• Migrate Spring JPA DAO unit testing to google app engine

  I'm trying to put together a simple environment where I can get Spring, Maven, JPA, Google App Engine and DAO unit testing working happily all together. The goal is to be able to run a simple DAO unit test creating an entity and then load it again with a simple find to check it's been created properly - all of this from my maven build. My dao is making use of the JPA entity manager (query(), persist(), etc.) I've got it working no problem with hsqldb and a datasource, etc. but I'm struggling to get it working with appengine. My questions are: 1) I'm using an entity manager, injecting my persistence unit as followed. Is it OK? Is there any need for a datasource or something special? I also get loads of conflicts when I try to add some jars (datanucleus and stuff). So far I'm trying appengine-api-1.0-sdk v1.7.0 - ASM-all v3.3 - datanucleus core/api-jpa/enhancer v3.1.0 - datanucleus-appengine v2.0.1.1 and all the gae testing jars v1.7.0 3) Is there anything I need to add to my surefire plugin (test runner) to make sure it picks up all the dependencies? I'm getting an exhausting ClassNotFound on DatastorePersistenceProvider while it is in my classpath (I checked the jars and the mvn dependency:tree) I had a look at this but it doesn't seem to be working at all: http://www.vertigrated.com/blog/2011/02/working-maven-3-google-app-engine-plugin-with-gwt-support/ 4) Do I need to use any sot of localhelper to test my DAOs? Would anyone make use of it (a plugin or something) ? 6) Is the gwt-maven plugin any helpful if I don't use gwt - I'm writing a simple webservice making use of appengine, not a GWT app... • Rogue PropertyChanged notifications from ViewModel

  The following simple program is causing me a Databinding headache. I'm new to this which is why I suspect it has a simple answer. Basically, I have two text boxes bound to the same property myString. I have not set up the ViewModel (simply a class with one property, myString) to provide any notifications to the View for when myString is changed, so even although both text boxes operate a two way binding there should be no way that the text boxes update when myString is changed, am I right? Except... In most circumstances this is true - I use the 'change value' button at the bottom of the window to change the value of myString to whatever the user types into the adjacent text box, and the two text boxes at the top, even although they are bound to myString, do not change. Fine. However, if I edit the text in TextBox1, thus changing the value of myString (although only when the text box loses focus due to the default UpdateSourceTrigger property, see reference), TextBox2 should NOT update as it shouldn't receive any updates that myString has changed. However, as soon as TextBox1 loses focus (say click inside TextBox2) TextBox2 is updated with the new value of myString. My best guess so far is that because the TextBoxes are bound to the same property, something to do with TextBox1 updating myString gives TextBox2 a notification that it has changed. Very confusing as I haven't used INotifyPropertyChanged or anything like that. To clarify, I am not asking how to fix this. I know I could just change the binding mode to a oneway option. I am wondering if anyone can come up with an explanation for this strange behaviour? • ANT: ways to include libraries and license issues

  I have been trying to use Ant to compile and ready a project for distribution. I have encountered several problems along the way that I have been finally able to solve but the solution leaves me very unsatisfied. First, let me explain the set-up of the project and its dependencies. I have a project, lets call it Primary which depends on a couple of libraries such as the fantastic Guava. It also depends on another project of mine, lets call it Secondary. The Secondary project also features some dependencies, for example, JDOM2. I have referenced the Jar I build with Ant in Primary. Furthermore, I believe that including these libraries as class files is bad practice as it could give rise to licensing issues while not packaging them and merely including them in a directory along the build Jar would most probably not (And if it would you could choose not to distribute them yourself). I think my inability to correctly assemble the class path, I always received NoClassDefFoundError for classes or libraries in the Primary project when launching Second's Jar, is that I am not very experienced with Ant. Would I require to specify a class path for both projects? Specifying the class path as . should have allowed me to simply add all dependencies to the same folder as Secondary's Jar, should it not?

  Hi everyone, Here's the situation : I use SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Replication, Visual Studio 2010, EntityFramework 4, C# 4. The course-of-action from our DBA is to use a rowguid column for SQL Replication to work with our setup. These columns need to have a StoreGeneratedPattern property set to Computed on every one of these columns. The problem : Every time the T4 template regenerate our EDMX (ADO.NET Entity Data Model) file (for example, when we update it from our database), I need to go manually in the EDMX XML file to add this property to every one of them. It has to go from this : <Property Name="rowguid" Type="uniqueidentifier" Nullable="false" /> To this : <Property Name="rowguid" Type="uniqueidentifier" Nullable="false" StoreGeneratedPattern="Computed"/> The solution : I'm trying to find a way to customize an ADO.NET EntityObject Generator T4 file to generate a StoreGeneratedPattern="Computed" to every rowguid that I have. I'm fairly new to T4, I only did customization to AddView and AddController T4 templates for ASP.NET MVC 2, like List.tt for example. I've looked through the EF T4 file, and I can't seem to find through this monster where I could do that (and how). • Subscribing message sent from another application

  I have two Java applications: AppOne and AppTwo. In AppOne, I used a JMS sender to publish a Topic. In both AppOne and AppTwo, I used a JMS MessageListener to subscribe to the message published by AppOne. I used ActiveMQ as my JMS broker and Spring JMS. However, I can only see the echoed message received by AppOne message listener. But I can't see the echoed message received by AppTwo listener. AppOne message listener is in the same application/project as the message publisher. But AppTwo message listener is in a different application/project. The first listener is in the same application as the sender, so it is easy to understand that it can get the message. But how about the second listener which is in a different application? Given this, i have 2 questions: Is there any other alternative for hosting a word document in a Windows Form apart from using the DSOFramer.ocx component? If i move to Windows 64 bit operating system, and run the windows form as a native 64 bit process, then how do I host the word document in a 64 bit process?

  I have a webpage that's leaking memory in both IE8 and Firefox; the memory usage displayed in the Windows Process Explorer just keeps growing over time. The following page requests the "unplanned.json" url, which is a static file that never changes (though I do set my Cache-control HTTP header to no-cache to make sure that the Ajax request always goes through). When it gets the results, it clears out an HTML table, loops over the json array it got back from the server, and dynamically adds a row to an HTML table for each entry in the array. Then it waits 2 seconds and repeats this process. So you can't give it a query like `$("#content tbody tr")` and expect it to remove all of the elements you've specified. Any element that you remove with it must have an `id` attribute. So if I want to remove my `tbody`, then I must assign an `id` to my `tbody` tag or else it will give an error. It removes the element itself and all of its descendants, so if you simply want to empty that element then you'll have to re-create it afterwards (or modify the plugin to empty instead of remove). So here's my page above modified to use Toran's plugin. For the sake of simplicity I didn't apply any of the general performance advice offered by Peter.   I am using Uploadify (http://www.uploadify.com/) to enable my users to upload images via my web application. The problem I am having is that every now and then (at what appears to be random) when the progress bar reaches 100% it 'hangs' and does nothing. I was wondering if any developers familiar with uploadify may have any idea how to solve this? I am in desperate need of some help.   I have a report in LaTeX, and i have used the following commands to create my Appendix, however, my lecturer states that any divider pages should be unnumbered. \documentclass{report} \usepackage{appendix} \begin{document} \include{chap1} \include{appendix} \end{document} Then in appendix.tex \appendix \pagestyle{empty} \appendixpage \noappendicestocpagenum \addappheadtotoc This creates the Appendices divider page, but still puts a page number on it in the footer. There is no page number in the TOC, as expected. How can i remove it from the footer? Thanks
