Allow Internet Access with Default Gateway on Windows 7 VPN Server

I have a Windows 7 box at home (which I'll refer to as Home-VPN) that runs a simple PPTP VPN server. I have a range of 2 IP address (192.168.1.10-192.168.1.11) to give out, although the server is only able to give out one concurrent connection. Ports 1723 & 47 are correctly forwarded to the server. IPv6 is disabled on both Home-VPN and the client. I setup Home-VPN just like this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s5JxMG06L4 I can connect to it just fine but I can't access the Internet when connected to Home-VPN, all outside web servers (eg. google.com, mozilla.org, apple.com) are unreachable. I know I can uncheck "Use Default Gateway on Remote Servers" on the client side under IPv4 settings but that will route all my traffic through my current connection, rather than through the VPN, defeating the purpose of said VPN. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I'm trying to deploy Rails 2.1.2 with Apache 2.2.10 and FastCGI (yeah, bad, ancient, ugly, I know). My application can be accessed via example.com/app/public/, but I want to access it via example.com/app/. In my .htaccess-File (in the app/-directory!) I have: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /app/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/dispatch.fcgi [QSA,L] How can I forward each request going to app/ to app/public/? Every time I try this (like, with RewriteRule ^.*$ public/$1 [QSA]) I get a routing error: No route matches "/app/" with {:method=>:get} Help?

Store system passwords with easy and secure access

I'm having to handle several VPS/services and I always set passwords to be different and random. What kind of storage do you suggest to keep these passwords safe and let me access them easily? These passwords are used for services like databases, webserver user and so on that run customers' services, so it's really important to keep them in a safe place and strong. I'm actually storing them in a google drive spreadsheet file, describing user, password, role, service. Do you know of better solutions? I'd like to keep them on a remote service to make sure I don't have to make backup copies (in case my hdd would fail somehow). I do work on *nix platforms (so windows specific solutions are not a choice here).

Cannot access internal network on OSX 10.6.6

Last week, I began having trouble connecting to our internal web servers. Usually, a refresh would take care of it or switching to a different wireless network, but as of yesterday, this wasn't enough. We have an internal DNS server using dnsmasq and a private internal host name (us.lcl). Once I started having more issues with the names not resolving, I tried pinging the server. Using the internal host name (s1.us.lcl), it failed. I tried using the IP address, but that also failed. I have no problems accessing external sites with the exception of it being a bit slower than normal. A reboot yesterday at lunch time after following the instructions here seemed to fix the issue, but when I came into the office this morning, it had stopped working. As of this posting, I cannot ping, ssh or access the web server using the internal host name or ip address. I'm the only one running 10.6 in my office and none of my colleagues has this issue.

configure postfix to send as different domains

I have postfix configured to receive mail for multiple domains. The primary domain goes through a standard postfix setup, whereas a secondary domain is handed by a /etc/postfix/virtual.db file which maps addresses for the secondary domain to other unix users. Incoming mail works perfectly, but when I send mail as users on the secondary domain, the mail receiver still sees it as coming from [unix username]@[primarydomain].net. Can anyone help me figure out how to configure the virtual postfix domain to send mail through the same domain it receives it as?

Server 2012r2 VPN DNS

Have an issue where onsite clients cannot resolve VPNusers. but VPN users can resolve onsite machines. example. USER! uses LAPTOP1 USER1 connects to VPN gets internal IP address of 10.243.0.200 USER1 pings SERVER1 - resolve to ip and gets reply USER1 RDP into SERVER1 (inside VPN) USER1 pings LAPTOP1 from SERVER1 resolves to ip address last assigned by DHCP (10.243.0.139) ping fails USER1 pings 10.243.0.200 from SERVER1 gets reply. Running Server 2012r2 It is a domain controller, DNS and VPN server. VPN is just configured with basic default settings. All VPN users have static IP setup in AD. Not sure where to go from here.

Allow access only to one website

Hey. I'd like to allow access on a computer connected directly to the internet to one website ONLY. The solution of IE's "Content advisor" or firefox's "FoxFilter" isn't good enough because it actually downloads the data and just don't display it. I want to block the traffic before the requests are sent. How is it possible? Thanks. Edit: OS is windows xp. The browser can be firefox, iexplorer, chrome... It doesn't matter. The computer is connected directly to the modem.

Server 2008 Hyper-V User Accounts to access each other

Hi, I have a windows server 2008 r2 with 3 hyper-v vm's IIS server Sql server 3 - Mail server I'm new to networking/server configuration. I have created a Virtual Network and can see each of the 3 VMs as well as the host on the network. I can connect from each VM to the host using the admin account. However, what would be the best (secure) way to create connections/accounts between the VMs, presumabely this shouldn't be done with an admin account but one with lesser priveledges. For example, to be able to access the SQL Server VM from the IIS server VM?

