  • How to add a title attribute to every option of an ASP.NET DropDownList

    I'm working on an older ASP.NET project (not MVC I don't think) and one of the features they require is to view a description of an item when they hover over that item in a dropdown list. This can be simply done with HTML using the following code and making use of title text: <select> <option value="1" title="Option 1 Desc">Option 1</option> <option value="2" title="Option 2 Desc">Option 2</option> <option value="3" title="Option 3 Desc">Option 3</option> </select> Ok so how do I do this using ASP.NET DropDownList control? I have the following code: <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownListLocation" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" OnSelectedIndexChanged="DropDownListLocation_OnSelectedIndexChanged" CssClass="editorFieldServerControl" ClientIDMode="Static"></asp:DropDownList> And in the 'code behind' page: private void PopulateFacilityDropdown(List<FacilityAvailableByLocation> facilities, int? selectedID) { DropDownListFacility.DataSource = facilities; DropDownListFacility.DataTextField = "FacilityName"; DropDownListFacility.DataValueField = "FacilityID"; DropDownListFacility.DataBind(); DropDownListFacility.Items.Insert(0, new System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListItem("", "")); if (selectedID.HasValue && selectedID.Value > 0) DropDownListFacility.SelectedIndex = facilities.FindIndex(b => b.FacilityID == selectedID.Value); else DropDownListFacility.SelectedIndex = 0; } } Basically each facility in the list of facilities there has properties for an ID, Name, Description that I can get out. I just want to be able to put a title attribute on each <option> that gets rendered and put the description into it. Either that or be able to add a custom attribute like 'data-description' to each <option> tag then I can add the title into each option tag myself using a bit of jQuery which is easy enough. I miss the days where you could just loop through a list and output the custom dropdown code manually. Any ideas? Many thanks

  • Website gives and error " Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'"

    I installed VS2010 and NET 4.0 framework and created a simple project. When I uploaded to my server (where I also installed the 4.0 framework), I get this error: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework' It's coming from this section in the web.config which was auto-generated by VS2010 when I created the project: I've checked and ensure that the application pool for my website on the server is set to "4.0 Integrated". Any feedback on how to get past this error would be appreciated. Thank you!

    I have two h:selectManyCheckBox with the required attribute set to true. What I want is that the required attribute of both of the components work together. Only display the error message if and only if both of the selected items list are empty. Right now my problem is that the message displays if either one of them is empty.     OK my install failed while installing the amd proprietary driver. I keep seeing references to a Nvidia driver, but I do not have or even want anything pertaining to Nvidia.   • Problem with the keyboard layout in Emacs (ubuntu 12.04)

    I've got some problems with the keyboard layout. I have a french AZERTY keyboard. When I switch to another layout (I tested both programmer DVORAK and Greek) everything seems fine. However, in emacs, I have a more unexpected (at least for me) behavior. For example, in DVORAK, I thought to obtain: On my french Keyboard - DVORAK X - Q Alt-X - Alt-Q But I have: X - Q Alt-X - Alt-X When I press the Alt key, the layout change seems to be inactivated. I precise I didn't activated any shortcut containing the Alt key for the layout switching. Moreover, I'm not sure this behavior is restricted to Emacs, but I don't use shortcuts like Alt-... in another application. Is a such behavior normal ? And in this case, how can I use a shortcut like Alt-Q when I switch to DVORAK ?

    I have been experiencing some very strange behavior using html buttons with the onserverclick attribute. What I am trying to do is use jQuery to designate the default button on the page. By default button I mean the button that is "clicked" when a user hits enter. In testing, I would hit enter while in an input field and sometimes the intended "default" button was clicked and the server side method defined in the corresponding onserverclick attribute was hit. Other times a post back was made without hitting the server method. In Firefox 3.6 and IE 8 when only one input exists on the page, hitting enter does not trigger the onserverclick, it makes a post back without even being jQuery "clicked" or actually "clicked". You can test this by starting with two inputs and clicking "test2". This will output "server method2 was hit". Then just hit enter and the output will be "server method1 was hit. Now take away an input and run the same test. Click "test2" see the results, then hit enter and you will see that nothing will change because the "test1" method was never hit. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks p.s. Chrome worked as expected

    Hi To resolve a jQuery slideDown/Up problem, I had to change one line in the jQuery file. I changed line 5738 from this.elem.style.display = "block"; to this.elem.style.display = "inline-block"; The block attribute messed up my lists when using slideDown/Up/Toggle. slideDown changes my list from display:inline to display:block during execution, and then back to display: inline again. It would be much better if it was inline (or inline-block) all the way. Is there a way to override the value stated above from my html page, or do I have to stick with my modified jQuery file? I want to be able to both serialize and deserialize the XML between XML and C# objects, however, using the objects generated by xsd.exe, the C# serialization includes the xmlns:xsi..., xsi:... etc XML attributes on the root element of the document that gets generated. Is there anyway to disable this so that absolutely no XML attribute nodes get put out in the resulting XML ? The XML document should be elements only. Duplicate?     Does anyone know of a way to add additional attribute types to the @property keyword without modifying the compiler? Or can anyone think of another way to genericize getter/setter creation? Basically, I have a lot of cases in a recent project where it's handy for objects to lazily instantiate their array properties. This is because we have "event" objects that can have a wide variety of collections as properties. Subclassing for particular events is undesirable because many properties are shared, and it would become a usability nightmare. For example, if I had an object with an array of songs, I'd write a getter like the following: - (NSMutableArray *)songs { if (!songs) { songs = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; } return songs; } Rather than writing dozens of these getters, it would be really nice to get the behavior via... @property (nonatomic, retain, lazyGetter) NSMutableArray *songs; Maybe some fancy tricks via #defines or something? Other ideas?
