  What do others do to simplify the creation of simple, serial surrogate keys populated by a SEQUENCE (a.k.a. GENERATOR) in Firebird = 2.1? I finc the process comparatively arduous: For example, in PostgreSQL, I simply type: pg> CREATE TABLE tbl ( > id SERIAL NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, > ... • cannot open file cua in second instance of emacs

  i get the following error when trying to open a second instance of emacs: File error: "Cannot open load file" , "cua" I guess I don't HAVE to open another instance of emacs (that is the beauty after all), I was just trying to keep some things separated (specifically work - like code and debug - and play - like news). Would there be any reason I could not open two instances of emacs if I use cua.el?

• How to set up RPX widget and facebook app to be able to authenticate with rpx_now?

  Using the sample app for rpx_now gem ( http://github.com/grosser/rpx_now_example) on localhost:3000, I have successfully logged in via Google Accounts, myOpenID, Yahoo, but cannot make it via Facebook. In the RPX app/widget settings I have set my facebook-app key and secret. In my facebook app settings, the Connect URL is myappname.rpxnow.com. But when I try to connect, then I don't even see a facebook login page, just a number of redirects and I am back to my localhost with the following exception http://gist.github.com/386520 . Before I was successfully connecting with oauth2 gem, however, without fetching user data - only authentication. That time I set only key/secret and localhost as my Connect URL. Currently, I don't even ask for email etc., but still the same problem. Can it happen because rpx_now cannot get requested user data from facebook? Or it is a problem of facebook key/secret? May be I need to provide more settings of my facebook app? • ASP.NET required field validator firing on focus in Firefox

  I have 2 asp.net textboxes in an update panel. Both textbox controls have some javascript attached to autotab to the next field and to allow only numeric input. When I enter some data into the first field and press enter, focus shifts to the next field and the requiredfieldvalidator of the second field displays its "* required" error message, even though I've just entered the field. This is only happening in Firefox. • Adapting Machine Learning Algorithms to my Problem

  i'm working on a project and need your ideas, advices. First of all, let me tell my problem. There is power button and some other keys of a machine and there is only one user has authentication to use this machine.There are no other authentication methods, the machine is in public area in a company. the machine is working with the combination of pressing power button and some other keys. The order of pressing keys is secret but we don't trust it, anybody can learn the password and can access the machine. i have the capability of managing the key hold time and also some other metrics to measure the time differences between the key such as horizantal or vertical key press times (differences). and also i can measure the hold time etc. These all means i have some inputs, Now i'm trying to get a user profile by analysing these inputs. My idea is to get the authenticated user to press the password n times and create a threshold or something similar to that. This method also can be said BIOMETRICS, anyone else who knows the machine button combination, can try the password but if he is out of this range can not get access it. How can i adapt these into my algorithms? where should i start ? i don't want to delve deep into machine learning, and also i can see the in my first try i can get false positive and false negative values really high, but i can manage it by changing my inputs. thanks.

Because my app has no config xml file for setting the Enterprise Library settings, it is throwing an error, specifically: "The configuration section for Logging cannot be found in the configuration source." "Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Logging" I would rather not add an XML config file to my app to just turn off Enterprise Library. Is there a code way to do so in my the source for my app?   When i use new XStream().toXml(someObject); it returns following xml... <response> <status>SUCCESS</status> <isOwnershipVerified class="boolean">false</isOwnershipVerified> </response> and, when i use new XStream(new JsonHierarchicalStreamDriver()).toXml(someObject); it returns following json... {"response": { "status": "SUCCESS", "isOwnershipVerified": { "@class": "boolean""false"} }} Now, since i want to get rid of class attribute altogether (read it not to alias it with anything else, but to remove it) i use following code. XStream xStream = new XStream(); StringWriter writer = new StringWriter(); xStream.marshal(this, new PrettyPrintWriter(writer) { @Override public void addAttribute(final String key, final String value) { if (!key.equals("class")) { super.addAttribute(key, value); } } }); return writer.toString(); which gives follwing xml... <response> <status>SUCCESS</status> <isOwnershipVerified>false</isOwnershipVerified> </response> but, when i pass new JsonHierarchicalStreamDriver() while xStream object creation above, it does NOT return json. it returns the same xml shown above. Bag | +-> BagID (Guid) +-> BagNumber (Int) BagCommentRelation | +-> BagID (Int) +-> CommentID (Guid) BagComment | +-> CommentID (Guid) +-> Text (varchar(200)) BagCommentRelation has Foreign Keys to Bag and BagComment. So, I turned on cascading deletes for both those Foreign Keys, but when I delete a bag, it does not delete the Comment row. Do need to break out a trigger for this? Or am I missing something? (I am using SQL Server 2008) Note: Posting requested SQL. This is the defintion of the BagCommentRelation table. (I had the type of the bagID wrong (I thought it was a guid but it is an int).) • YUI DataTable - Howto have just one paginator?

