  • WPF with code only

    I've seen a lot of questions about the merits of WPF here, and essentially every answer says it's the bee's knees, but essentially every answer also talks about things like XAML, in many cases graphic designers and Expression Blend etc. My question is, is it worth getting into WPF if you're a solo coder working in C# only? Specifically, I don't have a graphic designer, nor any great talent in that area myself; I don't use point-and-click tools; I write everything in C#, not XML. Winforms works fine in those conditions. Is the same true of WPF, or does it turn out that important functions can only be done in XAML, the default settings aren't intended for actual use and you have to have a graphic designer on the team to make things look good, etc., and somebody in my position would be better off to stick to Winforms?

  • How to disable log4j logging from Java code

    I use a legacy library that writes logs using log4j. My default log4j.properties file directs the log to the console, but in some specific functions of my main program, I would like to disable logging altogether (from all classes). I tried this: Logger.getLogger(BasicImplementation.class.getName()).setLevel(Level.OFF); where "BasicImplementation" is one of the main classes that does logging, but it didn't work - the logs are still written to the console.   • xmlpullparser(), whats wrong with my code?

    I am expecting output to be an array list filled with all items as "thought" but instead, every time i add a value into arraylist, the previous value in list also gets update with new, hence resulting in duplicates.   • How to prevent chrome from injecting content to webpage

    Recently I have discovered that my application is misbehaving in Google Chrome. On a page with a form, after it was submitted, my application reloads page using simple method like this: header('Location: ' . $url); after that, page is rendered incorrectly and this content is injected to DOM <div id="sbi_camera_button" class="sbi_search" style="left: 0px; top: 0px; position: absolute; width: 29px; height: 27px; border: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; z-index: 2147483647; display: none; "></div> After manual page refresh everything works as expected. I'm not sure what causing this behavior, as I'm working in closed local environment and application works fine in Firefox. My application using following libraries (hosted locally): jQuery v1.7.1 jQuery UI 1.8.16 Bootstrap.js v 2.1.1 Can someone suggest me what can possibly cause this issue?

The input to the controller is an XML file that contains the path to each executable and list of command line parameters to be passed to each. I need to implement the following functionality: Start each executable as an independent Be able to kill any of the created processes independent of the others In order to do (2), I think I need to capture the pid when I create a process, to issue a system kill command. I tried to get access to pid in Java but saw no easy way to do it. All my other logic (putting info about the tasks in DB, etc) is done in Java so I'd like to stick with that, but if there are solutions you can suggest in C, C++, or Python I'd appreciate those, too.

  • Running code when all threads are finished processing.

    Quick note: Java and Android noob here, I'm open to you telling me I'm stupid (as long as you tell me why.) I have an android application which requires me start multiple threads originating from various classes and only advance to the next activity once all threads have done their job. I also want to add a "failsafe" timeout in case one the the threads takes too long (HTTP request taking too long or something.) I searched Stack Overflow and found a post saying that I should create a class to keep a running total of open threads and then use a timer to poll for when all the threads are completed. I think I've created a working class to do this for me, it's untested as of yet but has no errors showing in eclipse. Is this a correct implementation?   • Force php through the .net engine in iis7

    I have converted a php to asp.net mvc and have it hosted with the Rackspace cloud. All works great apart from some php links are still linked from other sites and within search engines. My question is what do I need to add to my web.config to force php sites to go through the .net engine? These links work as expected as I can catch the 404 and redirect where need be:- http://www.securahome.net/myjunk.info http://www.securahome.net/myjunk.phpp However this one doesn't:- http://www.securahome.net/myjunk.php I have spoken to Rackspace cloud and they say "its not possible as IIS doesn't recognize php files. You can setup mime types to handle them" This however makes no sense and I think they did not understand the problem. Does anyone have a solution?
