class MyString{ char buf[100]; int len; boolean append(MyString str){ int k; if(this.len + str.len>100){ for(k=0; k<str.len; k++){ this.buf[this.len] = str.buf[k]; this.len ++; } return false; } return true; } } Does the above translate to: start: push ebp ; save calling ebp mov ebp, esp ; setup new ebp push esi ; push ebx ; mov esi, [ebp + 8] ; esi = 'this' mov ebx, [ebp + 14] ; ebx = str mov ecx, 0 ; k=0 mov edx, [esi + 200] ; edx = this.len append: cmp edx + [ebx + 200], 100 jle ret_true ; if (this.len + str.len)<= 100 then ret_true cmp ecx, edx jge ret_false ; if k >= str.len then ret_false mov [esi + edx], [ebx + 2*ecx] ; this.buf[this.len] = str.buf[k] inc edx ; this.len++ aux: inc ecx ; k++ jmp append ret_true: pop ebx ; restore ebx pop esi ; restore esi pop ebp ; restore ebp ret true ret_false: pop ebx ; restore ebx pop esi ; restore esi pop ebp ; restore ebp ret false My greatest difficulty here is figuring out what to push onto the stack and the math for pointers. NOTE: I'm not allowed to use global variables and i must assume 32-bit ints, 16-bit chars and 8-bit booleans.

  • Computer graphics research

    - by Shrey
What are the best known labs for research in CG especially raytracing/rendering? I want to pursue Masters/PhD in this field and though I have been working on projects such as raytracers, it is all self-driven. What would be a good place to start, perhaps as a research intern? Also, what kind of background is expected for admissions in these programs, in terms of programming skills, formal education etc.?

  • Silverlight graphics pixel side position?

    - by Tuukka
    I try to port simple game to silverlight (SameGame). The problem is that my old source code used pixel sizes to allight game marks to board. I draw simple grid using lines and game mark (using rectangle). How i can set rentacle position correctly? Example 20 20 pixels to upper left corner). private void DrawGrid() { LayoutRoot.Children.Clear(); Rectangle r = new Rectangle(); r.Width = 20; r.Height = 20; r.Fill = new SolidColorBrush(Color.FromArgb(255, 0, 255, 0)); r.Stroke = new SolidColorBrush(Color.FromArgb(255, 0, 255, 0)); r.SetValue(Canvas.LeftProperty, (double)0); r.SetValue(Canvas.TopProperty, (double)0); LayoutRoot.Children.Add(r); Color GridColor = Color.FromArgb(0xFF, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00); for (int y = 0; y < 11; y++) { Line l = new Line(); l.X1 = 0; l.Y1 = 30 * y - 1; l.X2 = 20 * 30; l.Y2 = 30 * y - 1; l.Stroke = new SolidColorBrush(GridColor); l.StrokeThickness = 1; LayoutRoot.Children.Add(l); } for (int x = 0; x < 21; x++) { Line l = new Line(); l.X1 = 30 * x; l.Y1 = 0; l.X2 = 30 * x; l.Y2 = 10 * 30; l.Stroke = new SolidColorBrush(GridColor); l.StrokeThickness = 1; LayoutRoot.Children.Add(l); } }

  • Java Graphics on java, 2d array board game.

