  • PHP New Line Help

    - by Jeremy Person
I'm just starting PHP programming as you can tell. I want the results of each statement to be on their own line but can't get it to work yet. I tried referring to the code on this page and am obvsiously doing something wrong. Thank you very much. <? $mySentence="This is a sentence 123456789."; $myNumber1 = 9.5; $myNumber2 = .5; $sum = $myNumber1 + $myNumber2; echo "Hello, lets display our PHP variables: \r"; echo $mySentence; echo "The sum of $myNumber 1 and $myNumber2 = $sum "; echo "\"This text has double quotes\""; ?>

  • Is generic Money<TAmount> a good implementation idea?

    - by jdk
I have a Money Type that allows math operations and is sensitive to exchange rates so it will reduce one currency to another if rate is available to calculate in a given currency, rounds by various methods. It has other features that are sensitive to money, but I need to ask if the basic data type used should be made generic in nature. I've realized that the basic data type to hold an amount may differ for financial situations, for example: retail money might be expressed as all cents using int or long where fractions of cents do not matter, decimal is commonly used for its fixed behaviour, sometimes double seems to be used for big finance and large values sometimes a special BigInteger or 3rd-party type is used. I want to know if it would be considered good form to turn Money into Money<T_amount> so it can be used in any one of the above chosen scenarios?

  • iphone - compiler conditional on header

    - by Mike
I have a project that generates applications for two targets. One of the targets has to include one additional delegate protocol that should not be present on the other one. So, I have created a macro on Xcode and declared the header like this: #ifdef TARGET_1 @interface myViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate, UIPopoverControllerDelegate> #endif #ifdef TARGET_2 @interface myViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> #endif { .... bla bla.... } The problem is that Xcode is not liking this "double" declaration of @interface and is giving me all sort of problems. How to solve that? thanks for any help.

  • C#/MonoDevelop: GTK MessageDialogs require a doubleclick to close - why?

    - by Connel
    I'm a newbie programmer writting a program in MonoDevelop in C# and have a porblem with my gtk MessageDialogs. The close button on the window boarders of my GTK Message dialogues require a double click to actually close them. The close button on the dialogue its self works fine. Could someone please tell me how I can fix this below is the code: if (fchDestination.CurrentFolder == fchTarget.CurrentFolder) { MessageDialog msdSame = new MessageDialog(this, DialogFlags.Modal, MessageType.Error, ButtonsType.Close, "Destination directory cannot be the same as the target directory"); msdSame.Title="Error"; if ((ResponseType) msdSame.Run() == ResponseType.Close) { msdSame.Destroy(); } return; } if (fchTarget.CurrentFolder.StartsWith(fchDestination.CurrentFolder)) { MessageDialog msdContains = new MessageDialog(this, DialogFlags.Modal, MessageType.Error, ButtonsType.Close, "error"); msdContains.Title="Error"; if ((ResponseType) msdContains.Run() == ResponseType.Close) { msdContains.Destroy(); } return; }

  • does XMLDOMNodePtr::get_text() needs to be deallocated explicitly?

    - by Sammy
Greetings, Would like to know if we need to explicitly free the string allocated by a xmldomnodeptr using it's get_text() i.e. IXMLDOMNodePtr pNode; /*some code*/ BSTR sValue; pNode->get_text(&sValue); /*Should I do this?*/ SysFreeString(sValue); I cannot see any documentation stating the same, so I'm assuming we need to do explicit deallocation sysfreestring. But, Just need to be double sure :) Thanks in advance. Samrat Patil.

  • SQL Injection with Plain-Vanilla NHibernate

    - by James D
Hello, Plain-vanilla NHibernate setup, eg, no fluent NHibernate, no HQL, nothing except domain objects and NHibernate mapping files. I load objects via: _lightSabers = session.CreateCriteria(typeof(LightSaber)).List<LightSaber>(); I apply raw user input directly to one property on the "LightSaber" class: myLightSaber.NameTag = "Raw malicious text from user"; I then save the LightSaber: session.SaveOrUpdate(myLightSaber); Everything I've seen says that yes, under this situation you are immune to SQL injection, because of the way NHibernate parameterizes and escapes the queries under the hood. However, I'm also a relative NHibernate beginner so I wanted to double-check. *waves hand* these aren't the droids you're looking for. Thanks!

