    Hi there Having real problems moving my app over to windows authentication. the sql error messages are to do with problems creating in the aspnetdb.mdf file.   • iPhone SDK / Objective C Syntax Question

    To all, I was looking at the sample project from http://iphoneonrails.com/ and I saw they took the NSObject class and added methods to it for the SOAP calls. Their sample project can be downloaded from here http://iphoneonrails.com/downloads/objective_resource-1.01.zip. My question is related to my lack of knowledge on the following syntax as I haven't seen it yet in a iPhone project. There is a header file called NSObject+ObjectiveResource.h where they declare and change NSObject to have extra methods for this project. Is the "+ObjectiveResource.h" in the name there a special syntax or is that just the naming convention of the developers. What is that telling Xcode and the compiler about what is happening..? After that things look normal to me as they have various static and instance methods. I know that by doing this all user classes that inherit from NSObject now have all the extra methods for this project. My question is what is the parenthesis are doing after the NSObject. Is that referencing a header file, or is that letting the compiler know that this class is being over ridden. Thanks again and my apologies ahead of time if this is a dumb question but just trying to learn what I lack.

  • asp.net content page has problem with CascadingDropDown.

    I have asp.net content page with an update panel, asp.net controls with ajax extenders and it has asp.net button with event click. everything is working ok exept one case. I have 3 DropDownList with CascadingDropDown extenders. when I click the button without selecting anything from DropDownLists then click on the button the event click will work OK but if I select anything my page will respond when I click on the button.   • Is possible to make mt.exe embed manifest files correctly in Visual Studio 2008?

    I found that mt.exe fails to correctly create and embed manifest files into executables when run inside a VCPROJ. For example the same executable load well on Windows 7 but failed to load on Windows XP. The manifest was embedded and correct. After I spend lots of hours searching for possible reasons and solution I modified the project settings to generate the manifest outside the exe file. Now it works on both systems.   • Encode audio to aac with libavcodec

    I'm using libavcodec (latest git as of 3/3/10) to encode raw pcm to aac (libfaac support enabled). I do this by calling avcodec_encode_audio repeatedly with codec_context-frame_size samples each time. The first four calls return successfully, but the fifth call never returns. When I use gdb to break, the stack is corrupt. If I use audacity to export the pcm data to a .wav file, then I can use command-line ffmpeg to convert to aac without any issues, so I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong. I've written a small test program that duplicates my problem.   • GKTank example is not working.

    Hello, I'm trying to get the GKTank example working with 2 iPhones. Both have bluetooth enabled. I start the app on both devices and tap the screen. The Peer Picker comes up and the devices find each other. If I select one device in the list it says "Waiting for {other iPhone}..." forever. On the {other iPhone} the waiting phone gets grayed out. If I select the device to connect to from both devices at the same time both go into waiting state forever...   • Pyramind of DIVs

    Hi there, I'm trying to build a pyramid that's made of 4 DIVs. The layout looks like this: ------ | #1 | ------ ---------------- | #2 | #3 | #4 | ---------------- Moreover I need 3 additional DIVs starting at the center DIV (#3) and containing either #1, #2 or #3 additionally. These DIVs are used the build a sliding effect with jQueryUI later on. It's supposed to look like #1, #2 and #4 slide out of #3. The margin between the DIVs is supposed to be 2 pixels. I also want the whole block to be centered. Even with display: inline; and position: absolute; enabled on the visible and invisible DIVs I can't get the layout right. I used some negative margins and when it looked ok for the first time I saw that my top DIV was positioned outside of the html body. I suppose there is a more simple and elegant way to achieve what I want.     Hello I want to run some tests from HPCC, STREAM and GUPS. They will test memory bandwidth, latency, and throughput (in term of random accesses). Can I start Single CPU test STREAM or Single CPU GUPS on NUMA node with memory interleaving enabled? (Is it allowed by the rules of HPCC - High Performance Computing Challenge?)     Hi, I have a main wpf window and one of its controls is a user control that I have created. this user control is an analog clock and contains a thread that update hour, minute and second hands. Initially it wasn't a thread, it was a timer event that updated the hour, minutes and seconds but I have changed it to a thread because the application do some hard work when the user press a start button and then the clock don't update so I changed it to a thread.   • Overriding Object.Equals() instance method in C#; now Code Analysis / FxCop warning CA2218: "should

