• iTextSharp Use Link Inside PdfPCell

  I am able to successfully put a link in the pdf with a friendly name: Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; doc.Add(anchor); However, I cannot get get the anchor to work within a PdfPCell. Here is what I have tried so far: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Anchor(anchor)); That displays the exception: System.ArgumentException: Element not allowed. I also tried: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Phrase(anchor)); This does not throw an exception but it isn't a link it is just the word "Google". I am using the newest version of iTextSharp at this time v.(5.4.4.0) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  Hello, I am using WCF Ria Services beta in my silverlight application. I have a long running task on the server which keeps writing its status to a database table. I have a "GetTranslationProgress" Ria Service Query method which queries the state to get the status. This query method is called continuously at a regular interval of 5 seconds until a status = Finished or Error is retrieved. In some cases if the task on the server is running for a long duration 2-3 minutes then I receives this error:- Load operation failed for query 'GetTranslationProgress'. The server did not provide a meaningful reply; this might be caused by a contract mismatch, a premature session shutdown or an internal server error. at System.Windows.Ria.OperationBase.Complete(Exception error) at System.Windows.Ria.LoadOperation.Complete(Exception error) at System.Windows.Ria.DomainContext.CompleteLoad(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Windows.Ria.DomainContext.<c_DisplayClass17.b_13(Object ) The error occurs intermittently and I have no idea what could be causing this error. I have checked most of the forums and sites but I have not been able to find out any solution to this issue. Please help.

• Foreign keys in django admin list display

  If a django model contains a foreign key field, and if that field is shown in list mode, then it shows up as text, instead of displaying a link to the foreign object. Is it possible to automatically display all foreign keys as links instead of flat text? (of course it is possible to do that on a field by field basis, but is there a general method?) Example: class Author(models.Model): ... class Post(models.Model): author = models.ForeignKey(Author) Now I choose a ModelAdmin such that the author shows up in list mode: class PostAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): list_display = [..., 'author',...] Now in list mode, the author field will just use the __unicode__ method of the Author class to display the author. On the top of that I would like a link pointing to the url of the corresponding author in the admin site. Is that possible? Manual method: For the sake of completeness, I add the manual method. It would be to add a method author_link in the PostAdmin class: def author_link(self, item): return '<a href="../some/path/%d">%s</a>' % (item.id, unicode(item)) author_link.allow_tags = True That will work for that particular field but that is not what I want. I want a general method to achieve the same effect. (One of the problems is how to figure out automatically the path to an object in the django admin site.)

  We implement a plugin framework for our application and load plugin assemblies using Assembly.Loadfrom. We then use GetTypes() and further examine the types with each plugin file for supported Interfaces. A path for the plugins is provided by the user and we cycle through each of the files in the folder to see if it (the plugin) supports our plugin interface. If it does, we create an instance, if not we move onto the next file. We build two versions of software from the one code base (appA_1 and appA_2). Loading the plugins works well when the plugins are loaded by the application that was built at the same time as the plugin file. However if we build appA_2 and point to the plugin folder of appA_1, we get an exception when GetTypes() is called. A basic version of our code is; var pluginAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(FileName); foreach (var pluginType in pluginAssembly.GetTypes()) { We get a "ReflectionTypeLoadException" exception.   I have an StackOverflowException in one of my DB functions that I don't know how to deal with. I have a SQLite database with one table "tblEmployees" that holds records for each employees (several thousand posts) and usually this function runs without any problem. But sometimes after the the function is called a thousand times it breaks with an StackOverflowException at the line "ReturnTable.Load(reader)" with the message: An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in System.Data.SQLite.dll If I restart the application it has no problem to continue with the exact same post it last crashed on. I can also make the exactly same DB-call from SQLite Admin at the crash time without no problems.   Hello everyone. I have a system consisting of a server accepting remoting calls from clients with TCP as the underlying transportlayer. It normally works like a charm, but if I increase the no. of clients, the server starts at random to close the TCP connections in the middle of the calls. Not all calls are interrupted this way. That is really unexpected behaviour... • NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest: fails when using POST

  I'm using a custom NSURLCache to intercept calls for certain web pages in order to modify them dynamically. Inside cachedResponseForRequest: I modify the request, then send it out using sendSynchronousRequest. This works very well until you attempt to submit a form. If there is post data it fails. If i remove the HTTPBody and set the request to GET, it succeeds. But i need it to work with POST. If i send the request asynchronously it also works which is why i can't figure out why the synchronous request fails. • Webclient using download file to grab file from server - handling exceptions

  Hello everyone, I have a web service in which I am manipulating POST and GET methods to facilitate upload / download functionality for some files in a client/server style architecture. Basically the user is able to click a button to download a specific file, make some changes in the app, then click upload button to send it back. Problem I am having is with the download. Say the user expects 3 files 1.txt, 2.txt and 3.txt. Except 2.txt does not exist on the server. So I have code like (on server side): public class HttpHandler : IHttpHandler { public void ProcessRequest { if (context.Request.HttpMethod == "GET") { GoGetIt(context) } } private static void GoGetIt(HttpContext context) { var fileInfoOfWhereTheFileShouldBe = new FileInfo(......); if (!fileInfoOfWhereTheFileShouldBe.RefreshExists()) { throw new Exception("Oh dear the file doesn't exist"); } ... So the problem I have is that when I run the application, and I use a WebClient on client side to use DownloadFile method which then uses the code I have above, I get: WebException was unhandled: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. (While debugging) If I attach to the browser and use http://localhost:xxx/1.txt I can step through server side code and throw the exception as intended. So I guess I'm wondering how I can handle the internal server error on the client side properly so I can return something meaningful like "File doesn't exist". One thought was to use a try catch around the WebClient.DownloadFile(address, filename) method but i'm not sure thats the only error that will occur i.e. the file doesn't exist.

