• implementing twitter bootstrap carousel

  I am having trouble implementing the bootstrap carousel. Can anyone look at the following html and js and give me instructions on how to implement the slide. The .js has not been edited and the carousel is installed on the body hero unit. Do I implement the carousel api? How do I define the carousel I am using within the .js file?   How do I get to list down the stored records in the for loop? Basically I want it to list down the records like this: '<div id="record_' + number + '">' + localstorage value + '</div>' The number in the class should add 1 every record, e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4 every record it lists down, and so on.   Hello, I'm a beginner in web development, and I'm trying to insert line breaks in my XML file. This is what my XML looks like: Song Title Lyrics <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> I want to have line breaks in between the sentences for the lyrics. I tried everything from /n, and other codes similar to it, PHP parsing, etc., and nothing works! Have been googling online for hours and can't seem to find the answer. I'm using the XML to insert data to an HTML page using Javascript. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks before :)

  I'm transforming XML to an HTML document. In this document I want to embed XML markup for a node that was just transformed (the HTML document is a technical spec).   Hi All, I was wondering if you could give me some helpful hints on how to correct this issue? I have a main menu on my site, the code for it is as follows: li:hover { background-color: #222222; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 9px; } And here's a demo of what it actually looks like: The problem is that when I hover over a menu option (li), the background appears, but it overflows to the outside of the menu's background, and makes it look really dodgy/crap/cheap/yuck! Note that (obviously) when I change the padding to make it display correctly in these browsers, it appears too small in height in IE! So I'm screwed either way. How can I make little imperfections like this look the same in all browsers? In IE it looks fine but I can't get it right in Firefox (always at the top of the "mess" div) I tried with display: inline,display: table-cell for "rpl" DIV but with no effect in FF. Is there any solution for vertical align for DIV in FF?

• Automatic multi-page multi-column flowing text with QtWebkit (HTML/CSS/JS -> PDF)

  I have some HTML documents that are converted to PDF, using software that renders using QtWebkit (not sure which version). Currently, the documents have specific tags to split into columns and pages - so whenever the wording changes, it is a manual time-consuming process to move these tags so that the columns and pages fit. Can anyone provide a way to have text auto-wrapped into the next column/page (as appropriate) when it reaches the bottom of the current container? Any HTML, CSS or JS supported by QtWebkit is ok (assuming it works in the PDF converter). (I have tested the webkit-column-* in CSS3 and it appears QtWebkit does not support this.) To make things more exciting, it also needs to: - put a header at the top of each page, with page X of Y numbering; - if an odd number of pages, add a blank page at the end (with no header); - have the ability to say "don't break inside this block" or "don't break after this header" I have put some quick example initial markup and target markup to help explain what I'm trying to do. (The actual documents are far more complicated than that, but I need a simple proof-of-concept before I attack the real ones.) Any suggestions? Update: I've got a partially working solution using Aaron's "filling up" suggestion - I'll post more details in a bit.

• using jQuery to load the body of another HTML document between entries

  I'm trying to use jQuery to load the body of another HTML document, which contains our AdSense banner. It should display under each blog entry when in list view. I'm able to get it to load text, even images, but not the banner; the banner is a small script. Here is the website we are working with: http://neverknowtech.com/data/ (that's a test page, and the 'entry' displayed there contains the intended body content) As you can see here the body code does include an ad, and the word 'Ad'. The word 'Ad' is shown correctly below the post (as it is in list view) but the script for the Google Ad doesn't seem to make it. • Using Javascript to submit forms.

  I am using a jQuery function to submit a form when a certain button is pressed, however this seems to have no effect on the form. This function may seem meaningless since I can just use a input type="submit" but I originally intended this to have some more functionality, I stripped the function to its bare bones for testing purposes.

