  I am trying to install Php on Vista (IIS 7). The installation and configuration seems to be fine. Pretty much followed everything mentioned in http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2006/09/19/How-to-install-PHP-on-IIS7-_2800_RC1_2900_.aspx I can even bring up a test.php which is basically and can also connect to mysql db through code. But when I try to bring up some other php page like drupal's index page or phpmyadmin index page, it brings up a Php access violation message. Any clue whats happening? Also is there some tracing/diagnositic tool for php to trace whats happenign on the webserver.

• SQL 2008 Database tuning advisor won't start

  For some reason I can't get DTA to connect to my development machine. It connects to a remote DB just fine but when I point it to my dev machine I get an error saying: Failed to initialize MSDB database for tuning (exit code: -1073741819). I'm pretty sure it's not a permissions issue since I've used profiler to capture what it's doing and all of the commands it's run so far look fine and are being run under my account which is associated with the sysadmin role, when I run them in sql management studio they go through fine. I'm pretty convinced that the problem is related to creating the objects in MSDB that are used by DTA but I tried creating these manually (I found scripts on the web) and it just seems to push the problem along the line slightly. I'm going out of my mind - have even tried reinstalling SQL but that's not fixed it. I'm using SQL 2008 with SP1 (10.0.2531) on windows server 2008 (patched up to date). SAVE ME!!!!!

• NHibernate CreateSQLQuery data conversion from bit to boolean error

  Hi, Im being a bit lazy in NHibernate and using Session.CreateSqlQuery(...) instead of doing the whole thing with Lambda's. Anyway what struct me is that there seems to be a problem converting some of the types returned from (in this case the MySQL) DB into native .Net tyes. The query in question looks like this.... IList<Client> allocatableClients = Session.CreateSQLQuery( "select clients.id as Id, clients.name as Name, clients.customercode as CustomerCode, clients.superclient as SuperClient, clients.clienttypeid as ClientType " + ... ... .SetResultTransformer(new NHibernate.Transform.AliasToBeanResultTransformer(typeof(Client))).List<Client>(); The type in the database of SuperClient is a bit(1) and in the Client object the type is a bool. The error received is: System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'System.UInt64' cannot be converted to type 'System.Boolean'. It seems strange that this conversion cannot be completed. Would be greatful for any ideas. Thanks.

  I have 2 tables (Users and Roles) they are mapped as Many-to-Many in relational db. When I imported to Entity Data Content, they are still staying as the same relationship. Since they are mapped as Many-To-Many in Entity, I can access Users.RoleCollection or Roles.UserCollection However, when I execute this LINQ query, I got "LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'Boolean Contains... method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression." var result (from a in Users from b in Roles where a.RoleCollection.Contains(b) select a); I think I must did something wrong... please help.

  I have a Rails app implementing a game, so it's expected that a player will leave a browser open at the game page. When player Alan takes an action himself, I use AJAX requests to update the game page Alan is viewing to reflect the new state. However, when another player (Bob) takes an action, I don't have (or want) a mechanism to push the change to Alan's view. I would like Alan's page to periodically poll the Rails server to find if there have been any changes since last reload, and to reload the page (either via a whole-page GET or an AJAX call) if not. In order to play nicely with caches and proxies, I'd like to do this by issuing a periodic HTTP HEAD request, get Rails to work out the timestamp of the last change (trivially available from my DB) and respond with that in the Last-Modified header; then have the client-side act on that timestamp. How can I go about doing this?

  I know I have seen recommendations for installing SSRS 2005 and it stated that you should separate SSRS from the DB Engine that hosts the data sources for your reports, that you should not install them on the same server. Is there any documentation for SSRS 2008 that provides guidelines/best practices for installation? I am assuming that the same holds true for SSRS 2008 as it did for SSRS 2005 but have not seen it specifically stated anywhere. We have a project that will utilize SSRS 2008 and there is a difference of opinion on where to install it, on it's own dedicated server or on the same SQL Server as the report data sources. If there is a link to any documentation that could be provided it would be gratefully appreciated, all I am finding besides what is in BOL refers to 2005. Thanks in advance!

  Afternoon chaps, After my adventures with Zend-Lucene-Search, and discovering it isn't all its cracked up to be when indexing large datasets, I've turned to Solr (thanks to Bill Karwin for that :) ) I've got Solr indexing the db far far quicker now, taking just over 8 minutes to index a table of just over 1.7million rows - which I'm very pleased with.   I need to draw polygon using mouse and mark a particular area on google maps. The purpose is to mark an area on google maps and then showing hotels and attractions on that area. The user will mark the hotels on google map while creating them so the db will have their latitude and longitudes. How can I draw the polygon and fill it with a color as background to mark the area in Google Maps? I have read the API Manual “how to draw polygons?” basically you would need to mark multiple points and then combine them into a polygon. But I will need to do this using mouse drag, just like drawing a shape. Kindly help me out how to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

  When I try rake db:migrate, I get the following error: !!! The bundled mysql.rb driver has been removed from Rails 2.2. Please install the mysql gem and try again: gem install mysql. rake aborted! no such file to load -- mysql And when I try to "gem install mysql" Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing mysql: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /usr/bin/ruby extconf.rb Can't find header files for ruby. Gem files will remain installed in /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mysql-2.8.1 for inspection. $ sudo gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config has also been tried but same error. I'm on a Fedora 10. Help will be much appreciated.Cheers!

