• Sendmail to local domain ignoring MX records (part 2)

  Hello. I have the exact problem, like in this post: http://serverfault.com/questions/25068/sendmail-to-local-domain-ignoring-mx-records I am also using email provider like GMail For Your Domain (which stores your mail and manages it). I am sending mail from my server directly, but receiving mail is done via Yandex (email provider). Since the server hosts forum, I prefer to send mail directly from it because using another mail provider can slow things. Also, when I send 300.000 emails to my subscribers, email provider will surely block me thinking I send spam. My DNS zone now is: ; ; GSMFORUM.RU ; $TTL 1H gsmforum.ru. SOA ns1.hc.ru. support.hc.ru. • Multiple Homed Windows 2008 Server / Windows 7 Client

  I have a small Windows 2008 network, with some Windows 7 clients. The clients are both laptops with docking stations and I would like them to communicate with the Windows 2008 server (for filesharing) through the wired network whilst they're docked. Internet connectivity for all machines (clients and server) is via a Wireless LAN, so the wireless adapter in the Windows 7 clients stays active while they're docked. When the laptops are un-docked, it would be nice to still be able to contact the windows 2008 server for print sharing (and slower file sharing) - hence the server also being on the wireless LAN. The windows 2008 server is running Active Directory, DHCP and DNS. It controls DHCP leases on the wired network and holds the DNS records for "myserver.mycompany.local", which is what the filesharing clients connect to. Ideally I'd like the DNS records to return the wired IP first so that this is the address that the laptops will attempt initially - but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that? At present the server's IP on the wireless LAN comes out of an nslookup above the wired Lan IP. The multi-homing works perfectly - but in the wrong order! Switch on the wireless lan and ping myserver and it goes to the wireless IP. Disable the wireless on the client and do the same ping again and after a couple of seconds it starts pinging the wired address. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this work in a predictable order? - or even if it can work. Alternative 1? If it can't work, then would this work: Remove the wireless adapter from the server, put a wireless router/bridge on the wired network (set up to route to/from the wireless LAN's subnet), then configure the clients with two routes to the (now) single IP of the server with metrics favouring direct communication over the wired LAN first? Alternative 2? Should I instead single-home the laptops so all of their connectivity is via the wired-LAN while they're docked? (and route via the windows 2008 server - or a dedicated wireless bridge/router)? My concern here is that I'd like undocking to be seamless - and if the clients are in the middle of downloading something from the internet I wouldn't want whatever they're doing interupted as they switch IP addresses onto the Wireless network. Perhaps this isn't the case and I'm concerned over nothing? Any thoughts? :) UPDATE I seem to have cracked it (at least DNS entries come out in the order I hope for - and pinging the server with various combinations of wired, wireless and both interfaces enabled uses the IP I want) ... I set the binding order of the NICs on the Server (which is acting as Domain Controller, DHCP and DNS server) so that the Wired NIC is before the Wireless adapter. (Start -- type "Network Interfaces" -- Select "View Network Connections" -- Press Alt to show classic dropdown menus -- Advanced -- Advanced Settings) Now, an nslookup (from the client) of the server's hostname returns the Wired IP first, followed by the Wireless IP. The wired IP now seems to be used whenever it's contactable. Incidentally, the metrics on the wired and wireless routes (on the client) also favour the wired LAN (based on Windows' automatically assigned metrics) - but this was always the case, even when I was having trouble getting the wired IP to be "favoured". I'm not entirely sure if this is coincidence - or if a DNS server running on Windows, handing back IP addresses for itself does actually take the binding order of it's own network interfaces into account? It would be interesting to hear from someone who can confirm or deny that (or confirm that the binding order on the server plays a role for some other reason?)

