• How does the VS XAML designer know what to auto-populate certain values with?

  <Button Name="MyButton" Content="Test" FontStyle="Italic" /> In the above XAML definition of a button, the FontStyle property is set to Italic. The designer is somehow able to populate a list for me to choose from when I hit the = sign. How is this achieved? Before you answer, consider that the FontStyle property is, appropriately enough, of type FontStyle (which is a struct). It's not an enumeration, which would be trivial for VS to list out at design time, so how are the valid list of options chosen to be displayed? There is also a completely separate FontStyles class which contains three static fields, Italic, Normal, and Oblique which just so happen to be the three items VS provides in the drop down list. Is there some mapping going on behind the scenes between the FontStyle struct and FontStyles class, because I've looked in many places in both the object browser and in .NET Reflector and couldn't determine anything from either.   I need to make a DirectX or OpenGL app and i will need a custom GUI for that. I think a button, a input text box, a list box (that will need a scroll bar as there will be more items that can fit on the screen) and a slider control will be enough. I know about CeGUI framework but i just don't like it, way too many XML files for my taste. My question is where should i start in learning how to do this custom GUI controls, are there any tutorial available or any material that could get me started? I haven't done a GUI contol myself before.

• Jquery counting elements by class what is the best way to implement this?

  Ok what i'm trying to do is to count all of the elements in the current page with the same class and then i'm going to use it to be added onto a name for a input form. Basically i'm allowing users to click on an and then by doing so add another one for more of the same type of items. But i can't think of a way to count all of these simply with jquery/javascript. I was going to then name the item as something like name="whatever(total+1)", if anyone has a simple way to do this i'd be extremely grateful as javascript isn't exactly my native tongue and stack overflow usually has a ton of great answers and a great community so i'm hoping my query will not go unheard.

• UIPickerView and empty core data array

  I have a viewcontroller showing items from a core data entity. I also have a tableview listing records from the same entity. The table is editable, and the user could remove all the records. When this happens, the view controller holding the pickerview bombs because it's looking for records in an empty array. How to prevent this? • Jquery - Convert ascii chars back to HTML

  I am reading data from an html file to load into a div. The problem I am having is, the program that writes the html files is converting to <br /> SO when I execute $('#items').load('/News/list.aspx'); it displays as a string on my page instead of reading it as a page break. I have tried to read the above file into a variable to do a string replace on the <br /> but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

• Adding a textblock to a custom wpf control (piepiece control from codeplex)

  Hi Stackoverflow! I'm currently building a Surface application where the main navigation is a circular menu. For each menu item I'm using a custom control that I found on codeproject.com: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/PieChartDataBinding.aspx (PiePiece control) The number of submenu items (which is also piepiece controls) comes from a database and thus dynamically loaded. What I can't figure out is how I add a textblock to this custom control to display the submenu item text. It needs to follow the PiePiece's RotationAngle property to line up correctly. Anyone got a hot-fix for this? I was thinking about adding another dependencyproperty to the piepiece custom control, but that way I can't set the font-family, size etc (can I?) Any input on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

• Can I write functors using a private nested struct?

  Given this class: class C { private: struct Foo { int key1, key2, value; }; std::vector<Foo> fooList; }; The idea here is that fooList can be indexed by either key1 or key2 of the Foo struct. I'm trying to write functors to pass to std::find so I can look up items in fooList by each key. But I can't get them to compile because Foo is private within the class (it's not part of C's interface). Is there a way to do this without exposing Foo to the rest of the world? (note: I've got to run to a meeting. I'll be able to post more sample code in about a half hour.)

  At the end of my Python program, I'd like to be able to get a summary of the number of items logged through the standard logging module. I'd specifically like to be able to get a count for each specified name (and possibly its children). E.g. if I have: input_logger = getLogger('input') input_logger.debug("got input1") input_logger.debug("got input2") input_logger.debug("got input3") network_input_logger = getLogger('input.network') network_input_logger.debug("got network input1") network_input_logger.debug("got network input2") getLogger('output') output_logger.debug("sent output1") Then at the end I'd like to get a summary such as: input: 5 input.network: 2 output: 1 Perhaps by calling a getcount() method for a logger or a handler. What would be a good way to achieve this? I imagine it would involve a sub-class of one of the logging classes, but I'm not sure which one would be best.

  Hi, Hoping someone can assist or point me in the right direction to another thread/url with regards to disabled checkboxes. I basically have a couple of checkboxes in my form, that are not database items but am retrieving the source value based on a database column. As I do not want the user to be able to change these checboxes, I have disabled these checboxes When I query a record, the form at start-up retrieves the value for the checkbox with no issues. The problem is, when I hit a validation error on my form when the page is submitted, my checkbox values that were originally retrieved as 'Y', i.e checked are now null. Can anyone pls assist with what is going on or a workaround inorder to maintain these values when a validation error occurs. Thanks.

• Context menu for loaded SWF

  I have a Flex app with a viewport that loads a series of other swfs. I would like to place a context menu over top of the SWFs when the user right-clicks. To that end, I have set up a fairly standard context menu where each item has a ContextMenuEvent.MENU_ITEM_SELECT event handler. One problem: The eventHandler never gets called. If I place the context-menu code anywhere else in the app, i.e. not on top of a loaded SWF, everything works fine. However, when I place the exact same code on the SWF viewport, the context menu items appear, but the eventHandlers are never called. Any ideas?

  I am using jQuery Autocomplete on my jQUeryMobile application. It works perfect. Now I'm trying to use iScroll.js to scroll through the list of looked up items.
