox")%> When not using a model, the value and selected item are set as expected: //works fine public ActionResult MyAction(){ ViewData["MyListItems"] = new SelectList(items, "Value", "Text"); //items is an ienumerable of {Value="XXX", Text="YYY"} ViewData["MyList"] = "XXX"; //set the selected item to be the one with value 'XXX' ViewData["MyTextBox"] = "ABC"; //sets textbox value to 'ABC' return View(); } But when trying to load via a model, the textbox has the value set as expected, but the dropdown doesnt get a selected item set. //doesnt work public ActionResult MyAction(){ ViewData["MyListItems"] = new SelectList(items, "Value", "Text"); //items is an ienumerable of {Value="XXX", Text="YYY"} var model = new { MyList = "XXX", //set the selected item to be the one with value 'XXX' MyTextBox = "ABC" //sets textbox value to 'ABC' } return View(model); } Any ideas? My current thoughts on it are that perhaps when using a model, we're restricted to setting the selected item on the SelectList constructor instead of using the viewdata (which works fine) and passing the selectlist in with the model - which would have the benefit of cleaning the code up a little - I'm just wondering why this method doesnt work....   I am running Cygwin Python version 2.5.2. I have a three-line source file, called import.py: #!/usr/bin/python import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET print "Success!" When I execute "python import.py", it works: C:\Temp>python import.py Success! When I run the python interpreter and type the commands, it works: C:\Temp>python Python 2.5.2 (r252:60911, Dec 2 2008, 09:26:14) [GCC 3.4.4 (cygming special, gdc 0.12, using dmd 0.125)] on cygwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> #!/usr/bin/python ... import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET >>> print "Success!" Success! >>> But when I execute "import.py', it does not work: C:\Temp>which python /usr/bin/python C:\Temp>import.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Temp\import.py", line 2, in ? import xml.etree.ElementTree as ET ImportError: No module named etree.ElementTree When I remove the first line (#!/usr/bin/python), I get the same error. I need that line in there, though, for when this script runs on Linux. And it works fine on Linux. Any ideas? Thanks.

• How to achieve "Blendability" when using DataServiceCollection in my ViewModel

  I'm looking at using oData endpoints in my Silverlight client. Naturally, I'm doing MVVM and I want the project to be nice and "Blendable" (i.e. I must be able to cleanly use static data instead of the oData endpoints when in design mode.) Now to the problem. I'd like to use the DataServiceCollection in my ViewModels, since it allows for nice bindable collections without having to worry too much with BeginExecute/EndExecute etc. Now, let's look at some code. My Model interface looks like this: public interface ITasksModel { IQueryable<Task> Tasks { get; } } The oData endpoint implementation of that interface: public class TasksModel : ITasksModel { Uri svcUri = new Uri("http://localhost:2404/Services/TasksDataService.svc"); TaskModelContainer _container; public TasksModel() { _container = new TaskModelContainer(svcUri); } public IQueryable<Task> Tasks { get { return _container.TaskSet; } } } And the "Blendable" design-time implementation: public class DesignModeTasksModel : ITasksModel { private List<Task> _taskCollection = new List<Task>(); public DesignModeTasksModel() { _taskCollection.Add(new Task() { Id = 1, Title = "Task 1" }); _taskCollection.Add(new Task() { Id = 2, Title = "Task 2" }); _taskCollection.Add(new Task() { Id = 3, Title = "Task 3" }); } public IQueryable<Task> Tasks { get { return _taskCollection.AsQueryable(); } } } However, when I try to use this last one in my ViewModel constructor: public TaskListViewModel(ITasksModel tasksModel) { _tasksModel = tasksModel; _tasks = new DataServiceCollection<Task>(); _tasks.LoadAsync(_tasksModel.Tasks); } I get an exception: Only a typed DataServiceQuery object can be supplied when calling the LoadAsync method on DataServiceCollection. First of all, if this is the case, why not make the input parameter of LoadAsync be typed as DataServiceQuery? Second, what is the "proper" way of doing what I'm trying to accomplish?

