  It has been quite awhile since I added anything new to the book. I have my reasons (some would probably say excuses :) ) mainly that finding the energy and time to write is very hard with a wife, 3 kids and a startup. • Path Finding for an Arena based map in 3D using NavMesh

  I have a 3D arena map (consider a small island surrounded by water on all sides) for a multiplayer Tank fight game. The moveable areas are marked using a Navigation Mesh made by the Arena designer. My question is what would be the best way for navigation in such an environment ? Specially considering the case when there is a Bridge at the center of the arena and you could walk under it or even above it ? If suppose the enemy is standing at the top of the Bridge and my AI is at one of the edges of the map ? How can it know whether the enemy is above or below the bridge and how can it navigate till it ?

• PHP composer question

  just getting started with composer and I have a couple of questions. When I use composer to add a dependency, the dependency gets added to my folder's Vendor directory. The newly added package not only comes with the source code for that package, but all packagist required files for the developer to test and add that package to packagist repo (composer.json, .travis.yaml, license, readme.md, etc). For my project, do I need to keep the vendor's required packagist files in my project? Can I clean the package folder structure up a little? I added the package, Slim micro framework, which nests the source files three directories deep upon installation, ../vendor/slim/slim/Slim/(source Files). Is it worth moving these files to the top Slim directory like: ../vendor/Slim/(source files)? Or will this ruin the integrity of the package?

• What does Enable/Disable mean in Bing's URL Normalization feature?

  I'm in Bing Webmaster Tools, under Index URL Normalization. Many parameters are listed in the table with 3 other columns: Status, Source, Date. The "Source" column says "Webmaster" where I have added parameters, and "Bing" where I assume the parameter has been auto-detected. "Date" is probably the last date it detected the parameter. I've tried searching the help files but I can't find what the Status column means. The top of the page says: This feature allows you to specify query parameters for Bing’s crawler to ignore. But it's not clear whether "Enable" or "Disable" is related to this, and if so what happens in each case. Does anyone know?

• ubuntu 11.10 CellC data card

  In 11.10 I find that I can connect to the internet via broadband connection successfully. The problem is that I cannot have the data card attached to the machine while the machine boots up. If I leave the data card in the machine during startup, the data card is not picked up and I then cannot connect to the internet. I must first boot up my machine, login, attach the data card into the usb port, wait so 30 seconds. The broadband connection name will then appear in the network dropdown at the top of the screen. An internet connect is now possible via broadband. Please let me know what must be done to fix this. Thanks Armien

  How to erase the inputted character on the window and to write the another one on its place???   Hi, I'm interested in eventually programming for a financial company. Unfortunately, I have a degree in linguistics with a minor in CS along with 4 years experience in .NET. I picked .NET because I thought that it would be more used in the financial world. I've heard some horror stories about badly done VBA Excel programming and being way underpaid...but then I've heard great stories about highly skilled C++ programming along with high pay (including some feedback to previous questions). I just get the impression that unless you have a MS in CS from a top 10/20 school, it might not be realistic. For those of you doing programming for bankers/traders, how did you break in?

• Bad texture on model with different GPU

  I have some kind of distortion on the texture of my 3D model. It works perfectly well on an AMD GPU, but when testing on a integrated Intel HD graphics card it has a weird issue. I don't have a problem with the rest of my entities as they are not scaled. The models with the problems are scaled, as my engine supports different sizes for the platforms. I am using Ogre3D as rendering engine, and GLSL as shader language. • Dolphin Search Toolbar is missing its text field. How can I get it back?

  A while ago, my Search Toolbar bar went missing in dolphin. I'm referring to the Search Toolbar found under SettingsToolbars ShownSearch Toolbar. I used to sit at the very top right corner of the window. If the search toolbar is checked for view/unhide, the toolbar looks to activate something, as there is a slight shift in the interface buttons, but the text field is gone from the toolbar. I tried reconfiguring with dpkg, purging and reinstalling, etc. I left it alone as I thought it would be fixed in an update, but today I upgraded dolphin and it's still gone. This appears to be a 4.6 bug or something. Any thoughts?

• Terminal shows menu in panel but window is missing

  I upgraded from 10.10. Then everything worked well except very important one -- my terminal. I try to open my terminal, but no any window popup. I press alt+tab and the windows switcher appears in which there is the terminal. I switch to it, however, nothing happens. I can see the word terminal in my top bar. When I move cursor on it I see the file edit view and so on. But they are useless unless I can find my terminal window. I have no problem with chrome, firefox, eclipse, ubuntu software center, pidgin and many more applications. But without terminal, I'm using a disabled linux.

• Opening a Gtk.Window that covers Launcher and Panel

  I am trying to create a GtkWindow that would be on top of all the windows. This includes Unity's Launcher and Panel. I am working on Kazam screen recorder and one of the options of the program is recording an arbitrary area of the screen. For this, I open a GtkWindow and let user resize it and move it around the screen to the desired location. The problem is when user wants to resize the window over the Panel (or Launcher). It can't be done. It seems that window manager is preventing this. I can move the window under panel and launcher if I ALT-drag it, but the problem because area selection window stays below Launcher and Panel. Any ideas are more than welcome.

• SEO Benefits of adding a Tumblr feed to site

  A client of ours has a CMS driven Blog in his hotel site - he would like to use the blog to add depth top his site and add seo benefits relating to the blogs content. The current blog is a basic header / text field and doesn't contain any tagging / meta features. Unfortunately we dont have a .net developer in our team to alter the existing blog and add meta / tagging and there isn't budget to hire one - so I considered using a Tumblr blog - setting it up externally - giving it a blog.hotelname.com address and feeding it into the existing page via tumblrs js - which basically does a document.write into the page - which we can style. I understand from a previous post (Poor CMS blog vs Tumblr embed as a general rule most search engines ignore JS created content - but will the above approach act as an improvement on the existing system for now - as the blog will be setup externally with its own url and also feed into the existing site?
