Modify cmd.exe properties using the command prompt

Isn't that nicely recursive? I've got a portable command prompt on my external drive, and it has a nice .bat file to configure some initial settings, but I'd like more! Here's what I know how to set from .bat: Colors = (color XY) where x and y are hex digits for the predefined colors Prompt = (prompt $p$g) sets the prompt to "C:\etc\etc " the default prompt Title = (title "text") sets the window title to "text" Screen Size = (mode con: cols=XX lines=YY) sets the columns and lines size of the window Path = (SET PATH=%~d0\bin;%PATH%) sets up local path to my tools and appends the computer's path So that's all great. But there are a few settings I can't seem to set from the bat. Like, how would I set these up wihtout using the Properties dialogue: Buffer = not screen size, but the buffer Options like quick edit mode and autocomplete Popup colors Font. And can you use a font on the portable drive, or must it be installed to work? Command history options

How do I use Python's itertools.groupby()?

I haven't been able to find an understandable explanation of how to actually use Python's itertools.groupby() function. What I'm trying to do is this: take a list - in this case, the children of an objectified lxml element - divide it into groups based on some criteria, and then later iterate over each of these groups separately. I've reviewed the documentation (http://docs.python.org/lib/itertools-functions.html), and the examples, (http://docs.python.org/lib/itertools-example.html), but I've had trouble trying to apply them beyond a simple list of numbers. So, how do I use of itertools.groupby()? Is there another technique I should be using? Pointers to good "prerequisite" reading would also be appreciated.

weird characters displayed during serial communication OSX

I have tried communicating via serial (OSX w/ prolific drivers - USB RS232 adapter - Tx,Rx and GND pins on device serial ttl port) to a device and done so successfully using screen /dev/tty.usbserial 115200 8N1 I get to log in and use it as if I was SSH or TelNetted in... However whenever I try to go into system recovery mode (holding CTRL+1) while the device is powering on, it starts displaying weird characters and until I close the screen session it will continue showing weird characters: Of course when we tried doing the same thing on my boss' macbook running windows and PuTTY and everything worked fine, even in system recovery mode; characters were displayed properly. What gives? Id like to learn the intuition to use because up till now I concluded that since I can bot into the system and see characters normally everything about the connection should be fine and its must have been the recovery partition that was broken. Telerik RadEditor working issue under VS2008

I've a SharePoint portal for tracking questions in a list. When I open an list item in IE8 Telerik Editor works fine. But if I open this page inside VS2008 in browser mode this control starts to do unexpected actions. It's the Telerik RadEditor for Sharepoint v. 5.3.2.0. Is it a bug of VS2008 or a bug of Telerik RadEditor? Steps to reproduce: Install Telerik RadEditor in SharePoint portal Create a List with Rich editing field and create a new item Paste or type a text into Rich editing field and save changes Open VS2008 Click on any link in start page to open browser window Open created list item in VS in editing mode Mark a part of text in Rich editing field Marked text disappears. WPF 4 Datagrid with ComboBox

I have a WPF 4 app with a ComboBox embedded in a DataGrid. The ComboBox is in a template column that displays the combobox when in edit mode but just a TextBlock otherwise. If I edit the cell and pick a new value from the combobox, when leaving the cell, the TextBlock in view mode does not reflect the new value. Ultimately, the new value gets saved and is displayed when the window is refreshed but it does not happen while still editing in the grid. Here are the parts that are making this more complicated. The grid and the combobox are bound to different ItemsSource from the EnityFramework which is tied to my database. For this problem, the grid is displaying project members. The project member name can be picked from the combobox which gives a list of all company employees. Any ideas on how to tie the view mode of the DataGridColumnTemplate to the edit value when they are pointing to different DataSources? DRUPAL: Spamspan module... how does it work ?

hi, I've installed http://drupal.org/project/spamspan module for Drupal (drupal.org/project/spamspan), in order to obfuscate the e-mail addresses on my website. However I'm not sure it is working. I can see the email url from source html and I think the module is not filtering anything. I've added some e-mails in the text editor CKEditor. Is it automatically detecting these emails written in text editor ? I haven't find any settings menu, after I installed the module. I guess there is not. thanks

Let's say I have two entities, Employee and Skill. Every employee has a set of skills. Now when I load the skills lazily through the Employee instances the cache is not used for skills in different instances of Employee. Let's Consider the following data set. Using Spring's KeyHolder with programmatically-generated primary keys

Hello, I am using Spring's NamedParameterJdbcTemplate to perform an insert into a table. The table uses a NEXTVAL on a sequence to obtain the primary key. I then want this generated ID to be passed back to me. I am using Spring's KeyHolder implementation like this: KeyHolder key = new GeneratedKeyHolder(); jdbcTemplate.update(Constants.INSERT_ORDER_STATEMENT, params, key); However, when I run this statement, I am getting: org.springframework.dao.DataRetrievalFailureException: The generated key is not of a supported numeric type. Unable to cast [oracle.sql.ROWID] to [java.lang.Number] at org.springframework.jdbc.support.GeneratedKeyHolder.getKey(GeneratedKeyHolder.java:73) Any ideas what I am missing?