• OS X, Mercurial and MediaTemple problem

  I've installed Mercurial per MT's knowledge base file here. Working with it server side using ssh from my Mac works fine. I can initialize repositories and the like, but pulling from the server or pushing from my Mac produces an error I don't understand. • Problems with Prism hosted in a WinForm ElementHost

  I am having problems with hosting a WPF prism app in an ElementHost control and am desparate for help. The PRISM app runs fine in silverlight and in a standalone WPF. The main Shell seems to setup fine in the elementHost on a WinForm however other views only load with the “RegisterViewWithRegion” and not the “Add,Activate” procedure. I need “Add,Activate” for scoping. However I beleive the problem is that I am loading my shell twice … not on purpose. I cannot find a way to call the bootsrapper and set the elementHot without calling “Resolve” twice. Here is the code for my WinForm and my bootstrapper. Again everything works when using "RegisterViewWithRegion". • Error when adding code behind for Silverlight resource dictionary: AG_E_PARSER_BAD_TYPE

  Hi, It should be possible to add a code behind file for a resource dictionary in Silverlight, but I keep getting the same error, thrown from the InitializeComponent method of my App.xaml constructor: XamlParseException: AG_E_PARSER_BAD_TYPE. The resource dictionary xaml file looks like this: <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="Celerior.Annapurna.SL.ProvisiorResourceDictionary" x:ClassModifier="public"> ... </ResourceDictionary> If I remove the x:Class attribute everything works fine again (of course, I double-checked the class name and it's correct). • C# BindingSource.AddingNew is never called?

  Hello, BindingSource.AddingNew is never called when I leave the cell of my datagrid. The DataGrid has as datasource the BindingSource which again has a "List" of "Customer". What does the BindingSource need to create a new Customer object and add it to the underlying ICustomerList ? Of course a interface has no constructor... • C# Convert Excel Range to Dataset or Datatable, etc.

  I have an Excel spreadsheet that will sit out on a network share drive. It needs to be accessed by my Winforms C# 3.0 application (many users could be using the app and hitting this spreadsheet at the same time). There is a lot of data on one worksheet. This data is broken out into areas that I have named as ranges. I need to be able to access these ranges individually, return each range as a dataset, and then bind it to a grid. I have found examples that use OLE and have got these to work. However, I have seen some warnings about using this method, plus at work we have been using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel as the standard thus far. I don't really want to stray from this unless I have to. Our users will be using Office 2003 on up as far as I know. I can get the range I need with the following code: MyDataRange = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range)MyWorkSheet.get_Range("MyExcelRange", Type.Missing); The OLE way was nice as it would take my first row and turn those into columns. My ranges (12 total) are for the most part different from each other in number of columns. Didn't know if this info would affect any recommendations. Is there any way to use Interop and get the returned range back into a dataset? Thanks for your help.

• WCF Reliable Session Timeout

  Hi, when do reliable sessions time out? My session class is defined as follows: [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Multiple)] and in my app.config... <bindings> <netTcpBinding> <binding name="FTS_netTcpBinding"> <reliableSession enabled="true" inactivityTimeout="00:00:30"/> </binding> </netTcpBinding> </bindings> I have put a timer in the constructor of my session class that simply outputs a count (1..2..3...) to the console for every second the session is active. I have tested it so far by faulting my channel. I would have imagined that the session class would have died after ~30 seconds (as specified in my inactivityTimeout parameter) and hence the timer would have died. However it was still going after a minute. Each session on my app will have significant resources so I need to make sure that they are cleaned up when something goes wrong. Thanks.

• Making a app show inside a GUI in Java

  Hello. I have one problem I've been dealing with for this week. You see, I'm new to Java, so that's probably it... Anyways, I've started a project out of pure curiosity. I had it done in Java, but in plain CMD-style, which is not very pretty. It calls one of my ten programs, chosen by the user using "Case". Eg.: If you type 1, it will go to program 1. After you finish it, it goes back to selection until the user press 0. After that, I've been trying to make a GUI for it. I've been able to create the selector alone and make it respond to the numbers chosen. If you press 1 and click ok, it will tell you you've chosen program 1. I, however, have not been able to make it run the program. I've been trying to make the program show up in a jPanel, part of the main GUI. I failed miserably. The program runs in separate but I can't make them run together like the CMD one.   Is it possible to create a web service operation using primitive or basic Java types when using the Jaxb2Marschaller in spring-ws? When I try to call the webservice I get the following error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: No adapter for endpoint [...]: Does your endpoint implement a supported interface like MessageHandler or PayloadEndpoint I found out that if I change the method to that: @Override @PayloadRoot(localPart = "AddTaskRequest", namespace = "http://example.com/examplews/") public JAXBElement<Long> addTask(final JAXBElement<Task> task) throws AddTaskFault { final ObjectFactory objectFactory = new ObjectFactory(); return objectFactory.createAddTaskResponse(0L); } I am able to call it - but this signature is not compatible with the interface generated by the maven jaxws plugin. What can I do to configure either spring-ws to be able to use the first kind of implementation or to tell maven jaxws plugin to generate the second variant of the interface? • Legacy URL rewriting with query string parameters

