  • Will buy simple Cocos2D bubbles iPad game for private use (source)

    - by boliva
Hi, First of all, sorry if this is the wrong place for posting this kind of request. IDK if is there already a marketplace on the stack community. I'm a fairly experienced iPhone/iPad developer with several Apps already published. I have a deep understanding of Objective-C and the Cocoa framework, as well as with the iPhone development tools. However, I have never used Cocos2d (or any other gaming engine for that matter) as I've mostly specialized in utilities/productivity Apps. I am in the urgent need of developing a really simple iPad game (for which I will provide all of the media assets - graphics and sounds) that needs to be deployed in about a week from now. Basically the game should allow the user to pop bubbles of different size and speed as they move from the bottom to the top of the screen. While I could take the time to read the documentation and start working on this game myself, I'm currently with a couple of other projects that I need to finish soon, so I would like to ask for the help of some other more experienced Cocos2D developer which could develop this game on its basic form for me. If you think you can help, please send me your quote, timing and, if possible, samples of previous work done with Cocos2D that would be similar to what I need. I can provide more detail upon request. Best and thank you all.

  • Did You Know: Where's the Best Place to Get Started?

    - by Kalen Delaney
Have you ever wondered how to start learning about a specific SQL Server topic? Or how to advise someone who asks "How do I get started?" Redgate, and SQL Server Central, have launched a new site to answer that question. SQL Server Stairways are a series of tutorials designed to take you from zero knowledge of a particular SQL Server topic, to a level of practical understanding that will allow you to start using that feature in a production environment. Not all the tutorials are finished, but new...(read more)

  • Entity and pattern validation vs DB constraint

    - by Joerg
When it comes to performance: What is the better way to validate the user input? If you think about a phone number and you only want numbers in the database, but it could begin with a 0, so you will use varchar: Is it better to check it via the entity model like this: @Size(min = 10, max = 12) @Digits(fraction = 0, integer = 12) @Column(name = "phone_number") private String phoneNumber; Or is it better to use on the database side a CHECK (and no checking in the entity model) for the same feature?

  • Can mod_rewrite Conditions/Rules be executed in random order?

    - by Tom
I have some mod rewrite rules that test for the presence of a file on various NFS mounts and I would like that the tests occur randomly, as a very rudimentary way to distribute load. For example: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount1/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mnt/mount1/$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount2/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mount2/$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount3/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mnt/mount3/$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ RewriteCond /mnt/mount4/%1 -f RewriteRule ^/(.+)$ /mnt/mount4/$1 [L] As far as I understand mod_rewrite Apache will look for the file on /mnt/mount1, then mount2, mount3 and so on. Can I randomize this on each request? I understand this is an odd request but I need a creative solution to some unforeseen downtime. On a side note, do I need to redeclare RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(.+)$ each time like I have done? Thanks

  • Python cannot go over internet network

    - by user1642826
I am currently trying to work with python networking and I have reached a bit of a road block. I am not able to network with any computer but localhost, which is kind-of useless with what networking is concerned. I have tried on my local network, from one computer to another, and I have tried over the internet, both fail. The only time I can make it work is if (when running on the server's computer) it's ip is set as 'localhost' or '192.168.2.129' (computers ip). I have spent hours going over opening ports with my isp and have gotten nowhere, so I decided to try this forum. I have my windows firewall down and I have included some pictures of important screen shots. I have no idea what the problem is and this has spanned almost a year of calls to my isp. The computer, modem, and router have all been replaced in that time. Screen shots: import socket import threading import socketserver class ThreadedTCPRequestHandler(socketserver.BaseRequestHandler): def handle(self): data = self.request.recv(1024) cur_thread = threading.current_thread() response = "{}: {}".format(cur_thread.name, data) self.request.sendall(b'worked') class ThreadedTCPServer(socketserver.ThreadingMixIn, socketserver.TCPServer): pass def client(ip, port, message): sock = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) sock.connect((ip, port)) try: sock.sendall(message) response = sock.recv(1024) print("Received: {}".format(response)) finally: sock.close() if __name__ == "__main__": # Port 0 means to select an arbitrary unused port HOST, PORT = "192.168.2.129", 9000 server = ThreadedTCPServer((HOST, PORT), ThreadedTCPRequestHandler) ip, port = server.server_address # Start a thread with the server -- that thread will then start one # more thread for each request server_thread = threading.Thread(target=server.serve_forever) # Exit the server thread when the main thread terminates server_thread.daemon = True server_thread.start() print("Server loop running in thread:", server_thread.name) ip = '12.34.56.789' print(ip, port) client(ip, port, b'Hello World 1') client(ip, port, b'Hello World 2') client(ip, port, b'Hello World 3') server.shutdown() I do not know where the error is occurring. I get this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Dr.Frev\Desktop\serverTest.py", line 43, in <module> client(ip, port, b'Hello World 1') File "C:\Users\Dr.Frev\Desktop\serverTest.py", line 18, in client sock.connect((ip, port)) socket.error: [Errno 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it Any help will be greatly appreciated. *if this isn't a proper forum for this, could someone direct me to a more appropriate one.