I'm working with an XML document where a tag must either have one set of attributes or another. EC2 instance suddenly refusing SSH connections and won't respond to ping

My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help? svnkit: Problem getting entry name

I'm trying to create a SVN Eclipese EFS plugin and have problems when getting the names of entries. When I make a call to: SVNRepository `//Fetches the contents of a directory into the provided collection object and returns the directory entry itself. SVNDirEntry getDir(String path, long revision, boolean includeCommitMessages, Collection entries)` It correctly returns the entry for the provided path, however, it doesn't set the "name" value on the "returned" entry. Note, the items returned in the collection are all OK. Does anyone know why this is? And/or if there is a workaround? How to create JPA EntityMananger in Spring Context?

I have a JPA/Spring application that uses Hibernate as the JPA provider. In one portion of the code, I have to manually create a DAO in my application with the new operator rather than use Spring DI. When I do this, the @PersistenceContext annotation is not processed by Spring. That is, there is no Map argument to the createEntityManager() call. Perhaps it is another problem entirely however....not sure!

Managing web.config for teams in VS2010 & TFS

With VS2010's mandate that web.config be included in the project, how do we allow everyone to keep their own custom config file without getting into source control problems? Previously, we would simply leave web.config out of our project, allowing everyone to keep their own local version of web.config on their machine. We moved to VS2010, and it is now forcing me to add web.config to my project in order to run debug mode. Because our project is linked to TFS, it automatically adds web.config to source control and tries to maintain it that way. Is there a way to run in debug mode without including web.config in your project? Or is there a better way to manage config files?

Right edge border unpainted & theme drawing on non client area

Basically, the problem concerns border flickering during window resizing on Windows. My first goal was to repositioning controls on a dialog during resizing of it. I think I got a good dynamic repositioning without almost any flickering during this operation, but here I'm talking about main window border flickering. However, I wasn't able to eliminate it at all. To simplify the example try to create a simple win32 app with default code VS provided. I'm testing it on Window 7(64bit) with the default theme (Windows 7 basic, no transparency) and VS2008. 1) Do not add code to the app. 2) run it in debug mode. 3) Drag the left edge of the window slowly toward the left of the screen and at the same time keep an eye on the right edge border of the window. You should see a redrawing taking in action. 4) Repeat step 3 moving rapidly the mouse, you should see the flickering on the right edge more clearly. If you invert the edge, that is moving the right edge of the window, then the left edge stay firmly there without unpainted regions. The same process happens for the top edge border vs. the bottom one. Now, enable he Classic Theme (that similar to Win2000) and repeat again the steps above. The right edge is perfectly there without flickering at all! If you keep an eye in the Output Window of Visual Studio when you run in debug mode you should see a list of dll loaded together with your exe. If you run in debug mode with the default theme you will see uxtheme.dll loaded. On the contrary, with classic theme enabled the uxtheme.dll is not loaded (dwmapi.dll is always loaded). Probably uxtheme.dll is loaded at runtime, based on desktop settings and it takes in action for redrawing your windows non-client area. Another trick you could use to see the effect of this flickering is to add a case for WM_NCPAINT and return 0 instead to call the DefWindowProc(). Repeating the steps above and moving fast you should see a big part of the right edge of the window completely erased by background windows. This doesn't happen for the top and bottom ones. Any idea to resolve this flickering? Thank you!

Netbeans GUI editor generating its own incomprehensible code.

When creating a new project in netbeans, if i select JAVA Desktop application, it creates some code which I DO NOT RECOGNISE AT ALL as what i had learnt in swing. It imports packages such as : org.jdesktop.application.SingleFrameApplication; also, the declaration for main() looks like this : public static void main(String[] args) { launch(DesktopApplication2.class, args); } This really does not make any sense to my knowledge of JFrame, JPanel etc.. If i try to code a netbeans application from scratch, i can write my own swing app BUT I CANNOT FIND THE GUI EDITOR. How do i bring the GUI editor when creating java application from scratch ? Can anyone explain to me this org.jdesktop.application.SingleFrameApplication and other classes ? Please help. This is really frustrating.
