  • Eclipse bug? Switching on a null with only default case

    I was experimenting with enum, and I found that the following compiles and runs fine on Eclipse (Build id: 20090920-1017, not sure exact compiler version): public class SwitchingOnAnull { enum X { ,; } public static void main(String[] args) { X x = null; switch(x) { default: System.out.println("Hello world!"); } } } When compiled and run with Eclipse, this prints "Hello world!" and exits normally. With the javac compiler, this throws a NullPointerException as expected. So is there a bug in Eclipse Java compiler?

  • Switch role after connecting to database

    Is it possible to change the postgresql role a user is using when interacting with postgres after the initial connection? The database(s) will be used in a web application and I'd like to employ database level rules on tables and schemas with connection pooling. From reading the postgresql documentation it appears I can switch roles if I originally connect as a user with the superuser role, but I would prefer to initially connect as a user with minimal permissions and switch as necessary. Having to specify the user's password when switching would be fine (in fact I'd prefer it). What am I missing?

  • Reflection alternative for switch on enum in order to select namespace/class

    Hi, I have an interface named IHarvester. There are 3 implementations of that interface, each under their own namespace: Google Yahoo Bing A HarvesterManager uses the given harvester. It knows the interface and all 3 implementations. I want some way of letting the class user say in which harvester it wants to use. And in the code select that implementation, without a switch-case implementation. Can reflection save my day?     When MATLAB scans through cases in a switch/case block, does it remember the values that it skips, and is it possible to access that list? I have a few functions with long switch\case block and I would like to have them return a list of valid case values if they make it down to otherwise. For instance, I have a function that returns a set of optical constants for a material. It currently has about 20 different materials and it is growing as I consider new ones. I realize I can brute-force it and just re-type all of the valid cases into a cell array under otherwise and have the function throw an error and return the list of valid responses, but maintaining both lists without errors or laziness creeping in over time is challenging.

I understand why, but I don't know how to fix it. I want the program to repeat itself each time even after the case statements. Would I just say: main(argc, argv); before every break statement?

  • Finding part of a string that a user has sent via POST

    My users can send links from popular file hosts like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Hotfile and FileFactory. I need to somehow find out what filehost they sent the link from and use the correct class for it appropriately. For example, if I sent a Rapidshare link in a form on my web page, I need to somehow cycle through each file host that I allow until I find the text rapidshare.com, then I know the user has posted a Rapidshare link.     I have a grid of a variable number of elements. Say 5 images per row and a variable number of images. I need to determine which column (for lack of a better word) each image is in... i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. In this grid, images 1, 6, 12 and 17 would be in column 1 while 4, 9 and 15 would be in column 4. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 What I am trying to do is apply a background image to each element based on it's column position.     On my laptop I had Windows 8 Pro KMS activated, then I intalled WMC, which changed it to RETAIL channel, so I don't need KMS I repeated this on my desktop, which was VOLUME_KMSCLIENT and I thought it would convert it to RETAIL, but now it's just Windows 8 Pro WMC KMS. slmgr -dli partial p.key doesn't match that one I entered I can't update to 8.1 (through win store) when I have VOLUME_KMSCLIENT channel. How do I change it? edit: wmc key that I used is blocked

  • DD-WRT Router acting as a Switch and Wi-Fi AP

    Recently I upgraded to Comcast Business and their modem has a built-in router so I took off my DD-WRT router and moved to a location in my home where I needed more ports and Wi-Fi (preferably without running new Ethernet cables since it's 50-100 foot run through floor and ceilings). I have my network cable from my Comcast modem going into Port 1 of my DD-WRT router with Port 2 and 3 being networked PCs. I have DD-WRT setup as a DHCP forwarder with the firewall disabled. This lets my all of my devices access the network fine. Is the correct the way to do this? Or is this a less optimal solution and it should be done in a slightly different way?

  • Multiple vlan issue with procurve switch

    I have a cisco asa5505 as my rtr/fw(10.1.3.254). I have vlan 1 and vlan 3. Vlan 1 is my default all access vlan. Vlan 3 is my Guest(dmz) vlan. I can't seem to get a dhcp ip address when my laptop is plugged into port 42 on my procurve. I have plugged my laptop directly into the firewall and it gets a dhcp ip fine(the firewall is dhcp server). the firewall is plugged into port 41. Only vlan3 needs to go over port 41. I'm sure I have a bonehead config problem however I'm about ready to pull out what little hair I have left. vlan 1 name "Computers" forbid 45 untagged 1-41,43-44 ip helper-address 10.1.1.16 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 tagged 46-48 no untagged 42,45 exit vlan 3 name "Guest Wireless" ip helper-address 10.1.3.254 ip address 10.1.3.1 255.255.255.0 tagged 41-42,44-48 exit

    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 box running IIS7.5 with Medium Trust configured for ASP.NET. When I have the website running from local content (e.g.: c:\inetpub\wwwroot) everything works fine. When I change IIS to use a UNC path for the content (e.g.: \\computer\wwwroot) I get the following error: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. I'm trying to figure out why ASP.NET/IIS would allow for the SQL call when using local content but not when using a UNC path. Any ideas what I need to do to use a UNC path from IIS7 properly?