    - by FILIaS
I wanna fix a 2D board for a game. I've already fixed other panels for the gui and everything goes well. But the panel for the board cant be printed on the window. I'm a bit confused about it as i think i've followed the same ideas as for the others panels i need. Here's what i've done: /** *Method used to construct the square in the area of the *gui's grid. In this stage a GUISquare array is being constructed, * used in the whole game as *a mean of changing a square graphical state. *@param squares is the squares array from whom the gui grid will be *constructed. *@see getSquare about the correspondance beetween a squareModel and * a GUISquare. */ private void initBoardPanel(SquareModel[][] squares){ BoardPanel.setLayout(new GridLayout(myGame.getHeight(),myGame.getWidth())); //set layout Squares=new GUISquare[myGame.getHeight()][myGame.getWidth()]; grid=new JPanel[myGame.getHeight()][myGame.getWidth()]; for (int i=0; i< myGame.getHeight(); i++){ for (int j=0; j<myGame.getWidth() ; j++){ grid[i][j] = new JPanel( ); GUISquare kout=new GUISquare(i,j); kout.setSquare(myGame.getSquares()[i][j]); kout.draw(myGame.getSquares()[i][j].getGoTo(),myGame.getSquares()[i][j].getNumber()); /*draw method is been called. the first parameter is the number of the square that the player will be moved to if lands in this one square, the second parameter is just the number of the square */ kout.setVisible(true); grid[i][j].add(kout); grid[i][j].setVisible(true); BoardPanel.add(grid[i][j]); BoardPanel.setVisible(true); BoardPanel.setBackground(Color.WHITE); GUISquare temp=this.getSquare(squares[i][i]); Squares[i][j]= temp; } } this.add(BoardPanel,BorderLayout.WEST); // this.pack(); //sets appropriate size for frame this.setVisible(true); //makes frame visible } /** * Transformer for Rand/Move * <br>This method is used to display a square on the screen. */ public void draw(int goTo ,int number) { JPanel panel = new JPanel(); JLabel label1 = new JLabel(""+"Move To"+goTo); JLabel label2 = new JLabel(""+number); JSeparator CellSeparator = new JSeparator(orientation); panel.add(CellSeparator); panel.setLayout(new BorderLayout()); panel.add(label1, BorderLayout.CENTER); panel.add(label2, BorderLayout.LINE_START); } I've posted only one draw method...but all versions are alike.

  • Computer graphics: programatically create duotone (or separations)

    - by TarGz
There are special kind of images called "duotone" which have just two channels. It is mostly used when you want to achive higher quality reproduction - have a printing press with two colors (black , gray). My question is, I have normal gray-scale image, how to convert it to duotone? I know I can tweak the curves in Photoshop - this is not what I'm asking, rather than how to do it programmatically? Perhaps there is a library which can do just that? What about "dot gain compensation"? "Total ink coverage"?

  • question about working with System.Drawing.Graphics

    - by backdoor
hi all. i have a System.Drawing.Point[] filled with some System.Drawing.Point's. so when i want to draw this points as a polygon in a System.Windows.Form instance , the final drawn polygon is not all in the screen or sometimes is very small (in screen shown as 2-3 pixel). i wonder if there is some Library that using that i can just send Point[] to that and thatself scales and ... points and draws polygon manner that all points shown in screen and they are scaled to fit the screen (i mean small objects that shown as 2-3 pixel scale up to fit entire screen); thaks all and sorry for my bad english...

  • Clear Graphics Object to Black or other RGB

    - by Jimmy
I am a rank beginner in C#. I am currently using this code: objGraphics.Clear(SystemColors.Control); What I want to do is Clear this object to black (or some other RGB color), and I'm stumped as to how to replace the SystemColors.Control with, preferably, an RGB color spec. I'd probably want to clear to black most of the time. Any help will be much appreciated!

  • How to convert from one co-ordinate system to another (graphics)

    - by Dororo
I've been having issues with this for a little while now. I feel like I should know this but I can't for the life of me remember. How can I map the screen pixels to their respective 'graphical' x,y positions? The co-ordinate systems have been configured to start at the bottom left (0,0) and increase to the top-right. I want to be able to zoom, so I know that I need to configure the zoom distance into the answer. Screen |\ Some Quad | \--------|\Qx | \ Z | \ | \ \|Qy \ | Sx\ |Sy \| I want to know which pixels on my screen will have the quad on it. Obviously as Z decreases, the quad will occupy more of the screen, and as Z increases it will occupy less, but how exactly are these calculated? Thanks for any help.

  • How do I take some RAM and use it towards Dedicated video memory for my Nvidia graphics card?

    - by Noah Rainey
I have a Nividia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 graphics card (so it's quite old), it only gets 64MB of dedicated memory by default. I went into the bios and see if I can increase it, but it wouldn't let me. However, from the Nividia control panel I see I have up to 1071MB of total available graphics memory. I'm not sure what that means and I'm not sure how I can harness this memory and use some RAM for my graphics card. Can someone explain if this is possible and if so, how?

  • Low end dedicated GPU vs. integrated Intel graphics (for light CAD work)

    - by PaulJ
I have been asked to spec a PC for an interior design business. They are going to do some AutoCAD work (but they won't be using massive datasets or anything), and also use Kitchen Draw, a program that has 3D visualization features and says, in its requirements, that "a recent NVidia or ATI card might be enough". Since they are very limited budget-wise, I had originally picked a GeForce GT 610 card, but this card is so low end that I'm left wondering whether it will be an improvement at all over the dedicated Intel HD2500 graphics chip that comes with the CPU (I will be using an Ivy-Bridge Intel i5). Most of the information I see around is for gaming, which isn't really relevant in my case. Basically, for the use case I've described (light 3D work), can one get away with a current Intel HD graphics chipset? And will a low end GPU like the GT 610 provide a noticeable improvement?