  I've looked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/817325/asp-net-mvc-routing-legacy-urls-passing-querystring-ids-to-controller-actions and several other similar posts for legacy URL routing, but I can't get past the error "The RouteData must contain an item named 'controller' with a non-empty string value." Looking this up on line didn't give me any hints to solve my problem. I've implemented the Legacy routing class described in the link above, and this is what I've defined in the routing table: routes.Add( "Legacy", new LegacyRoute("fooref.aspx", "FooRef", new LegacyRouteHandler()) ); routes.MapRoute( "FooRef", "{controller}/{action}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", foo_id = UrlParameter.Optional, bar_id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); When I use Phil Haack's route debugger, it indicates that fooref.aspx has a match, but when I turn the route debugger off, I get the error above. If I reverse the statement order, I get "Resource not found" for /ctprefer.aspx, which makes sense -- so it appears to be finding that as a valid route when put in the other order. Where do I need to declare this missing controller reference? Have routing requirements changed for ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM?

• Why doesn't Data Driven Subscription in SSRS 2005 like my Stored Procedure?

  I'm trying to define a Data Driven Subscription for a report in SSRS 2005. In Step 3 of the set up you're asked for: " a command or query that returns a list of recipients and optionally returns fields used to vary delivery settings and report parameter values for each recipient" This I have written and it returns the data without a hitch. I press next and it rolls onto the next screen in the set up which has all the variables to set for the DDS and in each case it has an option to "Select Value From Database" I select this radio button and press the drop down. No fields are available to me. Now the only way I could vary the number of parameters returned by the SP was to have the SP write the SQL to an nvarchar variable and then at the end execute the variable as sql. I have tested this in the Management Studio and it returns the expected fields. I even named them after the fields in SSRS but the thing won't put the field names into the dropdowns. I've even taken the query body out of the Stored Proc, verified it in SSRS and then tried that. It doesn't work either. Can anyone shed any light into what I'm doing wrong?

• MKMapKit custom annotations being added to map, but are not visible on the map

  I learned a lot from the screencast at http://icodeblog.com/2009/12/21/introduction-to-mapkit-in-iphone-os-3-0/ , and ive been trying to incorporate the way he creates a custom annotation into my iphone app. He is hardcoding annotations and adding them individually to the map, whereas i want to add them from my data source. So i have an array of objects with a lat and a lng (ive checked that the values are within range and ought to be appearing on the map) that i iterate through and do [mapView addAnnotation:truck] once this process is completed, i check the number of annotations on the map with [[mapView annotations] count] and its equal to the number it ought to be, so all the annotations are getting added onto the mapView, but for some reason I cant see any annotations in the simulator. I've compared my code with his in all the pertinent places many times, but nothing seems to stand out as being incorrect. Ive also reviewed my code for the last several hours trying to find a point where I do something wrong, but nothing is coming to mind. The images are named just as they are assigned in the custom AnnotationView, the loadAnnotation function is done properly, etc... i dont know what it could be. so i suppose if i could have the answer to one question it would be, what are possible causes for a mapView to contain several annotations, but to not show any on the map? • Connecting git to github on windows 7 without bash

  I'm setting up git on my new Windows 7 machine and I'm hitting a roadblock when it comes to getting github to acknowledge my ssh key. I am doing things a little different from the standard script in that I would rather not use cygwin and prefer to use my powershell prompt. The following is what I did: I installed msysgit (portable). I went to C:\program files\git\bin and used ssh-keygen to generate a public/private ssh keypair which I put in c:\Temp I then created a directory named .ssh\ in c:\Users\myusername\ (on windows 7) I moved both the files generated by the ssh-keygen (id_rsa and id_rsa.pub) into the .ssh directory I went to my account on github, created a new public key, copy-pasted the contents of id_rsa.pub into it and saved I now go to my powershell prompt, set-alias git 'C:\program files\git\bin\git.exe' I try to now do a clone [email protected]:togakangaroo/ps-profile.git which rejects my authentication: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Past experience says that this means git is not recognizing my key. What steps am I missing? I have a feeling that I need to somehow configure git so that it knows where my ssh keys are (though it would seem it should look there automatically) but I don't know how to do that. Another possible clue is that when I try to run git config --global user.name "George Mauer" I get an error fatal: $HOME not set I did however set up a HOME environment user variable with the value %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

• How to force multiple Interfaces to include certain the same properties?