"Access is denied" when copying text file to printer UNC path

We have a new server running Server 2008 R2. We also have a "DOS-based" program that prints directly to the UNC path of a print share. With the new server, we are unable to print from this program. According to support, the program's printing works in the same way as if we were to do a "copy mytextfile.txt \\myserver\myprinter". When we try to run this command in DOS, we get "Access is denied". Support is saying that this is why the DOS program is not able to print. I have tried granting all permissions on the printer to the appropriate users (under Security of the printer properties) but that did not work. Is there a policy setting that would cause this to be denied?

FreeNAS plugins not able to access storage

I've just setup a FreeNAS box and have a couple plugins (sick beard and SABnzbd) installed. Both of these have you select a directory where downloads should go. My storage is on /mnt/MediaVolume/ however when I navigate to mnt it's an empty directory. When I SSH to the box though, I can see it just fine. I'm thinking it may have something to do with permissions, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions how to allow these plugins to view/have access? Thank you!

Remote access over VPN machine

Here is my scenario. I have Comp1 which has VPN installed on it & working fine. I have made Comp1 as remote enabled as well. Now i want to log in to Comp1 ( remotely) from Comp2. Without starting the VPN, remote desktop works fine from Comp2 to Comp1. When i connect to VPN on Comp1 the remote desktop from Comp2 breaks. Is there a way i can run VPN on Comp1 and be able to access from Comp2 remotely. If there is change in settings, please advice. Regards

Cannot Access Server from External IP (Router)

We have an Ubuntu 10.04 LAMP server running on site (Apache is on port 80). It is running fine through the LAN, but I cannot access it using its external IP address through the Netopia 3000 Series modem by which it is connected to the internet. I have tried using what Netopia calls "Pinholes" (Port Forwarding) to make the server accessible, but a telnet to the external address just gives me "connect to address x.x.x.x: Operation timed out." I have also tried enabling "Services" and "IP Passthrough" on the router, but it gives the same result as above. How can I enable the server to be accessed through its external IP address? Because it connects fine locally, it would seem to be a problem with the Netopia router. Update: Booting the server in GUI mode instead of text mode solved the problem instantly. Any ideas why?

I wanted to ask the users on here if they've had to do such setups and/or if they have recommendations? Is there maybe a system that integrates with Active Directory? Can't access unprotected .pst file in Outlook 2010

My father has a Windows 7 x64 system with 32-bit Outlook 2010. He asked me to access his archived mail to get to some old mail. When going to open the file I'm asked for a password (he never applied one) and I get a message saying "password is incorrect. Re-Type password". Since he told me that he never set a password I tried opening the .pst with Nucleus, a tool that allows me to view the .pst's. Does anyone know what the deal is? With the free version of Nucleus we can't view the attachments.

iPhone can't access webserver on lan

I have Apache serving on 192.168.1.4:8888 on a Windows 7 computer. I can't view the website with iPhone/iPad's Safari. I have another linux computer and it can access the webserver or ping the address. Is there a problem with the apple devices? I have an app on the iphone capable of pinging. I ping the webserver's address and I get nothing. But I can ping the iPhone from the linux or windows computer.

Unable to access MySQL from MyPHPAdmin after setting root password in EasyPHP{WAMP}

Am a new starter with WAMP and trying to play around my way using the EasyPHP setup. After successful setup on intial launch of MySQL, the page prompted me to set up ROOT password for security reasons. On setting the password, am no longer able to access MySQL. The error is : Error MySQL said: Documentation 1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) Looked up on the net and tried the following options in the config.inc.php from the phpmyadmin foler: 1] Set the authetication to "http" so that it prompts to enter the username and password /* Authentication type */ $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http'; 2] Set up the correct password in the config file $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'myPwd'; None of them worked. Can anyone suggest a workaround to access MySQL? Am not fussed about not being able to use the root account but would like to CRUD on the database using other username. Thanks in advance.

Howto I get the user domain\username and Display name From SharePoint People Picker InternalId?

I have been trying to user sharepoint designer to retrieve the user's full name and even the domain\username from the people pucker field but the problem is I tend to get numbers. It looks like the intetrnal Id. In my case I am getting 14 instead of domain\username from the list form's field. Any idea on where I can get the dmain\username or even better the full name? Thanks !! I am using SharePoint Designer and Windows Sharepoint Services 3/SharePoint 2007. Update : I have managed to get the domain\username now. I just had to change the people picker's show field to ID. However now I am getting a weird prefix on my domain\username. I am getting this -1;#domain\username instead of just domain\username. Anybody know how I can overcome this? Thanks !!