  • Decimal Value is Zero when it should be 0.0x

    - by Mike Wills
If this was previously talked about, I'm sorry, I had a hard time searching on this. I am calculating a depreciation rate. One portion of our calculation is 1/life in months. My table stores this data in a decimal field. I tried test = 1 / estimatedLife; but the result of the calculation of test (which is defined as a decimal) is 0. Say the estimated life is 36 months. So 1/36 should equal 0.02777778. Any thoughts of what I am doing wrong? BTW, I changed the test to a double and had the same result.

  • PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "end-of-file" in simple update block

Hello, The following Oracle statement: DECLARE ID NUMBER; BEGIN UPDATE myusername.terrainMap SET playerID = :playerID,tileLayout = :tileLayout WHERE ID = :ID END; Gives me the following error: ORA-06550: line 6, column 15: PL/SQL: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended ORA-06550: line 3, column 19: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored ORA-06550: line 6, column 18: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "end-of-file" when expecting one of the following: ( begin case declare end exception exit for goto if loop mod null pragma raise return select update while with <an identifier> <a double-quoted> I am pretty much at a loss. This appears to be a rather simple statement. If it helps any, I had a similar statement that performed an INSERT which used to work, but today has been giving me the same message.

  • C++ long long manipulation

    - by Krakkos
Given 2 32bit ints iMSB and iLSB int iMSB = 12345678; // Most Significant Bits of file size in Bytes int iLSB = 87654321; // Least Significant Bits of file size in Bytes the long long form would be... // Always positive so use 31 bts long long full_size = ((long long)iMSB << 31); full_size += (long long)(iLSB); Now.. I don't need that much precision (that exact number of bytes), so, how can I convert the file size to MiBytes to 3 decimal places and convert to a string... tried this... long double file_size_megs = file_size_bytes / (1024 * 1024); char strNumber[20]; sprintf(strNumber, "%ld", file_size_megs); ... but dosen't seem to work. i.e. 1234567899878Bytes = 1177375.698MiB ??

  • Verifying the purchaser of an App Store application

    - by Keldi
Is there a way for the developer of an App Store application to tie a sale to an individual user/device ID/Apple account? In other words, a method for the developer to double-check that a specific user has legally purchased the software? I haven't been able to find a reliable answer to this yet. I'm not looking for specific code examples, just some sort of idea as to how possible (or difficult) this is. My intent isn't to penalize piracy; it's to be able to provide additional benefits to paid customers. As such, I'm not looking for a way to identify a cracked or pirated version, which I gather has already been solved. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • Android Release Version and "Waiting for Debugger"

    - by Tom Richards
I know this has been asked before but I still don't have a solution. My first app: developed and debugged on my moto droid and then followed all the release steps, (exported from Eclipse, using my key to sign) including removing the debug in the manifest xml. I copied the resulting apk to the droid, disconnected the usb and installed it by double clicking on the file using Astro. I get the "Waiting for Debugger" message like when I am debugging but it never goes away. Doing something real stupid I know but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

  • Thread not behaving correctly

    - by ivor
Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me to understand where I could be going wrong with this code; Basically I'm working on a turorial and calling the class below from another class - and it is getting the following error; Exception in thread "Thread-1" java.lang.NullPointerException at org.newdawn.spaceinvaders.TCPChat.run(TCPChat.java:322) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) I realise the error is beibg flagged in another class- but I have tested the other class with a small class which sets up a separate thread - and it works fine, but as soon as I try and implement a new thread in this class - it causes all sorts of problems. Am I setting up the thread correctly in this class? Basically I can set up a thread in this class, with a test loop and it's fine, but when I bring in the functionality of the rest of the game it sometimes hangs, or does not display at all. Any suggestions on where I could be going wrong would be greatly appreciated. • Access data returned from server

    - by Vinodh Ramasubramanian
I am looking to access the actual value returned from the server.getRowData returns the value after unformat applied to the value. This results in loss of information. For instance, if a double value is rounded to two decimal places and if I want to populate the form for edit with the original value returned from the server with 6 decimals, how can I get the value returned. for eg: Value returned from server : 12.345678 formatter option for column : formatter: 'number', formatoptions: {thousandsSeparator: ",", decimalPlaces: 2} Value displayed in grid : 12.35 How do I retrieve the value 12.345678 returned from the server. getRowData returns 12.35

  • NamedParameterJdbcTemplate jconnect decimal issue

    - by user1052849
I am using NamedParameterJdbcTemplate to insert data into a table. (Spring 2.5.3/Java 1.6) I am using jconnect driver to connect to sybase jdbc:sybase:Tds:<Server>:<Port>. For some reason the decimal values the decimal part is truncated. With the same code if I use jtds driver (jdbc:jtds:sybase://<Servername>:<Port>) its working fine. I cannot use jtds as jconn is being used by other code. In Java objects, field is defined as double. In database, field is defined as float (numeric with precision does not work). Any help is appreciated.