  I am trying to figure out a way to force all of my Interfaces to include properties of the same name/type. For example: I have two Interfaces; IGetAlarms and IGetDiagnostics. Each of the Interfaces will contain properties that are specific to the Interface itself, however I want to force the two Interfaces (and all other Interfaces that may be added later) to include properties of the same name. So, the result may look something like the this: interface IGetAlarms { string GetAlarms(); DateTime LastRuntime { get; set; } } interface IGetDiagnostics { string GetDiagnostics(); DateTime LastRuntime { get; set; } } Notice that both Interfaces include a DateTime property named LastRuntime. I would like to know if there is some way I can force other Interfaces that will be added later to include the DateTime LastRuntime property. I have naively attempted to have all my Interfaces implement another Interface (IService) - which includes the LastRuntime property. However, that doesn't solve my problem as that simply forces the class to implement the property - not all the Interfaces. Thanks.

• Using @Context, @Provider and ContextResolver in JAX-RS

  I'm just getting acquainted with implementing REST web services in Java using JAX-RS and I ran into the following problem. One of my resource classes requires access to a storage backend, which is abstracted away behind a StorageEngine interface. I would like to inject the current StorageEngine instance into the resource class serving the REST requests and I thought a nice way of doing this would be by using the @Context annotation and an appropriate ContextResolver class. This is what I have so far: In MyResource.java: class MyResource { @Context StorageEngine storage; [...] } In StorageEngineProvider.java: @Provider class StorageEngineProvider implements ContextResolver<StorageEngine> { private StorageEngine storage = new InMemoryStorageEngine(); public StorageEngine getContext(Class<?> type) { if (type.equals(StorageEngine.class)) return storage; return null; } } I'm using com.sun.jersey.api.core.PackagesResourceConfig to discover the providers and the resource classes automatically, and according to the logs, it picks up the StorageEngineProvider class nicely (timestamps and unnecessary stuff left out intentionally): INFO: Root resource classes found: class MyResource INFO: Provider classes found: class StorageEngineProvider However, the value of storage in my resource class is always null - neither the constructor of StorageEngineProvider nor its getContext method is called by Jersey, ever.   The scenario is as follows, I have 3 objects (i simplified the names) named Parent, parent's child & child's child parent's child is a set in parent, and child's child is a set in child. mapping is as follows (relevant parts) parent <set name="parentset" table="pc-table" lazy="false" fetch="subselect" cascade="all-delete-orphan" inverse="true"> <key column=FK_ID_PC" on-delete="cascade"/> <one-to-many class="parentchild,parentchild-ns"/> </set> parent's child <set name="childset" table="cc-table" lazy="false" fetch="subselect" cascade="all-delete-orphan" inverse="true"> <key column="FK_ID_CC" on-delete="cascade"/> <one-to-many class="childschild,childschild-ns"/> </set> What i want to achieve is that when i delete the parent, there would be a cascade delete all the way trough to child's child. But what currently happens is this. (this is purely for mapping test purposes) getting a parent entity (works fine) IQuery query = session.CreateQuery("from Parent where ID =" + ID); IParent doc = query.UniqueResult<Parent>(); now the delete part session.Delete(doc); transaction.Commit(); After having solved the 'cannot insert null value' error with cascading and inverse i hopes this would now delete everything with this code, but only the parent is being deleted. Did i miss something in my mapping which is likely to be missed? Any hint in the right direction is more than welcome!

• Undefined reference to 'glib'

  I would like to parse a config file using glib in Codeblocks which I use. So I want to do exactly the example which is described here first. I have a file named myconfig.cfg and and a code programming.c. I just copy and paste the code to see if glib works but unfortunately it does not work.