  • Google I/O 2011: 3D Graphics on Android: Lessons learned from Google Body

Google I/O 2011: 3D Graphics on Android: Lessons learned from Google Body Nico Weber Google originally built Google Body, a 3D application that renders the human body in incredible detail, for WebGL-capable browsers running on high-end bPCs. To bring the app to Android at a high resolution and frame rate, Nico Weber and Won Chun had a close encounter with Android's graphics stack. In this session Nico will present their findings as best practices for high-end 3D graphics using OpenGL ES 2.0 on Android. The covered topics range from getting accelerated pixels on the screen to fast resource loading, performance guidelines, texture compression, mipmapping, recommended vertex attribute formats, and shader handling. The talk also touches on related topics such as SDK vs NDK, picking, and resource loading. From: GoogleDevelopers Views: 6077 29 ratings Time: 56:09 More in Science & Technology

  • Building small Ubuntu server - What hardware is recommended?

    - by 10robinho
There are many of us who need to build small Ubuntu server. Problem is that in some countries it is hard to find and quite expensive to buy server motherboards and processors. And when one is building small server with limited budget, buying some Xenons is not really an option. So, are there any general recommendations for hardware (I think that motherboards are the main issue) that is stable and fast under Linux? I read that Intel should be the best choice for cpu + mbo combo. So, I was looking around for some Intel motherboards + i7 Ivy Bridge (like Intel DZ77BH-55K with Z77 chipset and Intel i7 3770K) but I've read that they have some issues with kernel, booting and USB ports. That is why I ask community if you have any experience with this. Maybe Intel is not the best choice here? Maybe ASUS or Gigabyte or _other company_ are more stable with Linux? I hope that this Q&As can help people in building stable Ubuntu server.

  • Vector Graphics in DirectX

    - by Doug
I'm curious as to people's thoughts on the best way to use vector graphics in a directX game instead of rasterized textures(think Super Meat Boy). I want to remain resolution independent and don't want to downscale/upscale rasterized graphics. Also the idea would be for all assets to be vector graphics(again think Super Meat Boy). I've looked at Valve's paper "Improved Alpha-Tested Magnification for Vector Textures and Special Effects" and also looked at using shaders http://http.developer.nvidia.com/GPUGems3/gpugems3_ch25.html. Wondering if anyone has done something similar or an alternate approach. Cheers

  • How Did we get from CLI to Graphics?

    - by Nathaniel Bennett
I'm confused when looking into graphics - specifically with operating systems. I mean, how can a computer render a CLI/console along with a GUI. GUI's are completely different from Text. and How Can we have GUI windows that Display Text interfaces, ie how can we have CLI in modern Graphics Operating system - that's what I'm mainly trying to grip on to. How Do Graphic's get rendered to display? is there some sort of memory address that a GPU access which holds all pixel data, and there system's within OS's that Gather the pixel position of Windows and Widgets, along with the Z Index and rasterize them to that memory address, which then the GPU loads to the screen? How About the CLI's integrated with Graphics? how does the OS Tell the GPU that a certain part of the screen wants to display text while the rest, whats to display pixel data? it's all very confusing. Shed some light in it, will ya?

  • Why do webpages take longer to loo in ubuntu 12.04 than Windows 7

    - by Emil Abraham
For example, when I click on a Facebook picture, the picture remains pixelated for about 30 seconds, then starts to clear up. Or when I watch YouTube videos, I can't watch them on HD without running into buffer issues. Windows 7 is just much snappier. It might be an issue with the graphics card. • Will Apple abandon OpenCL?

    - by John
I am developing OpenCL applications, amongst others for MacOS. The new Macbook pro 13 inch comes with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card so it seams reasonable to assume all their mainstream computers like Macbook and Mac mini will also come out with this Intel graphics card soon. OpenCL is not available for Intel graphics cards. Intel having a terrible reputation in developing graphics drivers and Apple knowing this makes me wonder Apple is abandoning OpenCL already again. Especially considering OpenCL should run anywhere, not only on high end systems. Developing applications only for the high end Macs with dedicated graphics hardware or for previous generation hardware with the Geforce 320M would not be a feasible option for me. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?