• Did a recent WinXP update break CD/DVD read speeds? SP2/SP3

  I have two systems with fresh installations of Windows XP Pro SP3 (SP3 slipstreamed into the installer; fully updated after install). One's a refurbished 2.4GHz Pentium4 system; the other is a new 1.6GHz Atom330 build. Both have brand-new dual-layer CD/DVD burners (one's a LiteOn IDE, the other an LG SATA). Both take a really looooong time to read a single-layer DVD in Windows with Cygwin tools. Specifically, 40 minutes or more. I burn backup data to single-layer DVD+/-R and use MD5 hashes for data verification (made with the standard md5sum tool in Unix or Cygwin). The hashes are burned to disc with the data files, and I use this command to verify: $ cd /path/to/disc/mountpoint ; time md5sum -c < md5.txt Here's how long that takes to run on a full single-layer DVD+/-R disc: Old system (WinXP SP2, 1.8GHz Athlon 2500+, last summer): ~10 minutes Old system (Ubuntu 9.04, 1.8GHz Athlon 2500+): ~10 minutes Old system (Debian 5, dual 550MHz P3): ~10 minutes New Pentium4 system (running Ubuntu 9.04): ~5 minutes New Pentium4 system (running WinXP SP3, file copy from Win Explorer): ~6 minutes New Atom330 system (running WinXP SP3, file copy from Win Explorer): ~6 minutes Now the weird stuff: Old system (WinXP SP2, 1.8GHz Athlon 2500+, today): ~25 minutes New Pentium4 system (running WinXP SP3, read from Cygwin): ~40-50 minutes (?!!) New Atom330 system (running WinXP SP3, read from Cygwin): ~40 minutes (can do it in ~30 minutes ...if i have another program spin up the drive first) Since both systems will copy files in 6 minutes using Windows Explorer, I know it's not a hardware problem. Windows just never spins up the drive during the Cygwin read, so it stays super-slow the whole time. Other programs like EAC and DVD Decrypter seem to spin up the disc just fine during their processing. DMA is enabled on both systems. (Can confirm in Windows' Device Manager on the Atom330, not on the P4.) Nero's DriveSpeed tool doesn't seem to have any effect. Copy times are comparable from commandline with Windows' xcopy. Copying with Cygwin's cp looks more like the problem state -- it will spin up the drive for a short time, never reaches full speed, and lets it spin back down again for most of the copy. What I need is to get full read speeds from Cygwin. Is this a known issue with SP3 or some other recent Windows update? Any other ideas? Update: More testing; Windows will spin up the drive when data is copied with Windows tools, but not when read in place or copied with Cygwin tools. It doesn't make sense to me that Windows spins up the drive for copying, but not for other reads. Might be more of a Cygwin problem? Update 2: GUI activity is sluggish during the problem state -- during the Cygwin verifies, there's a slight but noticable delay when dragging windows or icons around on the desktop, switching windows, Alt-Tabbing through open applications, opening new windows, etc. It reminds me of the delay when opening a Windows Explorer window on My Computer just after inserting a DVD. I've tried updating Cygwin (from 1.5.x to 1.7.x), but no change in the problem behavior. I've also noticed this issue occurs on WinXP SP2, but it's not exactly the same -- some spin-up occurs, so the read happens in ~25-30 minutes instead of 40+. The SP2 system used to run the verifies in ~10 minutes, and when it first changed (not sure exactly when, maybe in late November or early December 2009) I thought it was dying hardware. This is why I suspect an official update of breaking this functionality; this has worked for years on that SP2 box.

• Vista 64-bit, DISK BOOT FAILURE

  So I have this Acer Aspire AX3200-U3600A with Windows Vista (64-bit). Every night I turn it off and turn it back on in the morning. Around three weeks ago, I did a fresh factory reimage. Good as new. Then around two days ago, when I turned it on, I noticed it was running extremly slow. As in, it would often freeze up while I had multiple applications open when it usually never froze up. So I decided to restart my computer. Big mistake. My computer froze right after I clicked shut-down. I waited a while. Nothing. Waited some minutes. Nope. I decided to shut it down by pressing the power button. Here is where the problems begin. When I turned it back on, I saw the Windows logo and loading bar and then it loaded to black. I turned it off again forcefully by power button and then once more... then I got: AMD Data Change... Update New Data to DMI! then later the screen clears and I get: AHCI Option ROM BIOS Revision: 01.05.92 Date: 02-19-2008 Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Phoenix Technologies, LTD Port 01: Reset Port Error!! Port 02: then the screen clears again but this time, this loads from the bottom: Nvidia Boot Agent 249.0542 (copyright stuff... blah blah) PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting Nvidia Boot Agent DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. So I try to go into Safe Mode. Well, first of all it doesn't load as fast. After it loads disk.sys from windows/drivers, it will wait a while (2-3 mins) THEN load. However it loads the Acer eRecovery Management Tool. I have three options: Reset computer to factory default, Restore computer from user's backup, or Exit. However, the top two options are gray and disabled where as the Exit is in blue and definitely clickable. So obviously safe mode is not there... A strong thing to note: In the beginning when all of this started, I did a Boot Windows Normal from pressing f8 and I got to my desktop! It logged me in. I could see the icons on my files. However my desktop was extremely slow as in when I clicked on the Start menu, it would wait a while, then load up the menu with JUST the gradient, no text or icons... so as you can see... it saw my HDD? Also, before anyone says, I have NO USB plugged in. My mouse and keyboard are not USB inputs, I assure you. And this came without a recovery CD AND when I went in BIOS, to change the BOOT ORDER, I did NOT see a CD-ROM option. And when I tried pressing ALT+F10 to get into Acer eRecovery Management, the top two options were disabled as well. But sometimes on start-up, I get: Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removeable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer. If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer. Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured. Then I tried Last Known Good Configuration Settings, that gives me a BSOD. What should I do/