  • Textbox height in a small browser window

    - by Fritz H
Hi folks, I have here a peculiar problem. We have a RAP application intended for use on a PDA/phone, but when it is displayed in a small browser window, all the textboxes on the form(s) are too tall (around twice the height they should be). I've stepped through the code (The form is using GridLayout, number of columns=1, make columns equal=false) and have found that the TextSizeDetermination.getCharHeight() method returns an incorrect font size if the browser window is too small - 13px if the window is large, 26px (exactly double) if the window is too small. Interestingly enough, it seems that if the window is too small, probeStore.containsProbeResult(font) in that method returns true and uses probeStore.getProbeResult(...).getSize().y for the font size. Otherwise, if the window is larger, it returns false and uses TextSizeEstimation.getCharHeight(...). Does anyone have a pointer or two for getting around this? • PyGTK: Doubleclick on CellRenderer

    - by rami
Hello! In my PyGTK application I currently use 'editable' to make cells editable. But since my cell contents sometimes are really really large I want to ask the user for changes in a new window when he doubleclicks on a cell. But I could not find out how to hook on double-clicks on specific cellrenderers - I don't want to edit the whole row and I also don't want to set this callback for the whole row, only for columns where too long content can occur. How can I do this with CellRendererText() or something similar. My currently cell-generating code is: cols[i] = gtk.TreeViewColumn(coltitle) cells[i] = gtk.CellRendererText() cols[i].pack_start(cells[i]) cols[i].add_attribute(cells[i], 'text', i) cols[i].set_sizing(gtk.TREE_VIEW_COLUMN_FIXED) cols[i].set_fixed_width(100) cells[i].set_property('editable', True) cells[i].connect('edited', self.edited, (i, ls)) cols[i].set_resizable(True) mytreeview.append_column(cols[i]) Thanks!

  • C# - Process.Start - Pass html code to exe as argument

    - by dkirk
    Hello, I am using the code below to start a executable file from a windows service and I need to pass html code (stored in a variable) as an argument. I am escaping with double quotes but this is not working. What do I need to do in order to pass this correctly? Thanks in advance for any guidance that is offered. Inside the service: Process.Start(@"E:\Program Files\MyApp.exe", dr["rec"].ToString() + " \"" + subject + "\" \"" + htmlVar); and then within MyApp.exe: static void Main(string[] args) { Program MyProg = new Program(); MyProg.MyMeth(args[0].ToString(), args[1].ToString(), args[2].ToString()); }

  • Video Synthesis - Making waves, pattern, gradients...

    - by Nathan
I'm writing a program to generate some trippy visuals. My code paints each pixel with a random blue value which loops at 0.04 second intervals. for (y = 0; y < 5.5; y += 0.2) { for (x = 0; x < 7.5; x += 0.2) { b = rand() / ((double) RAND_MAX); setPixelColor(x,y,r,g,b); } } I'd like to do more than just make blue noise... but my maths is a bit rusty, and Google isn't helping me much today, so it would be great if you could share anything you know about making waves, patterns, gradient animations, etc or links to such material.

  • How To Test if Type is Primitive

    - by DaveDev
Hi Guys I have a block of code that serializes a type into a Html tag. Type t = typeof(T); // I pass <T> in as a paramter, where myObj is of type T tagBuilder.Attributes.Add("class", t.Name); foreach (PropertyInfo prop in t.GetProperties()) { object propValue = prop.GetValue(myObj, null); string stringValue = propValue != null ? propValue.ToString() : String.Empty; tagBuilder.Attributes.Add(prop.Name, stringValue); } This works great, except I want it to only do this for primitive types, like string, int, double, bool etc. I want it to ignore everything else. Can anyone suggest how I do this? Or do I need to specify the types I want to allow somewhere and switch on the property's type to see if it's allowed? That's a little messy, so it'd be nice if I there was a tidier way.

