    Hi there, compiling mod_spnego (http://sourceforge.net/projects/modgssapache/) for Windows seems to be relatively easy compared to mod_auth_kerb. But still, I don't seem to make it.     I used to love Bugmenot...but then they started blocking more and more sites. Now I'd say a good 75% of the time I try to find logins on bugmenot, the site is blocked. Is there a service like bugmenot that doesn't block sites? EDIT: For example, all of these sites require registration to download files, and all of them are blocked from BugMeNot. To be clear, this problem is because BugMeNot stops users from adding logins for them, not because of the individual sites themselves: dcemu.co.uk, ubuntuforums.org, club.cdfreaks.com

  • Ethernet switch capacity question

    We're looking at hooking up 48 small embedded systems with 10/100 Ethernet ports to an Ethernet switch and then have that switch talk to a server upstream via a faster connection. I have a couple of questions about that scenario: What kind of upstream connection is best (fiber, other?) Would it be reasonable to download 1GB/hour from each of the 48 systems concurrently?     I tried to install the just released update of windows 8.1, but after several reboot it said it couldn't install it with the error : windows 8.1 couldn't be installed with error 0xc1900101 0x20006 I don't have truecrypt or bitlocker, just a dual boot with MacOSx86 (hackintosh) and chimera bootloader, I am not sure if it has anything to do with the error.     Microsoft Vista came with a free collaboration tool called Windows Meeting Space, which is not included in Windows 7 Enterprise nor can I find a stand alone link to download. Is there a similar tool included in Windows 7 that I'm missing or a replacement Microsoft product (perhaps Microsoft SharedView) that you would recommend? Ideally a tool that is compatabile with our existing Vista Windows Meeting Space users.

  • Downloading image from Picasa Web Albums loses metadata

    I have several photos on my Picasa Web Albums account. I have added captions, tags and location information to many of them through the PWA web interface. I assumed that PWA was saving this information in an IPTC, or some other metadata tag inside the image, but whenever I go to 'Download Photo' (on a single image), the resulting image, when saved to my computer, has no tags whatsoever. Does anybody know why this is the case? Does PWA require Picasa to be installed to preserve this information?

  • Easiest linux distro creation

    Hello everyone! I have been trying to create my own customized distro of linux (preferably some kind of Debian system like Debian, Ubuntu, Knoppix, etc). I want to make it specifically for playing games. This is just a pet project for me and while I know linux pretty well (bash, gcc, g++, gdb, etc), I'm not that great with knowing the kernel. So that puts making my own distro from scratch out of the question. I went on to trying to create remasters of Knoppix and it worked for me but it was a very long process since knoppix is meant to be a live CD and I was running it in VirtualBox. So what is the easiest and fastest method of making your own distro? Also, can I install ubuntu or some kind of linux to a computer make changes to it, and then make a distro off of that installation? Please help me with this, Thanks

I've also tried to download the updates and open with the Windows Update Standalone Installer but it comes up with a message which states "The update is not applicable to your computer".

On Ubuntu Linux, this works perfectly fine, I don't need to install any drivers; however, on the Windows equivalent - Windows XP in my case, I don't seem to have any drivers for it.   • Win7 glass-like Aero feature - unable to enable

    I have a 4 months old PC with Win7 Home Premium x64. Windows Experience Index is 5.4. Intel i5 processor 6GB memory nVidia GT220 video card. During games, Windows reported shortage of system resources, so switched the desktop back to "Windows 7 Basic" desktop theme. After game-over, I could switch back to the normal theme and enjoy all Aero eye-candies. However, lately the glass-like window transparency feature got disabled, and I found no ways to enable it again. There is a Troubleshouting option in Control Panel saying: "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects". If I launch that, it does not find anything. Event viewer is full with the following warnings: The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention. Scenario : The Desktop Window Manager responsiveness has degraded. Taskbar, window borders, etc, none of the other transparent features work, and I cannot turn them on. Any thoughts?

    I've enabled automatic updates but windows cannot update itself automatically, nor updating via Internet Explorer (by visiting http://www.windowsupdate.com/) works. I get this error message in event log: Unable to Connect: Windows is unable to connect to the automatic updates service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection. What could be wrong? A malware?

    I am going to build a full height server machine to be used for SQL Server 2008 64bit. I have $400 to spend for a CPU. Which CPU should I get among i5, i7, Xeon and Phenom in terms of performance. There are so many options and I am out of touch with the latest stuff. All I know I want something fast and works with DDR3 fast memory and works with some kind of fast system bus. I don't care about overclocking, 3D & gfx benchmarks. The machine is not used for games and gfx apps. Any recommendations?

  • Why would the Default Gateway constantly require resetting?

    I've had a (mostly) steady internet connection for the past two months. For the last hour, however, my connectivity has been dropping every 10 minutes or so, and must be reset. So far, I've always been able to fix the issue by running Windows network diagnostics (On Windows 7 64 bit), but the lack of constant internet is making it a pain to try and stream video, download games through steam, etc. Windows always reports a fix by "Resetting the Local Area Connector", telling me: Default Gateway Not Available. What's going on? Is the trouble on my end, or with my ISP? (Timewarner Cable) Things I've Tried: Reinstalling the motherboard's LAN drivers Manually setting a default gateway (gets cleared, reverts to default settings) Unplugged (Hard Reset) the router Unplugged / replugged ethernet cable.
