• port redirection on solaris 11

  I'm trying port forwarding on solaris 11. I have a mechine behind a server that use solaris 11. I try to access that mechine from the external port, and forwarded by solaris 11 mechine to that machine using the ip filter. I give ipnat.conf configuration like this: rdr net0 0.0.0.0/0 port 1428 -> 10.1.18.178 port 22 but the response appeared when I tried to remote is connection time out, but if I redirect to a solaris 11 machine itself, the configuration is running well. • Google reader Keyboard shortcuts not working in Firefox 3.6

  I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 which comes with Firefox 3.6.3. Now Google reader some keyboard shortcuts stopped working, The j/k keys are ok, but 'v', 'Shift+x' and others don't work and start the Search As You type functionality I've always used. The Javascript console only shows this warning: Warning: The 'charCode' property of a keyup event should not be used. The value is meaningless. • Allow READ access to local folders in 2003SBS AD

  Have a SBS2003 client with a mess of a domain that is in process of being cleaned. But, for the life of me I cannot find a setting that will allow write access to the local hard disk for domain users with redirected profiles(to the server). This is needed only for one program that will not follow a symbolic link to the network path, instead it seems to be hard coded to the %appdata% folder but only on the c: drive.... So question is how can I allow "Domain users" write access to the local %appdata% directory? I have tried setting it manually on a machine but it kept resetting to RO no matter how many times I tried. Everytime I would uncheck the RO property it would reset sometime right after i hit OK. • OSX chown problems after creating users with dscl

  Alright, so I've made a user and a group using dscl as follows: dscl . -create /Users/deadline dscl . -create /Groups/deadline dscl . -append /Groups/deadline GroupMembership deadline Now I'm trying to chown things like so: mkdir /tmp/stuff chown deadline:deadline /tmp/stuff But the problem is that it sets the user and group to nobody instead of this user 'deadline'. What magic voodoo property do I need to add to the user and group to have it set the unix permissions properly? Also, why must Apple hate me and my Unix background :(

  Here is the scenario that I am in and am stuck on how to get this the correct way. What I'm looking for is a syntax that will provide me with statistics on what users have emailed "Sent" for the day. I would like to know get information on what all users of a specific distribution group has emailed for the day. I have tried the following to no avail. • Connection Reset by Peer error with Apache and JBoss 7.1.1

  We are seeing errors on some of our QA testing scripts that intermittently throw Connection Reset By Peer errors. The Test scripts submit requests via F5 which forwards requests to Apache (2.2.21) with a mod_jk load_balancer with the following setting for each worker in the worker.property worker1 props worker.worker1.type=ajp13 worker.worker1.port=8109 worker.worker1.lbfactor=1 worker.worker1.host=skunkhost1.com worker.worker1.connection_pool_timeout=30 and here is what is in the JBoss domain.xml for the AJP port from JBoss 7.1.1 <unbounded-queue-thread-pool name="SKUNKY.APP.AJP"> <max-threads count="300"/> <keepalive-time time="3" unit="minutes"/> </unbounded-queue-thread-pool> Here is httpd.conf Timeout 300 KeepAlive On KeepAliveTimeout 15 MaxKeepAliveRequests 100 TraceEnable Off My question is that is it posisbe that apache times out and closes the connection while jboss is still ready and working on the request? • Windows authenticated users have lost access to master (default) database

  Something very strange has occurred on our production SQL database. Users connecting via Windows authentication appear to have lost all access to the master database. By default, all logins have the default database set to master. So when you connect using SQL Server management studio, they get the error: "Cannot open user default database. Login failed error 4064". What's also worrying is that we have a group called "COMPANY - SQL Administrator" which has sysadmin rights and users in this group also get the same error. Worse, they don't appear to be system administrators anymore... If they change their default database to something else, they can connect and then work on the database, it's just the master database that is problematic. I'm not even sure by what mechanism windows authenticated users get access to the master database. Is it something hard coded in or some property that's got changed? Any ideas? Cheers, Rob.

  I have a batch file that takes a computer name as its argument and will install Java JRE on it remotely. Now, Im trying to run this Powershell script to repeatedly call the batch file and install Java on any system that it finds without the latest version. It seems to run error-free, but the statements inside the if code block never seem to run - even when the if conditional test evaluates to true. Can anyone look at this script and point out what I'm possibly missing? I'm using the Quest AD cmdlets, and BSOnPosh module. • How to get cluster information remotely via Powershell?

  I've been trying to find a good way to gather various pieces of a windows cluster setup remotely, preferably via WMI, as we are not yet at a point where Powershell remoting is implemented (and I know this problem goes away with that). I know I can use the following to get the current node: Get-WmiObject Win32_ComputerSystem -ComputerName RemoteServer1 | Select Name I also need the name property of Get-Cluster, which I can't figure out how to get from a remote system. Is there something out there, or should I wait it out until Remoting gets implemented? I'm a newbie to all things clustering, just a dba looking to inventory our servers properly. • Stupid question: prevent file from being changed under linux

  Ok. Stupid question. I have forgotten what this is called and without remembering the name the search function on the site and on google is failing me. What's the command under linux to mark a file as "locked"/to prevent any changes from being made to it? I'm not talking about chmod. There's a property that can be set (again the name escapes me at the moment) which prevents even processes running as root from changing a file. What is this called and how do I set it?