  I'm just blocking to how create my group_concat with my sql request in CodeIgniter. All my queries are listed in a table, using Jtable library. All work fine, except when I try to insert GROUP_CONCAT.   Hi, I'm using Dojo.dnd to transfer items between to areas. The problem is: the items will snap into place once I drop them, but I'd like to have them stay where I drop them, but only for one area. Here's a little code to explain this better: <div id="dropZone" class="dropZone"> <div id="itemNodes"></div> <div id="targetZone" dojoType="dojo.dnd.Source"></div> </div> "dropZone" is a DIV that contains two dojo.dnd.Source-areas, "itemNodes" (created programmatically) and "targetZone". Items (DIVs with images) should be dragged from a simple list out of "itemNodes" into "targetZone" and stay where they are dropped. As soon as they are dragged out of "targetZone" they should snap back to the list inside "itemNodes". Here's the code I use to create the items: var nodelist = new dojo.dnd.Source("itemNodes"); {Smarty-Loop} nodelist.insertNodes(false, ['<img class="dragItem" src="{$items->info.itemtext}" alt="{$items->info.itemtext}" border="0" />']); {/Smarty-Loop} But this way I just have two lists of items, the items dropped into "targetZone" won't stay where I dropped them. I've tried a loop dojo.query(".dojoDndItem").forEach(function(node) to grab all items and change them to a "moveable"-type: using dojo.dnd.move.constrainedMoveable will change the items so they can always be moved around (even in "itemNodes") using dojo.dnd.move.boxConstrainedMoveable and defining the "box" to the borders of "targetZone" makes it possible to just move the items around inside "targetZone", but as soon as I drop them, I can't grab and move them back out So here's the question: is it possible to create two dnd.Sources where I can move items back and forth and let the items be "moveable" only in one of the sources?Or is there a workaround like making the items moveable and if they're not dropped into "targetZone" they'll be moved back to the list in "itemNodes" automatically? Once the page is submitted, I have to save the position of every item that has been placed into "targetZone". (The next step will be positioning the items inside "targetZone" on page load if the grid has already been filled before, but I'd be happy to just get the thing working in the first place.) • How to debug nondeterministic access violation crash?

  Our C#/COM/C++ application is crashing and I need help debugging it. Running with gflags enabled and WinDbg attached, we determined the crashes are caused by an access violation, but we haven't been able to narrow it down any more than that. We are not seeing the issue on all machines; there are a couple of machines that seem to reproduce the issue frequently but not deterministically. • GWT & HTML5 Video in Mobile Safari

  I'm trying to code a site in GWT that plays videos with HTML5. Everything works great on the desktop, but mobile Safari on both the iPhone and iPad do not play the video. I can play a video using Video for Everybody. I've even copied the code to my own plain HTML page, and it works flawlessly. If I serve that same code via a GWT widget, mobile safari will not play the video. On the iPhone I see a gray box with a prohibitory sign around the play button, and on the iPad it shows up as a black box. I've made sure my doctype is <!DOCTYPE html>, but I don't know where else to start debugging. Perhaps it it because the code is injected via javascript? Any pointers on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated. • tinymce not working with chrome when i dynamically setcontent

  Hello i am using the AsyncFileUpload from the ajaxtoolkit, upter the upload is complete , i want to display all the images that were uploaded (and their URL is inserted into the DB) with my repeater and binding method. but its not working! the images are uploaded, the DB insert works file, but i cant see the images after the repeater is dinded. • ASPX ajax form post help