    I've got a complex class in my C# project on which I want to be able to do equality tests. It is not a trivial class; it contains a variety of scalar properties as well as references to other objects and collections (e.g. IDictionary). For what it's worth, my class is sealed. To enable a performance optimization elsewhere in my system (an optimization that avoids a costly network round-trip), I need to be able to compare instances of these objects to each other for equality – other than the built-in reference equality – and so I'm overriding the Object.Equals() instance method. However, now that I've done that, Visual Studio 2008's Code Analysis a.k.a. FxCop, which I keep enabled by default, is raising the following warning: warning : CA2218 : Microsoft.Usage : Since 'MySuperDuperClass' redefines Equals, it should also redefine GetHashCode. I think I understand the rationale for this warning: If I am going to be using such objects as the key in a collection, the hash code is important. i.e. see this question. However, I am not going to be using these objects as the key in a collection. Ever. Feeling justified to suppress the warning, I looked up code CA2218 in the MSDN documentation to get the full name of the warning so I could apply a SuppressMessage attribute to my class as follows: [SuppressMessage("Microsoft.Naming", "CA2218:OverrideGetHashCodeOnOverridingEquals", Justification="This class is not to be used as key in a hashtable.")] However, while reading further, I noticed the following: How to Fix Violations To fix a violation of this rule, provide an implementation of GetHashCode. For a pair of objects of the same type, you must ensure that the implementation returns the same value if your implementation of Equals returns true for the pair. When to Suppress Warnings ----- Do not suppress a warning from this rule. [arrow & emphasis mine] So, I'd like to know: Why shouldn't I suppress this warning as I was planning to? Doesn't my case warrant suppression? I don't want to code up an implementation of GetHashCode() for this object that will never get called, since my object will never be the key in a collection. If I wanted to be pedantic, instead of suppressing, would it be more reasonable for me to override GetHashCode() with an implementation that throws a NotImplementedException? Update: I just looked this subject up again in Bill Wagner's good book Effective C#, and he states in "Item 10: Understand the Pitfalls of GetHashCode()": If you're defining a type that won't ever be used as the key in a container, this won't matter. Types that represent window controls, web page controls, or database connections are unlikely to be used as keys in a collection. In those cases, do nothing. All reference types will have a hash code that is correct, even if it is very inefficient. [...] In most types that you create, the best approach is to avoid the existence of GetHashCode() entirely. ... that's where I originally got this idea that I need not be concerned about GetHashCode() always.

  • Issue with SPI (Serial Port Comm), stuck on ioctl()

    I'm trying to access a SPI sensor using the SPIDEV driver but my code gets stuck on IOCTL. I'm running embedded Linux on the SAM9X5EK (mounting AT91SAM9G25). The device is connected to SPI0. SPI_MODE_3 I checked the datasheet for it. I get no error while booting and devices appear correctly as /dev/spidevX.X. I manage to open the file and obtain a valid file descriptor. I did this way because, in order to read a register on the sensor, I need to send a byte with its address in it and then get the answer back without changing CS (however, when I tried using write() and read() functions, while learning, I got the same result, stuck on them). I'm aware that specifying .speed_hz causes a ENOPROTOOPT error on Atmel (I checked spidev.c) so I commented that part. Why does it get stuck? I though it can be as the device is created but it actually doesn't "feel" any hardware. As I wasn't sure if hardware SPI0 corresponded to bus_num 0 or 1, I tried both, but still no success (btw, which one is it?). UPDATE: I managed to have the SPI working! Half of it.. MOSI is transmitting the right data, but CLK doesn't start... any idea?

  • WinMo > ASMX WebException - how to get details?

    Okay, we've got an application which consists of a website hosting several ASMX webservices, and a handheld application running on WinMo 6.1 which calls the webservices. Been developing in the office, everything works perfect. Now we've gone to install it at the client's and we got all the servers set up and the handhelds installed. However the handhelds are now no longer able to connect to the webservice. I added in extra code in my error handler to specifically trap WebException exceptions and handle them differently in the logging to put out extra information (.Status and .Response). I am getting out the status, which is returning a [7], or ProtocolError. However when I try to read out the ResponseStream (using WebException.Response.GetResponseStream), it is returning a stream with CanRead set to False, and I thus am unable to get any further details of what is going wrong. So I guess there are two things I am asking for help with... a) Any help with trying to get more information out of the WebException? b) What could be causing a ProtocolError exception? Things get extra complicated by the fact that the client has a full-blown log-in-enabled proxy setup going on-site. This was stopping all access to the website initially, even from a browser. So we entered in the login details in the network connection for HTTP on the WinMo device. Now it can get to websites fine. In fact, I can even pull up the webservice fine and call the methods from the browser (PocketIE). So I know the device is able to see the webservices okay via HTTP. But when trying to call them from the .NET app, it throws ProtocolError [7]. Here is my code which is logging the exception and failing to read out the Response from the WebException.   • MSBuild condition across projects

    I have tried several solutions for this problem. Enough to know I do not know enough about MSBuild to do this elegantly but I feel like there should be a method. I have a set of libraries for working with .net projects. A few of the projects utilize System.Web.Mvc - which recently released Version 2 - and we are looking forward to the upgrade. Currently sites which reference this library reference it directly by the project(csproj) on the developer's computer - not a built version of the library so that changes and source code case easily be viewed when dealing code from this library. This works quite well and would prefer to not have to switch to binary references (but will if this is the only solution). The problem I have is that because of some of the functionality that was added onto the MVC1 based library (view engines, model binders etc) several of the sites reliant on these libraries need to stay on MVC1 until we have full evaluated and tested them on MVC2. I would prefer to not have to fork or have two copies on each dev machine.     I have a WCF service and a Windows client. They communicate via a Duplex WCF channel which when I run from within a single network domain runs fine, but when I put the server on a separate network domain I get the following message in the WCF server trace... The message with to 'net.tcp://abc:8731/ActiveAreaService/mex/mex' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to an AddressFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. Check that the sender and receiver's EndpointAddresses agree. So, it looks like the communication just work in one direction (from client to server) if the components are in two separate domains. The Network domains are fully trusted, so I'm a little confused as to what else could cause this? When I publish the web service application to inetpub\wwwroot (Windows 7, IIS7) it does not delete the old files in the Download directory. The app works perfect when I publish to IIS from a physical directory not in wwwroot. Obviously, it seems IIS places some sort of lock on files in the web root. I have tested impersonating an admin user to run the app and it still does not work. Any tips on how to circumvent the lock programmatically when in wwwroot?
