    I need to create about 80 Word documents that are identical except for a numerical identifier in the document. The identifier is the same as the document filename, eg. the document named "SN-100.doc" must have the string "SN-100" inside the document text. Each unique document will reside in a folder location given by its unique numerical identifier.For example, the file directory hierarchy will look something like this: /SN001/SN-1.doc /SN002/SN-2.doc . . . /SN080/SN-80.doc What is the easiest and fastest method of doing this?

  • touchend event doesn't work on Android

    Hi, I've just started looking at doing some basic mobile web development on the android and an writing a test script to investigate the touch events. I've run the following code in the android emulator, and the touchend event never gets fired. Can anyone tell me why ? I've tried in three versions of the emulator (1.6, 2.1 and 2.2) and all three behave in the same way. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I'm still pretty new with mvc but was using this tutorial The application builds fine.. however when I try to add a controller using Product (BTD.Data) as my model class and BTDContext (BTD.DataContext) as my data context class I receive the following error: Unable to retrieve metadata for BTD.Data.Product using the same DbCompiledModel to create context against different types of database servers is not supported. Instead, create a separate DbCompiledModel for each type of server being used. I am at a complete loss - I've scoured google with almost every different variation of that error message above I can think of but to no avail. Here are the things i can verify... Also note - i'm using Entityframework from Nuget... Another Note I was using the default visual studio template that creates your MVC project with the account pages and other stuff. I JUST removed all references to the added files because they were trying to use the "DefaultConnection" which didn't exist - so i thought those files may be what was causing the error - however still no luck after removing them - I just wanted to let everyone know i'm using the visual studio MVC project template which pre-creates a bunch of files. I will be trying to recreate this all from a blank MVC project which doesn't have those files - i will update this once i test that Other References It appears someone else is having the same issues I am - the only difference is they are using sql server - I tried tweaking all my code to follow the suggestions on this stackoverflow question/answer here but still to no avail

  • Resizing Images In a Table Using JavaScript

    Hey, all. I apologize beforehand if none of this makes sense, or if I sound incompetent... I've been making webpages for a while, but don't know any JavaScript. I am trying to make a webpage for a friend, and he requested if I could write some code to resize the images in the page based on the user's screen resolution. I did some research on this question, and it's kind of similar to this, this, and this. Unfortunately, those articles didn't answer my question entirely because none of the methods described worked. Right now, I have a three-column webpage with 10 images in a table in the left sidebar, and when I use percentages for their sizes, they don't resize right between monitors. As such, I'm trying to write a JavaScript function that changes their sizes after detecting the screen resolution. The code is stripped from my post if I put it all, so I'll just say that each image links to a website and uses a separate image to change color when you hover over it. Would I have to address both images to change their sizes correctly? I use a JavaScript function to switch between them. Anyway, I tried both methods in this article and neither worked for me. If it helps, I'm using Google Chrome, but I'm trying to make this page as cross-browser as possible.   • Silverlight/Web Service Serializing Interface for use Client Side

    I have a Silverlight solution that references a third-party web service. This web service generates XML, which is then processed into objects for use in Silverlight binding. At one point we the processing of XML to objects was done client-side, but we ran into performance issues and decided to move this processing to the proxies in the hosting web project to improve performance (which it did). This is obviously a gross over-simplification, but should work. My basic project structure looks like this. Solution Solution.Web - Holds the web page that hosts Silverlight as well as proxies that access web services and processes as required and obviously the references to those web services). Solution.Infrastructure - Holds references to the proxy web services in the .Web project, all genned code from serialized objects from those proxies and code around those objects that need to be client-side. Solution.Book - The particular project that uses the objects in question after processed down into Infrastructure. I've defined the following Interface and Class in the Web project. Notice that IndexEntry implments INavigable. When the code for IndexEntry is auto-genned in the Infrastructure project, the definition of the class does not include the implmentation of INavigable. After discovering this, I thought "no problem, I'll create another partial class file reiterating the implmentation". Unfortunately (I'm guessing because it isn't being serialized), that interface isn't recognized in the Infrastructure project, so I can't simply do that. Here's where it gets really weird. The BOOK project CAN see the INavigable interface. In fact I use it in Book, though Book has no reference to the Web Service in the Web project where the thing is define, though Infrastructure does. Just as a test, I linked to the INavigable source file from indside the Infrastructure project. That allowed me to reference it in that project and compile, but causes havoc in the Book project, because now there's a conflick between the one define in Infrastructure and the one defined in the Web project's web service. This is behavior I would expect. So, to try and sum up a bit. Web project has a web service that process data from a third-party service and has a class and interface defined in it. The class implements the interface. The Infrastructure project references the web service in the Web Project and the Book project references the Infrastructure project. The implmentation of the interface in the class does NOT serialize down, so the auto-genned code in INfrastructure does not show this relationship, breaking code further down-stream. The Book project, whihc is further down-stream CAN see the interface as defined in the Web Project, even though its only reference is through the Infrastructure project; whihc CAN'T see it. Am I simple missing something easy here? Can I apply an attribute to either the Interface definition or to the its implmentation in the class to ensure its visibility downstream? Anything else I can do here? I know this is a bit convoluted and anyone still with me here, thanks for your patience and any advice you might have. Cheers, Steve

