• Do you have to create a View Controller to move between views?

  I want a single startup view with a button and a welcome screen. When the button is pressed I then want to navigate to a second view which contains a table view and toolbar. I've tried creating a ViewController but my button is shown on all views. I just want a single view, then when it's pressed i go to the next view and the 'real' app starts. Can someone please try and explain the best architecture to do this? (like in chapter 6 of beginning iPhone 3 Development by Dave Mark and Jeff LaMarche ) Thanks

• JsonStore.insert() causes exception in extjs

  I have an EditorGridPanel with toolbar button to add new records. Everything works fine except one scenario. When I try to insert a record which already exists in database, server sends back: {"success":false,"message":"already exists","data":{}} but grid creates a new row marked with red triangle. If after that I try to insert a new record (even if it doesn't exist in database), everything works fine on the server side, but i get an 'uncaught exception' in firebug. It says: 'uncaught exception: Ext.data.DataReader: #realize was called with invalid remote-data. Please see the docs for DataReader#realize and review your DataReader configuration.' why is that?

• Where do Java Applets live?

  I'm trying to figure out where java Applets that I run from the browser get downloaded to. I'm using Firefox 3.0 on Windows XP with Java 1.6 if that makes any difference. From the Java Control Panel on the toolbar, I can access "Temporary Internet Files - Settings" to find the Java cache. From there I can show the resources and see a file called "dws2010066.dat". Does this resource correspond to a file on disk? I did a search in the Java cache (and my whole computer) but came up empty handed.

  Hello, I have a problem acessing a IBOutlet. I have a NIB inside which there is a tableview, a toolbar and an UILabel (encasulated into a view). The controller (that is the file's owner) is defined as : @interface ChoixPeriodeController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate> { IBOutlet UILabel* __periodeInitialeLabel; } @property(nonatomic, retain) UILabel* periodeInitialeLabel; - (void) setSelectedPeriode:(Tache_TypePeriode)typePeriode; In the .m file, this function is called by the parent window to init the Label : - (void) setSelectedPeriode:(Tache_TypePeriode)typePeriode { NSMutableString* tmpString = [NSMutableString string]; [tmpString appendFormat:bla bla bla;....]; self.periodeInitialeLabel.text = tmpString; } Into this function, I can see that self.periodeInitialeLabel is at nil. I can't see why ? Everything is connected into IB... Do you see what can be the problem ?

• Application.Idle causes high CPU usage

  Hello, I use the Application.Idle event to handle toolbar status (enable/disable) etc. quite extensively. As I'm beta testing Norton AntiVirus 2011, it brought to my attention that my app that I'm developing triggered a high CPU usage warning on at least one CPU. Sure enough, I opened the task manager and watched one of the four CPU's (quad core system) go to near 100%. I thought Application.Idle was the way to handle things when the application wasn't performing CPU tasks. Why is Application.Idle spiking the CPU? Here is how I attach to the event: AddHandler Application.Idle, AddressOf OnAppIdle Been using Application.Idle for a long time, never knew it would have this issue. Using VS 2010 .NET 4 Thank you.

• Build turns partially transparent image pixels black

  I'm very new to C# and I've run into a problem and haven't been able to solve it. I have a row of buttons that have .png images assigned to them. The images are in .png format to allow transparency, and smoothing the edges in GIMP leaves some semi-transparent pixels. I've set the Image List Toolbar (imglToolbar)'s properties to recognize "Transparent" as the designated color to show up as transparent. I'm working in Visual Studio 2005. The strange thing is that everything looks great when I'm viewing the Visual C# form preview window. The icons look exactly as they should. However, once I actually build the project, the buttons treat every semi-transparent pixel near the edge of the image as if it's black. [self.view setFrame:CGRectMake(self.view.frame.origin.x, self.view.frame.origin.y + keyboardFrame.size.height * (up ? -1 : 1), self.view.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height)]; Now I want to click the left button in the tool bar, and appear the view that frame is same as the this keyboard. But where can I add this view? if add the subview to the self.view, it will move up with the self.view on the top of the keyboard, not cover. I'm a beginner about IOS, I have no idea about it, and have searched, but got nothing about this. another question, IF when the toolbar at the bottom, I aslo want to click the left button on it to show the view(the animation and frame both are the same as the keyboard), how can I do ? • Image gets slightly erased on SWT/Windows

  I have an Eclipse plugin which includes a view. The view has several icons in the toolbar. I'm experiencing a very strange problem: on Windows, in some occasions (after prolonged use), one of the icons gets slightly erased. This does not happen on other platforms. This looks like a memory leak or some other resource misuse, but I just can't figure out where. The rest of the icons, which are initialized and used in the exact same manner are not affected. I tried working with Sleak, but I really don't see anything out of the ordinary. Any help would be appreciated.