• PHP fails silently when php-code is within html tag

  PROBLEM UPDATED, READ BELOW For some reason my CI fails silently when loading view. Loading view is simply called from controller $this->load->view('templates/default.php'); Now. There are some functions in the loaded view that are not defined unless a proper helper is loaded as well. Normally, php would throw an error, but instead it fails silently here. I have no idea why. The template gets outputted till the line containing the undefined function. It took me long time to realise where my script is failing. Here's my setup: Windows 7 Ultimate Apache 2.2.15 PHP 5.3.2 with following error reporting settings: display_errors = On display_startup_errors = On error_reporting = E_ALL | E_STRICT CodeIgniter 1.7.2 Any ideas why would that be? UPDATE After further debugging, it turned out that PHP fails to report any errors when php code is inline with HTML and within the HTML tag. Now this is bizarre. This returns Fatal Error: <p><?php echo $bogus(); ?></p> This doesn't and fails silently: <p class="<?php echo $bogus(); ?>">paragraph</p> Why? :O UPDATE 2 Further investigation showed that if an error_log in PHP is specified, the errors are in fact reported in that file, but still not in the browser... Again, why? UPDATE 3 Actually my code should be slightly different. Checked another PHP installation on completely different machine and it confirmed the PHP bug. • Dynamically Resizing an Iframe

  Hello All, I can see that this question has been asked several times, but none of the proposed solutions seem to work for the site I am building, so I am reopening the thread. I am attempting to size an iframe based on the height of it's content. Both the page that contains the iframe and it's source page exist on the same domain. I have tried the proposed solutions in each of the following threads: Resize iframe height according to content height in it Resizing an iframe based on content I believe that the solutions above are not working because of when the reference to body.clientHeight is made, the browser has not actually determined the height of the document. Here is the code I am using: var ifmBlue = document.getElementById("ifmBlue"); ifmBlue.onload = resizeIframe; function resizeIframe() { var ifmBlue = document.getElementById("ifmBluePill"); var ifmDiv = ifmBlue.contentDocument.getElementById("main"); var height = ifmDiv.clientHeight; ifmBlue.style.height = (ifmBlue.contentDocument.body.scrollHeight || ifmBlue.contentDocument.body.offsetHeight || ifmBlue.contentDocument.body.parentNode.clientHeight || height || 500) + 5 + 'px'; } If I debug the script using fire debug, the client height of the iframe.contentDocument's main div is 0. Additionally, body.offsetHieght, & body.scrollHeight are 0. However, after the script is finished running, if I inspect the DOM of the HTML iframe element (using fire debug) I can see that the body's clientHeight is 456 and the inner div's clientHeight is 742. This leads me to believe that these values are not yet set when iframe.onload is fired. So, per one of the threads above, I moved the code into the body.onload event handler of the iframe's source page. This solution also did not work. Any help you can provide is much appreciated.   Hi, I have hosted a website. But now my client asks to change it to http://sites.google.com. They hav registered their domain in google. I logged in the site and saw the procedures to create a website from scratch. But is there any way to directly replace the site into google sites. Like, in my site i hav included css files in a folder called stylesheets/css and access it through the link tag. And there are several folders lik that, viz images, scripts etc. 1.Now if i have to transfer it to google sites, where do i create the folders and stuff. I have the priviliges to login to the admin part of the site. 2.And also is there anyway to create database and access it in google sites? 3.Also i see that only html pages can be created. Is there a way to add php pages or other scripting languages? 4.Going forward will google sites be usefull for professional web designing. pls give ideas on whether or not google sites is a good idea to go with

• Is there a tag in XHTML that you can put anywhere in the body - even inside TABLE elements?

  I would like to be able to place an empty tag anywhere in my document as a marker that can be addressed by jQuery. However, it is important that the XHTML still validates. To give you a bit of background as to what I'm doing: I've compared the current and previous versions of a particular document and I'm placing markers in the html where the differences are. I'm then intending to use jQuery to highlight the parent block-level elements when highlightchanges=true is in the URL's query string. At the moment I'm using <span> tags but it occurred to me that this sort of thing wouldn't validate: <table> <tr> <td>Old row</td> </tr> <span class="diff"></span><tr> <td>Just added</td> </tr> </table> So is there a tag I can use anywhere?   Hi, I'm trying to edit my sidebar.php file in my current them WP is using to display the last # of posts (only the titles) as links. I tried using the example of http://codex.wordpress.org/Integrating_WordPress_with_Your_Website but I always get the error on the line that states where the file wp-blog-header can be found. the error when opening the index blog page where the sidebar should be shown: // Get the last 3 posts. Warning: require(/blog/folder/wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /blog/folder/wp-content/themes/default/sidebar.php on line 7 So what is wrong? • How do I get the collection of Model State Errors in ASP.NET MVC?

