  • Anybody have experience with using Nexenta?

    - by churnd
I'm evaluating the Nexenta platform to hopefully one day replace our legacy file servers. I would primarily use it as a CIFS server in an Active Directory environment. Anyone out there have any experience using it? Good? Bad? Which hardware vendor did you go with? Why? Did you build your own (Supermicro) or go prebuilt?

  • OSX Server & Client NFS "timeout" issues?

    - by user36659

Everything works fine with one small exception, the NFS mount seems to timeout/dropout every now and then it seems random and requires a reboot to bring it back up? Has anyone else ran into this situation? Any fix would be appreciated.

  • SQL server 2008 R2 installation error

    - by Sonia
I have a windows 7,32 bit laptop. I am the administrator with all permissions. when I click on the SQL server 2008R2 set up file,it says : "SQL server set up has encountered the following error:Failed to retreive data for this request" click on OK. • Setting up a very mixed Active Directory network to work with PowerShell Remote Administration

    - by erictheavg
Summary: I want to be able to monitor the computers on my network, but don't need it to be automated. We're too small to purchase anything like MOM, but too big to do anything manually (~100 machines in two locations). I just keep running into issues, and was wondering if there's a master list of Group Policy settings I can distribute to my environment to get Remote Powershell working. Environment: Our AD network is pretty mixed. The end users have XP SP3, Win 7, and Win 7 x64. The servers include Win2k3 SP2, Win2k8, Win2k8 x64, Win2k8 R2, and Win2k8 R2 x64. Details: I'm trying to get it to work with Remote Powershell, but I run into errors like the following: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cannot process the request. Default authentication may be used with an IP address under the following conditions: the transport is HTTPS or the destination is in the TrustedHosts list, and explicit credentials are provided. Use winrm.cmd to configure TrustedHosts. Note that computers in the TrustedHosts list might not be authenticated. For more information on how to set TrustedHosts run the following command: winrm help config. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. + CategoryInfo : OpenError: (:) [], PSRemotingTransportException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PSSessionStateBroken Then I go to the computer (Win2k3 SP2 server) and run winrm quickconfig per the recommendations via google, and it says: Make these changes [y/n]? y WinRM has been updated to receive requests. WinRM service started. WSManFault Message = The client cannot connect to the destination specified in the request. Verify that the service on the destination is running and is accepting requests. Consult the logs and documentation for the WS-Management service running on the destination, most commonly IIS or WinRM. If the destination is the WinRM service, run the following command on the destination to analyze and configure the WinRM service: "winrm quickconfig". Error number: -2144108526 0x80338012 The client cannot connect to the destination specified in the request. That's right. It tells me to remedy my winrm quickconfig failure by running winrm quickconfig. I don't want to band-aid this project one google search at a time. I'm sure there is a step-by-step tutorial out there on how to set up a network for powershell remote administration. Does anyone know of one? Books are acceptable. Thanks in advance! I didn't think my question would get this long.

Can somebody guide us about it. Thanks upfront Kabir

  • Set up heads up for two people

    - by Brian M. Hunt
Is there a way to set up a Mac or Linux so that one can connect two mice and two keyboards with both users having independent input on the screen with their respective mice and keyboards? I'd like to set up an environment for pairwise programming, and in particular have two developers be able to concurrently edit different documents on the same computer screen, but each person having different keyboards and mice. I'd be much obliged for any input and direction.

  • How to explore the local active directory ?

    - by Quandary
Question: On Windows7, how can I explore the local active directory ? I mean getting all directory entries I would see when I execute this code: Dim AD As New System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry("WinNT://" + Environment.MachineName & ",computer") I have found a systernals tool, called activedirectory explorer, (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963907.aspx) and I run it as complete administrator (root), but it always says "server not working/running". But the server obviously works, since I can query it from .net... and it's definitely local, since I plugged the network connection

  • MySQL 5.5 (Percona) assertion failure log.. what would cause this?

    - by Tom Geee
256GB, 64 Core , AMD running Ubuntu 12.04 with Percona MySQL 5.5.28. Below is the assertion failure. We just had a second assertion failure (different "in file", position, etc) while running a large set of inserts. After the first failure, MySQL restarted after a reboot only - after continuously looping on the same error after trying to recover. I decided to do a mysqlcheck with -o for optimize. Since these are all Innodb tables (very large tables, 60+GB) this would do an alter table on all tables. In the middle of this , the below assertion failure happened again: 121115 22:30:31 InnoDB: Assertion failure in thread 140086589445888 in file btr0pcur.c line 452 InnoDB: Failing assertion: btr_page_get_prev(next_page, mtr) == buf_block_get_page_no(btr_pcur_get_block(cursor)) InnoDB: We intentionally generate a memory trap. InnoDB: Submit a detailed bug report to http://bugs.mysql.com. InnoDB: If you get repeated assertion failures or crashes, even InnoDB: immediately after the mysqld startup, there may be InnoDB: corruption in the InnoDB tablespace. Please refer to InnoDB: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/forcing-innodb-recovery.html InnoDB: about forcing recovery. 03:30:31 UTC - mysqld got signal 6 ; This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built, or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware. We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help diagnose the problem, but since we have already crashed, something is definitely wrong and this may fail. • Getting Squid to authenticate with kerberos and Windows 2008/2003/7/XP

    - by Harley
This is something I setup recently and was quite a big pain. My environment was getting squid to authenticate a Windows 7 client against a Windows 2008 Server invisibly. NTLM is not really an option, as using it requires a registry change on each client. MS have been recommending Kerberos since Windows 2000, so it's finally time to get with the program. Many, many thanks to Markus Moeller of the Squid mailing lists for helping to get this working.

  • Adding to App Paths for 'Run' as a non-admin

    - by Cooper
Is there a way to add a new App Path (for adding commands to Start-Run) without needing Admin? With admin, you can add an App Path to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths. I tried adding one under HKCU with no effect. I've added a new (user-writable) location to my user's PATH environment variable which lets me launch things from Start-Run, but the nerd in me still wants to know about the App Paths.

  • Is VirtualBox really slow compared to the host OS? (for Ruby development)

    - by dan
I have VirtualBox running Ubuntu as a guest environment on my Macbook Pro running Leopard OS X 10.5. I timed the same batch of Ruby on Rails unit tests on both systems. The difference seems to be quite big. The same suite of Ruby unit tests that take 13.4 seconds in the native OS X, take 82 seconds to run in VirtualBox Ubuntu. Are other people doing the same kind of development noticing the same differences?

  • How to declutter and organize the cables on and under my desk?

    - by splattne
Computer cables and external devices are a continuous source of frustration for everybody who likes a clean working environment. The more devices you add to your home office, the more disastrous the situation under the table becomes: cords falling behind the desk, ugly cables running along the sides and under of the desk, making it almost impossible to clean and remove the dust. This is not my office, but I've seen similar "setups:" I'm looking for good tips/products which help me in keeping the all cables somehow under control and organized. Thanks!

In production the configuration is not using mod_jk but mod_proxy_ajp. I'm looking for an apache configuration example that configure ssl and mod_proxy_ajp for sending the ssl client certificate to the java application server (which listens with the ajp protocol). Thanks a lot