• How do I write a Photoshop Extension (8BX) plugin?

  The Adobe Photoshop CS3/4 SDk has a lot of examples for Filter, Import, Export etc plugins but I havent found anything that illustrates how to write a 8BX plugin. Reason I need to write one is to add a new drop down menu to the Photoshop root toolbar (where it displays File, Edit, Image .. Window. Help drop down menus). I have seen product like OneSoftware install an 8BX plugin into Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\Extensions directory that causes PS to add adrop down menu for OneSoft. That suggest this is a solvable problem :-) I tried by changing an existing plugin in the SDlK samples but no go. Specifically i modified the resource file: resource 'PiPL' (ResourceID, plugInName " PiPL", purgeable) { { Kind { **Extension** }, Name { plugInName "..." }, ... Despite using the Extension Kind , PS never loads the plugin. It doesnt generate any compile time or load error either. Anyone has ideas on how to go about doing this ? Thanks

• How do I find the Recaptcha ID?

  I've been stuck on something for the past day. I'm building a RoR bot, and part of it involves signing up for an email account with mail.com. I've automated all the filling out of the form, apart from the captcha (Recaptcha). I'll be using the deathbycaptcha Ruby gem. However, in order to have the captcha solved, I'll need to get either its ID or its URL. While this shows up when I "enable form details" with the Firefox Web Developer toolbar, it doesn't seem to be in the source. How can I find it out? I'm using Watir. Thanks! Joe

  Hi Folks! I have been working on a web app and for part of it I need to open a new window. I have this working on all browsers, my sticking point is with Google Chrome. Chrome seems to ignore the window features which is causing me issues, the thing I'm struggling with is I need the address bar to be editable within the new window. FF, IE, Safari and Opera do this fine, Chrome does not. • iPhone: Switching Views From Outside Root Controller

  I am using a UINavigationController to switch between views. What I would like is for each view to have the ability to control when it is swapped out for another view by having buttons within the view. All of the samples I've seen thus far have placed buttons on a toolbar, which is located on the root view containing the Switch View Controller rather than the views, them self. Is it possible to do what I want? I can't figure how to wire up the connection back to the UINavigationController. I'm having a difficult time wording this, so please feel free to let me know if you need additional clarification.

  Hi, I'm trying to do some automation of windows applications. To do whatever I want to do, I need the window handles of some controls. Before, I would accomplish this with a combination EnumWindows, EnumChildWindows and GetWindowText. But now, some newer programs no longer have toolbar with buttons on it. Instead, they have a ribbon. This didn't seem like much of a problem to me at first, but now I notice that the buttons on the ribbon don't show up in EnumChildWindows! Or at least GetWindowText does not return the same text as the one seen on the screen. So to make a long story short: Can anybody tell me how I can programatically find the handle of a button on a ribbon? Thanks. Regards, ldx

• Alter top and bottom borders of Dojo/Dijit Dialog and ContentPane

  I have a Dojo/Dijit Dialog that contains a FORM. There is a top border between the title bar and the content, and a bottom border below the content. Both are about 19 or 20 pixels high and colored #eeeeee. I can't find these borders in the CSS anywhere -- actually, neither can the IE Developer Toolbar -- they just don't seem to exist as elements. I suspect that Dijit is adding these programatically. Is there any way to just remove these borders? I just want my content to consume all of the dialog area below the title bar. TIA

When I click this button a popup view comes and my control is being moved to the popup view's Controller. But my view is still the same. From this popupview Controller's class, I want to change my original view. But since I am not in my original viewControllers class, I am not able to change it. How can I overcome this? • Automating Firefox configuration settings

  Hi All, During web development work, I need to be able to quickly switch various config settings in Firefox. In particular I need to be able to: 1) Switch off cookies 2) Switch off javascript 3) Switch my user agent (I have the user-agent switcher add-on installed) and then back again. Instead of doing this manually, it would be great if i could add a "macro" button to my toolbar that I could simply click to toggle the three settings above. Anyone know if this is possible? Btw - Firefox Profiles doesn't really cut it. You can't dynamically switch profiles within a specific Firefox instance, which I need to be able to do. Btw2 - I got excited when i saw Greasemonkey, Chicken Foot, but it looks like these can only automate browsing/DOM tasks, and not with firefox configuration settings. Thanks Richard.
