  • Increase mouse sensitivity further

    - by Albin
Hi I need help on how to increase the mouse sensitivity even further, because I maxed it out using the settings interface, and it's not enough . (I've tried two diffrent mouses that both are really good in windows so that shouldn't be the problem...) So what solution is there to this problem? (Using ubuntu and I've tried in both 9.10 and 10.4)

  • Share internet connection in OSX through existing wireless network?

    - by baloo
It's easy to share your Internet with AirPort by checking "Internet Sharing" in the system preferences, but this option asumes you want to create a new wireless network. Is there an easy way to configure Internet sharing if you want to use an already existing network? I want my laptop to use the existing wireless AP and share its internet to other clients within this network. Tried manually running natd -interface ppp0 without luck

  • Unattended Install of Zend Server license

    - by Zoop - Josh
I have a Zend Server 5.6 development license and I wanted to know if there is a way to apply the license during install, rather than via the web interface after it has installed. I ask because I administer our server environment via Rightscale and have automated the creation of the server, however it still requires manual input for the license details. We regularly fire up a staging server to do final tests before pushing to production and it would be great if it were completely hands off.

  • Is it possible to use a PC as a external drive via USB?

    - by homemdelata
I have a bluray player that has a USB interface that allows me to plug external hard drives and pendrives for me to play movies or music files. I was wondering if it's possible to have the PC or notebook or any other computer-like device using a USB-USB cable and make the bluray player detects this as an external drive. Note: I'm using a bluray player as example but it can be the same for DVD players, TV or sound sytems.

  • How many megabytes per second may I expect from a gigabit USB 2.0 network card under linux?

    - by Nakedible
I'm interested in the actual real-word throughput attainable with an external 1000BaseT USB 2.0 network card under Linux. I have been able to attain 90 megabytes per second on a PCI-E interface, but the USB 2.0 bus has a theoretical limit of 480Mbit/s, and in practice less than 40 megabytes per second. Is the actual throughput attainable with such a card under linux 40, 30, 20, or even as low as 10 megabytes per second, eg. no better than a normal 100BaseT network card?

  • Looking for a user friendly file upload service to run on my own server

    - by Joe Mako
My goal is to allow people to upload and download large files through their web browser with a simple user interface and user password/account management. Yousendit offers a service like what I am looking for, but it does not make sense to use their service if I already have a web server. Is there an open source version of Yousendit that I can run on my own web server? What is this type of software or service called? (calling it an FTP Server does not seem to fit)

  • Mac OS X Lion and KeepassX

    - by Hallsie11
I installed KeepassX on my new Mac which I am still learning the ropes on. I downloaded the program to allow autofill on Chrome ( KeePassHttp.plgx ). It says it needs to be put into directory of KeepassX, but I can't drag it into the application file and I'm not sure yet how to manipulate Terminal. Is terminal what I need to use or is there another way to put it in directory? At this point it is on the Chrome interface, but says it can't detect or make a connection with KX

  • Auditing bandwidth of remote sites

    - by keithosu
I would like to do an automatic audit of bandwidth of my remote offices. I understand that there are many websites where I could ask each user to go to a webpage and run the test. I was hoping there was some software that I could run on our web server and a script that I could send out that would run the test and record the results to a central web interface. The remote sites are all running some form of Windows and the server environment can be Linux or Windows based.

  • How to configure Notepad++ (Scintilla) to write below EOF after EOL [on hold]

    - by Piotr Piaseczny
Is it possible to configure scintilla to "brake" EOL/EOF while writing ? Now, if I want to begin writing in a column after EOL, I use ALT+left mouse button and start typing after click. No idea how to begin writing below EOF. Pressing Enter key many times is the only method now. Other explanation: If You open a new document, doesnt matter what kind of (php/txt etc) all You have is just one line. If You want to write in line 5 - must press Enter 5 times. Every other editor I know (IDE in Builder C++/MultiEdit) "ignore" eof and you can write anywhere in document. Because of php/html I've found notepad++ as a best editor but I'd like to "brake" limitations of (probably) scintilla

  • Installing mysql-server with python ssh connection

    - by mrbox
I'm writing a script in Python, which is connecting to server via ssh, then installing some packages. But there is problem with dialogue box, where i can type in a root password- i don't know how to send data there. Once I tried to do this, my apt(using Debian Lenny) gone crazy. Here is some info: - Debian Lenny - Using PySSH with easier interface, code looks like this: clientSSH = SSHClient( self.ip, 'root', self.rootPassword, None ) clientSSH.login() clientSSH.run_command('apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client php5') clientSSH.run_command('Y') #I Don't know how send root passwd here clientSSH.logout()

  • How do you start a program after X has started?

    - by cyborg
Hello, there's a little app called F.Lux that sets your screen temperature based on the time of day. The Linux version is a little spartan with just a console interface but it works perfectly well. The question I have is where can I invoke it so that it starts up after X has started? Thanks.

I have a script running that will start up an interface with a new IP. If the script comes up with an IP that is already in use i am in trouble. I=1 while [ "$I" != "256" ] do ifconfig eth0:1 $B.$I # check here that IP is Ok ! let "I=I+1" done

  • is there a tool that will let me take 'functional screenshots'?

    - by subpixel
It's one thing to grab screenshots of web sites and return to them for design and interface ideas and inspiration. But increasingly I've found that when I want to examine something that previously caught my eye, the actual web site has since been altered, so I can no longer learn from the code. I wonder: is there a tool available that would allow me to save interfaces in a format that would retain the html/css? Thanks

  • Stop that programming from running when i plug in my iPhone

    - by codingguy3000
I know that this is not exactly a programming question, but this is pretty geeky stuff so please don't vote me down. When ever I plug in my iPhone into my work computer Word 2007 decides it wants to start up. How do I make it stop? Is it a registry deal, or is there an windows interface that I'm unaware of. I'm on Win XP SP3 by the way. Thanks

  • How can virtualization be efficient?

    - by pestaa
As I understand, the virtual machine and the guest OS doubles the amount of abstraction layers (that are computationally relevant) between the user interface and the pure power of the hardware. Some of the said abstraction layers are (emulated) hardware, drivers, IO interfaces, etc. Top-notch virtualization solutions like Xen probably eliminate a few of these complexities, but I still wonder how efficiency is achieved in these environments; and whether manageable cloud servers are really worth the performance price.

  • How do I disable Aero transparency in Firefox 4?

    - by Titus
I noticed that the transparent interface in Firefox 4 for Windows 7 is really curbing performance. After Googling for a method to disable Aero for Firefox, however, I got no results. There just doesn't seem to be a straight forward (such as a simple Boolean to turn it off in about:config) method to get rid of Aero effects. Is it even possible in the Firefox 4 beta? I'm using Firefox 4 beta 12 (soon to be beta 13 after the update).

These include: Services Control Panel (grayed out stop button) Task Manager Killing Process Explorer Killing command line net and sc stopping runas with domain admin using net stop Some details include: Machine: Windows Vista Service Type: 10 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS Service State: 4 Running (NOT_STOPPABLE, NOT_PAUSABLE, ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)
