• Spring security ldap: no declaration can be found for element 'ldap-authentication-provider'

• NSFetchedResultsController fetch request - updating predicate and UITableView

  In my iPhone Core Data app I have it configured in a master-detail view setup. The master view is a UITableView that lists objects of the List entity. The List entity has a to-many relationship with the Task entity (called "tasks"), and the Task entity has an inverse to-one relationship with List called "list". When a List object is selected in the master view, I want the detail view (another UITableView) to list the Task objects that correspond to that List object. However, when I select a list item, nothing really happens. Nothing in the table view changes, it stays empty. I'm sure my logic is flawed in several places, advice is appreciated Thanks

• Loop through values and display in a pdf file

  Hello all! i have written the following code: As you can see there is a for loop to go through some values and display them in the generated pdf. The problem is that all the values are being written at the same place. I have tried to insert a new line but it does not seem to work. Can anyone suggest me how i can do it? • Fixing predicated NSFetchedResultsController/NSFetchRequest performance with SQLite backend?

  I have a series of NSFetchedResultsControllers powering some table views, and their performance on device was abysmal, on the order of seconds. Since it all runs on main thread, it's blocking my app at startup, which is not great. I investigated and turns out the predicate is the problem: NSPredicate *somePredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"ANY somethings == %@", something]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:somePredicate]; I.e the fetch entity, call it "things", has a many-to-many relation with entity "something". This predicate is a filter that limits the results to only things that have a relation with a particular "something". When I removed the predicate for testing, fetch time (the initial performFetch: call) dropped (for some extreme cases) from 4 seconds to around 100ms or less, which is acceptable. I am troubled by this, though, as it negates a lot of the benefit I was hoping to gain with Core Data and NSFRC, which otherwise seems like a powerful tool. So, my question is, how can I optimize this performance? Am I using the predicate wrong? Should I modify the model/schema somehow? And what other ways there are to fix this? Is this kind of degraded performance to be expected? (There are on the order of hundreds of <1KB objects.) (Apart from going to a binary store where this becomes a non-issue, so I might do that. Binary store performance is consistently ~100ms for the above 200-object predicated query.) I suspected about the maximum number of arguments being a limitation, but I tried to change it through defining FUSION_MAX_VECTOR_SIZE without success. I am unable to see what am I doing wrong. Can you reproduce this? Can it be a boost bug (i doubt it but is not impossible)?

• PHP SimpleXML recursive function to list children and attibutes

  I need some help on the SimpleXML calls for a recursive function that lists the elements name and attributes. Making a XML config file system but each script will have it's own config file as well as a new naming convention. So what I need is an easy way to map out all the elements that have attributes, so like in example 1 I need a simple way to call all the processes but I don't know how to do this without hard coding the elements name is the function call. Is there a way to recursively call a function to match a child element name? I did see the xpath functionality but I don't see how to use this for attributes. Any ideas? Also does the XML in the examples look correct? can I structure my XML like this? • HOWTO: disable jmx in activemq network of brokers (spring, xbean)