  Hello guys, I was hoping someone can shed some light on what might be occurring on my page. Okay what I currently have on my page is a simple form that collects first name, last name, city, state and email. Once submitted it will hit a PHP page that updates our DB and echo's back to the designted div with a class of .response. I am using jquery.validation and placing that dynamic function within the submitHandler like so: submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit({ target: '.response', // target element(s) to be updated with server response resetForm: true, success: function() { $('#commentform').hide(); $('.response').show(); } }); So what I am getting is a div that is not being populated with the echo from my php file in FF and in IE I am getting the message of thank you but the page is taking me to the update.php script in which I have the form action pointing to.   Hi, I'm able to do the following for all checkboxes in a set (in an action): $this->form->getWidget('some_form_field')->setAttribute('checked', 'checked'); ... but I'm unable to set specific checkboxes to ticked on the basis of data returned from the db. I'm after something like: $this->form->getWidget('some_form_field')->setAttributes(array(....)); ... where I can refer to the specific checkboxes to be ticked somehow, or pass an array to it. There's nothing in the symfony documentation on this specifically and I've had enough of trying a dozen combinations to get it work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• DTO or Domain Model Object in the View Layer?

  I know this is probably an age-old question, but what is the better practice? Using a domain model object throughout all layers of your application, and even binding values directly to them on the JSP (I'm using JSF). Or convert a domain model object into a DTO in the DAO or Service layer and send a lightweight DTO to the presentation layer. I have been told it makes no sense to use DTOs because changes to the database will result in changes to all your DTOs whereas using Model Objects everywhere will just require changes to the affected model object. However, the ease of use and the lightweight nature of DTOs seems to outweigh that. I should note that my app uses Hibernate Model Objects AND uses its own custom-created model objects (meaning not bound to any DB session, always detached). Is either of the above scenarios more beneficial to a strict Model Object pattern? Using Hibernate has been a huge PITA with regards to things like Lazy Initialization Exceptions.

  Hello, I am relatively new to python and app engine, and I just finished my first project. It consists of several *.py files (usually py file for every page on the site) and respectively temple files for each py file. In addition, I have one big PY file that has many functions that are common to a lot of pages, in I also declared the classes of db.Model (that is the datastore kinds). My question is what is the convention (if there is one) of arranging these files. If I create a model.py with the datastore classes, should it be in different package? Where should I put my template files and all of the py files that handle every page (should they be in the same directory as the one big common PY file)? I have tried to look for MVC and such implementations online but there are very few. Thanks, Joel

• TelerikProfileProvider with custom Membership Provider

  I've setup two membership providers: my custom provider and the Sitefinity provider. My custom membership provider is set as the default. I want to use Sitefinity's Profile provider for both sets of users. However, the profile provider only seems to work for the users that I pull out of the Sitefinity membership provider. After poking around with Reflector a bit, it seems that the Telerik Profile Provider assumes that the username exists in its own DB. User userByName = this.Application.GetUserByName(userName); if (userByName != null) { // magic happens here... } All the magic only happens if it was able to retrieve the user locally. Seems to violate the principles of the providers. Shouldn't I be able to arbitrarily add properties to any user regardless of the membership provider? (I've also posted this on the Sitefinity forum, but haven't got a response yet. SO has spoiled me. I've come to expect an answer in minutes, not days.)

I'm building an MFC app in Visual Studio 2008 which classifies textures and I need some sort of lightweight database to hold the characteristics (just some doubles and strings) which can be: -carried around with the app on different computers; -be able to perform queries on it from the app (searches , updates ,inserts ,etc); Currently I'm looking into SQL compact edition because it was very easy to create from Visual Studio ( I also need only one table) but I having a hard time connecting and updating the db from C++. • How to kill mysql process through C#.

  I am getting "too many connections" problem in an Asp .Net Mvc application which get fix when i manually kill process through Mysql v6.56 IDE, But on remote hosting computer where i can't kill process each time how can i fix this error. I have tried making a connection to information_schema DB's PROCESSLIST table but when connection is about to execute command there comes an error "access denied of root@loclahostto information_schema". I also have tried to grant all privileges to root@loclahost but still i am not able to fix this problem. I have been coding the same way from last two years but in this application i am getting this problem i have use close each connection in every method. Please if some one have ever got this problem or know the answer.Please help me. Thanx in advance

  Hello, I'd like to use jQuery UI autocomplete in order to load a list from my database but I don't know wich method I should use to do so. I tried to use the "Remote datasource" method [url]http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#remote[/url], but it obviously doesn't work. • wmd editor sanitizing

  hi, i am trying to find ways to sanitize the input of wmd editor Specifically, I am trying to make HTML tags only available in the <code>tags that wmd generates. Is that possible My problem is that the following code is rendered as html which is vunerable to potential xss attacks e.g. <a onmouseover="alert(1)" href="#">read this!</a> The above code renders normally both in preview mode and when saved to the db. I notice that SO doesnt seem to have this problem. The same code is just rendered as text. I notice that SO has shared their code here http://refactormycode.com/codes/333-sanitize-html Do I really have to use c# in order to sanitize wmd to do this? Any help appreciated , cheers Ke
