If I enable wireless, I am not able to access internet, it tries to access via eth1 and I get 404 page of the wireless router. Why does eth1 have higher preference though default is eth0 (link)?   • Can I use nofollow for offsite links without it affecting my page rank?

    What I have is a page with almost all offsite links. Each clicked link is forwarded on to the destination. What I would like the search engines to do is to index the text between the anchor tag and not follow the link itself. <a href="somelink">Index This Text Only</a> I've read several articles and they all seem to contradict themselves as to when to use nofollow. What's been happening over the past 2 months that the site has been live is that both Google and Bing are crawling the site as well as all the links on the site that it has been forwarded to. The search engines are now generating a lot of 404s for images and files that never existed on my site but rather seems to correlate to the site it was forwarded to. The search engines don't seem to honor the 302 header when forwarded. I would like to get a definitive answer on the nofollow tag as it relates to my situation. Can I use nofollow to stop the 404s and if so, will it affect my page ranking negatively?

  • Gave a talk at SoCal Code Camp at USC today titled “Linq to Objects A-Z”

    I gave a talk at SoCal Code Camp on Linq to Objects. With careful categorization of Linq functions, I was able to cover the entire set of Linq functions in only 35 minutes. I was able to spend the rest time on demos. In my first demo, I show I was able to write a top 20 URL type of query using 4 lines of library code and 9 line of Linq code without tools like Log Parser. I also demonstrated that I only need to change 2 lines of code from querying a single log file to a whole directory of log files. It would be as simple to run the query against multiple servers in parallel. In my second demo, I discussed how to turn into graph depth-first-search (DFS) and breath-first-search (BFS) in the a Linq queryable problem. The class LingToGraph contains the only DFS and BFS code I ever have to write; the rest could be done the the lambda passed to the DFS or BFS calls.     I've set up a WordPress multi-site with a wildcard ssl for example.com to access the admin area securely. However I'm also using domain mapping to map other domains to other sites e.g. alldogs.com to alldogs.example.com. The problem is when I'm trying to access the front end of a site from and admin for a mapped domain e.g. alldogs.com by clicking "Visit Site" the Link goes to https://alldogs.com because of the forced ssl applied to the admin area. Which produces a certificate warning since the certificate is for example.com and not alldogs.com. How can write a mod_rewrite rule to determine if the url/link clicked on is not the main domain e.g. example.com then change the https:// to http:// so the site can be accessed via port 80 and not generate a certificate warning for that mapped domains

  • wget recursively with -np option still ascends to parent directory

    tl;dr: will `wget --no-parrent -r ' download from a directory above the given url's directory? when using wget to download, say images, recursively from example.com/a/b with the -r and -np options, will a picture that is under example.com/a/c/ be downloaded when example.com/a/b/ delivers a html-file containing a link to the picture? if so, how do i get all pictures, that are in a folder and it's subfolders and only those? the description of the option --no-parent says "Do not ever ascend to the parent directory when retrieving recursively". anyway directory browsing delivers a link to the parent directory, which wget will follow, despite mentioned option. now what did i miss? edit: using GNU Wget 1.12

My question is would the first one still be running in the background but I just can't view it anymore? Is there anyway to check that the first one built and finished okay?

  • Can I use standard tools to get the full name of a process, when its name has embedded spaces?

    I understand that it may be a rare situation for an executable to have spaces in it, but it could happen. An example may be the best explanation.. Using standard tools, I want to determine the location (on the file system) of the executable which owns(?) the current window... get the current window ID ...(xdotool getactivewindow ) use the ID to get the PID ...(wmctrl -p -l | sed ... ID .... use the PID to get the executable's name ... (ps -A ... here is where I run into problems ! Whith ps, when listing only the executable's name (-o ucmd), it truncates the name to 15 characters, so this rules out this option for any name which is longer. Widening the column (-o ucmd:99 ) makes no difference.. If pgrep is anything to go by, its matching is limited to 15 because of stat (see: info pgrep).. Listings in variants of "full" mode (eg -A w w) are not useful when the name concerned has spaces in it, because this name is separated from its args by another space!.. Also, in "full" mode, if the process was started by a link, the name of the link is shown, rather than the executable's name. Is there some way to do this (using standard tools)? ...or are spaces a show stopper here?

    I am having some trouble with (I suspect) my wireless router. It's connected to the internet with a regular lan cable and has a static, public IP address. Our two home PCs connect to the router with regular lan cables, plus there's a laptop which connects over wifi. diagram: Internet | | <- isp-supplied cat5 ethernet cable | D-Link D300 ...wifi... laptop / \ / <- cable -> \ PC1 PC2 The PCs and laptop are behind NAT and share the router's public IP. The router is a D-Link D300. PC1 is used for online gaming and I'm experiencing frequent "connection dropped" errors when playing Battlefield 3, StarCraft 2 and the Diablo 3 beta; but not with TeamFortress 2 or the Tribes Ascend beta. The issue goes away when I remove the router and connect PC1 directly to the ISP's cable. I have also tried disconnecting PC2 and the laptop, leaving PC1 as the only machine connected to the router - doesn't help. How can I diagnose what precisely the issue is?

    Today I installed OpenVPN 2.3rc2 on both my windows 7 client machine and centos 6 server. This new version of OpenVPN provides full compatibility for IPv6. The Problem: I am currently able to connect to the server (through the IPv4 tunnel) and ping the IPv6 address which is assigned to my client and I can also ping the tun0 interface on the server. However, I cannot browse to any IPv6 websites. My vps provider has given me this: 2607:f840:0044:0022:0000:0000:0000:0000/64 is routed to this server (2607:f840:0:3f:0:0:0:eda).     I'm writing my own small-time game from scratch, and now I'm looking to start creating models. I've been wondering- what is the best model format to use? Given that I will be writing the model loading code myself and using whatever program generates them. Ideally, I'd look for a format that has fairly wide support between modelling programs, so I can pick the one I like most to actually perform the building, and the format itself would be relatively simple to load, rather than having all of the latest features.

    I have just installed a fresh copy of 12.04.1 64bit. I formatted my PC completely and enabled updates during the installation. After the installation was complete, I went on updating my software. However, when I wanted to install the additional drivers using the Additional Drivers tool (namely "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver"), it gave me this error: SystemError: E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. The same error shows up if I try installing the post-release updates driver. Installing the drivers from the terminal results in this output: XXXXXX:~$ sudo apt-get install fglrx [sudo] password for XXXXX: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.   • cisco vpn client randomly disconnects with pfSense

    My network has two gateways, one is a pfSense box that everyone uses. The other one is a TP-Link firewall essentially for tests. Some machines inside my network need to access a VPN through the Cisco VPN client. If one of those machines is using the pfSense box as the gateway, I experience random connection drops on the VPN. If I am using the TP-Link gateway that doesn't happen. I've tried changing the MTU in the pfSense box and that improved things a little bit but didn't really solve the problem. I also followed the guidelines for traffic shaping in pfSense and the connections still drop quite often. Ideas?
