I was hoping to either change the image the Graphic is an instance of or change the Graphic I am using in the current frame.     I have coded an Android application composed by a LinearLayout(with an editbox and a button) and a ScrollView(with a LinearLayout that contains a TextView). When the app is started the keyboard pops up immediatly and I don't want this to happen. Have you got some advice??   • What should a developer know before building a public web site?

    What things should a programmer implementing the technical details of a web site address before making the site public? If Jeff Atwood can forget about HttpOnly cookies, sitemaps, and cross-site request forgeries all in the same site, what important thing could I be forgetting as well? I'm thinking about this from a web developer's perspective, such that someone else is creating the actual design and content for the site. So while usability and content may be more important than the platform, you the programmer have little say in that. What you do need to worry about is that your implementation of the platform is stable, performs well, is secure, and meets any other business goals (like not cost too much, take too long to build, and rank as well with Google as the content supports). Think of this from the perspective of a developer who's done some work for intranet-type applications in a fairly trusted environment, and is about to have his first shot and putting out a potentially popular site for the entire big bad world wide web. Also: I'm looking for something more specific than just a vague "web standards" response. I mean, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS over HTTP are pretty much a given, especially when I've already specified that you're a professional web developer. So going beyond that, Which standards? In what circumstances, and why? Provide a link to the standard's specification. This question is community wiki, so please feel free to edit that answer to add links to good articles that will help explain or teach each particular point.

    I've placed the players in "sites/all/libraries/" but I'm still getting this message when I go to admin/settings/swftools/handling, "FlexPaper - Missing sites/all/libraries/flexpaper/FlexPaperViewer.swf" Anyone having the same issue? On a side note when I setup the swftools profile and then assign the CCK formater and then goto the page to view the swf I get this message: "No modules have registered the action swf_list.   • What headaches should I expect from using Trac?

    No tool is perfect, and I'm about to start several long-term projects using Trac, and wanted a heads up of the kinds of problems I may or may not experience with it. In other words, Trac meets my needs in the short term, and I've already made the decision to use it, but I want to know what to expect down the road. I am not looking for: "Use product X instead of Trac because..." answers. "Trac is great because..." answers. A comparison to any other specific system. "Trac doesn't support Feature X" answers. I can read the feature list too, thank you very much. I am looking for: "Feature X does not behave as expected..." "Trac behaves oddly when..." "Trac doesn't fully support..." "Trac itself has a known bug that will likely never be fixed..." And especially "Trac can't handle..." etc So, what Trac-induced headaches do I have to look forward to? For future reference, this question was asked while Trac v0.11 was the latest stable release.

  • Setting column length of a Long value with JPA annotations

    Hi, I'm performing a little database optimisation at the moment and would like to set the column lengths in my table through JPA. So far I have no problem setting the String (varchar) lengths using JPA as follows: @Column(unique=true, nullable=false, length=99) public String getEmail() { return email; } However, when I want to do the same for a column which is of type Long (bigint), it doesn't work. For example, if I write: @Id @Column(length=7) @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) public Long getId() { return id; } The column size is still set as the default of 20. Are we able to set these lengths in JPA or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks, Gearoid.

  • JPopupMenu returning a null?

    Ok so I'm working on an Eclipse plugin based on the JGraph example. The problem is I can't really get the "save" method to work, here's how the program works in short: - I have a DiagramEditor class with an init() method, where I create a GraphEditor object and call the createFrame() methord of that object. - GraphEditor extends the BasicGraphEditor (which extends JPanel), the createFrame() method returns a JFrame and has a line "frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar)" - the "menuBar" is an object variable, which is initialized in the BasicGraphEditor. Till here everything is cool, the problem is with the action listener which is supposed to save a file. To get the graph I need to get the GraphEditor component, so I do a Component component = (Component) e.getSource() whitch is the ActionEvent passed to that action listener and at that stage is the JMenuItem "save", then I get the parent which is the JPopupMenu, then I want to get that JPopupMenu's parent which should be the GraphEdiotor, but instead I get a null. Any idea why?     EDIT: i just deleted the entire post and reformulated the question to be more generic. I want to do a simple strategy game: map, units. Map: one class. Units: another class, self drawn. Simple questions: How does an unit should redraw itself on the map. A unit should be a JPanel or similar Swing component (just to be able to manage them as an entity with its own mousehandlers) or can be another thing, without neglecting the fact that it should be an autonomous object with its own action handlers and fields. Is this map-units model correct of a simple game that would help me to learn in a fun way Java and OOP fundamentals. Thats it!

  • Scroll an input box to the cursor position in javascript

    I've written a simple JS function that places the cursor at the end of the contents of an input box when it receives focus (the most common action in the box being to append). I haven't checked in IE, but when there is more text than is visible, even moving the cursor to the end of input doesn't scroll the view to the end of input in firefox 3.6. Any idea how to do this? P.S. And no I'm not using JQuery, nor is it an option ;)