  Hello, I'm using the YUI DataTable in a Grails 1.1 project using the Grails UI plugin 1.0.2 (YUI being 2.6.1). By default, the DataTable displays 2 paginators: one above and another one below the table. Looking up the YUI API documentation, I could see that I can pass an array of YUI containers as a config parameter but - what are the names of these containers? I've tried loooking at the HTML of the page using Firebug. The ID of the divs containing the paginators are: yui-dt0-paginator0 (above) and yui-dt0-paginator1 (below). If I use them to configure the containers for the navigator, then the navigator is just not displayed at all.   I'm trying to add a range of - 365 days and + 365 days but it appears that using this attribute in EL 4.1 only accepts a special ISO formatted string ... thus I can't simply add a normal string to this validation routine. <DateTimeRangeValidator(DateTime.Now.AddDays(2), DateTime.Now.AddDays(4))> _ I wanted to do something similar to the above - fyi Does anyone know how you can force this attribute to accept this ISO formatted string w/out hand coding this value?

  I've got the following query: ATable .GroupBy(x=> new {FieldA = x.FieldAID, FieldB = x.FieldBID, FieldC = x.FieldCID}) .Select(x=>new {FieldA = x.Key.FieldA, ..., last_seen = x.OrderByDescending(y=>y.Timestamp).FirstOrDefault().Timestamp}) results in: SqlException: Invalid column name 'FieldAID' x 5 SqlException: Invalid column name 'FieldBID' x 5 SqlException: Invalid column name 'FieldCID' x 1 I've worked out it has to do with the last query to Timestamp because this works: ATable .GroupBy(x=> new {FieldA = x.FieldAID, FieldB = x.FieldBID, FieldC = x.FieldCID}) .Select(x=>new {FieldA = x.Key.FieldA, ..., last_seen = x.OrderByDescending(y=>y.Timestamp).FirstOrDefault()}) The query has been simplified. The purpose is to group by a set of variables and then show the last time this grouping occured in the db. I'm using Linqpad 4 to generate these results so the Timestamp gives me a string whereas FirstOrDefault gives me the whole object which isn't ideal. Update On further testing I've noticed that the number and type of SQLException is related to the class created in the groupby clause. So, ATable .GroupBy(x=> new {FieldA = x.FieldAID}) .Select(x=>new {FieldA = x.Key.FieldA, last_seen = x.OrderByDescending(y=>y.Timestamp).FirstOrDefault()}) results in SqlException: Invalid column name 'FieldAID' x 5

  I tried to answer the question from Mark: Keymap issues with NX from Mac OS X Lion to Ubuntu However, it is locked so I figured I would post a new question / answer. I have been trying to answer this for a few days now because I have no issues when connecting through NX Client (technically OpenNX) to FreeNX server from an iMac (with Lion), but if I try to connect with a Macbook Pro I get horrible keyboard binding issues. The fix that is working for me is to go into: ~/.nx/config/HOST.nxs and change: <option key="Current keyboard" value="false"/> <option key="Custom keyboard layout" value="empty"/> <option key="Grab keyboard" value="false"/> I have tried this on three NX Servers and all are fixed. Hope it helps or gets you closer. • Regarding Toplink Fetching Policy

  Hi, I'm working for a Swing Project and the technologies used are netbeans with Toplink essentials, mysql. The Problem I'm facing is the entity object dosn't get updated after insertions take place while calling a getter collection of the foreign key property. Ex: I have 2 tables Table1,Table2. I have sno column, id column as a primary key in Table1 & is Foreign Key in Table2. Through find method I just get the particular sno object(existed in table 1) set some values persisted to table2 & committed the transaction. When I select the same sno object through find method & gets its collection from Table2 through the getTable2Collection() of the bean(as it is already created in bean by toplink essential) I'm unable to get the latest added record except that all other records of it are displayed. After I close the application & opening it then the new record gets reflected while calling the same sno through the above process. I came to know that this is a kind of lazy fetching and there should be some way of fetch policy to be changed to make the entity object get updated with the changes. This link has been great, but it's not helping me grasp submenus. I'm thinking they're just nested NSArrays, but I have no clear idea. • feedparser fails during script run, but can't reproduce in interactive python console

  It's failing with this when I run eclipse or when I run my script in iPython: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe2 in position 32: ordinal not in range(128) I don't know why, but when I simply execute the feedparse.parse(url) statement using the same url, there is no error thrown. This is stumping me big time. • How do I get Emacs to evaluate a file when a frame is raised?

  Basically I have my Emacs set up so it has a GUI specific elisp, but when starting it in daemon mode this doesn't evaluate. The code is something like: ;; gui.el (when window-system (progn ;; do stuff here )) I'd like this file (or at least the code within it—perhaps a funtion) to be re-evaluated when I run emacsclient -c on the command line, as I miss out on all my font-lock and color-theme goodness (as I have that stuff set to runonly when a GUI exists).

• Learning Objective-C: Need advice on populating NSMutableDictionary

  I am teaching myself Objective-C utilizing a number of resources, one of which is the Stanford iPhone Dev class available via iTunes U (past 2010 class). One of the home work assignments asked that I populate a mutable dictionary with a predefined list of keys and values (URLs). I was able to put the code together, but as I look at it, I keep thinking there is probably a much better way for me to approach what I'm trying to do: Populate a NSMutableDictionary with the predefined keys and values Enumerate through the keys of the dictionary and check each key to see if it starts with "Stanford" If it meets the criteria, log both the key and the value I would really appreciate any feedback on how I might improve on what I've put together.