    I am using mailmerge to write the same letter with minor differenes to many peolpe. I experienced that switching text paragraphs depending on database values was not easy for me. I ended up putting huge text paragraphs into the database becaus switching did not really work for me. Actually I dont' understand how writer does it and maybe the boolean evaluation is buggy? There is some possibility making paragraphs invisible depending on database fields, but it was frustrating. After marking a paragraph as invisible (depending on a condition) it went invisible in the main document and did not come back, I lost the content. An example in pseudocode of what I want in my mailmerge document: {if [[balance]] 10} We owe you money. Please can you send your bank details. {end if} {if [[balance]] < -10} Please transfer the remaining amount to our banc account 123... {end if} Maybe this could be done with makros? But how to combine makros with mailmerge? Can you tell me what are the pitfalls and how to master them? I once did this with ms word, it was a lot easier. The normal mailmerge (including database fields in the letters) works fine for me in OpenOffice writer.

  • Computer does not switch on after power outage

    VOLTAGE DROP OFF FOR PC does not restart The other day my pc was turned off due to power outage. Since that time the computer would not turn on again, no sign of life, it seems dead. I did several tests, changed the power outlet and disconnect the wires ... also I have reseated the cards ... but the result is that nothing changes. What can I do? Could there may be damage to the hardware due to the power outage? Note: the voltage drop is not due to a lightning storm and so is not due to damaged components (burnt card etc ...)     I'm looking for a good workaround to do this on Windows 7 and Windows XP: Disable or make ineffective the network interface (ETH, WIFI, any NIC). If the user connect his ETH cable, the network interface enable again. Important Notes to take care: I'm working with wmic on Win7 (through the command line) I'm working with devcon on WinXP (through the command line) I'm specifically working with the .NET Framework 2.0 on C# but this is just for informational purposes. I know that an event won't help me to detect it (if there is a way or workaround to do this I don't know it). The real problem is that when I disable the NIC, I can't know if the user connects his cable or has a wired network. This is why I am looking for a workaround. I'll treat suggestions as answers if no direct answer exists. I'll provide any extra detail necessary.

  • Configuring vlans on Cisco SG200 series switch with Ubuntu server

    I created a vlan on Ubuntu with vconfig tool with 21 as id and eth1 as the host port. I connected eth1 to one of the ports on the swtich (GE23) as all ports trunk by default. In the webgui I created a vlan named test with the id 21 and I made GE2 are port as an access port. In port to vlan mapping I selected vlan 21 and added it port GE2 by selecting untagged option. I have assigned 192.168.1.1/24 as the ip of eth1.21 on Ubuntu. If I connect another cleint pc to GE2 port with a ip of 192.168.1.2/24 I cannot ping the server ip (192.168.1.1/24). Ping from server to client also does not work. I inspected packets that are sent out eth1 on the server and I could see the vlan 21 tag. And I connect the other end of the cable to a different Linux pc and inspected the packets but no vlan tags can be seen. What could be preventing me from getting vlans working? Edit 1 screenshots:

  • Switch Windows 8 from a hybrid MBR/GPT => GPT only on Macbook Pro Retina

    I used DiskUtility+Bootcamp Wizard to setup my hard drive for Windows 8 (final MSDN). Somewhere in that process, the Apple tools turned my GPT disk into a hybrid MBR/GPT. All my 4 primary MBR partitions are used up, so when I try turning on Bitlocker in Windows 8, it complains about not finding a System drive. I know on Windows 8 the Bitlocker setup tries to create the 200(?)MB system partition if it's missing. However with all 4 partitions filled I suspect it can't create system drive = it can't find it = throws back an error like "BitLocker Setup could not find a target system drive. You may need to manually prepare your drive for BitLocker". I've already tried disabling hibernation, swap file etc. Now I'm thinking that if I were to get rid of the MBR scheme altogether, perhaps I can be alright within the GPT world without MBR's 4 primary partitions limit. So, how can I get rid of the MBR tables on the hybrid scheme in a manner that still leaves Mac OS and Windows 8 in working conditions? Details: Hardware is the MacbookPro Retina.     I have Windows 7 RTM, Office 2007 SP1, and a computer with English and Hebrew languages installed. In most programs (e.g. notepad), left ALT-SHIFT switches from Hebrew to English and vice versa. In word, it also usually works, but sometimes pressing left ALT-SHIFT just won't do anything. Is this a bug in Windows ? Word?

  • windows 7 second monitor switch off after UAC prompt

    I have a laptop with a second monitor connected in extended mode. Every time a UAC prompt comes up, both monitors dim, then about 1 or 2 seconds after the prompt goes away, the extended configuration disappears, leaving me with only the laptop monitor on. I can re-enable the extended monitor manually, but this is a pain. Any ideas?