  Since I've struggled a lot with this problem, I am posting my solution. Disabling jmx in an activemq network of brokers removes race conditions about the registration of the jmx connector. When starting multiple activemq servers on the same machine: Failed to start jmx connector: Cannot bind to URL [rmi://localhost:1099/jmxrmi]: javax.naming.NameAlreadyBoundException: jmxrmi [Root exception is java.rmi.AlreadyBoundException: jmxrmi] Another problem with this is, that even if you don't cause a race condition, this exception can still occur. Even when starting one broker after another while waiting for them to initialize properly in between. If one process is run by root as the first instance and the other as a normal user, somehow the user process tries to register its own jmx connector, though there already is one. Or another exception which happens when the broker that successfully registered the jmx connector goes down: Failed to start jmx connector: Cannot bind to URL [rmi://localhost:1099/jmxrmi]: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException [Root exception is java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: localhost; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused] Those exceptions cause the network of brokers to stop working, or to not work at all. The trick to disable jmx was, that jmx had to be disabled in the connectionfactory aswell. The documentation http://activemq.apache.org/jmx.html does not say that this is needed explicitly.   Hi, I'm using Dojo.dnd to transfer items between to areas. The problem is: the items will snap into place once I drop them, but I'd like to have them stay where I drop them, but only for one area. Here's a little code to explain this better: <div id="dropZone" class="dropZone"> <div id="itemNodes"></div> <div id="targetZone" dojoType="dojo.dnd.Source"></div> </div> "dropZone" is a DIV that contains two dojo.dnd.Source-areas, "itemNodes" (created programmatically) and "targetZone". Items (DIVs with images) should be dragged from a simple list out of "itemNodes" into "targetZone" and stay where they are dropped. As soon as they are dragged out of "targetZone" they should snap back to the list inside "itemNodes". Once the page is submitted, I have to save the position of every item that has been placed into "targetZone". (The next step will be positioning the items inside "targetZone" on page load if the grid has already been filled before, but I'd be happy to just get the thing working in the first place.) I also see the call to the InternalConverter.Convert method, which sees the expected parameters (I see the collection provided by the nested {Binding}) and is successfully able to retrieve the ICollectionView for the incoming collection. The only problem is that FilterInternal never gets called. The template is ultimately being used by a TreeView, if that's relevant. I haven't been able to figure out why the FilterInternal method is not being called and I was hoping somebody might be able to offer some insight.

• How does mysql define DISTINCT() in reference documentation

  EDIT: This question is about finding definitive reference to MySQL syntax on SELECT modifying keywords and functions. /EDIT AFAIK SQL defines two uses of DISTINCT keywords - SELECT DISTINCT field... and SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT field) ... However in one of web applications that I administer I've noticed performance issues on queries like SELECT DISTINCT(field1), field2, field3 ... DISTINCT() on a single column makes no sense and I am almost sure it is interpreted as SELECT DISTINCT field1, field2, field3 ... but how can I prove this? I've searched mysql site for a reference on this particular syntax, but could not find any. Does anyone have a link to definition of DISTINCT() in mysql or knows about other authoritative source on this? Best EDIT After asking the same question on mysql forums I learned that while parsing the SQL mysql does not care about whitespace between functions and column names (but I am still missing a reference). As it seems you can have whitespace between functions and the parenthesis SELECT LEFT (field1,1), field2... and get mysql to understand it as SELECT LEFT(field,1) Similarly SELECT DISTINCT(field1), field2... seems to get decomposed to SELECT DISTINCT (field1), field2... and then DISTINCT is taken not as some undefined (or undocumented) function, but as SELECT modifying keyword and the parenthesis around field1 are evaluated as if they were part of field expression. It would be great if someone would have a pointer to documentation where it is stated that the whitespace between functions and parenthesis is not significant or to provide links to apropriate MySQL forums, mailing lists where I could raise a question to put this into reference. EDIT I have found a reference to server option IGNORE SPACE. It states that "The IGNORE SPACE SQL mode can be used to modify how the parser treats function names that are whitespace-sensitive", later on it states that recent versions of mysql have reduced this number from 200 to 30. One of the remaining 30 is COUNT for example. With IGNORE SPACE enabled both SELECT COUNT(*) FROM mytable; SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable; are legal. So if this is an exception, I am left to conclude that normally functions ignore space by default. If functions ignore space by default then if the context is ambiguous, such as for the first function on a first item of the select expression, then they are not distinguishable from keywords and the error can not be thrown and MySQL must accept them as keywords. Still, my conclusions feel like they have lot of assumptions, I would still be grateful and accept any pointers to see where to follow up on this.

• How to best design a date/geographic proximity query on GAE?

