SSL connection using Java standalone app

I have created a standalone executable JAR program that needs to send private information over a SSL connection. I was not able to establish the SSL connection using certificates. Was getting this: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path `building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target` So I found some code somewhere that creates a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains: // Create a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{ new X509TrustManager() { public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() { return null; } public void checkClientTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } public void checkServerTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } } }; That did the trick and I was able to establish SSL connection without any certificates. My concern is if the data will still be encrypted when exchanging private information. This is an execute JAR file that clients will be downloading to their computers. So is a certificate really necessary for this case? Thanks.

Getting javascript mouse position relative to website prefferably without jQuery

I've found this snippet on Ajaxian, but I can't seem to use the cursor.y (or cursor.x) as a variable and when the function is called as such it does not seem to work. Add / Remove the default documents of IIS7 using vb.net 2.0 windows application

Hai, I wrote the coding for add / remove the default documents of IIS7 in vb.net 2.0 windows application using Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll. The coding is working fine. After adding a new document, the messagebox showing that newly added document name. Simillarly if I remove any document, the messagebox not showing that document name. So that I am saying, the coding is working fine. Now the problem is, I can't see the newly added document name in II7 Manager GUI. The next proplem is, my website not access that newly added document. Please can any body suggest for these problems. What the mistake I did the vb.net 2.0 windows application coding and what are the modifications I need to do? Thanks in advance.

i have the following html code : <FORM name=frmmail> <input id="dochtmlContent" type="hidden" name="dochtmlContent" value="oldValue"/> <script>document.dochtmlContent="newValue"</script> </FORM> and later on in a javascrip function (which is called upn submit): alert(document.dochtmlContent); document.frmmail.method = "post"; document.frmmail.ENCTYPE = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; document.frmmail.action = "/myServlet"; document.frmmail.submit(); Basically, I am declaring a hiden variable, changing its value and submitting it. The issue is, while I see an alert box displaying "newValue", when I submit it, my servlet recieves the "oldValue" for the dochtmlContent parameter. Can someone suggest whats wrong here.

JBoss https on port other than 8080 not working

We have a server with two JBoss instances where one runs on 8080, the other on 8081. We need to have HTTPS enabled for the 8081 server, firstly we tried enabling https on the 8080 port instance by generating the keystore and editing the server.xml and it successfully worked. However when we tried the same thing for 8081 it did not, note that we removed https for the 8080 server first before enabling it for 8081. This is what was used for both server.xml for 8080 and 8081. The only difference was that the port was changed from 8080 to 8081 when trying to enable https for 8081 port instance. What am I doing wrong and what needs to be changed? NOTE : When I meant enabled for 8080 I meant when you visit https:// URL:8484 you will actually be visiting the 8080 port instance. However when ssl is enabled for 8081 and I visit https:// URL:8484 I get that the web page is unavailable. Javascript AJAX function not working in IE?

I read this article Unobtrusive JavaScript with jQuery and I noticed these points in the slide page 11 some companies strip JavaScript at the firewall some run the NoScript Firefox extension to protect themselves from common XSS and CSRF attacks many mobile devices ignore JavaScript entirely screen readers do execute JavaScript but accessibility issues mean you may not want them to I did not understand the fourth point. What does it mean? I need your comment and responses on these points. Is not using JavaScript and switching to libraries like jQuery worth it? UPDATE 1 : whats the meaning of Unobtrusive JavaScript with jQuery ? and yes it does not say we should use libraries but we should have them on external files for that reason i asked my question.

populate CoreData data model from JSON files prior to app start

I am creating an iPad App that displays data I got from an API in JSON format. My Core Data model has several entities(Countries, Events, Talks, ...). For each entity I have one .json file that contains all instances of the entity and its attributes as well as its relationships. I would like to populate my Core Data data model with these entities before the start of the App (otherwise it takes about 15 minutes for the iPad to create all the instances of the entities from the several JSON files using factory methods). IPSec help on Windows 2003 please!!

Hey guys, I am trying to configure IPSec between a web and app server in our environment. I want all traffic between these two servers to use IPsec and be encrypted. These servers are on the same domain so i am currently using Kerebos for security, I have also tried pre-defined keys and nothing changed. When I try and ping between the servers I get "Negotiating IP Security" everytime. I have also confirmed that when I change "Require Security" to "Permit" everything works so IPSec is working, I believe its something with my security setup. Under the security tab both servers have the default 3DES keys first and then DES keys. I have also specified tunnel endpoints (the alternate server's IP). What am I missing? Thanks for any help..

Code 1 - Does not work if(document.getElementById == true) { alert("The document object model is supported by: " + navigator.appName); } Code 2 - Does work if(document.getElementById != false) { alert("The document object model is supported by: " + navigator.appName); } Code 3 - The shorthand that does work if(document.getElementById) { alert("The document object model is supported by: " + navigator.appName); } Why is that if I expand the shorthand in 3 to the first code sample not work and why does it work if I have it equal to != false?

Invoking a superclass's class methods in Python

I am working on a Flask extension that adds CouchDB support to Flask. To make it easier, I have subclassed couchdb.mapping.Document so the store and load methods can use the current thread-local database. Right now, my code looks like this: class Document(mapping.Document): # rest of the methods omitted for brevity @classmethod def load(cls, id, db=None): return mapping.Document.load(cls, db or g.couch, id) I left out some for brevity, but that's the important part. However, due to the way classmethod works, when I try to call this method, I receive the error message File "flaskext/couchdb.py", line 187, in load return mapping.Document.load(cls, db or g.couch, id) TypeError: load() takes exactly 3 arguments (4 given) I tested replacing the call with mapping.Document.load.im_func(cls, db or g.couch, id), and it works, but I'm not particularly happy about accessing the internal im_ attributes (even though they are documented). Does anyone have a more elegant way to handle this?

For my application, there is one document (Microsoft word), and this document is reviewed by several people in the "Track changes" mode, so the input to my application is the original document and the reviewed documents with changes (like insert/delete/comments). By this link , I know how to extract all the changes from the reviewed documents. what i want is to combine all the changes from all the reviewed documents into ONE document, and make all the changes "accepted", so the output of my application is one modified Microsoft document with all the changes (delete/insert/comment) accepted. My problem is that I don't know how to combine the changes from several documents into one single document. Anyone has an idea how to do this? Thank you very much in advance.

I am trying to build an extension that will allow users to put some parameters into a text box in the popup, generate a link using that information and add it to the said popup. I have all that working, but needless to say, it gets flushed every time the user opens the extension anew. I'd like the info that has been put in there to stay, but can't seem to get it to work.