• sharepoint 2007 access denied when accessing user profiles via ssp

  Guys I have a really strange problem in regards to sharepoint mysites today I go into user profiles and properties in order to setup a property all of a sudden I get access denied. First off I know that I'm logged in with the correct account after the access denied I decided to click on personalization services and permissions I than get An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Cannot complete this action. I'm not seeing anything in the server application logs either. So have any of you guys seen this before is there some kind of way to grant a user account the manage profiles right permission using stsadm. BTW all other fucntions of the ssp are working fine so my question is if the user profiles and my sites of a ssp tanks how do you repair that portion of the ssp? BTW the user accounts that I'm using are site collection owners and also they have full control at the web application level.   I am trying to convert a list of property id numbers that has a standard format of 0000-A-00000-00-00, where my worksheet has the various combinations of 1-A-123 10-B-1234 Ideally they would read as follows 0001-A-00123-0000-00 0010-B-01234-0000-00 I've tried using the custom number formatting but it doesn't like the letter in the middle of the number. I didn't know if my only option was to break them apart and then put them back together again. I would accept a solution that merely put the leading zeros at the front of the number, (max is 4 characters) so the result could look like 0001-A-123

• Staying on a registered-only IRC channel

  Freenode, like other IRC servers, has the property that one's connection will drop at the slightest hiccup. Fortunately mIRC knows to automatically reconnect when this happens. The problem lies with some channels such as #ai, which cannot be joined unless one's nickname is registered. mIRC doesn't know how to send the password to NickServ, and even if it did, at the time it reconnects, the original connection is still present on the server as a ghost; it doesn't know to wait a few minutes for the original connection to be garbage collected; thus it is not able to stay on such channels. Is there a way to solve this problem either with mIRC or some other IRC client that runs on Windows?

• Persistent Spot Instance Request with CloudFormation

  Is it possible to create "Persistent Spot Instance" with AWS CloudFormation ? I'm going through the Autoscale and EC2 CloudFormation's template references but there is no mention how to set a property so the Spot requests stay persistent. When the price bid lower than the actual spot price AWS brings the instances down. I would like the instances to be started automatically when the instance price is cheaper again. This can be set manually when creating a new spot instance request by checking the option "Persistent Request" in the "Request Instances Wizard".

• How can I make Picasa see changes I make to photos using jhead?

  Last fall I forgot to set the time on my camera back an hour. I used jhead to change the time in the EXIF data: jhead -ta-1 IMG_1177.JPG but Picasa didn't notice. OS is Windows XP. If I right-click the picture in Picasa and choose Properties, in the top section of the dialog it shows "Date: 3/6/2010 11:22:54 AM" but in the Property|Value section it shows "Camera Date | 2010:03:06 10:22:54". I tried using "Refresh thumbnails" but that didn't help. Picasa notices other changes, like if I edit the photo in the Gimp or change the filename, but for some reason it doesn't notice this change.

  I want to change a date in a field within my word document, and have it update a couple other fields automatically within the same document. The behavior I'm seeking is basically the same as what a spreadsheet can do. Is this possible? More specifically, if the first page of the document has the date Jan 20 2012, I want to be able to change it, and then watch a couple other dates elsewhere automatically change to either the same date or the same date plus six days. I would also "settle" for having all three fields updated from a central document property (though I don't know how to create one of those properties). Regardless of which approach is used, I want one of the dates to be <value> plus six days such as Jan 26 2012 based on the earlier example I gave.

• Where and How should a Kernel Panic be reported?

  I've Archlinux installed on my laptop Fujitsu Amilo Pi 2*** and I cannot find any log at /var/log that has the StackTrace. The Kernel panics ALWAYS when I try to modify screen brightness. Where are those Logs or StackTraces? Do I have to install any package to catch that StackTrace? Where should I send that Log/StackTrace? • Windows 7, file properties, date modified, how do you show seconds?

  Anyone know a way to immediately show the seconds of a file's date modified property in the GUI? So if you create a file, any file in any directory, right-click and choose Properties, the date modified (if it's recent) will say something like "dd/mm/yyy hh:mm, one minute ago" - reminder this is in Windows 7. Windows XP did it normally. Then they changed something. If you wait a while, eventually you'll see the seconds, I'm not sure how long a while is, but this is incredibly annoying if you want to troubleshoot something that relies on the seconds of timestamps... is there a setting? registry key I can change perhaps? I'm literally using Chrome, pasting in the path of the directory to be able to see the seconds quickly (as a workaround) but would be nice to be able to use Win7.

  Here's a portion of the toolbar in Skim In the Add Note section, why are the following tools disabled (dimmed)? Add New Highlight (A in the yellow box) Add New Underline (red line under A) Add New Strike Out (A struck out by red line) However, in the Tool Mode section, there is a drop down button (shown as active in the screenshot). To illustrate, I can select and use the Add New Underline tool, as well as the other tools I mentioned above, using the drop down button. But those tools are dimmed out in the Add Note section. Why? I have observed that the drop down button is just a duplicate of the Add Note section. Why not just enable all the buttons in the Add Note section and save the user from making an extra click just to bring down a list of tools? Is this because of some property of the presently open PDF, or what?