Cannot access MOSS site from within MOSS server

I am trying to access my MOSS site through the browser on the web server itself. I am using the same URL that is used for external access to the site. When I hit it from outside the server, I can see most of the site, which has anonymous access, and can use a domain account to get into secure areas. When I hit it from within the server, I get prompted for a password, but no matter what I enter it seems to reject it and just presents another password dialog. Has anyone seen anything like this?

SQL 2008 R2 login/network issue

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 new clean install , not a VM, that I have added to a Windows Server 2003 based domain using my account which has domain admin rights. The domain functional level is 2003. I performed a clean install of SQL Server 2008 R2 using my account which has domain admin rights. The installation completed without any errors. I logged into SSMS locally and attempted to add another domain account by clicking Search, Advanced and finding the user in the domain. When I return to the "Dialog - New" window and click OK I receive the following error: Create failed for Login 'Domain\User'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) Windows NT user or group 'Domain\User' not found. Check the name again. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15401) I have verified that the firewall is off, tried adding a different domain user, tried using SA to add a user, installed the hotfix for KB 976494 and verified that the Local Security Policy for Domain Member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel Domain Member: Digitally encrypt secure channel Domain Member: Digitally sign secure channel are disabled none of which have made a difference. I can RDP to a Server 2003 server running SQL 2008 and add the same domain user without issue. Also if I try to connect with SSMS to the sql server from another system on the domain using my account I get the following error: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452) and on the database server I see the following in the security event log: An account failed to log on. I'm wondering if it's possible to access page JavaScript variables with Selenium. I have an application that's using a variable attached to the window object. It has a global scope and I can access it either with window._myvar, window['_myvar'], _myvar, this['_myvar'], this._myvar depending on the context. So I tried to get Selenium to echo it. As far as I understand, in Selenium IDE the context in which everything runs is selenium. I tried doing this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()._myvar, this.browserbot.getCurrentWindow()[_myvar] to no avail. I get bumped with the following error Unexpected Exception: message -> eval(match[1]) is undefined. Anyone managed to access their page's JavaScript?

Team Foundation Server Setup/Access

What I need: A TFS 2010 Setup that allows 2 application developers to access the TFS from remote locations. How it is setup: Server 2008 Standard 2g Ram 300g HD space SharePoint Server 2007, using SQL Server 2005 SQL Server 2008 Standard Team Foundation Server 2010 IIS 7 Sharepoint Bindings: TFS.DynAccount.Me:80; TFS:80 TFS Bindings: TFS.DynAccount.Me:8080; TFS:8080 Using DynDNS service to account for the dynamic ip address being used, this is a requirement for the moment until I can get a better isp package. Access using Local Accounts Server is not setup on a domain, or as a domain. Consequently I did not setup AD services. Problem: When logged into TFS using my credentials TFS\AdminUser through the DynDNS account TFS.DynAccount.Me I recieve the 'Red X of Death' on the Documents and Reports folder. When logged into the TFS through the local peer to peer network using the same credentials TFS\AdminUser I do not receive the 'Red X of Death' problem. Further Troubleshooting: When users 'Right Click' the 'TeamProject1' Click 'Show Project Portal' it tries to take them to http://TFS:8080 instead of http://TFS.DynAccount.Me:8080, which doing further research I am assuming that it is because team foundation server was setup with a local name of TFS instead of 'TFS.DynAccount.Me' as specified here in Visual Studio Magazines: The Red X of Death. Users can Access the Team Portal for SharePoint via http://TFS.DynAccount.Me/TeamCollection/TeamProject so it is not like we are dead in the water or anything. However, as most employees/staff are prone to do, they have expressed a great distaste for having to do it this way and just be patient until the current project is finished since we are under a very strict deadline. Is there a way to set this up differently, or change some settings someplace, reinstall it, point a CName record for our domain website to the DynAccount (e.g. TFS.OurDomain.com points to TFS.DynAccount.Me, which consequently does allow access to the http site without issues), or something. I really don't feel like after all the time and effort I have spent into, first the cost, second the bloody install, third learning SharePoint well enough, fourth the hours into days spent on this, fifth more troubleshooting, sixth employee headaches to just let it lay where it is at. I figure in my spare/off time I would keep trying to get this to work. So I really appreciate any help any one can give me. I know this is probably something really stupid simple that I will 'Face Palm' over, but at the moment the stress and frustration just has me beat. Unable to Access Zend Server 5 CE after installation

I have previously installed WAMP on my windows, and now I am trying to install Zend Server 5 CE 5.3.1 Win x86. During the installation of Zend Server, there is a step asking about: web server port : 80 zend server interface port : 10081 I kept to the default. After the installation, I tried to access http://localhost,and is able to see zend test page. But I am unable to access http://localhost:10081/ZendServer, it was stated as page not found. Is it a conflict of my WAMP and the Zend Server? I remembered stopping the apache for WAMP, before trying to access ZS. Could anyone please advise me how to fix it? Thank you.
