  • tmux: Suddenly, cannot horizontally split

    As root, using a reasonably default .profile and .shrc and an empty tmux.conf, I am unable to split the window horizontally. There are a number of cases to consider so I'll list them clearly. Using the keybinding + empty configuration: nothing happens Using the keybinding + my configuration: a bell is generated, nothing else; occasionally, the split will appear and disappear immediately (maybe it always does this, but I'm connecting over ssh so it may not make it through) Using tmux split-window -h with any config: tmux immediately exits I've posted here in order the server and root's .profile and .shrc, tmux works perfectly. Occasionally (twice out of the 50 or so times I've tested it), the splitting will work fine once in a session. (This happened for example when I ran ktrace on tmux, which I can also post) To explain the 'suddenly' part of the title: when I started my newly updated mysql56-server, tmux immediately exited and lost the session. Recently I changed architectures, from FreeBSD 10.0 i386 to amd64, and I am still working through shared library incompatibilities. I suspect that this could be involved, but I can't imagine how an incompatibility of this sort could result in such a specific, isolated failure.

    Mac OS X Spaces change when I drag a window at the edge of the screen. Is there an application or 'defaults' command to disable this? Warp looks like it might help, but hasn't changed the behavior for me, even though I tried turning it off, or setting a modifier key.

  • GNU Screen: Remap mouse-wheel to active scroll back.

    I am using Screen with MinTTY at a bash prompt. Sometimes I want to activate scrollback and copy some stuff that was on the output. My first instinct is to scroll with the mouse, but all that happens is old bash commands start showing up (like when I press the up arrow). Is there a way to re-map the mouse wheel to: Go into scrollback mode, or If already in scrollback mode, start moving up in the scrollback window

    Is there a Firefox add-on that will allow someone to easily open up a page in a new tab or window so it will not share cookies and other session information with other windows?   • Outlook 2007 - slow loading messages

    Outlook 2007 is slow to load messages...Why is this, and what can I do to speed it up? Currently have about 850 messages in the Inbox folder, and the preview pane turned off, thus I view messages by double-clicking. This is where it gets slow, when I double click, it brings up a new window with everything but the actual message loaded, which then takes several more seconds to appear. Solutions? Thanks!   • Focus issues in OS X Spaces

    Spaces rarely returns focus to my last used window. Haven't been able to peg universally reproducible steps, but spend any time switching among spaces and windows and you'll come across this. It often happens with Finder windows. I'm thinking this is because Mac OS X treats Finder as a single app, so bringing Finder forward in one space brings it forward in all spaces. Extremely annoying! Anyone have a fix for this?

    I use the minimal "fast lightweight window manager" (fwlm) which doesn't have a system tray. I need a simple program to manage my WIFI and virtual private netwok connection --- and found the NetworkManager. The problem is that the NetworkManager is a system-tray icon: I cannot see it or click on it in my fwlm windows manager. Hence, I ask: Is there any way to start the NetworkManager directly without using the system tray?

If i type http://127.0.0.1 in my browser url, it works fine, but after typing: http://localhost, i will get a file download window, saying file type as: application/x-httpd-php And in my httpd.conf file, i have the following under VirtualHost *:80 definition: ServerName localhost DocumentRoot E:\zend\Apache2\htdocs\my_project\public Directory E:\zend\Apache2\htdocs\my_project\public Perhaps some configuration problem... can anyone guide me..

  • How to stop Vim from scrolling when splitting vertically

    The problem Somehow on this box every time I split a window (^W v or :vs) the original pane scrolls in such a way that my cursor is exactly scrolloff=5 from the top. I have tried to remove all ~/.vim* and /etc/vim* files but no dice. Even a aptitude purge vim followed by a rm -rf /usr/share/vim/ /etc/vim* didn't change anything.   • Strange behavior when changing default shell, and setting explorer.exe as winlogon shell for specific user

    I use a custom logon shell on a machine (windows 7) for security reasons - which works fine by altering HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\shell. However, I also want that the administrator will still be able to manage the machine, so I modified the user specific key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\shell back to explorer.exe - but when I log on I get a single windows explorer window, and not the full desktop. does any one know how to configure the normal desktop shell only to a specific user?