  Hey all, i have this peice of code that allows a user to select a jpg image, resize it and uploads it to the server driectory. The problem being is that it reloads the aspx page when it saves the image. My question is-is there any way to do this same thing but with ajax so that it doesn't leave the page after submitting it? • z-index issues with jQuery Tabs, Superfish Menu

  Hi all, For the life of me I cannot get my Superfish menu to stop hiding behind my jQuery UI tabs in IE 7. I have read the documentation out there, have tried changing z-index values and tried the bgIframe plugin, although I am not sure if I am implementing it correctly (left out in my example below, using Supersubs).   Overview I am trying to get a photo feed on to my site using Flickr's api and the phpflickr library. I can successfully get the photoset on to my site, but it shows all the photos from every photoset, what I was hoping to achieve was to show the primary photo from each photoset, and then if the user clicked on the image it would show the full photoset in a lightbox/shadowbox. • Tabular (X)HTML forms

  I have a set of items that can be in various states. I want to allow a user to use an (X)HTML form to change the state, and easily view the state of a group of objects ...so to this end, I'd like a layout like: | item1 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | | item2 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | etc. I prefer the radio buttons to list boxes so that it's easy for a user to visually scan for things in a certain state. It seemed like perfectly tabular data to me. The only problem is, you can't have forms inside a table that cross table cells (ie. <tr> <form> <td> ... is invalid). I thought, "hey, I could have one giant form wrapping a table, and make the [update button] value contain the IDs for each row!" Turns out certain versions of IE send ALL THE SUBMIT BUTTON VALUES on any single form. So I thought perhaps to to lay it out with <div>s and place the forms inside a single <td>. But then they break a line on each <div>. So I fixed their width and made them float: left. But then they wrap inside the table cells if the table row is wider than the page, and the radio controls don't line up with the headings. Is it possible to lay this out as I intend? The XHTML below shows the intended structure.   Since SO's question database is becoming an excellent first point of call for finding answers to coding problems, some people (like me) might like to be able to fire up searches from their iGoogle home page, among the other searches you might launch from there. I've created a very simple gadget to do this, and put the source below. My hope is that this might provide a foundation on which community members with better ideas for performing this function, or ideas for enhancing it, can update it. • HTML/CSS - How can I position these nested unordered lists correctly?

  I am looking for some help resolving an issue im having with positioning the following unordered list elements that are contained in a div which has relative positioning: The html structure of the UL: <div id="accountBox" class="account_settings_box"> <ul> <ul> <li class="profileImage"><img src="images/profileimage.jpg" alt="Profile Image" /></li> <li class="profileName">Your name</li> <li class="profileEmail">Your email</li> </ul> <li><a href="">Messages</a></li> <li><a href="">Settings</a></li> <li><a href="">Password</a></li> <li><a href="">Sign out</a></li> </ul> </div> and the CSS for this list: .account_settings_box ul ul { display: inline-block; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; height: 150px; outline: 1px solid blue; } .account_settings_box ul ul li { display: inline-block; border: none; /* Reset the border */ } .profileImage { float: right; display: block; width: 150px; height: 150px; outline: 1px solid purple; } .profileName, .profileEmail { width: auto; height: auto; width: 150px; height: 150px; } .account_settings_box ul ul li:hover { outline: 1px solid red; } .profileImage img { width: 150px; height: 150px; } I am having difficultly with the embedded ul, i.e, .account_settings_box ul ul element. • WinForms Form won't close on pressing X or Close() in C#

  I'm having a bit weird problem with WinForm which seems to refuse to close for some weird reason. I've got very simple gui which sometimes doesn't react for me pressing X or when i use events on buttons it even reaches Close() and does nothing.. private void buttonZapisz_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string plik = textBoxDokumentDoZaladowania.Text; if (File.Exists(plik)) { string extension = Path.GetExtension(plik); string nazwaPliku = Path.GetFileName(plik); SqlMethods.databaseFilePut(plik, comboBoxTypDokumentu.Text, textBoxKomentarz.Text, sKlienciID, sPortfelID, extension, nazwaPliku); Close(); } } There are no events assigned to FormClosed or FormClosing. So how can I find out what's wrong. Sometimes X will work after the GUI is loaded but after i press Button to save some stuff to database it reaches Close() in that button event and it still is visible and does nothing. Can't use X, nor ALT+F4. I can go around GUI and choose other values for ComboBox without problem. I can open up same GUI and after opening new GUI i can quickly close it. GUI is very simple with few ComboBoxes,TextBoxes and one EditButton from Devexpress.