  Hi all, I'm building a directory for finding athletic tournaments on GAE with web2py and a Flex front end. The user selects a location, a radius, and a maximum date from a set of choices. I have a basic version of this query implemented, but it's inefficient and slow. One way I know I can improve it is by condensing the many individual queries I'm using to assemble the objects into bulk queries. I just learned that was possible. But I'm also thinking about a more extensive redesign that utilizes memcache. The main problem is that I can't query the datastore by location because GAE won't allow multiple numerical comparison statements (<,<=,=,) in one query. I'm already using one for date, and I'd need TWO to check both latitude and longitude, so it's a no go. Currently, my algorithm looks like this: 1.) Query by date and select 2.) Use destination function from geopy's distance module to find the max and min latitude and longitudes for supplied distance 3.) Loop through results and remove all with lat/lng outside max/min 4.) Loop through again and use distance function to check exact distance, because step 2 will include some areas outside the radius. Remove results outside supplied distance (is this 2/3/4 combination inefficent?) 5.) Assemble many-to-many lists and attach to objects (this is where I need to switch to bulk operations) 6.) Return to client Here's my plan for using memcache.. let me know if I'm way out in left field on this as I have no prior experience with memcache or server caching in general. -Keep a list in the cache filled with "geo objects" that represent all my data. These have five properties: latitude, longitude, event_id, event_type (in anticipation of expanding beyond tournaments), and start_date. This list will be sorted by date. -Also keep a dict of pointers in the cache which represent the start and end indices in the cache for all the date ranges my app uses (next week, 2 weeks, month, 3 months, 6 months, year, 2 years). -Have a scheduled task that updates the pointers daily at 12am. -Add new inserts to the cache as well as the datastore; update pointers. Using this design, the algorithm would now look like: 1.) Use pointers to slice off appropriate chunk of list based on supplied date. 2-4.) Same as above algorithm, except with geo objects 5.) Use bulk operation to select full tournaments using remaining geo objects' event_ids 6.) Assemble many-to-manys 7.) Return to client Thoughts on this approach? • Django manager for _set in model

  Hello, I'm in the progress of learning Django at the moment but I can't figure out how to solve this problem on my own. I'm reading the book Developers Library - Python Web Development With Django and in one chapter you build a simple CMS system with two models (Story and Category), some generic and custom views together with templates for the views. The book only contains code for listing stories, story details and search. I wanted to expand on that and build a page with nested lists for categories and stories. - Category1 -- Story1 -- Story2 - Category2 - Story3 etc. I managed to figure out how to add my own generic object_list view for the category listing. My problem is that the Story model have STATUS_CHOICES if the Story is public or not and a custom manager that'll only fetch the public Stories per default. I can't figure out how to tell my generic Category list view to also use a custom manager and only fetch the public Stories. Everything works except that small problem. I'm able to create a list for all categories with a sub list for all stories in that category on a single page, the only problem is that the list contains non public Stories. I don't know if I'm on the right track here. My urls.py contains a generic view that fetches all Category objects and in my template I'm using the *category.story_set.all* to get all Story objects for that category, wich I then loop over. I think it would be possible to add a if statement in the template and use the VIEWABLE_STATUS from my model file to check if it should be listed or not. The problem with that solution is that it's not very DRY compatible. Is it possible to add some kind of manager for the Category model too that only will fetch in public Story objects when using the story_set on a category? Or is this the wrong way to attack my problem? • How to construct a flowchart/storyboard in a Func Spec

