I get an "The remote name could not be resolved: 'mine.com'"
When using this open ID identifier:
https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/site-xrds?hd=mine.com
And it's true, that the mine.com DNS record doesn't exist. But I'm wondering why it goes to look there in the first place. All I want to be doing is to check if the user can login to our hosted domain. Is that really so hard?
I'm looking for real world examples of needing read and write access to the same value in concurrent systems.
In my opinion, many semaphores or locks are present because there's no known alternative (to the implementer,) but do you know of any patterns where mutexes seem to be a requirement?
In a way I'm asking for candidates for the standard set of HARD problems for concurrent software in the real world.
Is there a simple way to load test an asp.net application? I've been reading on some microsoft pattern and practices documents that tell you to use ACT which seems kind of hard to use for complex requests.
Is there any guidance on creating apps that will run on both professional (touch-screen) and standard (non-touch-screen) devices.
I have a simple application that is mostly text and buttons that in theory should be able to run on both professional and standard devices with little if any modification.
It seems the IDE wants to make this hard to impossible, but I expect it to be possible.
Any advice?
I have a background image on top of which there is some text.
It is very hard to read the text because of the background.
I would like to add a white background just around the text itself, such that the text could be easily read. How can I accomplish this using CSS/Javascript/jQuery ?

I am trying to add a lot of item to ListItemCollection in the ListControl, but once the Count reaches 127 I can't add any more items. It doesn't throw any exceptions, just doesn't add the items. I have changed Capacity to 256, but it still won't add more than 127 items. Is there a hard-coded limit?
I have a few years experience programming c++ and a little less then that using Qt. I built a data mining software using Qt and I want to make it available online. Unfortunately, I know close to nothing about web programming. Firstly, how easy or hard is this to do and what is the best way to go about it?
Supposing I am looking to hire someone to make me a secure, long-term, extensible, website for an online software service, what skill set should I be looking for?
I feel like this is a stupid questions, but I am finding it hard to get this answered.
I only want to show the jquery dialog when the page first renders. After the page renders there are multiple operations that cause the page to postback, but the user doesn't navigate away from that page.
How do I disallow the jquery dialog from showing on those postback events.
Thanks in advance!

I am trying to create an outlook distribution list with php but I am having a hard time finding any resources or instructions on how to do so. Is it even possible to do this?
This is my first question on Stack Overflow, I would like to know about any c programming books that have real programs to introduce real problems as opposed to standard books with examples aimed to teach the language it should be sort of like a challenge with solutions so that concepts like recursion can be used i know that i should find solutions to existing problems to learn the language but this is my first attempt and i find it hard to understand some simple problems so i was hoping for a book with solutions.
I'm using org.w3c XML API to open an existing XML file. I'm removing some nodes , and I'm adding others instead . The problem is that the new nodes that are added are written one after another , with no newline and no indentation what so ever. While it's true that the XML file is valid , it is very hard for a human to examnine it.
Is there anyway to add indentation , or at least a newline after each node ?
Often, it is more efficient to use a sorted std::vector instead of a std::set. Does anyone know a library class sorted_vector, which basically has a similar interface to std::set, but inserts elements into the sorted vector (so that there are no duplicates), uses binary search to find elements, etc.?
I know it's not hard to write, but probably better not to waste time and use an existing implementation anyway.
in java, you can use File.listRoots() to get all drives in the system. I'm looking to get only the external drives, i.e. USB drives, external hard disks, optical drives, floppy etc'.
is there any way to do it in java? if not, native c++ code would be good as well. in that case, i need both windows and linux code
thanks
I'm replacing a website that was previously HTML only.
I put a GridView on the French and the English page and I'm getting 2 fields: A date and a currency.
For the date, I need to transform it into a long date format. The English part isn't very hard, but when I get to the French page, I can't transform it into a long date format with French words (i.e.:Mardi instead of Tuesday).
Is there any way to format the string with French date words instead?
Okay I use this script here to make a backup of my database:
mysqldump -u root -h localhost -pPASSWORD forums | gzip -9 > backup-$(date +%Y-%m-%d).sql.gz
This is used in a cron daily.
But I need to download this remotely or through a ftp program every day as well so I have a physical copy of it on my home hard drive, is this possible? I know it is, can anyone tell me a quick way to do it?

I am having a hard time getting video to play in an application that I am working on and I think the answer has to do with the views and view controllers. I have the flow depicted below. When the button is clicked, the audio from the video is playing, but nothing is displayed on screen. Anyone have any ideas?
-(IBAction) playMovie {
Play Movie Code
}
ViewController UIScrollView UIView UIButton - (playMovie)
Hello,
I want to start a process (calling another program), currently the external program takes time (it is normal)!
but it freezes my GUI
I saw allot of examples and I'm learning, it is hard to figure it out,
trying to read and learn threading, but it is not that easy (at least for me)
and good simple tutorial or code sample?
cheers
I stumbled upon this while doing a review and the author is not available:
int n = Convert.ToInt32(text);
if (((n > 0) || (n < 0)) || (n == 0))
{
return 1;
}
The code in general looks solid and it's hard for me to believe that the only purpose of this snippet is to confuse reviewers, but I don't see a way for this condition to fail. Am I missing something?
timeGetTime seems to be quite good to query for system time. However, its return value is 32-bit only, so it wraps around every 49 days approx.
It's not too hard to detect the rollover in calling code, but it adds some complexity, and (worse) requires keeping a state.
Is there some replacement for timeGetTime that would not have this wrap-around problem (probably by returning a 64-bit value), and have roughly the same precision and cost?
I want to get better at JQuery, but I don't know what type of application I should make to test my skills. What would you suggest that would not be too hard so I would get frustrated as a beginner.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
(sorry if I sound like a noob, by the way =P)
