    I guess the question is self-explanatory, but I'm wondering whether HTML qualifies as a programming language (obviously the "L" stands for language). The reason for asking is more pragmatic—I'm putting together a resume and don't want to look like a fool for listing things like HTML and XML under languages, but can't figure out how to classify them.

    I have a method as an NSString *. If it exists, I want to call it, and if not, do nothing. SEL eventSelector = NSSelectorFromString(eventSelectorStr); if ([delegate respondsToSelector:eventSelector]) { [delegate performSelector:eventSelector]; [delegate adapterDidFinishAdRequest:self]; } else { // Does not implement selector } This code does not work, since NSSelectorFromString will register the string as a selector, so respondsToSelector:eventSelector will cause a crash because the selector is actually invalid.

    I'm using yahoo local search in an iPhone app and trying to query everything in a certain location. According to the api docs you can pass "*" to query and it will return everything. I've tried passing it several different ways, including the way below but it does not work unless I actually pass it a real query.     I am using gnosis.xml.pickle to convert an object of my own class to xml. The object is initialized so that: self.logger = MyLogger() But when I do dump the object to a string I get an exception stating that the pickler encountered an unpickleable type . Is there a way to 'tag' the logger attribute so that pickler will know not to try and pickle that attribute?

B) Failing that, what methods could be used to develop this capability in a (crappy) self-written program without requiring the program to be sophisticated and content-aware? Is there any (roughly) universally safe location within a file (for example, around EOF?) where on could one simply append/add psuedorandom data so the resulting hash is different?