  Hey I'm a bit embarrassed to write a post on this topic, but I would appreciate the help. At my school, the CS kids (myself included) have created a nice, little program that is built for incoming Chem/Bio students. It consists of several modules that reviews topics they should have a firm grasp on before they start their classes. It's a nice tool since it cuts down on reviewing the material in class but also allows the students to do a quick diagnostic to fix any problems. Now, I'm in charge of constructing a simple interface that reports on the progress of the group and individual students. The interface is pretty simple. It's just a window that pops up, and it has three tabs: the first tab is a "cumulative" report of all of students. The secnod tab has a drop down box that lists the students and once a student is selected, a report for him/her comes up. And the third tab is simply a description of all of the terms used in the 1st and 2nd tabs. Now, I'm trying to be a good CS student and write a func. spec for my interface. My problem comes with the fact that I'd like to insert a little flowchart using Visio. Problem is, and I'm quite embarrassed to admit this, I don't know how to construct the flowchart/storyboard. For instance, I know I start with a "Start/Click Icon" in a rectangle. Then where do I go? Do I draw three arrrows (one going to each tab) and then describing what goes on? In tab one, the only thing that happens is that the user will select a "sort" method in the drop down box. This will sort the list. The End. Similarly, if the user selects the second tab, then he will go to a drop down box with the student names. Selecting a name will bring up student info. And the third tab is just a list of unfamiliar terms coming from the first or second tab. I wanted to storyboard/flowchart what I'm doing, but I'm unclear how to go about it. Any help would be appreciated! (Just to clarify, I'm not having trouble with using Visio, but I don't know how one goes about construct a storyboard or determining the procedure for constructing one)

• Setting up NCover for NUnit in FinalBuilder

  I am attempting to set up NCover for usage in my FinalBuilder project, for a .NET 4.0 C# project, but my final coverage output file contains no coverage data. I am using: NCover 3.3.2 NUnit 2.5.4 FinalBuilder 6.3.0.2004 All tools are the latest official as of today. I've finally managed to coax FB into running my unit tests under NCover for the .NET 4.0 project, so I get Tests run: 184, ..., which is correct. • Haskell newbie on types

  I'm completely new to Haskell (and more generally to functional programming), so forgive me if this is really basic stuff. To get more than a taste, I try to implement in Haskell some algorithmic stuff I'm working on. I have a simple module Interval that implements intervals on the line. It contains the type data Interval t = Interval t t the helper function makeInterval :: (Ord t) => t -> t -> Interval t makeInterval l r | l <= r = Interval l r | otherwise = error "bad interval" and some utility functions about intervals. Here, my interest lies in multidimensional intervals (d-intervals), those objects that are composed of d intervals. I want to separately consider d-intervals that are the union of d disjoint intervals on the line (multiple interval) from those that are the union of d interval on d separate lines (track interval). With distinct algorithmic treatments in mind, I think it would be nice to have two distinct types (even if both are lists of intervals here) such as import qualified Interval as I -- Multilple interval newtype MInterval t = MInterval [I.Interval t] -- Track interval newtype TInterval t = TInterval [I.Interval t] to allow for distinct sanity checks, e.g. makeMInterval :: (Ord t) => [I.Interval t] -> MInterval t makeMInterval is = if foldr (&&) True [I.precedes i i' | (i, i') <- zip is (tail is)] then (MInterval is) else error "bad multiple interval" makeTInterval :: (Ord t) => [I.Interval t] -> TInterval t makeTInterval = TInterval I now get to the point, at last! But some functions are naturally concerned with both multiple intervals and track intervals. For example, a function order would return the number of intervals in a multiple interval or a track interval. What can I do? Adding -- Dimensional interval data DInterval t = MIntervalStuff (MInterval t) | TIntervalStuff (TInterval t) does not help much, since, if I understand well (correct me if I'm wrong), I would have to write order :: DInterval t -> Int order (MIntervalStuff (MInterval is)) = length is order (TIntervalStuff (TInterval is)) = length is and call order as order (MIntervalStuff is) or order (TIntervalStuff is) when is is a MInterval or a TInterval. Not that great, it looks odd. Neither I want to duplicate the function (I have many functions that are concerned with both multiple and track intevals, and some other d-interval definitions such as equal length multiple and track intervals). I'm left with the feeling that I'm completely wrong and have missed some important point about types in Haskell (and/or can't forget enough here about OO programming). So, quite a newbie question, what would be the best way in Haskell to deal with such a situation? Do I have to forget about introducing MInterval and TInterval and go with one type only?
