• Debug/step into a Linux boot

  Is there a way to watch Linux boot as though it was a program compiled with GCC on a Linux environment using the -g switch so, say, I can step through the entire boot sequence from GRUB onwards, choosing to step through at C source level or assembly when necessary/desirable, by using GDB or a GDB-like tool? I suspect it would require a virtual machine at least, to watch the boot on a host environment. Any elaboration on this topic of observing a boot would be appreciated!

  My problem is pretty straight forward: HTC Sync manager works perfectly with my HTC One X. However, it filters extensions it's not able to use with it's stock applications. (HTC Sense) But 3rd party applications can handle other extensions of course. Is there a way to adjust the HTC Sync Manager so that extensions will not be filtered? And if that's not possible is there a syncronisation tool that synchronises automatically once the android device is connected through USB? (Tried Allway Sync, doesn't work properly)

  Is there some tool within Opera, or possibly an add-on, which will let me take a screenshot of an entire web page? I usually use Screengrab to do this with Firefox, but in this situation I want a screenshot of the page as Opera renders it (because I want to show the page as rendered with HTML5 form controls like date and time). I am currently using Opera 10.60 x86_64 on Fedora 12, so solutions that work in browser would be preferable rather than external programs.

  I just found a list of about 2000 car manufacturers which I want to put into a drop-down list... but 2000 is probably a bit too many, so I want to filter it down to maybe the top 100 most popular cars. I figure I can just use Google search popularity to give me a rough estimate of how popular the car is... but I can't find a tool that will let me query 2000 keywords. Anyone know of one?

  Can the utility "Installation Monitor" from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Tools for administrative tasks be used on newer OS's, specifically, Windows Server 2008 R2. The main thing I am concerned about is it may error will not track things correctly without letting me know that that it errored due to how Windows has changed between 2000 and today. However, I would like for users who do not use Internet Explorer to be able to use the search features. What are some alternatives to Visio here?
