  Based on the descriptions for both the Prefork and Worker MPM, it seems the prefork type is somewhat outdated, but I can't really find a proper comparison of the two types. What i'd like to know: What are the differences between the two versions? What are the (dis-)advantages of each server type? Are there any basic guidelines on which type to choose based on the conditions? Are there any big performance differences between the two?

• Does urandom share the same entropy of random?

  Does the entropy pool /dev/random used the same to /dev/urandom? I want to mknod /dev/random 1 9 to replace the slow random, I think the current entropy is randomly enough, if urandom is based on the same entropy, and all succeed random numbers are generated based on that entropy, I don't think there'll be any vulnerable.

• Custom settings with PHP on Nginx

  I have multiple websites setup using Nginx and Apache, but when I try to add a vhost based PHP directive using fastcgi_param PHP_VALUE , the value get added to all of my vhosts. Checking the value of the PHP parameter from PHP-CLI remain the actual one for whole server. e.g. I used fastcgi_param PHP_VALUE "memory_limit=512M" for a domain based nginx config, but it will be propagated to all domains on server. The 'php -i | grep memory_limit' show 128M though Not sure what I am missing

However, when I insert captions and cross references, the labels are in italian. For example Tabella instead of Table. • Is there a decent diagram of packet flow for a modern era (2.6+) iptables setup?

  I'm currently trying to debug a particularly hairy set of DNAT based iptables rules (the UDP reply never makes it back to the original requester) and I'm struggling to visualise the packet flow through all the numerous tables involved. So far Google'ing has shown me old 2.4 based ipchains ones. The netfilter site has some good text docs but is short on diagrams and a number of the external links are now dead. So is there a canonical diagram for iptables packet flow, preferably showing how NAT/Masqueraded packets are also dealt with?

There are several PHP based functions to see if the connection is still open, but none works (trust me, tested them all). Any creative ideas on how I can do this through the server maybe?

• Is it possible to change or override the default keyboard shortcuts in Finder?

  I would like to override the keyboard-shortcut for a particular built-in action in finder (OS X 10.6.7). An example would be to override the Cmd+N for a New Finder Window to some other action, say Open a blank Text document. I can create the service for opening a blank Text document in automator - and I can map a new keyboard shortcut for this - but the new keyboard shortcut will not override a default keyboard shortcut. I do not want to install any 3rd party applications (like QuickSilver).

  Hello, I have an XML document format from a legacy system that I have to support in a future application. I want to be able to both serialize and deserialize the XML between XML and C# objects, however, using the objects generated by xsd.exe, the C# serialization includes the xmlns:xsi..., xsi:... etc XML attributes on the root element of the document that gets generated. Is there anyway to disable this so that absolutely no XML attribute nodes get put out in the resulting XML ? The XML document should be elements only. Duplicate?   I am looking for the quickest and easiest way to combine two silverlight projects. Once has controls all in Silverlight XAML the other is template driven and uses a template based on a Silverlight resource dictionary. I am looking for some advice and resources on the best and quickest way to do this. One project is based on this: Silverlight Image Slider http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Image-slider-control-in-Silverlight-1.1.aspx the other project is based on this: Open Video Player http://www.openvideoplayer.com/ I need to move the slider into the player, but the player uses a template and I just don't get how to merge the two as I do not understand resource dictionaries as they are applied to the player. We have completely gutted and made each proiject do what we want, but heck if I can figure out how to combine them.

  Safari HTML Reference: Supported Attributes says: contenteditable If true, the element can be edited on the fly; if false, it cannot. Availability Available in Safari 1.2 and later. Available in iPhone OS 1.0 and later. However, on my iPhone, I can't get it to work. Anyone have success with this? You can try it with this document (admittedly not pure html, but that document works in desktop Safari, and Chrome and Firefox 3). I haven't been able to get even the simplest html document to be editable in mobile Safari.

