• iPhone first responders

  I am confused about the iPhone responder chain. Specifically, in the iPhone event handling guide http://developer.apple.com/iPhone/library/documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/iPhoneOSProgrammingGuide/EventHandling/EventHandling.html, we have the following: The first responder is the responder object in an application (usually a UIView object) that is designated to be the first recipient of events other than touch events. But UIView is a subclass of UIResponder. And the UIResponder class reference says this: - (BOOL)canBecomeFirstResponder Return Value YES if the receiver can become the first responder, NO otherwise. Discussion Returns NO by default. If a responder object returns YES from this method, it becomes the first responder and can receive touch events and action messages. Subclasses must override this method to be able to become first responder. I am confused by the apparent contradiction. Can anyone clear it up for me? For what it's worth, I did set up a simple view-based application, and call canBecomeFirstResponder and isFirstResponder on its view. Both returned NO.

• Html Select List: why would onchange be called twice?

  I have a page with a select list (ASP.NET MVC Page) The select list and onchange event specified like this: <%=Html.DropDownList("CompanyID", Model.CompanySelectList, "(select company)", new { @class = "data-entry-field", @onchange = "companySelectListChanged()" })%> The companySelectListChanged function is getting called twice? I am using the nifty code in this question to get the caller. both times the caller is the onchange event, however if i look at the callers caller using: arguments.callee.caller.caller the first call returns some system code as the caller (i presume) and the second call returns undefined. I am checking for undefined to only react once to onchange, but this doesnt seem ideal, whcy would onchange be called twice? UPDATE: ok, found the culprit! ...apart from me :-) but the issue of calling the companySelectListChanged function twice still stands. The onchange event is set directly on the select as mentioned. This calls the companySelectListChanged function. ..notice the 'data-entry-field' class, now in a separate linked javascript file a change event on all fields with this class is bound to a function that changes the colour of the save button. This means there is two events on the onchange, but the companySelectListChanged is called twice? The additional binding is set as follows: $('.data-entry-field').bind('keypress keyup change', function (e) { highLightSaveButtons(); }); Assuming its possible to have 2 change events on the select list, its would assume that setting keypress & keyup events may be breaking something? Any ideas?

  Hi, Ive made a query in PHP, and i'm trying to send the results back into Flash via AS3, but its throwing up this error Error: Error #2101: The String passed to URLVariables.decode() must be a URL-encoded query string containing name/value pairs. at Error$/throwError() at flash.net::URLVariables/decode() at flash.net::URLVariables() at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete() Here is the relevant part of the PHP and AS3 code, including the query.   We have .net application installed on production server. It is using .net FrameWork 3.0 on windows server 2003 with RAM 4 GB. But there is a problem in application while running sometimes it throws system out of memory exception. I am very frustrating with this. Also I am unable to simulate the issue. I had checked all the possibilities which can cause the problem but didn’t get any thing which solve the issue I checked on production server event log found the Out Of Memory Exception also INVALID VIEW STATE logs are there. • Jeditable Datepicker onblur problem

  Hi, I am using inline editing using Jeditable and datepicker. I have a column in my table which displays Date as a hyperlink. When I click on this it shows me the datepicker. And when a particular date is selected its updated in the backend and the cell now is updated with the changed value. However, am having problem with onblur event while changing month or years. This event gets triggered when I click on "Prev" or "Next" buttons on the datepicker control. This causes an exception when the date is selected. This works fine as long as the date selected is in the current month. I tried all possible solutions listed here: stackoverflow.com/questions/2007205/jeditable-datepicker-causing-blur-when-changing-month If settimeout the control does not change back to a normal hyperlink on closing the datepicker or on a true onblur event.   I am looking for a comparison of Fingerprint reader SDKs available for .NET (we are using .Net 3.5). My requirements are 1. Associate more than one fingerprint with a person. 2. Store the fingerprints it self. (So I do not have to change the Database for my program.) 3. Work in both event and no-event mode. (Event Mode: Give notification if someone swipes a finger on the reader; No-Event mode: I activate the reader in synchronous mode). 4. Should provide API for either confirming a user or Identifying a user. (Confirm API: I send the person's ID/unique number and it confirms that it is the same person; Identifying API: The sdk sends the person's ID after it looks up the person using the fingerprint) I would also like to get a comparison of Fingerprint readers if anybody knows of one available on the internet. • Flex: How to refresh/repaint a chart?

  I have a chart for which the data is provided asynchronously via a CallResponder (used with a RemoteObject). However, it does not seem possible to update the chart with the data after it has been initially drawn. I have tried: Firing a collection modified event after assigning it to chart.dataProvider calling invalidateDisplayList (tried with all components) binding the chart data provider to a variable, and doing the above. changing the view state on the last line of resultHandler. None of them worked. When I fetch the data and cache it locally, then use it to call init synchronously, the chart displays correctly. What am I missing here?

  Hi, I am using a custom webview to show a tabbar when user touches on the webview. But when I clicked on a link in a webview, tabbar is shown for a little time and then page loads. Because a link stands on the webview, webview detects the touch and also it loads the page... I want to prevent it. Thanks in advance.

I achieved the goal, but now i can not figure out how to know if the knob is rotating left or right.   I am developing in application in XNA which draws random paths. Unfortunately, I'm out of touch with graphing, so I'm a bit stuck. My application needs to do the following: Pick a random angle from my origin (0,0), which is simple. Draw a circle in relation to that origin, 16px away (or any distance I specify), at the angle found above. (Excuse my horrible photoshoping) The second circle at (16,16) would represent a 45 degree angle 16 pixels away from my origin. I would like to have a method in which I pass in my distance and angle that returns a point to graph at. i.e. private Point GetCoordinate(float angle, int distance) { // Do something. return new Point(x,y); } I know this is simple, but agian, I'm pretty out of touch with graphing. • Java: does the EDT restart or not when an exception is thrown?

• Load external script dynamic, and access it, so I can trigger its domready function

  I am trying to load the Zopim chat client. Normally it is included with a document write action. This causes it to be loaded before the domReady function is triggered, as it needs this to start itself. I want to load it later, and this works by using prototype (framework determined by Magento) to create a new script element and attaching it to the head. The script is loaded perfectly, but the domReady doesn't fire, so the script is never started. The script is a nameless class, by this I mean that all its functions are encapsulated in {} UPDATE: Sorry, I got it wrong, it is as self invoking function, the same syntax as the first answer suggest. (function C(){ })(); This function call when run sets up listening events for the domReady event under various browsers and then waits. When the domready event fires, it calls a function (that is within the self-invoked function) that starts everything. What I need, is a way to access this function somehow. END UPDATE Within that is a function named C. How can I call this function directly? Or put another way, how can I start an external javascript file that depends on domready going off, when that event doesn't happen? Can I load an external javascript file into a variable, so I can name the class? Can I access the nameless class {} somehow maybe via the script tag? Is there a way to alter the external file/javascript so I can have it look for another event, one that I can trigger? About the only solution I can think of at the moment is to create a iframe and load the script in that.

• AMF data is incomplete with Flex Service

  Hello everybody. I am bussy with a Flex Project with a data services. Flash builder installed Zend Framework with Zend_Amf. When i run the project i get the error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed. With chalers i say that Zend_Amf give the error: AMF data is incomplete (0 bytes of 0 bytes). Please check the recording limits in the Recording Settings. I don't know what the problem means. I have searched on google, but i haven't found a good result.