  • How to occupy all the space in a div when working with min-height header / footer

    - by javacoder
    I believe this is a beginner's CSS question. I am utilizing the method described in http://www.xs4all.nl/~peterned/examples/csslayout1.html to fix a header to the top and a footer to the bottom. What I'd like to achieve now is two columns inside the content div. A left one of 200px and a right one that takes up the rest of the width. Unfortunately, I can't get the left and right divs to display correctly: they just don't grow vertically, and if I make the right div "width: 100%" it positions itself underneath the left one. What is the trick to make the left and right div take up all the space within the content div? The layout1.css is the original one. I just added two entries: #left and #right layout1.css: /** * 100% height layout with header and footer * ---------------------------------------------- * Feel free to copy/use/change/improve */ html,body { margin: 0; padding: 0; height: 100%; /* needed for container min-height */ background: gray; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; color: #666; } h1 { font: 1.5em georgia, serif; margin: 0.5em 0; } h2 { font: 1.25em georgia, serif; margin: 0 0 0.5em; } h1,h2,a { color: orange; } p { line-height: 1.5; margin: 0 0 1em; } div#container { position: relative; /* needed for footer positioning*/ margin: 0 auto; /* center, not in IE5 */ width: 750px; background: #f0f0f0; height: auto !important; /* real browsers */ height: 100%; /* IE6: treaded as min-height*/ min-height: 100%; /* real browsers */ } div#header { padding: 1em; background: #ddd url("../csslayout.gif") 98% 10px no-repeat; border-bottom: 6px double gray; } div#header p { font-style: italic; font-size: 1.1em; margin: 0; } div#content { padding: 1em 1em 5em; /* bottom padding for footer */ } div#content p { text-align: justify; padding: 0 1em; } div#footer { position: absolute; width: 100%; bottom: 0; /* stick to bottom */ background: #ddd; border-top: 6px double gray; } div#footer p { padding: 1em; margin: 0; } // added the following: div#left { border: 1px solid red; width: 200px; float: left; min-height: 100%; height: 100%; padding-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px; } div#right { border: 1px solid blue; float: left; min-height: 100%; height: 100%; padding-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px; } layout.html: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>CSS Layout - 100% height</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="layout1.css" /> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="header"> <h1>header</h1> </div> <div id="content"> <div id="left"> left column </div> <div id="right"> right column </div> </div> <div id="footer"> <p> footer </p> </div> </div> </body>

  • Is there a good charting library for iPhone?

    - by Mike Akers
I have a need to render and display charts (bar charts for now, but more types may be needed later) in an iPhone app I'm working on. I've done some looking around and it doesn't look like there are any really good, mature charting libraries for iPhone yet. I've also looked for something written for Cocoa on the Mac that can be adapted, but haven't found anything great yet. Anybody dealt with this before? Any recommendations? I did find Core Plot, but it seems to be in the early stages of development. Edit to add some details of requirements (as they currently stand ;) ) Bar Charts Horizontal bar charts Double stacked bar charts Axis labels (including rotated 90 degrees on the y axis) Labels above each bar on the chart Shaded or custom backgrounds

  • Inherited properties aren't bound during databinding

    - by Josh
I have two interfaces, IAuditable and ITransaction. public interface IAuditable{ DateTime CreatedOn { get; } string CreatedBy { get; } } public interface ITransaction : IAuditable { double Amount{ get; } } And a class that implements ITransaction, call Transaction. public class Transaction : ITransaction{ public DateTime CreatedOn { get { return DateTime. Now; } } public string CreatedBy { get { return "aspnet"; } } public doubl Amount { get { return 0; } } } When I bind a list of ITransactions to a datagrid and use auto create columns, only the Amount gets bound. The CreatedBy and CreatedOn are not seen. Is there a way I can get these values visible during databinding?

  • wpf c# media player questions

    - by Sankar
I'm making a media player in wpf using c#. I had 3 questions. 1) I tried making a seeker XAML: <Slider Name="timelineSlider" Margin="40,91,26,0" ValueChanged="SeekToMediaPosition" Height="32" VerticalAlignment="Top" /> Code: private void Element_MediaOpened(object sender, EventArgs e) { timelineSlider.Maximum = ply.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan.TotalMilliseconds; } private void SeekToMediaPosition(object sender, RoutedPropertyChangedEventArgs<double> e) { int SliderValue = (int)timelineSlider.Value; TimeSpan ts = new TimeSpan(SliderValue, SliderValue, SliderValue, SliderValue, SliderValue); ply.Position = ts; } When I run the program, I open the mp3 and play it but the seeker won't move. When I click on the seeker to move it to a certain position, the song stops playing but the seeker moves. What's the problem and how do I fix it? How do I create a volume increase/decrease bar? How can I open several mp3s and queue them up like a playlist? Thank you