• "not well-formed" warning when loading client-side JSON in Firefox via jQuery.ajax

  I am using jQuery's ajax method to acquire a static JSON file. The data is loaded from the local file system, hence there is no server, so I can't change the mime type. This works fin in Safari, but Firefox (3.6.3) reports the file to be "not well-formed".   I am downloading a file from the server/database via aspx page. When using the content-disposition inline the document opens in correct application but the file name is the same as the web page. I want the document to open in say MS Word but with the correct file name.   Hi All, I'm switching from v2 to v3 google maps api and got a problem with gMap.getBounds() function. I need to get the bounds of my map after its initialization. I've tryed to get getBounds values in click event and it works fine for me, but I cannot get the same results in load map event. Also getBounds works fine while document is loading in Google Maps API v2, but it fails in V3. Could you please help me to solve this problem?

  I have a tab-based iPhone app where I want to increase the perceived start-up speed with a launch image. As defined by the iPhone HIG, the launch image is a screenshot of your app (called Default.png) that is displayed immediately and looks very similar to the app's first screen (e.g., the screenshot of an empty table when the app displays a table first). Now the problem with a tab-based app is that users can rearrange the order of tabs so that any of the tabs may be the first tab to show upon launch. I think I read somewhere that you can't change the Default.png programmatically in your app, but I couldn't find that in the HIG (and the "Clock" app seems to do exactly that - having one launch image per tab). So, how do provide a launch image for a tab-based app?

• Webkit and Safari fire mousemove even when mouse doesn't move

  I've read about issues where the mousemove event is fired twice in Safari/Webkit, but the problem I'm facing is that mousemove fires even when the mouse is not moved. That is: it already fires when the mouse cursor is positioned above the context that the event is attached to when the page is loaded/refreshed. And because I'm attaching it to 'document' (entire viewport of the browser), it fires right away in Safari. I've tried to attach it to to html element, to the body and to a wrapper div. No change. $(document).bind('mousemove', function() { alert('Mouse moved!'); $(document).unbind('mousemove'); }); Is does work ok in other browsers. Anyone seeing what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

• Download HTML and Images with WGet without first few lines

  I'm attempting to use wget with the -p option to download specific documents and the images linked in the HTML. The problem is, the site that is hosting the HTML has some non-html information preceding the HTML. This is causing wget to not interpret the document as HTML and doesn't search for images. • What AMF Servers Support Remote Shared Objects?

  Greetings. I'm planning on building a Flex based multiplayer game, and I'm researching what will be required for the server end. I have PHP experience, so I started looking at ZendAMF. Now in this game, I'll need the concept of rooms, and real time updates to clients in those rooms, so it looks like I'll be using remote shared objects (correct, yes?). I'm not seeing where ZendAMF can support this. So I found this page: http://arunbluebrain.wordpress.com/2009/03/04/flex-frameworks-httpcorlanorg/ It seems to indicate that ZendAMF isn't going to do what I want. WebORB for PHP seems to be the only PHP based solution that does messaging, but on that page it doesn't mention "real-time" next to it like the Java based ones below it do. What should I be looking at for the server piece with my requirements? Do I need to make the jump to something like BlazeDS and try to pick up a bit of Java knowledge? Thanks.

• What documentation is helpful when supporting an application?

  I am going to be taking over from a developer here at work soon. Hence, I'll be supporting all the applications that he has written over the last few years. My question is, when supporting an application that you probably don't know much about, what kind of documentation is most helpful to get a handle on how to fix problems, extend functionality, modify functionality, etc? I'm thinking it would need to give you an overview of what the software does, what interfaces it has to other software, what databases it uses, usernames, passwords, and so on. Is there such a thing as a software support document? Referrals to any templates would be most helpful. BTW, unfortunately, there are no requirements documents, specs, etc! So, really my question is, if my colleague had a day to write a single document for each application so that I could (more easily) support it, what would that document be and/or what would it look like?