  • XDocument + IEnumerable is causing out of memory exception in System.Xml.Linq.dll

    Basically I have a program which, when it starts loads a list of files (as FileInfo) and for each file in the list it loads a XML document (as XDocument). The program then reads data out of it into a container class (storing as IEnumerables), at which point the XDocument goes out of scope. The program then exports the data from the container class to a database. After the export the container class goes out of scope, however, the garbage collector isn't clearing up the container class which, because its storing as IEnumerable, seems to lead to the XDocument staying in memory (Not sure if this is the reason but the task manager is showing the memory from the XDocument isn't being freed). As the program is looping through multiple files eventually the program is throwing a out of memory exception. To mitigate this ive ended up using System.GC.Collect(); to force the garbage collector to run after the container goes out of scope. this is working but my questions are: Is this the right thing to do? (Forcing the garbage collector to run seems a bit odd) Is there a better way to make sure the XDocument memory is being disposed? Could there be a different reason, other than the IEnumerable, that the document memory isnt being freed? Thanks.   • load search results into a div that toggles with other divs

    I am working with a page that has multiple divs that toggle. This function works. A search function was added and this works too. The problem with the page as it exists currently: The search bar was placed on the "default" div and the results load below the bar into another div that is invisible when empty. The results div is inside this first default div. If you toggle to another div, you lose the default div and can't get back to it. For this reason, I moved the search bar to the left navigation where the other toggle links are situated. I also moved the search results div out of the default div to "stand on its own." What I am trying to do: Make the search button show the div with the results as well as find the results. Basically, to integrate the search function into the array/toggle function. The search function is in one .js file and the toggle function is in a different .js file. I keep thinking there must be a way to get "onclick" to call from both .js files so that I don't have to do a bunch of extra work combining the two functions that already exist and work separately. I am a Javascript newbie learning by examples and haven't been able to figure this out. I have never seen a working example of this and my searches haven't produced one. I would be very grateful for any help. Hope I explained the problem adequately.     For a WPF application being developed in VS 2012 (Ultimate), the application runs fine when a particular project's code analysis is disabled. Enabling it results in the error above. This was working fine until recently (i.e. running with code analysis enabled for the particular project) and the only recent change I can think of is removing NHibernate Profiler (using NuGet). Will be grateful for any pointers on how to debug this, or to see a more detailed log/error message.

    I searched, but surprisingly couldn't find an answer. I have a long NSString that I want to shorten. I want the maximum length to be around 20 characters. I read somewhere that the best solution is to use substringWithRange. Is this the best way to truncate a string? NSRange stringRange = {0,20}; NSString *myString = @"This is a string, it's a very long string, it's a very long string indeed"; NSString *shortString = [myString substringWithRange:stringRange]; It seems a little delicate (crashes if the string is shorter than the maximum length). I'm also not sure if it's Unicode-safe. Is there a better way to do it? Does anyone have a nice category for this?

The thing is the navbar is defined at the masterpage and when you click a menuitem you are redirected to the corresponding child page so how would you do to change the navbar active item consecuently without replicating the logic in each child page? (Preferably without session variables and javascript only at master page)

    After asking a question about sending “304 Not Modified” for images stored in the in the Google App Engine datastore, I now have a question about Cache-Control. My app now sends Last-Modified and Etag, but by default GAE alsto sends Cache-Control: no-cache. According to this page: The “no-cache” directive, according to the RFC, tells the browser that it should revalidate with the server before serving the page from the cache. [...] In practice, IE and Firefox have started treating the no-cache directive as if it instructs the browser not to even cache the page. As I DO want browsers to cache the image, I've added the following line to my code: self.response.headers['Cache-Control'] = "public" According to the same page as before: The “cache-control: public” directive [...] tells the browser and proxies [...] that the page may be cached. This is good for non-sensitive pages, as caching improves performance. The question is if this could be harmful to the application in some way? Would it be best to send Cache-Control: must-revalidate to "force" the browser to revalidate (I suppose that is the behavior that was originally the reason behind sending Cache-Control: no-cache) This directive insists that the browser must revalidate the page against the server before serving it from cache. Note that it implicitly lets the browser cache the page.

  • MMC Snapin development: 'MMC not responding' - Is there a timeout that can be set for debugging?

    So I'm writing a snapin for MMC 3. Quite often I have the debugger attached and I'm stepping through some code. MMC has some kind of a fail safe for misbehaving snapins that automatically unloads them after a timeout. The message is 'This snap-in is not responding'. After that MMC can behave as though your snap-in has been unloaded. fair enough, it's not responding because I'm stepping through the debugger. However, the timeout is very small for development. Does anyone know of a way of increasing the timeout? I googled and couldn't find anything. Checking the MMC registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MMC and couldn't see anything there. I also checked the snap-in registry location under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MMC\SnapIns. No luck. I feel like there must be a way of increasing the timeout as this is something the devs as Microsoft must have encountered this problem.
