  • start session on page_load in vb.net

    i have 1 master page with 5 pages that call it. now on the master page, I have few dropdowns and textboxes, and the calling pages only have a small article in the corner. I want to start a session on page_load event, so that if the user chooses to select a dropdown or put data in textbox, even if he clicks on the other 4 links of other pages, the data should stay. how can this be done?

  • trouble in using flalign (LaTeX)

    I am trying to put 3 equations with "=" signs aligned but also left aligned. I tried the following: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{amsmath} \begin{document} \begin{flalign*} RPC &= A+B\tilde{f} +C x &\ A &= a+\eta &\ E &= cte & \end{flalign*} \end{document} With this I get the stuff in the left and the "=" signs aligned. However, I also need A (in the second equation) and E (in the third equation) to be aligned to the R (in the first one) Does anyone know how to get it? thanks

I am trying to do something like the following, and would like to avoid a temporary table, but the subquery will be drawn from a much larger dataset so it makes sense to only do it once.. Why this multipart/x-mixed-replace is necessary? Without this header, HTTP response can still be chunked and sent piece by piece to browser, right?

    Two (hopefully quick) questions about LaTeX: How do you number select functions? I'm working in a documentclass{article}, if that matters. I want to have certain functions numbered such as function1 function2 (1) function3 function4 (2) How do you make a sign to evaluate an integral? I know how to do brackets, but is it possible to only make one straight light to the right of the function with the bounds of integration? I can't figure out how to do that.

    When using the beamer documentclass, it looks like the third level of nested input is ignored: \documentclass{beamer} \input{body} body.tex: \begin{document} \input{file1} \input{file2} \end{document} file2.tex: \input{file21} The content of file21.tex is ignored with documentclass beamer, but correctly inserted if I use a documentclass article, for example. Has anyone seen something like this?

    I'm starting a 2D browser multiplayer game consisting of a city with many kinds of transports (metro, buses, tunnels), players using those transports and having some interaction between them. I have started the client side in Actionscript, server side in PHP (but now i'm moving to Java) and persistence in MySQL. Which socket server (non commercial) will be preferable, RedDwarf (former DarkStar), Red5, ... ? Those servers are Flash Remoting (AMF) capable ? Those servers manage all the object's game persistence? Then there's no need to create a database ?

    I have a Person model and an Address Model: class Person < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :address accepts_nested_attributes_for :address end class Address < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :person end In my people controller I have @person.build_address in my new action. My forms builds correctly. The problem is that when I submit the form, a person record and an address record is created but they aren't linked via the address_id column in the Person table. Once I read an MSDN article that encouraged the following programming paradigm: public class MyClass { public void Method1() { NewCustomException(); } public void Method2() { NewCustomException(); } void NewCustomException() { throw new CustomException("Exception message"); } } Do you think this paradigm makes sense? Wouldn't it be enough to store the exception message in a static const field and then pass it to the exception's constructor, instead of encapsulating the whole exception throw?

It is trivial to do for the oledb connection string as described here: MSDN Article on MSDASC.DataLinks().Prompt I've also found examples that use Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI.dll and MicrosoftData.ConnectionUI.Dialog.dll from VS (HOWTO: Using the Choose Data Source dialog of Visual Studio 2005 from your own code). Unfortunately these DLLs are not licensed for redistribution. Is there a standard dialog for choosing a data source that can be distributed with my application?

    I am generating some Xaml based on some other source of input. In some cases I am generating x:Name values but they have invalid characters. I found this article on MSDN: XamlName Grammar Which describes the grammar of a x:Name tag but doesn't tell me how to actually apply this. Clearly there is some code to validate this name at runtime but what is the easiest way to actually fix up a string with invalid characters?

  • Question about [literally] mapping location based on an IP address.

    I've been bored lately and I want to start a new project. I was looking at a website mentioned in a different question (http://www.grapevinegame.com/), and I thought the map and how it plots a point based on someone's IP (I assume) is pretty nifty. I want to do something like that, but I have no idea how it's done. I know you can get latitude and longitude, city and state, and some more with some already-written scripts, but how would you plot those on a map of the world? I've seen it other places, like Google Analytics and such, as well. It seems like a neat thing to be able to do, so I was just wondering how exactly it works. :-p.

To avoid being subjective or argumentative, I'd like answers which can name specific companies or open-source projects which have this requirement.