  How do I get the collection of errors in a view? I don't want to use the Html Helper Validation Summary or Validation Message. Instead I want to check for errors and if any display them in specific format. Also on the input controls I want to check for a specific property error and add a class to the input. P.S. I'm using the Spark View Engine but the idea should be the same. So I figured I could do something like... <if condition="${ModelState.Errors.Count > 0}"> DispalyErrorSummary() </if> ....and also... <input type="text" value="${Model.Name}" class="?{ModelState.Errors["Name"] != string.empty} error" /> .... Or something like that. UPDATE My final solution looked like this: <input type="text" value="${ViewData.Model.Name}" class="text error?{!ViewData.ModelState.IsValid && ViewData.ModelState["Name"].Errors.Count() > 0}" id="Name" name="Name" /> This only adds the error css class if this property has an error.

• Change select's class based on selected option's class

  I have a page that contains numerous <select> elements. What I'm trying to achieve is to ensure that if a <select>'s selected <option> has a class called italic, then the <select> then has the italic class added (i.e. jQuery.addClass('italic')). If it doesn't, then the italic class is removed from the <select> to ensure other <option> elements are displayed correctly (i.e. jQuery.removeClass('italic')). What I'm noticing with most of my attempts is that either all the <select> have the italic class or that the italic class isn't being removed accordingly. Since I'm unsure my choice in selectors and callback logic are particularly sound or good practice in this instance (as I've been frustratingly trying to make it work) I've decided not to include the code I used in previous attempts. Instead, refer to this small HTML & CSS example: .italic { font-style: italic; } <select id="foo" name="foo" size="1" <option value="NA" selected="selected" - Select - </option <option value="1"Bar</option <option value="2"Fu</option <option value="3"Baz</option </select Also, I am aware that not all browsers support CSS styling of <select> and <option>.   I asked this at the GWT forum but I'm impatient for the answer and I seem to get rather good responses here. A html or jsp file is used to launch the xxx.nocache.js, which then decides which browser "permutation" to use. <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"> <title>xxx</title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="xxx.nocache.js"></script> </head> In my case, I am using a jsp. When the JSP is executed, it discovers some conditions. I wish to pass these conditions as values to the GWT module being launched. The "elegant" GWT way to pass these values would be to persist them as request/memcache attributes and then have the GWT module perform RPC to retrieve those values. For example, the JSP discovers that the current user is Whoopy. Shouldn't I simply have the JSP generate javascript to store user = "Whoopy" as a top or namedframe level javascript variable and use JSNI within the module to retrieve the value for user? I have not tried it yet, but I would like to know how anyone might have done it without having to use RPC.

• How can I fix this clang warning: "Object with +0 retain counts returned to caller where +1 (owning)

  I have a piece of Objective-C code that looks like the following: - (NSString *)copyData:(NSData *)data { NSString *path = [[[self outputDirectory] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"archive"] stringByAppendingPathExtension:@"zip"]; NSLog(@"Copying data to %@", path); [data writeToFile:path atomically:NO]; return path; } The code is called from an initializer that looks like this: - (id)initWithData:(NSData *)data { if ((self = [super init]) != nil) { NSString *path = [self copyData:data]; // Line 41 (referenced in warning, shown below) return [self initWithContentsOfFile:path]; } return self; } When running the clang static analyzer, I get the following warnings for the path variable: Potential leak of an object allocated on line 41 and stored into 'path' Object with +0 retain counts returned to caller where +1 (owning) retain count is expected I'm confused. My understanding is that stringByAppendingPathComponent should not return an autoreleased string, so it should have a net retain count of 0. (Obviously I don't want to retain it.) I've tried altering copyData: to return the following, but it didn't get rid of the warning: return [[path retain] autorelease]; So what's the deal with this warning?