  • Is there a way to use something like RewriteRule ... [PT] for an external URL?

    - by nbolton
I have a non-apache web server running on port 8000, but this cannot be accessed from behind corporate firewalls. So, I would like to use my apache 2 server as a proxy to this other web server. I've tried using: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule /.* http://buildbot.synergy-foss.org:8000/builders/ [PT] ... but this does not work; I get: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. However, it worked fine with [R]. Update: Also, when using ProxyPass, I get this error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server.

  • On Developing Web Services with Global State

    - by user74418
I'm new to web programming. I'm more experienced and comfortable with client-side code. Recently, I've been dabbling in web programming through Python's Google App Engine. I ran into some difficulty while trying to write some simple apps for the purposes of learning, mainly involving how to maintain some kind of consistent universally-accessible state for the application. I tried to write a simple queueing management system, the kind you would expect to be used in a small clinic, or at a cafeteria. Typically, this is done with hardware. You take a number from a ticketing machine, and when your number is displayed or called you approach the counter for service. Alternatively, you could be given a small pager, which will beep or vibrate when it is your turn to receive service. The former is somewhat better in that you have an idea of how many people are still ahead of you in the queue. In this situation, the global state is the last number in queue, which needs to be updated whenever a request is made to the server. I'm not sure how to best to store and maintain this value in a GAE context. The solution I thought of was to keep the value in the Datastore, attempt to query it during a ticket request, update the value, and then re-store it with put. My problem is that I haven't figured out how to lock the resource so that other requests do not check the value while it is in the middle of being updated. I am concerned that I may end up ticket requests that have the same queue number. Also, the whole solution feels awkward to me. I was wondering if there was a more natural way to accomplish this without having to go through the Datastore. Can anyone with more experience in this domain provide some advice on how to approach the design of the above application?

  • Proxy between data centers [closed]

    - by dstarh
Possible Duplicate: Can IIS be configure to forward request to another web server? We are switching data centers (actually datac-center to EC2 to be specific) and some customers have not yet made DNS changes to point the domains to the new load balancers. We are thinking of leaving the existing servers up and just using a proxy server to forward the request to the new load balancer. Can anyone recommend a good proxy server for doing this I've got squid installed but it seems it's fairly easy to just have a fairly wide open proxy server and we don't want this. I want all requests coming in on port 80 to be sent to port 80 at a specific domain (elastic load balancer) the data center env is windows 2k3 and the EC2 env will all be linux but the ec2 env should be irrelevant

  • SqlLocalDb vs. Cumulative Updates

    - by AaronBertrand
Last week I announced that SQL Server 2012 Cumulative Update #3 was released. A question came up about SqlLocalDb and I will try to address the current state of patching SqlLocalDb. Please keep in mind that these comments are only relevant to cumulative updates - I do not know whether this is all true for service packs. When SqlLocalDb was first released, there were a few ways to get it: - Visual Studio 2012 betas - SQL Server 2012 Express - From the standalone feature pack installer Now, at that...(read more)

  • Why does it sometimes take over a minute for Apache2.2 to serve a static page?

    - by Jason Lamoreux
We have a Windows Server 2003 machine running Apache2.2. Most of the time there is no load on the server, but we have a notification program on 3400 PC's that can request a small web page that plays a 64KB .wav file. When an event occurs those 3400 PC's all request the web page over the course of 3 minutes. On a few machine we saw the browser sit in the "connecting" state for a little over a minute before the page painted. What is happening, and how can we speed this up?

  • Licensing generator/validator program [closed]

    - by AtoMerZ
I need to write a program that generates/validates license for users of my application. The application has a number of features each of which can be purchased by the user. Also each feature can be enabled in trial mode. Meaning only for a specified duration of time. Before I actually try to write the code myself, I'm wondering if there are any free/commercial programs similar to what I'm looking for.

  • Upload photos to Facebook page (not personal profile)

    - by Steve K
A couple of the various Linux photo organizer applications (Shotwell & f-spot, at least) let you upload pictures to Facebook, but as far as I can see, that's limited only to albums on your personal page. Am I just missing something, and it is actually possible to use either Shotwell or f-spot to upload to albums in a page you are an administrator for? If not, is there another Picasa-type program that has this feature?
