    - by eflles
Me and some friends are writing a MORPG in Java, and we would like to use a scripting language to, eg. to create quests. We have non experience with scripting in Java. We have used Python, but we are very inexperienced with it. One of us also have used Javascript. What scripting language should we use? What scripting language should we not use?

  • Yahoo OAuth implementation has no way to work offline

    - by Khash
I need to download my Delicious bookmarks to a non-web application without constant user interaction. I'm using Delicious's V2 API (using oAuth) but the problem is it seems their access tokens expire after one hour. I don't have any issues with redirecting the user to Yahoo for a one time authorization, but what is described here (http://developer.yahoo.com/oauth/guide/oauth-refreshaccesstoken.html) means I would have to refresh my access tokens all the time before they expire when the user is away. Is this really the way they've done their oAuth implementation?

  • JDBC Licensing - Packaging jdbc in jar

    - by John
Hi there. I'm packaging my open-source non-commercial java application in a .jar and I'd like to package the JDBC mysql-connector with it as it is a dependency. The issue that I am having is that I'm uncertain whether or not this is frowned upon or even illegal due to the JDBC license. I've also got the jdbc mysql-connector jar in my code repository. -- Has anyone been in the same situation? Thanks in advance.

  • Java applets vs Silverlight vs Flash (Flex)

    - by Peter Gfader
Everybody talks about Silverlight and Flash and Flex and how cool etc... Java applets are very similar to Silverlight and Flex, but Java applets exist since 1995. What is the reason we don't have any cool Java applet applications around? My guesses so far: start up time of Java applet, restricted network connectivity, lack of dev tools, ... Are there any cool Java applets around? Please post links

  • SVNKit: Commit files that were manually deleted from filesystem( Work Copy)

    - by Jam
I can not solve the problem with collecting CommitItem(changes that commit), or more accurately, I have no porblem with the changed and added files BUT files that I manually deleted from the file system is not seen in CommitItem list ... And those changes can not commit to the SVN server. If I delete a file using the API, then the problem does not exist... but manually deleting ... Has anyone had a similar problem?

  • Roadmap for HTML5 features in WebKit for Android

    - by mobileopen
I recently tried out the applicationCache / offline web apps on Android 2.1's WebKit and unfortunately it does not work exactly like on a webkit on the iPhone. I was wondering how I can easily see what features should be implemented and if there is something like a roadmap? Does that information somewhere exist?

  • Podcast Focusing on XNA or Game/Graphics Programming in General

    - by Daniel Brotherston
I realize there are a number of podcast related questions, but I'm specifically looking for XNA oriented podcasts. I've Googled around a little bit, but I have been unable to find any current podcasts. I'm just wondering if anyone else knows of any interesting ones. I'd guess if Google can't find them, they don't exist but I thought I'd ask anyways. Also, failing that, podcasts about game development in general would be interesting as well. Thanks!

  • fabric and svn password

    - by hyperboreean
Assuming that I cannot run something like this with Fabric: run("svn update --password 'password' .") how's the proper way to pass to Fabric the password for the remote interactive command line? I am not sure, but the svn server we're using might have some restrictions to not allow --non-interactive passwords and I couldn't find a way to automatically update a remote repo.

  • SWI-Prolog tokenize_atom/2 replacement?

    - by Shark
What I need to do is to break atom to tokens. E. g.: tokenize_string('Hello, World!', L). would unify L=['Hello',',','World','!']. Exactly as tokenize_atom/2 do. But when I try to use tokenize_atom/2 with non-latin letters it fails. Is there any universal replacement or how I can write one? Thanks in advance.

I really don't miss the reference ... Maybe I need to add it somehow else or ... I really have no idea. (VSWDEE2010)

    - by Kiran Kuppa
Hello All, When a J2ME application runs on Samsung Bada phone (GT-S5320, in my case),a virtual keypad is shown on the screen by default and always! This virtual keypad consists of the following keys - LEFT,RIGHT,UP,DOWN,FIRE and SOFT1, SOFT2. Is there anyway I can control when this keypad is displayed and when it isn't. I understand that this would be a platform specific solution. But does it exist? Thanks, -- Kiran Kuppa

  • REST, HTTP DELETE and parameters

    - by Chris McCauley
Is there anything non-RESTful about providing parameters to a HTTP DELETE request? My scenario is that I'm modeling the "Are you sure you want to delete that?" scenario and eventually I end up having to pass a parameter to the delete request with "?force_delete=true" e.g. DELETE http://server/resource/id?force_delete=true If the user does not specify force_delete then I'm returning 409 Conflict - is that correct?

  • Good Project Organization Software

    - by QAH
Hello everyone! I am really having a hard time trying to set a schedule with development of my game. I would do better and quicker development if I had some sort of schedule to go by. What are some good programs out there, desktop or web, that allow you to easily organize your project and set development goals and milestones? I would prefer options that are free in cost, but feel free to mention non-free programs also. Thanks alot

  • Uploading to Youtube via a proxy using the Java Youtube API

    - by Binaromong
    So I want to write a servlet which uploads a video to a youtube channel using the Java API, but I can't seem to find a way of specifying that I want to go through a proxy server. I've seen an example on this site where someone managed to do this using C#, but the Classes they used don't seem to exist in the Java API. Has anybody managed to successfully do this? YouTubeService service = new YouTubeService(clientID, developerKey);

  • Pros and cons of distributed revision control systems?

    - by Ludwig Weinzierl
What are the advantages and disadvantages of distributed revision control systems? If you have any experience with distributed systems like Git, Mercurial, Plastic SCM, etc. please share your experience. Tell us what worked well and where problems arose. I'm particularly interested to hear about the use of distributed systems in traditional, commercial, non-open source projects but answers about other uses are also welcome.
