  • On iPhone, what does EPERM (errno == 1) mean in reponse to send() of UDP data?

    We sending data over UDP from the iPhone, sometimes, but not always, in response to our first send() of UDP data, we are getting back a -1 return code and errno set to 1 (EPERM / operation not permitted). The EPERM result for send(), sendto() and sendmsg() is not documented in the man pages as a return result from those functions. Has anyone out there encountered this and might be able to shed some light on what this errno value means in this context?

    Hi, Is it possible to return a single value and an enumerable collection using LINQ to SQL? The problem is, I'm trying to do paging across a large recordset. I only want to return 10 rows at a time so I'm using .Skip(20).Take(10) approach. However I need to know the total number of records so I can show an appropriate page x of y. I'm trying to compare them in a way that validates that every element of one list has the same value as every element of another list. My Equals method below always returns false, can anyone see why that is?     Is it better to return a null value or throw an exception from an API method? Returning a null requires ugly null checks all over, and cause a major quality problem if the return is not checked. Throwing an exception forces the user to code for the faulty condition, but since Java exceptions bubble up and force the caller code to handle them, in general, using custom exceptions may be a bad idea (specifically in java). Any sound and practical advice?

But just wondering the best way to print out arrays.. I can't for the life of me get it to print more than 1 element without it retunring an error e.g. Warning: Illegal string offset 'steamid' in /opt/lampp/htdocs/lan/lan-includes/scripts/class.steam.php on line 48 string(1) "R" So I can print one element, and if I add another it returns errors.   • How can I improve the recursion capabilities of my ECMAScript implementation?

    After some resent tests I have found my implementation cannot handle very much recursion. Although after I ran a few tests in Firefox I found that this may be more common than I originally thought. I believe the basic problem is that my implementation requires 3 calls to make a function call. The first call is made to a method named Call that makes sure the call is being made to a callable object and gets the value of any arguments that are references. The second call is made to a method named Call which is defined in the ICallable interface. This method creates the new execution context and builds the lambda expression if it has not been created. The final call is made to the lambda that the function object encapsulates.     Problem: If I pass a class with value semantics (Equals method overridden) to NHibernate, NHibernate tries to save it to db even though it just saved an entity equal by value (but not by reference) to the database. What am I doing wrong? Here is a simplified example model for my problem: Let's say I have a Person entity and a City entity. One thread (producer) is creating new Person objects which belong to a specific existing City, and another thread (consumer) is saving them to a repository (using NHibernate as DAL). Since there is lot of objects being flushed at a time, I am using Guid.Comb id's to ensure that each insert is made using a single SQL command.