• Crazy idea: Connect .NET and SAP with SAP JCo using IKVM.NET

  Because the SAP Connector for .NET is no longer maintained by SAP, I am now looking for an alternative to connect the Microsoft world with the SAP world. I know there a third party products like ERPConnect, but I want to do this with tools from SAP. Therefore there arised the crazy idea to use the SAP Java Connector in combination with the tool IKVM.NET (www.ikvm.net/devguide/net2java.html). IKVM.NET provides The IKVMC tool, which converts Java bytecode to .NET dll's and exe's. "No sooner said than done!" I converted the SAP JCo to .NET dlls and created a new Visual Studio solution. I put all the JCO files into a subdirectory of my solution. I set 2 references to the generated IKVM.OpenJDK.Core.dll and sapjco.dll. Great, all JCO classes where now available as .NET classes. Full of optimism I wrote some little code to connect to a SAP system. JCO.Client client = null; client = JCO.createClient(...) The compiliation of my testcode had no errors. "Wonderful !" I thought. Then I started my tetstapplication. Unfortunately I got an exception calling JCO.createClient: Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC'\r\nno sapjcorfc in java.library.path I have 2 questions on this topic. 1) Do you think my idea using SAP Java Connector to connect .NET with SAP is a good idea or is it nonsens ? Perhaps someone had already the same idea ;-) 2) How can the above exception be solved ?

• Error using Dynamic Data Filtering: missing datasource

  I am trying to use the ASP.NET Dynamic Data Filtering project, but I'm running into a problem during the configuration. I'm following the instructions on the author's blog, and everything works like described. Then it tells me to change the datasource using the designer view. I am told to select the "GridDataSource" in the "Configure data source" wizard. This option is not there though. I get all of the classes in my project, including the DataContext that was generated by Linq. When I choose "Show only DataContext objects", the dropdown ("Choose your context object:") is completely empty. When I turn of the checkbox and choose my DataContext class, I get asked which table I want and all that. But, as the whole purpose of a Dynamic Data site is NOT to use one single table, that's not much help. So I've looked at the instructions again and copied the resulting datasource from the example: <asp:DynamicLinqDataSource ID="GridDataSource" runat="server" EnableDelete="True" EnableUpdate="True"></asp:DynamicLinqDataSource> Which is exactly what I had, without the "WhereParameters" nodes in there. Now, when I run the list page however, I get an exception about a missing datasource from the filtering component. Of course when I remove the DynamicFilterRepeater, it works again.   Hi! I have a OdbcDataReader that gets data from a database and returns a set of records. The code that executes the query looks as follows: OdbcDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { yield return reader.AsMovexProduct(); } The method returns an IEnumerable of a custom type (MovexProduct). • Silverlight: Download local files with WebClient

  The directory structure of my Silverlight project is like the following: \Bin - MainModule.xap - \Images --- Image1.png --- Image2.png - \Modules --- SubModule.xap I want to be able to run it through either a web server or through Visual Studio directly (for debugging purposes I want to bypass content downloading). In my media loading code I do something like the following: if (runningLocally) { var bitmapImage = new BitmapImage(); bitmapImage.UriSource = new Uri("Images/Image1.png", UriKind.Relative); var image = new Image(); image.Source = bitmapImage; } else { WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.OpenReadCompleted += (s, e) => { var bitmapImage = new BitmapImage(); bitmapImage.SetSource(e.Result); var image = new Image(); image.Source = bitmapImage; }; wc.OpenReadAsync(new Uri("Images/Image1.png", UriKind.Relative)); } This works for images but I also have sub-modules which are just assemblies housing UserControls. Since Silverlight has no ability to read disk I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to "download" the XAPs I need whether I'm running locally or not. Problem is if I run the project locally and try to use a WebClient to download a XAP I get an exception: System.Net.WebException: An exception occurred during a WebClient request. ---> System.NotSupportedException: The URI prefix is not recognized. Is there any way (WebClient or otherwise) I can get to my sub-module XAPs when running the Silverlight project directly rather than hitting a web server?

  Hello, I want to customize the marshalling of dates in JAXB. It's a variant of this already asked question. I would think I would use an XMLAdapter, as this answer questions specifies. But I can't do that exactly, because I'm going the other way around, generating the JAXB beans from an .XSD -- I can't add annotations to the JAXB beans because they are generated code. I've tried calling Marshaller.setAdapter(), but with no luck. final Marshaller marshaller = getJaxbContext().createMarshaller(); marshaller.setSchema(kniSchema); marshaller.setAdapter(new DateAdapter()); ... private static class DateAdapter extends XmlAdapter<String, XMLGregorianCalendar> { @Override public String marshal(XMLGregorianCalendar v) throws Exception { return "hello"; //Just a test to see if it's working } @Override public XMLGregorianCalendar unmarshal(String v) throws Exception { return null; // Don't care about this for now } } Where the relevant part of my generated JAXB bean looks like this: @XmlSchemaType(name = "date") protected XMLGregorianCalendar activeSince; When I do this, what the default date/XMLGregorianCalendar marshalling happens.
